[Fangs of Fortune]

[Episode 24]

Wen Zongyu, I'll kill you!

If you kill me,

you'll die too.

What do you mean?

Have you never felt

the burning pain in your chest?

What did you do to me?

Whether it's used against a human or a demon,

poison is always the most effective weapon.

If you want to live,

you have to listen to me.

I, Li Lun,

never take orders from anyone!

Really?

Imperial Physician Liu has checked on him.

He said Zhuo has serious internal injuries

and his life is in danger.

He couldn't find the cause

and can only keep him alive with medication

and daily acupuncture.

Bingyi has many descendants,

but only a few can be acknowledged by the Cloud Light Sword.

Those who are acknowledged by the Sword

will empathize with it.

The Cloud Light Sword

will then become his fate weapon.

Fate weapon?

Having a fate weapon means that

as long as the sword is intact,

its owner stays alive;

if the sword is destroyed,

its owner dies.

So,

that's the reason

why Zhuo is in a coma.

I lost control of my malicious energy…

and caused the Cloud Light Sword to crack.

Otherwise, Li Lun alone…

wasn't powerful enough to break the Cloud Light Sword.

Zhuo tried his best to save me,

but I…

hurt him.

If Jiu were here…

he'd definitely have a solution.

Yes.

Jiu is the most famous young physician in Tiandu.

He cured a lot of people.

Ms. Pei.

Do you think

Jiu will

return to the way he used to be?

I'll definitely take him back

from Li Lun.

Ah.

How about

we ask Mr. Lu Wu about it?

There are many rare herbs on Mount Kunlun.

Maybe

Mr. Lu Wu has a way

to cure Mr. Zhuo

or wake Bai Jiu up.

Are you coming with me?

Yes.

Li Lun used his inner core

to live in Bai Jiu.

It's much more powerful

than possession by spells.

It's hard to get rid of him.

Is there

no solution at all?

There is.

You need the help of Bingyi's descendants.

They can use the Cloud Light Sword

to separate the parasitic primordial spirit from the host.

Cloud Light Sword?

Mr. Zhuo?

But I heard

the Cloud Light Sword has been destroyed.

Mr. Lu Wu,

Mr. Zhuo

is in a coma now.

Is there any way

to wake him up?

There is Gui Wood in the Wilderness.

Eating it can restore his energy

and slow down his deterioration.

Gui Wood?

Okay.

I got it.

Ms. Pei.

I'll send you back first.

I'll go with you.

No.

Gui Wood grows

in the crevices of black rocks along the seaside in the Wilderness.

Sea scorpions are everywhere.

There are also red-bellied snakes.

Since it's so dangerous,

I can't let you go alone.

You're still injured.

Let me go.

You're not familiar with the Wilderness,

and there are demons everywhere.

I'll go.

I'll bring Gui Wood back.

Mr. Zhuo

is the person Jiu admires the most.

I must wake him up.

You should stay

to accompany Xiao.

Goddess needs you more than I do.

Sir.

You're back.

How do you feel?

Thank you

for your treatment.

I'm right as rain now.

Even better than I was

before I got hurt.

Commander,

according to the spy,

Zhuo Yichen from the Demon Hunting Bureau is sick and dying.

Only Zhuo Yichen can kill Zhao Yuanzhou.

He can't die!

What's wrong?

Wen Zongyu's poison.

Poison?

This can wait.

The most important thing now is the Cloud Light Sword.

It can remove my primordial spirit

from Bai Jiu's body.

It's the only thing

I'm afraid of now.

But the Cloud Light Sword

has been destroyed, hasn't it?

If we can't repair the Cloud Light Sword,

Zhuo will keep deteriorating

until he dies.

How can we repair the Cloud Light Sword?

The Cloud Light Sword could be destroyed,

so it can be repaired.

I'll go stop them.

No need.

I have a better plan.

Brother.

You're amazing.

The sword technique just now

looked so cool.

Unfortunately,

the Cloud Light Sword

is only a normal sword in my hand.

I can't wake it up.

Wake it up?

This sword can be awakened?

Once awakened, the Cloud Light Sword

can shake the sun and moon

and make the earth tremble.

As long as the one using it is strong enough,

the Cloud Light Sword will awaken on itself.

Brother, you're so powerful but still can't wake it up.

I'm definitely hopeless.

Yichen, have faith in yourself.

After you grow up,

you'll absolutely be more powerful than me.

Then I'll try my best to catch up with you.

Okay.

But later,

I'll go out with Father

to catch a great demon.

When I come back,

I'll teach you the technique just now,

okay?

Deal!

Where is my brother?

Say something.

Where is my brother?

Brother.

You promised to come back and teach me that sword technique.

We made a deal.

♫Someone is singing♫

♫Can you hear it?♫

♫The burning hoarseness♫

Brother,

I swear to be acknowledged by the Cloud Light Sword

♫It sprouts♫

♫And then blooms♫

and learn

the technique you didn't get to teach me.

♫The time of loneliness♫

I'll avenge you and Father.

♫Someone is singing♫

♫I hold the light♫

♫Going the direction where you are♫

♫The bell rings unemotionally♫

♫I'm missing you again♫

♫Winter snow♫

♫Spring light♫

♫Everything is thriving in the rain♫

It still isn't working.

Brother.

♫Drifting♫

How can I become stronger…

♫Swaying♫

♫Torn clothes♫

to avenge you and Father?

♫Someday I'll return to my old hometown♫

♫Wearing old clothes but with eyes shining bright♫

♫Holding brilliance in the right hand♫

♫Biting down on all panic♫

♫Wiping away frost with the left hand♫

♫I finally look up♫

♫You're in front of me♫

♫Blocking the pain♫

Cloud Light Sword.

Cloud Light Sword.

Zhuo.

Zhuo.

Cloud Light Sword.

Cloud Light Sword.

Cloud Light Sword.

Cloud Light Sword!

Zhuo.

Zhuo.

Zhuo!

Zhuo!

What's this?

It's the Bingyi Clan's secret heirloom that has been passed down through generations.

Five-Colored Stone.

The kind of stone that Nuwa used

to mend the sky back then?

Yes.

But why is it

in the pool of the Demon Hunting Bureau?

This mansion used to belong to the Zhuo family.

The Zhuo family has kept the Five-Colored Stone for generations.

It can mend the sky

and repair everything.

So I guess

the Five-Colored Stone sensed the broken Cloud Light Sword

and showed up itself.

Great!

But…

Zhuo can be saved.

Jiu?

Li Lun.

Do you have to destroy every hope we have?

Can't you spare Zhuo's life?

What about me?

Who will spare my life?

Both Zhuo Yichen and Bai Jiu are my friends.

I must save them.

I used to be your friend too.

I didn't want this to happen.

You brought it on yourself.

You didn't want to,

but you still did it.

You started all this.

You took over Jiu's body

and live in it.

I won't just sit back and watch.

Oh?

Really?

Then I'll wait for you to come after me.

Fortunately, the Five-Colored Stone

wasn't taken away by Li Lun.

It's Li Lun's vine.

The Stone has been corroded by the demonic energy of Li Lun's vine.

Zhuo!

Zhuo!

For the greater good,

I don't mind dying.

Ying Long,

you don't mind dying,

but have you ever thought about my feelings?

Bingyi?

Bingyi.

I see.

Li Lun didn't come for the Five-Colored Stone.

Then what does he want?

He wants to turn Zhuo

into a demon.

Gui Wood!

I've brought Gui Wood back.

Mr. Zhuo.

What's going on?

Mr. Zhuo has taken Gui Wood.

Mr. Lu Wu said

Gui Wood can keep Mr. Zhuo alive for now

and buy him some time.

Why are you so badly injured?

It's not serious.

Does it hurt?

Just some scratches.

But

they really hurt.

I'll go with you.

No, no, no.

Gui Wood grows in the crevices of black rocks

along the seaside in the Wilderness.

Sea scorpions are everywhere.

There are also red-bellied snakes.

Since it's so dangerous

and you're still injured,

let me go.

You're not familiar with the Wilderness.

I'll go.

I'll definitely get Gui Wood.

But as long as it can save Mr. Zhuo,

it's all worth it.

It's useless.

You brought Gui Wood back,

but it's just a band-aid fix.

Don't be so cruel, Zhao Yuanzhou.

It was hard for Ying Lei to get Gui Wood.

I just don't want you to be hopeful

and then greatly disappointed.

Prepare for the worst.

What is the worst that could happen?

Breaking the Five-Colored Stone

was worse than breaking the Cloud Light Sword.

The Five-Colored Stone was a sacred object of the Bingyi Clan

that had been passed down from generation to generation.

Besides the ability to repair the Cloud Light Sword,

it was also a very important…

vessel.

Vessel?

To be precise,

it was a vessel for suppression.

You mean that drop of blood?

It was demon blood.

Demon blood?

Back then, Zhuan Xu and Gong Gong started a great war.

Ying Long and Bingyi were involved in it

and fought together.

But legend has it that

Bingyi killed Ying Long

and used his bone

and soul

to forge the Cloud Light Sword.

If they once fought together,

why did

Bingyi kill Ying Long?

It's said that

after Gong Gong crashed Mount Buzhou,

the world was thrown into chaos.

But Ying Long kept causing havoc

to destroy the world.

He even attempted to stop Nuwa from mending the sky.

Fortunately, Bingyi came to his senses in time.

He realized his mistake

and killed Ying Long.

In that case…

Bingyi was also a demon?

Yes.

Bingyi killed

many evil demons in his time,

so people have always seen him as a god.

But in fact,

he was a great demon born in the Wilderness.

Stop!

You want to catch me?

Demons are evil.

Of course I have to catch you.

But your ancestor was also a demon.

Are you sure you want to catch me?

Why are these stairs so...

Where is Ao Ying?

She escaped.

So...

Zhuo

is also a demon?

Zhuo

is a human.

You're confusing me.

After the battle at Mount Buzhou,

Bingyi wanted to live a reclusive life.

Touched by his heroic deed of killing Ying Long,

Nuwa gifted him

the last Five-Colored Stone

left from mending the sky.

And as Bingyi wished,

she removed his inner core

and purified his demonic energy,

changing him into a mortal.

Since then, Bingyi had lived in the mortal world

in seclusion.

So his descendants

are not demons

but humans.

So the blood in the Five-Colored Stone

was from Bingyi?

Although Nuwa respected

Bingyi's wish to become a mortal,

she couldn't bear to see

Bingyi's rare great power

disappear from the world.

So she sealed a drop of Bingyi's blood

in the Five-Colored Stone

and let it be passed down.

That drop of blood

was the last thing from Bingyi

in this world.

For Bingyi's descendants,

it's sort of a way of undoing that decision.

It allows them

to choose their identities again.

So…

Zhuo will become a demon too,

right?

Once the ink drops into the water,

it's impossible to separate them.

Once he starts becoming a demon,

the process can't be reversed.

No.

No, no, no.

You're probably thinking too much.

Mr. Zhuo is a mortal.

He doesn't have an inner core.

Even if he has demonic power,

it can't change anything.

He can't become a demon.

You're right.

That's the worst-case scenario

I mentioned.

A mortal without an inner core

can't absorb and carry demonic power.

Once Bingyi's immense demonic power awakens,

it'll rage through

Zhuo's body

until his veins burst.

All his organs

will be torn apart.

When the demon blood completely takes control,

he'll die.

Is there no way to save him?

As far as I know,

no.

Unless...

What?

Unless we go to the forbidden area of the Bingyi Clan.

There,

we might find a way to save Zhuo.

Ms. Pei,

are we really going to the sacred site of the Bingyi Clan?

The old Mountain Gods said

that's a scary place.

Stop there!

It's you.

I'm here to check on

Commander Zhuo's injuries.

You're like a weasel pretending to be caring.

Or a tiger pretending to be softhearted.

You're like a cockroach…

Everyone knows you're up to no good.

I do care for him.

I'm worried that Mr. Zhuo may die.

Your meridians were crushed by Zhao Yuanzhou's violent demonic power,

but you survived.

How could anything happen to Mr. Zhuo?

Born into a rich family, Mr. Zhuo

is fragile.

You must take good care of him.

Did I hear him right?

He asked us

to take good care of Mr. Zhuo?

Yes.

Could it be that…

he suddenly cares?

it's Wen Zongyu's scheme?

Ms. Pei.

Shall I stop him?

Yes.

Are you hiding there?

What exactly is

the Bingyi Clan's forbidden area?

It's the Bingyi Clan's burial ground.

All their past stories and secrets

are buried there.

At that place,

we might find a way to save Zhuo.

Do you know where that area is?

Of course.

In the Wilderness…

that place is famous.

Then let's go there.

♫Heartlessness births a dream♫

♫The dawn stings without hesitation♫

♫The world and universe sing for me♫

♫Spring, summer, autumn, winter; everything becomes nothing♫

♫Heartlessness births a dream♫

♫The dawn stings without hesitation♫

♫The world and universe sing for me♫

♫Spring, summer, autumn, winter; everything becomes nothing♫

♫Heartlessness births a dream♫

♫My definitions for right and wrong differ♫

♫Bury your pride in the raging river♫

♫Lamenting that all beings are powerless♫

♫Heartlessness births a dream♫

As the old saying goes,

aunts and nephews

are so close

that even if the bones break,

the connection remains.

I didn't expect you

to care so much about Zhuo as his aunt.

I always

tease him by saying I'm his aunt,

but actually,

since I was young,

he has been taking care of me.

Once,

I caught a cold.

My father happened to be away for official business.

So Zhuo

got a doctor for me,

prepared decoctions,

and took care of me all night.

After I recovered,

he fell ill.

I felt very guilty.

But he actually told me that

he was happy

because after I gave him my cold,

I could recover.

He was such a fool,

wasn't he?

The 15-year-old Mr. Zhuo

was still so childish.

He was childish,

but he was also sensible

and strong.

In the year after his father and brother passed away,

he was depressed.

But soon,

he pulled himself together

and became strong, brave,

and independent.

He became the talented swordsman

whom everyone in Tiandu looked up to.

Sometimes,

people become independent

not because they're sensible,

but because…

Because what?

Because they're lonely.

Are you scared?

Don't be scared.

Zhuo

is no longer

the boy he used to be.

He has us.

Yes.

He's not lonely.

♫There are countless rules in this world♫

You're not the only one

in the Demon Hunting Squad.

You don't have to take everything on your shoulders.

Let me do it.

♫But none can compare to "I am willing"♫

I'll go to the Wilderness to find Gui Wood for Mr. Zhuo.

♫If heaven decides my destiny, I'll be its enemy♫

Mr. Zhuo.

I'll definitely bring Gui Wood back for you.

♫I sing under the moon and swing my sword to the wind♫

♫Drunk on the autumn breeze beneath the bright moon♫

♫Penning small verses of a grand legend♫

It's getting cold.

Why are you sitting in the wind here?

Sister,

are you worried about Mr. Zhuo

and Bai Jiu?

Jiu is the youngest among us

and doesn't know martial arts.

He's very timid.

When there was danger,

he always hid behind me and Zhuo.

I wonder how he is now.

Is he scared?

You treat Bai Jiu so well…

like he's your own brother.

I used to be weak and sick.

You got used to taking care of me.

Now that I'm a puppet,

I don't feel pain

or get hurt.

I can protect you now.

But Bai Jiu is different.

He really needs you.

Is that why

you care and worry

so much about him?

Yes.

But Heng

is Heng.

You're never anyone else,

and you'll never be.

No one can replace you.

With you fighting alongside me,

I can protect others better.

I'm happy

that I'm no longer your burden.

I've become your armor.

But...

But what?

Nothing.

Father.

Cloud Light Sword.

Zhuo.

Cloud…

Cloud Light Sword.

Zhuo.

Zhuo.

Where are you going?

Zhuo!
