Well, what I propose is an unbreakable gentleman's

Whichever one of the three of us is

nailed will have to bear the brunt of

the entire thing.

He can't call on his friends for help,

and he can't implicate them in any way.

He must stand by his statement that he

and he alone was involved, Marla Scanlon.

Now, the doomed man would at least then

have the satisfaction of knowing that he shielded

his friends.

When a man is slapped with a murder

charge, the natural tendency is to name others,

to confuse the issue, to direct suspicion elsewhere.

two who escape will stand by their losers'

on parole within a year.
