[birds chirping]
[dramatic music playing]
[Darra] Why didn't you tell us about the Lotus?
You knew it was dangerous, but you let us keep trying to find it.
I was under orders.
Because of that, Kyra's lost her Orb magic.
What does the Purple Lotus do?
Vannak loathed elves and fairies, so it's safe to say it won't be good for us,
which is why we wanted the keys.
So the Tri-ling Council would never get them.
-Tri-ling Council? -A secret organization of Tri-lings.
It's been in existence for centuries, dedicated to fulfilling Vannak's dream.
Even if the Tri-ling Council had all the keys,
they could never have activated the Lotus because they don't have Orb magic.
-But I did. -You could have told us.
I had to be certain that Kyra wasn't involved in the Tri-ling Council.
The plan was to earn your trust and locate the final key together,
which I would then remove before the Lotus could be activated.
Earn my trust?
By lying to me from the moment you arrived?
By forcing me to have visions, so I'd lead you to the last key?
I'm sorry, Kyra. I was doing my job.
Whatever happens now, you've made me responsible.
[door opening, closing]
Get back to Bangkok. Find a way to stop this thing.
Believe me, things were never meant to work out this way.
Under the circumstances, consider yourself reinstated.
Welcome back.
[instrumental music playing]
-[Ladder creaks] -[magical chimes]
Professor, it's so good to have you back.
Thank you, Lily. I feel the same.
And we all feel bad about you taking blame for the cobra.
Well, I simply did what I felt was necessary.
[Ladder squeaks]
Yes, Ladder, it's wonderful to see you too.
-Anyway, everything's fine now. -Really?
Thanks to Apinya, Kyra's lost her Orb power
to some magical super weapon.
-What's gonna happen with the Lotus? -It's being dealt with, Ruksy.
In the meantime, we should get back to our studies.
-[Ladder creaks] -All right, Ladder.
Go and find your oil can, I'll be there soon.
[Ladder creaks]
Going back to studies seems pretty irrelevant
if something terrible is about to be unleashed.
Oh, it's quite the opposite. Now is precisely
when you need your magical skills to be at your very best.
To that end, we're gonna revise our work on shapeshifting.
Please get copies of volume two from aisle 14.
[whimsical music playing]
[whimsical music concludes]
[instrumental music playing]
It was freaky how Kyra just disappeared. Is she okay?
No idea. Sean made me leave his office. Magic business.
-No humans allowed. -But you're part of the Bureau.
That's what I said.
I've been texting Kyra and Ruksy, but they don't answer.
I know something's up.
-[instrumental music concludes] -[dramatic music playing]
[magic chimes]
[magic chimes]
-You better put that away. -[wand buzzes]
-Tayla. -It won't disappear.
[dramatic music intensifies]
-Stop it! -I'm trying, I can't!
[magic chimes]
If you'd have taken the keys when Maxwell first got hold of them,
-we wouldn't be in this mess. -I did what I thought was best.
No, you put your academic interest in acquiring all the keys
-above the safety of the magical world. -I would never do that.
Those above us may have a different opinion.
[Kazuhiro] Give it a rest, Mendoza.
She feels bad enough.
What are you doing?
-[wand shoots] -[box clatters]
[exhales deeply]
That wasn't me.
-[grunts] -[customers chuckling]
The table was kind of rocky.
What just happened?
Why do we have to read volume two of the shapeshifting book
when all this other stuff is going on? And why even is there a volume two?
Once you can shapeshift, what else is there to know?
Maybe it contains a troubleshooting guide.
Like if you wanted to become a rabbit and ended up an elephant.
-What are you doing? -It isn't me!
I can't make it stop!
[Ruksy exclaims] Me either!
-What's happening? -I don't know!
-[shrieks] -[groans, gasps]
[groans]
[magic chimes]
[dramatic music concludes]
How are you feeling?
Angry, betrayed, manipulated.
Take your pick.
Don't be too hard on Apinya. She was doing her job as she saw fit.
Apinya lied from the moment she arrived.
I don't want anything more to do with her.
Let me tell you about the Apinya I used to know.
-[Lily] Professor! -[Ruksy] Professor, we need your help!
Aisle 14!
Professor!
-Professor! -Professor!
Professor!
-What are you doing? -It's not us, it's the wands!
-[Professor Maxwell] Put them away! -We can't!
-What's going on? -We don't know!
What? Why can't we stop this?
[wind whooshes]
[suspenseful music playing]
[suspenseful music fades]
-How did you do that? -I don't know.
Let's get these books cleared up.
What made this happen?
I think it's the Purple Lotus.
-It's disrupting our magic. -What if I'd been on a tooth run?
I could have multiplied the teeth or filled a room with coins or…
-or chickens. -Chickens?
-I don't know. -[Ruksy] Lily's right, Professor.
Anything's possible if we can't control our magic.
-How do we stop it? -I don't know that we can.
But that means we'll never be able to use our magic.
[Ruksy] Magical outbreaks will happen and we won't be able to stop them.
-Our magic won't be secret anymore. -We won't be secret anymore.
All right, let's everybody take a breath.
[Imogen] How come Kyra's magic still works?
I'm not an accidental Tri-ling.
But Maxwell said you were.
[Professor Maxwell] Indeed I did.
Since then, new evidence has come to light.
My birth father was a Tri-ling.
You didn't know?
He left Mom when I was a baby.
I never knew him.
-Your mother must've known. -Maybe she was planning to tell me,
but she's gone, so I'll never know.
But that means…
I was born magical.
-[squeaks] I always knew you were special. -[gasps]
I suppose that means I have to be nice to you now.
I wouldn't want you to go to any trouble. [chuckles softly]
[cell phone ringing]
It's Peter.
[Peter] Kyra was born magical?
And the Lotus is messing with your magic.
-Anything else I should know? -[Ruksy] Well the day's still young.
[Peter] Any chance Apinya can shut the Lotus down?
I had to make a total fool of myself in the cafe
when Tayla's wand went nutso.
A total fool, what's new?
Ha-ha.
[suspenseful music playing]
[magic chimes]
Better do something, or your magical secret
won't be a secret much longer.
Not again. [grunts]
Peter, help me! [grunts]
-Make it stop! -I can't!
[grunts]
[both grunt]
[Peter pants]
[bike wheels swivel]
So, natural-born Tri-ling, when were you going to tell us?
I advised Kyra to keep it quiet.
As you well know, Tri-lings aren't exactly popular
in our world.
[bell rings]
Ah, customer.
-We should throw Kyra a party. -Let's get through this first.
I'm gonna go check on Tayla.
[magic chimes]
Whoa.
That wasn't me.
[glass clinks]
[magic chimes]
[Tayla] Is this gonna keep happening?
Apinya's working on shutting the Lotus down.
I'm sure it'll be okay.
Uh-oh.
My wings won't go down.
We need to get you out of here.
-Is there a back door? -[Tayla] We're on a boat!
[alarm blares]
Fire drill! Uh, sorry everyone, you'll have to leave.
No charge for the refreshments! Quick as you can, come on!
-[alarm blares] -[indistinct chatter]
[sighs] We need Kyra.
[whimsical music playing]
-[groans, pants] -[pants]
[both laughing]
-Tayla's got wing trouble. -The Lotus again?
-Seems so. -[magic chimes]
-[metal clanking] -Darra?
[suspenseful music playing]
[grunts]
Get back!
[wood splintering]
Professor, help!
Isn't he meant to be tiny and in a fish tank?
My magic went wrong and made him come alive.
-[Professor Maxwell] Jump! -[Anton growls]
I can't!
Run!
-Are you okay? -No. What if my wings pop again?
What if somebody sees?
Where'd the professor go?
-[Anton growling] -Anton, look! It's your old enemy.
Agent Swift, come and get him.
[breathes shakily]
-Hey, helmet head! -[Anton growls]
-Back to your fish tank! -[magic zaps]
[sighs]
[Darra] Our magic doesn't work, but yours does?
Much obliged.
Maybe the Lotus is making your magic stronger.
[Darra] You can't keep doing this, Kyra.
You can't save every elf and fairy when things go wrong.
Any sign of it? How are we gonna find it?
The professor taught us to try and think like the object,
work out what it wants.
What does a riderless bike want?
Peter, there!
Finally.
[pants] Come back!
[grunts]
[grunts]
[mumbles] Stop!
[grunts, groans]
-Use the brakes! -[groans] They don't work!
Ruksy, do something!
[Peter groaning, yelling]
-[yells, groans] -[crashing]
[groans]
Are you all right? [pants]
Yeah, yeah, just a bit bruised.
I'm so sorry I couldn't help.
I didn't want to make things worse by using magic.
[pants]
It's okay.
Ruksy. It's okay, I'm fine.
It's fascinating how its power fluctuates.
The Lotus is still coming to life.
So let's destroy it.
We don't know the effect our magic might have on it.
The Lotus needed Orb magic to start up.
Taking that away might shut it down.
[Apinya] Maybe you're right.
Kyra acquired Orb magic once.
Perhaps she could do it again.
Do you really think Kyra's going to help us
after everything you did to her?
[suspenseful music playing]
[Apinya] Kyra.
[Kyra] I've said everything I have to say to you.
Did you ever wonder why only you got the Orb out of the book?
I used to think it was an accident.
But now I'm fairly sure it's because my birth father
-was a Tri-ling. -[Apinya] His name is Li Yung.
My unit's had his family under surveillance for a long time.
-So, there's more you kept from me. -For good reason!
Li was a member of the Tri-ling Council.
No way, not my father.
When the Tri-ling Council located the Orb of Lemuria
in a glacier in New Zealand,
Li knew they'd use it to activate the Lotus.
So he tipped off the DMI.
After that, he vanished.
For the past 15 years, there's been no trace of him.
Mom said he suddenly sent us away.
I thought it was because he stopped loving us.
Your father loved you very much, Kyra.
He was protecting you.
He sent you away so the Tri-ling Council would never find you
and force you to fulfill Vannak's plan.
How do I know you're not making this up?
I would never lie to you about your father, Kyra.
Li was a good man.
He sacrificed his happiness to keep you safe.
You can stop the Lotus, Kyra.
-How? -By getting the Orb magic back.
The Lotus can't function without it.
You have a chance to save the magical world.
You must take it.
You lied to me from the start.
You really expect me to trust you?
[boat horn blowing]
This shake has double chocolate ice cream,
chocolate fudge, and double chocolate flavoring,
with a hint of raspberry.
I invented it when I was six.
I call it the "Brown Out," guaranteed to pick you up.
Hey, it's not that bad.
Yes, it is.
How can I keep working or going to school
when I don't know if my wings are going to appear
or my wand is gonna go crazy?
-There are people working on it. -Yeah, but what if they can't fix it?
I'm sure it's going to be okay.
[scoffs] You really need to get better at lying.
[sighs] Look, whatever happens, happens.
We'll get through it.
Until then, we make the most of what we got.
-That is really good. [chuckles] -[chuckles] Told you.
Thanks.
[door opening]
[door shuts]
[Steve] You wouldn't believe my day.
I've been fielding calls from people swearing
they've seen a bicycle wheeling around without a rider.
What a waste of police time.
You okay, sweetheart?
Did Mom ever talk about my birth father?
-Where's all this coming from? -[Kyra] Just tell me, okay?
I know that she was pretty torn over how things ended between them.
Did Mom ever say why he left?
Not really.
She wondered if it might be to do with his family, but…
she always got along well with them.
So, he just went?
It was quite dramatic.
One day, Michiko brought you home from the park, and Li was there.
He handed her a bag, some money,
and a couple of plane tickets and told her she had to go.
He didn't say why?
Michiko begged Li to tell her, but all he said
was that their marriage was over, and that she must never contact him again.
Must've been awful.
Regardless of how things turned out with Li,
I know Michiko would never have married anyone that wasn't as awesome as her.
[chuckles]
-I'm proof of that, right? -Sure, Dad.
[soft music playing]
[Ruksy] My magic is out of control.
I could have hurt you, or worse.
Stop worrying, Ruksy, I know you didn't mean it.
I've always been so good at magic. What if I can't rely on it ever again?
I'm sure it won't come to that.
You heard Apinya.
No one knows what the Lotus is capable of.
I'm sure she or the DMI will come up with a solution.
Meanwhile, people have started seeing magic.
Imogen's right, the secret's getting out.
What if none of us can ever use magic again?
-Who'll stop the magical outbreaks? -There'll be no more need for the DMI.
Or the Bureau.
[suspenseful music playing]
[liquid pouring]
[magic chimes]
[screeching]
[dramatic music playing]
[dramatic music concludes]
[Apinya] The Lotus is growing stronger. Its power is increasing.
Magical disruptions are registering everywhere.
No one is safe from the Lotus. We have to do something.
-If you have any suggestions… -[magic chimes]
Kyra?
I'll do it. I'll try getting my Orb magic back from the Lotus.
-Thank you for trusting me. -This isn't about trusting you.
It's about saving my friends.
[dramatic music plays, concludes]
