Welcome back to "America's Got

Talent: Champions," the finale.

"Got Talent" is in

the "Guinness Book of Records"

as the world's most successful

reality TV show.

- Whoo.

- Yes.

- It's "yuge" all around

the globe,

and right here is the man

responsible.

- Yes!

- [mouths word]

- But if you're wondering

how it all started,

well, take a look at this.

- Please welcome your host,

Paul O'Grady.

[cheers and applause]

- "Got Talent" started with

a pilot.

- Are you gonna be nice

tonight?

- I'm always nice, Paul,

you know that.

- Now, Simon...

- The pilot was terrible.

It was overcomplicated,

it was too long,

and it wasn't picked up.

It was dead in the water.

[alarm sounding]

But there are a couple

of things I remember

happening on the pilot,

thinking, "You know what?

I still believe in this show."

And then we got a call

from NBC.

And if it wasn't for them,

there would be no "Got Talent"

here or anywhere else

in the world.

[buzzing]

- What the hell was that?

- Do you have any idea

what you're talking about?

- Are you guys watching

the same show I am?

- That first one is

very different

than what we have now.

[dynamic music]

- America has got talent,

and you were awesome.

- It coincided with YouTube.

The Susan Boyle bit

in particular went like crazy.

And that was the point

where I thought,

"Wow, this really is

a worldwide show,"

and it has a much bigger reach

than any of us could have

imagined.

- You hear the roar

of the crowd?

- Oh, yeah.

- You hear the excitement?

- Yes.

- They must know I'm on my way.

[both laughing]

When I got the call

to be on it--

probably one of

the most exciting calls

I've ever gotten.

- Give it up for my man

Howie Mandel.

- There's something surreal

about being a fan of something

and then, boom,

you're inside it.

I was so excited to be there.

This year we are gonna find

a star, I promise you.

- Now, what's your name?

- I am Howie.

[laughter]

This show teaches people

to follow their dreams.

Four yeses.

And it's so exciting to be

a small part of this

little adventure called

"Got Talent."

- I got a call being asked

to go on the show,

and I thought it was a joke.

- I was asked by

"America's Got Talent"

to come in for a meeting.

I didn't hear anything

afterwards

until I saw in

the newspaper that

Melanie Brown got the job.

And I'm like, "Darn, I lost it.

I'm not getting it."

- When I found out it

was serious, I was like,

"Of course I wanna be

part of the show."

I'm already part of the show

in my mind

because I judge from the sofa.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

[cheering]

- Two weeks before the show

started shooting,

they called me and they said,

"We wanna hire you

as one of the judges."

And I said,

"But you already booked Mel.

I saw it in the newspaper."

And they said,

"Well, guess what?

For the first time

we have four judges."

I was like, "Hallelujah."

[cheers and applause]

- So, me and Heidi started on

the same day.

- Welcome, ladies.

- Thank you.

- You are due for

the ride of your life.

- I was producing the show,

and I used to come down

and watch the show.

And I always remember

thinking,

"I actually would really love

to be a judge

on the American show."

- Simon, I love you!

- All I remember thinking was,

"Let's just make a show

where literally

there are no rules whatsoever."

- I've been singing

in the subway

for roughly 37 years.

[belting a note]

- With "Got Talent,"

you're not judged by

having to look a certain part

or be a certain age.

- I lost all my hearing

when I was 18 years old,

but I want to do more with

my life than just give up.

- If you told me

back when I was 16,

learning magic tricks

and me dressed up in

the white suit with

my bowl cut,

that I would one day be

the winner

of "America's Got Talent,"

I would not have believed you

at all.

- Shin Lim!

- It was just life-changing

and incredible.

And I wanted to be a part

of "Champions"

because when else am I gonna

get such an amazing opportunity

to test myself alongside

such world-class talent?

But it's also quite daunting

because everyone else here

is so phenomenal.

So, I am so grateful

right now to be here.

It means the world to me.

I am so close to winning

that title.

I really want it.

I really wanna show everyone

that I deserve to be here,

that I belong here with

the best in the world,

and to prove to everyone that

I'm a champion.

- It's crazy to think that

two years ago,

I was walking onto

the "AGT" stage

for the very first time.

I had just started

ventriloquism,

and I was super shy.

And now I'm competing

to be the world champion,

and I might have a chance

to win.

When I got voted off,

I was really disappointed.

- Leaving the competition,

- So, getting the wildcard

and being here,

I want this to be

the greatest comeback ever.

- But my dream now is to take
