boxing champion Mike Tyson

had a brief medical scare earlier today
during a cross-country flight

from Miami to Los Angeles.

The 57-year-old boxer experienced

an ulcer flare-up
30 minutes before landing

that made him nauseated and dizzy.

Paramedics had to tend to Tyson
while he was onboard the plane.

to the ring will have to wait.

Organizers announced his match
against YouTuber Jake Paul

has been postponed due to medical issues.

A week and a half ago,
I was training, and I was doing great.

And then all of a sudden,
I started feeling tired.

And I was explaining to my trainer,
I don't know what's wrong with me.

Coming here from Miami on the plane,

I went to the bathroom,
and I threw up blood.

The next thing I know, I'm on the floor.
I was defecating tar.

Not feeling

So, I came here,
they found out I had a big ulcer,

two-and-a-half inches, it was bleeding.

All my friends are calling me
like I'm dying.

Thanks for being patient with us.

I know it's frustrating
being in the hospital.

I asked the doctor,
"Am I gonna die?"

And she didn't say no.
She said we have options, though.

That's when I got nervous.

Exercise-wise,
I would take it slow at the beginning.

I can't wait to get out

I don't wanna die in a hospital bedroom.

that likes a schedule

and likes to know what I'm doing,

and this just, like,
threw a wrench in all that.

I look at Mike Tyson as a killer,

so I never really expected
something like this.

The highly anticipated fight

between Jake Paul
and Mike Tyson has a new date.

They'll face off in AT&T Stadium
on November 15th.

That fight was originally scheduled
for July,

but Tyson recently suffered
a flare-up of an ulcer

that impacted his training schedule.

I have to stay locked in,
and that's why we're here today.

Ultimately,
it all led to a decision pretty quickly,

Mike Perry.

At the end of the day,
the Mike Tyson fight's great,

but I have the goal
to become world champion,

and I'm not slowing
that down for anyone.

I'm kind of glad it's rescheduled
because I don't want any excuses.

I want both men at 100%.

And I got a feeling this is going to be
the fight of the century, brothers.

This is gonna be a good one.

Mike Tyson's health,
that would be the biggest issue for me.

The main problem I've got is
if Mike Tyson gets injured.

I'm going to pray for Mike Tyson
because I love Mike Tyson.

It's a dangerous fight.

The doctor ordered him
to take it easy.

So, for a few weeks after his ulcer scare,
Mike Tyson did cut back on his training.

But hearing Jake
was still going full throttle

to prep for his summertime fight
stoked his competitiveness,

and Mike got back to work.

what I endured from my ulcer.

I lost 26 pounds. Can you imagine that?

Controlling his fury was always
Mike Tyson's biggest advantage

in besting his opponents.

But as the decade turned in 1990,

Tyson would face
his toughest challenge. Success.

The truth was he'd begun losing his way
with the death of his trainer,

Cus D'Amato, in the mid '80s.
His training tapered off,

trumped by the thrills of life
as a celebrity.

He's even been seen partying
in Las Vegas night spots.

Leading up to his first fight
of the new decade,

he was actually knocked down in sparring.

The armor he'd worn for so long
was about to be stripped away.

On February 11, 1990,

James "Buster" Douglas
entered the ring in Tokyo, Japan,

a 42-to-one underdog to Tyson.

Douglas was knocked down
in the eighth round but got up.

And a few rounds later,
he shocked the world.

Two, three, four, five, six,

seven, eight, nine...

Upsets is a big part of boxing,

but the benchmark is when Mike Tyson lost
to Buster Douglas.

The loss to Buster Douglas
was everything. I mean,

real legitimate fighters
were no longer afraid of him

because they saw this guy's a human being.
He's made of the same stuff I am.

That stripped the cloak
of invincibility off him.

Over the next several years,
Tyson's life continued to spiral downward,

but he kept getting chances
to come back,

including a shot at reclaiming
the heavyweight title in 1997,

in even more staggering fashion.

But in February of 2023,

he took on an established boxer

So... Then J'Leon was there the whole time.

J'Leon has this special connection
with me, like as a brother.

And he's able to utilize that
to help me become the best boxer.

was a professional boxer with 25 wins.

He's been with Jake since 2020.

And in an ever-revolving door of trainers,
managers, and specialists,

he's remained a constant presence
in Jake's camp,

an expert in both the physical
and mental challenges

in a world he once labored through.

to wanna accomplish something

that nobody really feels you can do.
I have his best interests at heart,

I had never boxed before.

work from the ground up."

Angles, foot placement, distance,

little things that were just missed
that he's picking up now.

We learn how to process
that shit perfectly

to where the kid gets it.

Today was a big focus
on keeping my jab hand high.

And keeping my weight farther back

versus sometimes I have
a tendency to lean forward.

so that I can continue punching

with certain combinations.

After the Tommy Fury fight, the loss,

I felt like he questioned everything.
He questioned himself, his preparation.

I felt like we didn't protect him.

Now where we are, the way we train,
we leave no stone unturned.

We know, without a doubt in our mind,
Jake is 1000% ready.

higher than it's ever been,

this stuff than other days, right?

to go into the fight with those things,

to push me every single day
in training to make me better.
