Original subtitles

Yeo Ji, no!

What are you doing?

You're...

Murder the master?

(Murder the master: An act of murdering one's master)

Killing your master?

What is this...

Just kill me!

I was determined to die anyway.

You're a girl?

Hey, are you okay?

Hey.

Is anyone there?

Is anyone there?

Hey, wake up.

What...

is going on, Your Highness?

Be careful, Yeo Ji.

This is...

Is he dead?

Is he?

- Executive Inspector. - Executive Inspector!

Your Highness.

Your... Your Highness.

Your Highness?

Jipyeong Oh?

That's...

Jipyeong Oh!

Step back.

This is a murder scene.

Make sure nothing gets harmed.

And arrest...

the Crown Prince immediately.

Let's go.

Hurry up! Let's go!

Master Moon Soo.

Are you okay?

Yeo Ji!

- The Crown Prince was arrested. - What do you mean?

Hurry and see him.

Why are you hesitating?

I told you to arrest the Crown Prince.

Don't you dare...

lay a finger on me.

I will go...

myself.

Your Highness.

(Episode 10: The Girl with the Black Tattoo)

What did you just say?

The Crown Prince got arrested by the Saheonbu?

My apologies, Your Majesty.

But it seems true that...

the Crown Prince was arrested at a murder scene.

Then is the Crown Prince at Saheonbu now?

Your Majesty.

The Crown Prince committed murder? What happened?

I'm not sure about the details.

Still, how could they arrest the Crown Prince?

- He's the Crown Prince! - They're the Saheonbu.

They can impeach the nobles and check the royals.

However,

a member of Saheonbu died in front of them.

Do you think...

Saheonbu will be afraid of the powerless Crown Prince?

- Chief Inspector! - Chief Inspector!

Let's go.

What's going on right now?

Somebody tell me.

Master,

- why was he at the courtesan house? - For us.

He came to tell us that we were in danger.

That's how it happened.

But murder is nonsense.

He won't do that.

I'll go.

I need to see him.

Are you crazy?

Saheonbu soldiers are everywhere.

Then do you want us to sit back and watch?

The Crown Prince was arrested and don't know anything about it.

Isn't it crazier to just stay like this?

The Crown Prince was there.

The Executive Inspector witnessed that too.

How should we see this?

But he's the Crown Prince.

We can't easily convict him.

Then why are we members of Saheonbu?

A member of Saheonbu, our family, was murdered!

If we can't convict the Crown Prince because of his title,

shouldn't we quit our jobs?

That's enough. Don't you think I know all that?

The only thing that's certain...

is that the Crown Prince was alone at the scene.

Yes.

The Crown Prince and Jipyeong Oh's body,

and a bloody dagger was all that was there.

Of course,

the Crown Prince denied the allegation.

You're not daring to touch me, are you?

I'll go...

myself.

However,

I didn't kill Jipyeong Oh.

I want to trust him.

Why wouldn't I?

Summon everyone to the palace.

- Yes, Your Majesty. - Your Majesty.

Your Majesty!

How dare Saheonbu...

arrest the Crown Prince?

If this is true,

how much trouble will this cause?

My lord.

(Min Jin Heon, Head of Hanseongbu, Patriarchs)

The Crown Prince?

And what chaos will this kingdom plunge into?

That's why...

I really want to trust you when you say that...

the murderer is someone else.

Then...

(Crown Prince Lee Geum)

Then why...

can't I go back?

Why are you not releasing...

the Crown Prince?

Your statement...

This statement doesn't make sense.

You're smarter than anyone.

But why is there a gap in your statement?

Are you trying to hide something?

Move!

Move out of the way!

Let go.

- Move. - Move out!

Are you all insane?

Please let us through.

We must see the Crown Prince!

The Crown Prince was set up.

Some said "Help me" and I rushed outside.

But Jipyeong Oh was already stabbed to death.

How many times are you asking?

And you only saw the back of an aristocrat running away.

Goodness.

I'm starting...

- to get bored of this. - Was it a woman?

Just kill me!

- I'm prepared to die anyway. - Are you a girl?

- Why? - Why?

What did I hear?

It was your voice.

Yes.

You saw the murderer.

That is, if you're not the murderer!

Step back, Inspector Park!

I know how you feel. But Saheonbu works...

based on principles.

Investigating the Crown Prince without permission?

It's the Department of Justice that deals with crimes of the royals.

Saheonbu also has the right to report crimes by royals.

What do you know about this?

Forget it. Drag them out!

- Move! - I told you to move away.

Now!

Give me an answer.

Who did you see?

And why are you trying to lie?

If you can't tell me,

you'll become the murderer.

Then try making that happen.

Isn't that what you're good at?

Your Highness!

Master,

outside...

How dare you draw your swords in the Saheonbu's yard?

You, the Department of Justice!

Hand over the Crown Prince, who is kept captive here.

The Department of Justice will handle this from here on.

This case belongs to the Saheonbu!

I told you the case has been transferred.

Junior Second Rank!

Are you picking a fight?

Are you refusing His Majesty's orders?

- What? - What are you waiting for?

Follow His Majesty's orders immediately!

- Yes, my lord. - Yes, my lord.

- How could you? - This can't happen.

How could Saheonbu be kicked around by the Department of Justice?

Are you from the Department of Justice?

We came to take you...

by His Majesty's orders.

However,

I'll tell you this first.

The Department of Justice...

won't make things easier...

for you.

Nowhere in this kingdom...

is there such a place for me.

Take the Crown Prince.

- Yes, my lord. - Yes, my lord.

Your Highness!

Wait.

Give me a moment.

I know these people.

Step back.

Your Highness.

This time,

you have to trust us.

We'll prove that you were framed...

whatever it takes.

Moon Soo.

Is everyone...

hurt again...

because of me?

They're just scratches.

[Kocowa Ver] SBS E19 'Haechi' "The Girl with the Black Tattoo" -♥ Ruo Xi ♥-

What is he doing?

Is he fooling around in such a moment...

because she's female?

Your Highness.

Why...

Murder the master.

I saw...

a tattoo that said "Murder the master."

Also...

What? What else did he say?

Also,

it was a little girl.

Come see me,

Yeo Ji.

What?

There was a murder and we're inspecting.

What's that?

Oh, yes. It's a bucket toilet.

Go ahead.

The murderer of Jipyeong Oh...

was...

a little...

peasant girl.

Did you hear?

The awaited time has come...

sooner than expected.

(Prince Milpoong, Lee Tan)

Lower your voice.

We're in the Hall of Paradise...

where the Buddha dwells.

They say the Crown Prince killed a man.

He just became Crown Prince.

That's because he was born of a peasant.

- Still, how can you murder someone? - I don't trust him.

That's not it.

Next door neighbor, the neighbor across from us...

The situation is serious in the palace...

and even the people are against us.

Now they're finding fault with his background too.

If you're a peasant, you should side with the Crown Prince.

Why are they spreading such rumors?

I'll go out on the streets and try to change the mood.

Are you sure?

Storytellers should be telling...

stories even when they're dying.

Excuse me.

Do you have a minute?

My master wants to see you now.

What does that mean?

Are you also saying that the Crown Prince did it?

If not,

why don't you convince me Your Majesty?

Going to the courtesan house and lying about it is serious enough.

But murder?

And he isn't even cooperating with the Department of Justice.

If it's a false accusation, why isn't he fighting back?

And the other officials.

What are they doing?

Move out of the way!

I told you to get out!

Get out? You rascals!

This is Patriarch's office.

That's why you should leave.

You don't deserve to be a Patriarch.

- How dare you... - Act foolishly and offensively?

I will not associate with people...

who appointed that kind of a Crown Prince.

How dare you raise your finger at me like that?

You rascal! I'm the Prime Minister of this kingdom.

We're the frustrated ones. Why are the Patriarchs making the fuss?

Let's go.

I have to go to the investigation room.

How dare you?

You imbeciles. Do you really...

want to die?

How can learners of Confucius and Mencius...

be this vulgar?

Go on and hit me too.

I said, hit me.

- Try hitting me! Go on! - This is going out of hand.

Did you tell Queen Dowager that we're coming?

Yes, she said she'll meet you soon.

She must be desperate since it's her husband.

Court Lady Heo.

What happened? Did he come back safely?

You keep saying the same thing.

Cho Hyun Myung, Junior Second Rank?

You're pretty tenacious too.

You're strange.

(Cho Hyun Myung, Junior Second Rank, Disciples)

You're making things more difficult.

The situation will only get worse for you.

Even if I speak, nothing will change.

Since I answered you all night,

let me ask you something.

The murder case...

involving the aristocrat.

Was the case solved?

Why do you ask?

Well,

because it doesn't feel entirely foreign.

The court lady is here from the Crown Prince Palace.

It's the Crown Prince's lunch time. I'd like to serve him.

I hope it's not impossible.

Yeo Ji.

Your Highness.

You've grown...

thin overnight.

It doesn't matter.

But my good looks should be the same.

Good looks?

Still,

it's nice...

to see you like this.

Murdering of the master?

You mean slaves scheming to kill their master?

Yes, you would know it.

Such slaves that were prevalent during the late king's reign.

(Murdering of master: slaves' act of killing their masters)

It's the slave group formed to kill their own master.

If I'm right,

that slave group has been formed once again.

Saheonbu's jipyeong.

An official from the Ministry of Taxation.

There should be more aristocrats that were murdered.

And the culprit...

was a girl?

That's why...

I couldn't say anything.

She was only 12 or 13.

I was so shocked...

that such a young girl would do such a thing.

The main reason I didn't speak at Saheonbu is...

You were worried about the consequences.

I was little but I still remember...

when a rebellious slave group...

was first found out.

(Murder the master)

Strike!

It was a cruel time.

It was not only the rebellious slaves...

that were gotten rid of because of the incident.

Maybe that's why...

the Crown Prince is holding out.

And his adversary...

is the Saheonbu, the highest legal agency.

Since their own member died, they'll be really brutal.

And he probably knows that.

Secretly find out about the background.

Their crimes should be punished...

but we should prevent it from developing into a storm.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

At least I should...

know the reason, Crown Prince.

What the background is to the incident you're pursuing.

And how that is...

related to the incident yesterday involving you.

(Supreme Court)

Is everyone agreed?

Executive Inspector Wi Byeong Ju and Daejangcheong officials...

have resolved to resign.

Team Leader Joo Yeong Han...

and 22 other inspectors have also agreed.

What are you doing?

We have cases to investigate.

Get out, you traitor.

You and Park Moon Soo are the only exceptions.

Let's see how you two run the Saheonbu!

Consider me once and step back.

You shouldn't do this.

You were the head of Saheonbu.

Don't you know what the Department of Justice did?

- Please... - Let me go.

Chief Inspector! Chief Inspector!

I'm sure you know what it means to defy the king's orders.

Answer me.

What happened?

Your Majesty.

Why can't you tell me?

Do you not trust me...

as much as I trust you?

I want to help you, Crown Prince.

Was I mistaken about your sincerity?

Murder the master.

Do you remember that term, Your Majesty?

I'm talking about the incident...

that plunged the entire country into chaos...

during the late king's reign.

(Episode 20 will air shortly.)

What did you say?

Saheonbu is in the palace?

Such thing happened?

The only reason I kept my mouth closed...

is because it was a little girl...

who committed a crime.

If Saheonbu gets involved...

just like before, the whole nation will...

Your Highness.

Still...

I know!

The Crown Prince...

cannot be involved in politics...

and should not do anything related to it.

Every decision belongs to the king,

so if one does get involved...

it will be considered as a treason.

If you'll punish me, I'll accept.

But the reason I had to stand out was...

because I wanted to know...

the reason why such little girl...

needed to commit a crime.

Did you want to know the reason?

Maybe it's the lowly blood...

that flows in me.

Why it hurts.

Why...

she had to hold a sword in her hand.

Before we accuse them of a crime,

I wanted...

to know that first.

Your Majesty.

Something terrible happened.

All officials of Saheonbu should rise.

I...

will not accept your resignation.

Then please give us...

the jurisdiction in the investigation.

We can't trust the investigation by Department of Justice...

who'll try to protect the Royals.

Chief Inspector!

We've made up our mind.

If you will not promise us justice in this investigation,

all of us...

will resign from Saheonbu.

We beg your kindness.

- We beg your kindness. - We beg your kindness.

You want the Crown Prince.

Okay.

Is that what you want?

Handing you over...

the Crown Prince?

Your Majesty.

Your Highness.

You're the only one who can save the Crown Prince.

Crown Princess.

(Queen Inwon)

Be patient until they release the result.

No matter how ignorant you are with the palace rule,

you are being rude.

How ill-bred you are.

Pardon?

Queen.

You are acting the same now.

(Queen)

Your Majesty, I was just...

Your Majesty, it's court lady Jeong Sung.

Your Majesty.

It's urgent.

His Majesty will hand over...

the jurisdiction to Saheonbu.

What?

To them, again?

My Queen!

Is this King's order...

real?

Yes, it is.

But His Majesty...

promised to give you some time.

Before...

the jurisdiction will be handed over to Saheonbu.

That's His Majesty's term.

Your Majesty.

In time,

you will have to prove your innocence...

and the truth of the case.

You'll have to stand...

(Supreme Court: top legislative meeting)

at the court of Saheonbu.

(Supreme Court: top legislative meeting)

Three days.

Three days.

You should call it off.

This will get back at you.

If something goes wrong...

Even I...

will be attacked by Saheonbu and the Patriarchs.

Your Majesty.

But the Crown Prince wanted to know.

Before accusing people of their crime,

he wanted to understand first.

And if I'm the King,

Minister,

I should...

know that, too.

Who was killed? Jipyeong?

What's Jipyeong?

Even his name is weird.

It's not the name. It's the title of the position.

Whatever it is...

Why would he get stabbed in my bar...

and make a mess?

But thanks to that, Saheonbu stopped the investigation on us.

But you should stay away.

Hey.

Stay away?

Hey.

I'm Do Ji Gwang.

I told you we're not open.

Why are you coming in?

What can I do?

He told me to prepare the table.

I.. didn't expect...

to see you again, Prince.

Me neither.

If you opened a courtesan house in Hanyang...

Please forgive me!

You should have told me.

We do... have a tie.

Pardon?

You, you... are not...

here to kill me?

It's all my fault.

It's all my fault.

It's all on me.

Why would I hurt you?

Now,

- have a drink. - Yes.

Who's telling us to open the bar?

Is it you?

How brave you are.

Bringing in a girl here, too.

You're sinning as you talk.

Have a seat.

Let us pour you a drink.

Who are you?

My friend... calm down.

- They are... - You bastard.

These two are really...

being bold.

Get lost.

You bastards!

I would have bored a hole in your eyes.

Commit no killing.

(Commit no killing: Buddhist precept to not kill)

That's why you can still keep your eyes open.

- Master. - Stay down.

This one...

is real.

You should put that down.

He now understands us.

Oh, oh my.

I'm sorry.

Did I frighten you?

You must be Do Ji Gwang.

Don't worry.

I'm here to help you.

(Hanseongbu)

Saheonbu has set up the wall.

Do you need my help now?

I'm not here to ask for your help.

I'm...

requesting a cooperation...

You'll have to save your face...

and you can't scoop up your arrogance.

This is a case file of Noh Ji Pyeong's murder.

I hereby request a cooperation of Hanseongbu.

His Majesty will hand over the Crown Prince after three days.

Why would you do this?

It looks like they're buying the time.

Not only to calm down the Department of Justice...

but to give time to the Crown Prince.

You're good.

What do you know?

Before, you said...

Before that, you should first give me the information...

you have.

That's...

If you want to set up, you should believe me.

Inspector Wi.

If the Crown Prince...

feels awkward to you, too.

Your Highness.

Around Hanyang,

there are roughly ten post towns.

Murderers of masters used to base in the post town.

This time, it's different.

We couldn't find anyone...

suspicious around the area.

Thank you.

Take care.

- Know anything about murderers - No.

That's not the only thing.

There was no trace of robbery, either.

Usually, master-murderers...

also rob people.

And there's more, Your Highness.

The recent murder of the nobles...

had something in common that didn't make sense.

Something in common...

but didn't make sense?

Not only Noh Ji Pyeong,

all murdered nobles...

were drunk where they...

couldn't handle themselves.

It means they couldn't fight back.

Even so,

the murderer couldn't kill at once.

Several times...

until it hurts own hand.

They'd had to put all the strength.

That's...

You're right.

The killer might be the feeble one.

Not only that girl,

the other killers might also be...

young children.

Children...

Why?

How?

Hey.

Hurry up.

We should go now.

I'm going.

We'll look for the base.

You...

should look for that girl.

She was...

this small...

The one...

I saw...

To know the situation,

we should find her first.

Excuse me.

Your Highness.

Was it this knife,

for sure?

Is this what you saw?

They say the holes are troubling.

So clean it well.

(Holes: where the smoke exists)

We'd get in trouble if His Highness catches a cold.

Clean it well if you want to get paid.

- Yes. - Yes.

They should have called the children...

to fix the floor heating.

(Chimjeon: king's bedroom Janggaeng: ondol, floor heating)

The weather is cold.

It must be hard.

I found this in Aekjeongseo.

But the letter is...

(Aekjeongseo: office for miscellaneous work)

Maybe the letter "aek" was...

was worn down.

That's why Saheonbu didn't know.

Where...

do they use this knife?

This Hyeminseo is where orphans stay.

(Hyeminseo: clinic for the people)

This way.

Investigate on other temples doing charity work.

- Yes, brother. - Yes, brother.

(Charity work: to feed and supply the poor)

What are you doing?

Same knife is used everywhere.

We can't find it like this.

It'd be better...

to request the soldiers.

By the way,

who are those children?

They clean the chimney of the bedroom.

Not the government slave...

The chimney?

No way...

Black ashes...

Master.

Anything new?

Nothing from Hyeminseo.

We'll have to check the suburb temples, too.

Master.

I don't think we can use that boat.

We can't?

Why?

I don't know.

He still said no...

even when I doubled the fare.

Beyond this hill,

there is another port.

Let's go.

Yes.

Let's go, master.

Wait.

That boat.

It's weird.

Only children are getting aboard.

Why?

He declined our doubled rate.

Yet lets children with no money get on board.

So it's...

you.

Wait!

- I won't hurt you. - Let go of me!

I said let go!

I want to help you!

Do you understand?

I want to help...

why you did that.

What do you mean?

Help me?

[Kocowa Ver] SBS E20 'Haechi' "A Little Girl’s Story" -♥ Ruo Xi ♥-

Yes.

I did see you murdering a noble.

And I saw saw that...

"murder the master" tattoo on your body, too.

But before I capture you to punish...

I wanted to know why you...

had to do such thing.

Do you understand?

To help you.

Help me?

How will you?

You're a noble.

You are the same noble.

How can you help me?

We became like this because of you.

If it wasn't the farm rent,

my sister wouldn't be sold to Qing.

If our mistress gave us few more days,

my father wouldn't have sold me.

Even if we had nothing to fill up the stomach,

we just wanted to live here.

Even this nation is ruined,

I wanted to live with my family.

Being sold?

What do you mean?

Did someone...

try to sell you to Qing?

Who's there?

Crown Prince.

It's the soldiers.

- What should we do with her? - Hide!

- Pardon? - Before the soldiers get here.

Hurry.

What's the matter?

Crown Prince.

My apologies.

We've heard a weird sound.

It's nothing. You're good to go.

You're dismissed.

Yes, Your Highness.

Your Highness.

- I'm hungry. - I'm hungry.

- Wait a minute! - I'm hungry.

- I'm hungry. - I'm hungry.

I said wait!

This is the base of master-murderers?

Those kids are the killers?

How can this be?

How can this happen?

Who are you?

(Saheonbu)

Oops, sorry.

I didn't see you there.

That's so childish.

What?

Childish?

What did you just say?

Master!

I need to talk to you.

It's about the human trafficking.

Wow, who is this?

Isn't this our newbie, Park Moon Soo?

Hands off, please.

Hands off, please?

Look at his attitude!

- He might punch me in the face! - Yes.

Before I do, hands off!

Hey, Park Moon Soo!

Do you wish to die?

You bastard.

You're just the newbie.

Lowest inspector lower than an animal!

If we ask you to bark like a dog,

you should make a sound!

That's the appropriate attitude!

Oh.

Newbie?

That stupid newbie ceremony.

Okay.

A dog bark?

I can bark...

as you wish.

Do you know why this world is so crappy?

It's because the crappy ones don't know they're crappy.

And they behave like crap...

and eat up nation's fortune.

When people get sold off like dogs,

and die like dogs.

And you're acting like a dog...

to fill up your own dish.

Crappy, dog-like, dung like you!

Because of those bastards.

Is this enough?

A dog bark you wanted.

Master.

A moment, please.

Huh?

Okay.

Isn't he mad?

He's really crazy!

Well...

I don't think so.

It's better than barking woof woof.

It was the most original dog bark...

than any other newbie inspectors.

What did you say?

I'm after you!

She said that?

She didn't want to be sold to Qing...

and just live with her family in Joseon?

We can't ignore the fact...

that they committed murder.

But before that,

please take care of the ill-cause...

that put a knife...

in her hand.

I am...

sitting in here, Crown Prince.

When I couldn't save my people from getting sold off.

I'm sitting in this warm room...

those small hands fixed.

Minister of Taxation.

My Queen.

It's been a while.

Can I talk friendly to you?

I've known you...

from my young days in family house.

I received a lesson...

from your father.

I heard...

the Crown Prince is in the palace.

So,

what do you think about...

the Crown Prince?

Pardon?

You're acting naive.

You know what I mean.

I still don't get...

what kind of person...

the Crown Prince is.

But one thing. If he's the prince,

he might have the King's material...

this nation...

will need later on.

What?

The Crown Prince is here?

Yes.

Your Highness.

Are you ready?

Don't worry.

It'll be all taken care of.

I'm honored that you've come this far.

But the law is law.

Saheonbu is...

just doing a job as a Saheonbu.

I know more than anyone that Saheonbu fights...

to deliver the law as it is.

Although...

we don't know for whom...

that law stands for.

Let me escort you, Your Highness.

- Break the door! - Yes.

The Crown Prince has arrived.

It will be processed by this order.

You know the rules.

You've been here before.

It's very...

kind of you.

It's too early for you to say that.

Considering the trouble you will go through.

Oh. Do you remember that?

That you've matured when you realized what happens when you...

lose favor to a powerful person?

What?

I didn't know it back then.

But when I knew what'd happen to me when I lose favor,

I've grown up.

If you really learned your lesson,

you wouldn't do something stupid...

like this again.

Let go of me!

- What's the matter? - No!

Come here, you bastard.

Where's your master?

Oh no.

Hey!

What is it?

Who are you?

Are you Do Ji Gwang?

You better come with us.

We're arresting you for human trafficking to the Qing!

Wait!

Lord Min Jin Heon!

Before we start this case,

there's something you should see.

Min Jin Heon.

Bring in the offender!

How could Saheonbu...

treat the nation's people like this?

He is...

That girl is...

Why is she...

(Haechi)

These are the ones! Get them all!

You call this politics?

No, it's logic.

Please help the Crown Prince, my Queen!

Joseon does not belong to the king.

A nobleman stands in the front.

So you're saying that we should throw him out?

Does it mean that you're also covering the master-murderers?

Dethrone me as they request.

Why can't you take care of them?

They all hang their name.

No one can manipulate this.

It's the true popularity.

Believing in people's popularity that'll easily turn away?

Show them that you're still strong as the Crown Prince.
