We were freezing.

The white man continued to come.

The women of the Fort seemed
to have known for several days.

We waited for news.

In one word.

It finally arrived.

On Sunday, June 25th,

from 1876.

General George Armstrong Custer,

and about... about 265
members of his regiment,

died in combat against
hostile Indian tribes,

on the Little Big Horn River.

Six months after the battle,

Crazy Horse and those who were with him,

they surrendered.

Crazy Horse was hostile.

He was dangerous.

Feared.

As a child he had a vision.

He felt destined to protect his
people against the white man.

But in the end... he saw
that he was going to die.

He was unable to defend himself,

when he was arrested he
was killed by one of the soldiers.

Sitting Bull surrendered in 1881.

In 1890, some called
for a ghost dance.

They said that through
prayer the buffalo would return.

We danced so they could
give us our lives back.

We dance, we dance...

and we danced!

On a cold morning at dawn,

Indian police killed
Sitting Bull and his son.

And shortly afterwards, they massacred
the rest who participated in the dance.

at a place called Wounded Knee.

And so...

the wars with the Plains Indians...

ended forever.
