because I battled
Crohn's disease for ten years,

so there's a lot of pain --
physical, mental, and emotional.

Being a full-time musician
for 30 years,

you have so many failures
along the way and closed doors.

At one point,

I kind of had given up
on the whole music thing.

I just got diagnosed
with a disease.

I had a wife I'd
just been married to,

and then,
when we started having kids,

the thought of music
was just a long way away.

In my mind, I never thought,

in a million years, I'll be
back pursuing music like this

and be on a television show
like this

in front of millions of people.

This whole process has
quite possibly been one

of the best experiences
of my life.

I've learnt so much
as a musician, as an artist,

I don't want to go home.

I want to stay all
the way to the end.

I had my colon removed.

in that situation,

kidney failure, so...
