[A Journey To Love]

[Episode 6]

Wake up.

Wake up.

Buddy.

Wake up.

Yuan Lu, wake up.

Yu. Yu.

Shisan.

Miss. Miss.

Mr. Du.

Mr. Du.

Mr. Du.

There's no water left.

No.

Mr. Du.

Mr. Du.

Careful. Careful.

Lang.

Who…

Who drugged our food?

Your Highness.

Where is Her Highness?

She's not dead.

Are you relieved now?

When can you get the antidote?

We shouldn't talk about that in front of her.

I'm afraid you wouldn't talk about it either when we're outside.

What are you doing?

Don't worry.

It's just incense that can make her sleep like a log.

Can you tell me now?

One of the things you just said

was right.

Apart from assassination,

you're indeed quite naive

when it comes to other things.

Sorry.

We made a deal,

but I'm backing out of it.

Ning Yuanzhou.

You want to break your word?

Stop!

You have no internal force now.

You can't beat me.

Really?

The pain the heart-to-heart butterfly pill can inflict

is unendurable.

If you beg me,

I'll spare you.

How could you, Qian Zhao?

You actually took advantage of me

when I was dizzy.

What a humiliation.

Don't do that again.

Otherwise, we can't be friends anymore.

Why do you refuse to have a baby with me?

Tell me!

Let go of me.

I'll go check it out.

Ren Ruyi.

Why do you refuse to have a baby with me?

We had a deal!

Let go of me!

Help me!

Yu Shisan!

How can I help with that?

Get lost!

Let him go. Take me instead.

You can't avoid me forever.

As long as the heart-to-heart butterfly pill is still in your body,

I can make you

wish you were dead

whenever I want.

Can you?

You're not the only one who's been to Wulingman.

It takes a little wine to kill it completely.

Sorry. We're men.

Don't get him wrong.

I taught him that.

I was once pestered by two young ladies

who were obsessed with me.

You know.

Alright.

Put it down.

Don't worry.

Miss Ruyi is smarter than you.

She knows there's no use to keep pestering me

and won't lose her temper again.

You'll regret it.

What happened?

Don't you trust me?

I'm good at keeping secrets.

Didn't you hear it all outside?

She thought I was good-looking

and tried to make out with me.

But you refused her?

Ning Yuanzhou, are you a man or not?

She…

She'll be your kid's mother.

What happened?

Boss.

-Boss. -Boss.

Don't worry.

Her Highness was just scared.

It's been a tough day for you.

We won't set off tomorrow.

Let's rest for another day.

Go back and rest.

-Yes. -Yes.

Was it really Her Highness who drugged our food?

Why did she do that?

Doesn't Her Highness want to get His Majesty back?

Mr. Du.

Great missions can't be easily achieved.

If everything went smoothly, our plan would be doomed to failure.

Stop worrying.

You must be tired.

Go back and rest.

Qian.

Give Mr. Du some calming decoction.

Okay.

Mr. Du.

Let's go.

Boss.

Is Her Highness really unwilling to go to the State of An?

She's just a little scared.

But thinking back now,

weren't you terrified too

when you first went on a mission with me?

But this matter made me realize something.

The delegation and the caravan were formed in haste

and I haven't taken you on missions in a long time.

That's why your guard was down.

How about this?

From today onwards,

you'll pair up, go on patrol

every two hours,

and have different food from the others.

Yes.

Good night.

I heard a lot of noise in Her Highness's room.

What happened?

You're just a kid. Don't pry into adult stuff.

Wait.

I'm too tall to be a kid.

Ning Yuanzhou.

Wait and see.

My internal force is slowly coming back.

I'll make you pay

for what you did today!

I will

carry your child.

Who's it?

What are you doing here?

Gorgeous, I'm here for you.

Ning Yuanzhou

was such a jerk to you.

But you have to know

he's not the only man in the world.

There are many good men out there.

Like me.

I just turned 30.

I'm as beautiful as Adonis

and as intelligent as Aristotle.

I'm very gentle with women.

I'm a man of courage and dignity.

If you want to have a baby with a man,

I'm your best choice.

Get lost.

They say men should commit themselves to great causes

instead of dying for women.

But I'm glad to die at your hands.

Because that's the only way

to make you remember me forever.

Bring it on.

Don't be easy on me just because I'm hot.

I can take it.

Alright.

It's time for you to go back and take some tonics.

By the way,

he was indeed a jerk.

Stop! You…

Just now,

when he was in the room, I was outside the door.

Earlier tonight,

when he was in the room,

I was outside the door too.

Mr. Ning.

I've long decided to have a baby with you.

We'll live or die together.

You…

Give me a child.

Are so scheming.

Don't you have feelings for me at all?

Don't lie.

You can't avoid me forever.

Boss.

You're still up?

Are you on patrol?

Sorry that you have to stay up late.

It's fine.

We'll go check the backyard.

Okay.

Why is one horse missing?

You're right. One horse is missing.

Mr. Du.

Mr. Du.

Mr. Du.

You'll regret it.

See? You pissed her off and she left.

If I were her, I'd be pissed too.

She wasn't asking too much.

Great. The girl ran away.

Who will teach Her Highness now?

Shut up.

We've found hoof prints.

She's headed to Yuzhou.

Judging from the dryness of the soil,

she left about two hours ago.

I see.

Boss.

Give me the tracker butterfly.

The tracker butterfly.

I'll be back by this time tomorrow.

In my absence,

Qian Zhao will take charge of everything.

Okay.

I'll go with you.

It's he who's going to father a child.

You stay out of it.

And get that feather out of your hair.

What child?

Who's going to be a father?

It's adult stuff.

You're too young to know about it.

I'm an adult.

Can I know about it?

Yu, wait.

Qian Zhao. Yuan Lu.

[Shaxi Town]

[Lianxiang Brothel]

Ruyi.

Get up.

Madam.

Madam, please spare my life.

Ling Long could've escaped,

but for you,

she rushed back to the branch to send the message.

You were her fiancé.

Why didn't you save her?

I… I…

Mr. Yue left me no choice.

Ling Long and I were deeply in love.

But Mr. Yue got a thing for me

and forced me to serve her.

You and Ling Long were deeply in love?

Yes.

She was the love of my life.

We hung out with you in a park once.

Don't you remember?

I really had no choice.

Madam, please spare my life.

Tell me who Mr. Yue is.

Then I'll spare you.

Okay, I'll tell you.

Mr. Yue

is the head of Purple Emissaries

the Scarlet Guards planted in the State of Wu.

Her name is Yue Sanniang.

[Lianxiang Brothel]

After receiving Ling Long's report

that we were exposed,

Yue Sanniang thought

it was a good chance to execute the HQ's order to kill those who knew too much.

So she immediately issued a Cinnabar Order

and summoned everyone back to the branch.

Who gave that order in the headquarters?

It's confidential.

Yue Sanniang didn't tell me.

I-I was just a toy

to her.

Close your eyes.

Madam, you promised to spare me

if I told you who Mr. Yue is.

I'll slit your throat and spare you from being hung.

Madam. Madam.

Since Ling Long was the love of your life,

now that she's dead,

you should die too.

How did you find me?

The tracker butterfly Yuan Lu raised led me here.

When Qian Zhao treated you,

I asked him to add butterfly nectar to your medicine.

As long as you're within a 1.5-mile radius,

the tracker butterfly can find you wherever you are.

You're so cunning.

You flatter me.

I don't understand.

You've known

that Mr. Yue is Yue Sanniang.

Why did you ask him again?

Zhang Song said

information without being confirmed by different sources

is just nonsense.

You're a fast learner.

So,

you didn't plan to go back to the Scarlet Guards to seek justice.

What you wanted was revenge.

Otherwise,

you would've spared the life of Yu, the witness.

Yes.

I'm not you,

who have been abandoned by the Liudao Hall

but are still working for it.

[Yu]

The fourth person.

How many names are on your list?

A lot.

Everyone who harmed Her Majesty and Ling Long

has to pay the price.

So you've long decided

to come here and kill him.

Yes.

I know Yu's hometown is nearby.

I was going to do it tomorrow.

What?

Did you think I had walked away in anger

and left the princess in the lurch?

Don't worry.

Unlike you,

I'll keep my word.

I know you'll keep your word.

But I want to know

whether I'm on the list too.

After we arrive in the State of An,

if you go back on your word

and don't do your best to help me find out who killed Her Majesty,

you'll end up like him.

You can't beat me.

You can't avoid me forever.

The Liudao Hall has the Hell Path.

You should know

that killers are much more patient than most people.

Rest assured.

I'll keep my promise.

But

you have to promise me

not to leave the delegation again

without my permission.

Because every time you kill someone,

you'll attract the Scarlet Guards' attention.

That'll affect our rescue plan

and the delegation's safety.

Why should I promise that?

That's not part of the deal.

Because you want to avenge the empress

much more than I want to rescue

the emperor of Wu.

You need my help

more than I need yours.

Why didn't you move aside?

I tried,

but I was too slow.

I owe you,

so I have to

let you blow off some steam.

I blow off steam by taking lives.

You don't want to kill me.

If I died,

who would find out

who murdered Empress Zhaojie for you?

Yes.

I don't want to kill you.

Your schemes and plots

only make me more attracted to you.

So,

you'll be my child's father.

No way. That's not gonna happen.

What if I threaten to poison the whole delegation?

Will you still refuse me?

Of course.

Because at that time,

your godmother Ouyang's life

will be in my hands.

You want to threaten me with her?

You can't.

She's just my godmother.

I don't even give a fig about my mother's life.

Is that so?

Then why are you putting your life at risk

to kill Lou Qingqiang and Mr. Yue?

Just to avenge

the White Sparrow called Ling Long who was nice to you?

You

are more soft-hearted than you think.

I might

have been a little too harsh just now.

No hard feelings.

Sorry.

What… Ren Ruyi!

You…

Mr. Ning.

What…

You're more soft-hearted than you think too.

Why wouldn't you be with me?

It doesn't hurt

to be with me.

I was once a White Sparrow.

I know

what kind of women men like.

What's your type, an exotic dancer in an Indian tavern,

an elegant lady

from a prestigious family,

an aloof girl with a strong mind,

or a hot chick with a fiery temper?

I can feed

all your fantasies.

Enough. Are you done fooling around?

It's time to go back.

To be honest,

as a White Sparrow,

you were not good at your job.

Yuan Lu, let me help you.

Boss Ning.

Ruyi.

Last night, an emissary from the court suddenly came to Shaxi Town

and sent for Ms. Ren for questioning.

But this matter needs to be kept

from Her Highness and Mr. Du.

Understand?

Yes.

Come with me.

This is what the chief of the Liudao Hall does.

You lie without blinking.

I did that for your good

and to keep the delegation united.

Let me repeat this.

Don't leave the delegation again

without my permission.

Otherwise, I'll call off our deal.

To keep my end of the deal,

I just need to tell the girl inside

about the State of An.

I'm not obliged

to deal with her poisonings and tantrums.

I'll deal with her.

How is Her Highness?

She's awake.

But no matter what I said,

she just kept silent

and wouldn't eat anything.

I'll go check on her.

You're back.

Will you reconsider my offer last night?

I'm really good,

no worse than him.

Yu Shisan.

Ruyi is a companion we must respect.

She's not just a random girl you can tease.

Did I tease her?

I didn't.

Besides, have you ever seen me

be disrespectful or tell lies

to a lady?

She never said she's interested in you,

so when you made passes at her, you were being flirtatious

and disrespectful.

Not to mention you did that in front of others.

Fine.

I was frivolous.

Miss Ruyi.

Sorry.

I promise

not to act like this again.

From now on,

I'll quietly

and wholeheartedly

do everything I can to win your heart.

One day,

you'll realize how much I care for you.

Don't take what Ning Yuanzhou said

seriously.

He's such a hypocrite.

He doesn't dare to pursue you like I do

so he told me off like he's the gentleman here.

He's just jealous.

I'm already used to it.

Your Highness, please have some food.

No.

Let me go back to the capital,

or I'll die here.

Your Highness, how could you say such a terrible thing?

You're Prince Li, the emperor's envoy.

His Majesty's life and the future of Wu

both depend on you.

I'm not Prince Li. I'm a princess!

I'm just a young girl who knows nothing about politics

or the matters of state.

I just want to go back and find out

why Brother Danyang and my sister-in-law

lied to me.

Why?

What are you going to do?

The prince can only bring his valets on this mission.

She's just a maid at the post house

and didn't know your identity.

You just told her who you are,

so she has to die.

You can't kill her!

Please spare my life, My Lord.

As someone in a high place,

you need to be careful with everything you say.

Otherwise, others will bear the consequences.

Your Highness, remember her.

She's the first person to die for you.

You can't do it!

I-I'm a prince.

I order you to let her go.

I don't take orders from women in the court.

You just said

you're a princess.

Don't kill her!

Spare her life and I'll do anything you ask.

Then Your Highness,

would you like some food now?

Yuanzhou.

Are you threatening me?

Why are you still pushing me even at this point?

Fine.

Kill her if you want.

At worst,

I'll hang myself after she dies.

We can keep each other company in the afterlife.

Please spare my life, My Lord.

Her Highness is so heartbroken

that she can't be reasoned with now.

Please spare my life, My Lord.

My Lord.

Please spare my life.

Ask those in the division to lock her away

for a few days.

Let's go.

Ying.

The situation is complicated.

You need to be strong now.

You guys have fooled me into a suicide mission.

How can I be strong?

You know me.

I grew up in the court.

Father didn't like me.

Mother was not around.

Except for Ms. Gu,

none of the maids and eunuchs in the court

treated me

like a princess.

I just wanted to be free.

I just wanted

to save you from penal military service.

So I gritted my teeth

and accepted that fief of 800 households.

I never expected

that my brother

and my sister-in-law…

She's my sister-in-law.

They actually praised

my unparalleled loyalty

and dutifulness

and then sent me to my death

to secure their throne.

How could they? How could they?

Let me talk to her.

Your Boss Ning

is bad at dealing with tears.

It's not what you think.

I don't want to hear it!

Sorry, Yuanzhou.

I didn't mean it.

I didn't mean to hit you.

Does it hurt?

You want to know why?

Come with me.

I'll show you the reason.

Her Highness's daily meals must be prepared carefully.

Help! I'm about to fall!

Ning Yuanzhou, what are you doing?

I'm under the order of Her Majesty and Prime Minister Zhang.

This token means their consent.

All of you, stay out of it!

Yes.

You…

No one can save you now.

I brought you up here

to show you

the country your family rules.

We're in Baisha Town now.

That place

is Shaxi Town.

Further from there

is your mother's hometown, Yuzhou.

Yuzhou is in that direction?

Yes.

Yuzhou is 140 square miles

with a population of 14,500.

It's a fertile land

with rivers flowing across it.

Do you know

how many cities like that

did the State of Wu have?

38 in total.

However,

because of your conceited brother's

reckless decision to lead the army himself,

the State of Wu lost three cities.

A ruler shall bring about peace for his people.

The people shall strive to make their country prosper.

That's how things should work.

But he trusted sycophants

and subjected hundreds of thousands of people to the flames of war.

Men were killed. Families fell apart.

You, of all people, can't ask why this is happening.

But I have nothing to do with that.

I grew up in the court. I don't know any…

You're part of the Yang family,

so it has everything to do with you.

You were in the doghouse and don't know about politics,

but because your last name is Young,

you've enjoyed a luxurious life

that ordinary people can never afford.

Although you're unloved,

as a princess,

you receive at least 500,000 coins a year.

But you know what?

Those who fought alongside your brother on the battlefield

only got 1,000 coins

as compensation after they died.

Really?

The State of Wu was only established about 50 years ago.

Those people

haven't benefited much from your family's rule.

Yes.

You can be afraid of death.

You can escape.

But if something happens to you in the State of An,

none of us can live.

Yang Ying, keep this in mind.

Everyone in the delegation,

from superiors like me and Mr. Du,

to subordinates like the servants and stable boys,

is willing to risk their lives

to escort you

not because they're blindly loyal,

or because they want to get promotions,

but because they want to save the people of the two countries

from the flames of war,

and because they want to vindicate

their brothers from the Heaven Path who died on the battlefield

but were accused of treason.

Am I right?

Yes!

Yes!

You think it's unfair.

You want to escape back to the capital.

You want to ask your brother

what you did to deserve this.

But have you ever thought of

those people who died in the war?

Was it fair for them?

What did they do to deserve death?

When you drugged the delegation's food,

did it cross your mind that if you had used too much drug,

they all could've died at your hands?

Sorry.

Sorry.

Sorry.

Ying.

There's no use crying.

You've made your decision

and have to stick it out.

There's no turning back for you.

The journey to the State of An is dangerous,

but as long as you can be strong and dedicated

from today onwards,

I, together with everyone else in the delegation,

will stand with you in life and in death.

Really?

I swear on my life.

Then I swear

that I won't run away again.

I'll toughen up.

Good.

No one is above the law, not even a prince.

Rules must be obeyed

to maintain order in the delegation.

For his own interest,

Prince Li poisoned the food

and drugged a total of 69 people in the delegation.

I, Ning Yuanzhou, trusted by the country to lead the delegation,

will give him 20 lashes on the palm as punishment.

It's decided.

Can I take the lashes for His Highness?

You can make it 40 lashes.

Mr. Ning.

That's too disgraceful for His Highness.

When he drugged our food,

he already brought disgrace on the royal family.

Say no more, Mr. Du.

It's useless to beg mercy for him.

I have to do this

to set an example.

But

Mr. Du has a point.

It's disgraceful to punish His Highness in public.

I'll punish him in the room.

Remember.

If anyone here tries to undermine the delegation again,

you'll end up like Prince Li.

Yes.

All right.

Go get prepared.

We'll set off in four hours.

Yes.

Please.

Let me do it.

You were just trying to intimidate them.

When no one is around,

I don't think you can bring yourself to beat her.

Ruyi is cutting Her Highness no slack.

Yeah.

Judging by the sound, it must hurt a lot.

She's so cruel.

A cruel woman

is the most attractive.

You actually refused her.

I'll bring flowers to your grave.

I don't want to talk to you.

If you tell me

the real reason why you're willing to dress like a man

and go to the State of An,

I can save the other 10 lashes

for another day.

You're a princess who seldom left the court.

Why do you want freedom so much that you put everything on the line?

Men don't understand,

but I do.

Tell me.

There is

an Imperial Guard

whose name is Zheng Qingyun.

You

want to marry him.

Is that why you're pretending to be a man?

Have you ever thought

if you had escaped last night,

you'd be cooped up in the court

for the rest of your life

and wouldn't be able to see that guard again?

That wouldn't happen.

I just wanted to go back

to ask my sister-in-law for an explanation.

If you did,

would she admit that she'd sent you to your death?

No.

She'd only think of you

as a problem that she needs to get rid of.

Do you really think

you're the only prince of the State of Wu?

No.

The whole world knows

Prince Li has been sent as an envoy to the State of An.

She could've got someone to put on a skin mask

and go to the State of An disguised as you.

That's impossible.

Down on your knees.

How's that possible?

I looked like a prince more than you do, right?

I can pretend to be Prince Li,

but I wouldn't do that.

First,

I'm not from the State of Wu.

Second,

I've realized that you're braver and smarter

than I thought.

You kept whining and crying,

but in the meantime,

you managed to drug the whole delegation.

Your smartness

impressed me.

If you're willing to study hard,

you may become

a more powerful woman than your sister-in-law.

Really?

Why would I lie to you?

I can become as amazing as you

and my sister-in-law?

Yes.

When you do,

you can not only have a grand wedding with Zheng Qingyun

but also break everyone

who bullied you

and looked down on you.

♫My eyes are blazing and my armor is shimmering♫

♫I have feuds to settle♫

♫Who can lighten my darkness?♫

Just like this.

♫Who can see what I've been through?♫

♫Standing on the battlefield, I feel an overwhelming desire to win♫

♫This is when the tide turns♫

Come here.

♫I chose this path myself♫

Do what I did.

♫There's no turning back♫

♫Failure is just a delusion♫

Think about all your hatred

♫I fall into the abyss♫

and pride.

♫Only to soar through the sky♫

Hack it without any hesitation.

♫They stab me in the back but I'll come back stronger♫

Ruyi.

♫My roar shakes the ground when I wield my sword♫

I made it!

I made it.

♫They say I have no future but I'll rock the world♫

Now tell me.

Who are you?

♫The sky is burning♫

♫There is no right or wrong♫

I

am Prince Li of Wu!

♫There is no right or wrong♫

Did you hear that?

Thank you.

You're more thoughtful than me.

There are things

she needs to figure out herself

before she moves on bravely.

Those are just old tricks

I used to encourage my subordinates.

Forget about them.

Send a letter back immediately

to get Zheng Qingyun under control.

At least get him to write a letter back

to reassure her.

Ren Ruyi.

I have a question for you.

What you just did

was not part of our deal.

Why did you help me?

Because I found you appealing

when you were on the roof.

Fine.

See it as a gesture to curry favor with you.

I can't force you to be with me

so I'll worm my way into your heart.

You have a soft heart,

so I believe if I keep helping you,

you'll be moved one day.

If that's your plan,

I have to tell you it won't work.

Because I'll never get attached

to my work partner.

Don't read into it.

I just want to have a baby with you.

I never said anything about attachment.

What's wrong?

Y-You and Ruyi

are going to h-have a baby?

You naughty kid,

what are you talking about?

I…

Boss.

I'm already 18.

How can you still call me a kid?

Even when you're 80, you'll still be a kid to me.

I…

Have you been taking your pills on time?

So you and Ruyi are…

Don't ask.

Go see if the horses are ready.

We're leaving soon. Go.
