[A Journey To Love]

[Episode 40]

Here, slowly.

Okay.

I'm fine. I'm fine.

Come on, bro.

Hang in there.

Sit here.

Okay.

The doctor will be here soon.

It hurts a little.

I'm fine.

I'll get some water.

It's okay.

Just apply some medicine and you'll be fine.

Thank you.

Let me wrap it up for you.

Thank you.

Here.

Here.

Boss.

Not counting those outside the city,

there are already more than 600 people

who died on the city walls.

They were all stoned to death with riprap by Beipan people.

Boss, forgive me.

Forgive me.

It's not your fault.

Don't think about it.

Focus on recuperating.

Take him away.

Hang in there. Hang in there.

It's almost done.

Hang in there.

Hang in there.

Come on. Hold him down.

Okay.

Dongzi.

The lamb soup is ready.

Get up and drink it now!

This lamb soup is really good.

Dongzi, wake up.

Get up and have a sip, Dongzi!

Dongzi.

The young ones are all gone.

We're the only two old guys left.

Tell me if you leave.

♫Suddenly encountering the joy of meeting and the sorrow of parting♫

♫Like rain and snow flying everywhere♫

Do you regret

that I tricked you out with the name of a beautiful princess?

What's there to regret?

♫Just like the tears in the corners of our eyes♫

In this lifetime,

I, Yu Shisan, will drink the strongest wine

and look at the most beautiful ladies.

Make the best friends

♫They're so close to falling♫

and fight the most magnificent battles.

I'll get going.

-See you in the city. -See you in the city.

♫I'm afraid the world is like water♫

♫Not between the eyebrows, but in the heart♫

♫Drowning you and me, there's no way out♫

♫I don't dare ask♫

♫If this tragedy♫

♫Is the end of our story♫

Yuan Lu, don't run!

Wait!

Chase him! Don't run, Yuan Lu!

Shisan!

♫I'm afraid the world is like water♫

Beat Yuan Lu up!

♫Not between the eyebrows, but in the heart♫

I hate you.

♫Drowning you and me, there's no way out♫

♫I don't dare ask♫

♫If this tragedy♫

♫Is the end of our story♫

♫Beautiful dreams are like fragile bubbles♫

♫But I'd rather have bubbles than have nothing at all♫

♫Time ticks by♫

♫Everything I want is slipping away♫

♫I fear that dreams will wither and turn to ash♫

♫ I can't tell if I'm awake or drunk♫

♫Time, would you not go by so fast?♫

♫The old days are gone forever♫

♫Time, would you not go by so fast?♫

♫The old days are gone forever♫

You're here.

Were you thinking of Shisan?

Yu Shisan...

has told countless lies in his life.

But this time, he told me

he was leaving...

and he really left.

Ying cried with Chu Yue for a long time.

She said

Yu Shisan's wishes have all been fulfilled.

He should be very happy.

Ruyi.

From now on,

promise me.

Okay.

I haven't said what you should promise me yet.

I know.

I won't die.

You too.

Okay.

Yuanzhou! Ruyi!

Ruyi, wake up!

Yuanzhou!

What's wrong?

Bad news.

Li Tongguang left a letter.

I don't know what's wrong with him.

He left the city in the middle of the night.

He said he was going to assassinate Beipan's king.

Master.

I couldn't lead the army well,

and even caused the death of hundreds of prisoners,

Yu, and Deng

because of my momentary benevolence.

Attention, generals!

Attack!

Split into two wings

and flank the rear

to surround Beipan on both sides!

We suffered heavy casualties because I, the commander-in-chief, was incompetent.

I couldn't be the hero you want.

So, I can only try to assassinate Beipan's king.

If I succeed,

He County still has a chance of survival.

If I lose,

I can still die heroically in battle

and for my country

like you said.

And I wouldn't drag Yang Ying down.

I'll leave

He County to you.

From Jiu.

This fool.

How long has he been gone?

I don't know.

But two hours ago,

he was still there when I woke up in the middle of the night.

Jiang Qiong, guard the city tower.

I’ll go find Duke Qing.

Yes.

Jiu's over there.

I'll go and save him.

No.

You're more injured than I am.

I'll bring him back.

I'm his master.

Because you're his master,

I'll definitely bring him back.

Ruyi, trust me.

You guard the city. I'll go.

Listen to me this time.

Remember our oath.

I'll never forget it.

Leader of Shaxi.

I'll leave the city's defense to you and Ruyi.

Let's go!

Shoot!

There are bombs! Watch out!

I don't want you to save me!

I'm not saving you!

I'm saving the An people

and the State of An's regent.

It's easy for you to die.

But who'll clean up the mess?

I don't care.

Do I have to stand by and do nothing

when Deng Hui and Yu Shisan

died because of me?

Come back!

Listen.

If anything happens to you now,

within two hours,

the news of Duke Qing being captured by Beipan

will spread throughout the world.

Then, the State of An will be in chaos,

and there will be no leader in the court.

Is this what you want,

Li Tongguang?

Attack the city in full force!

Take them down!

I know you feel guilty.

But now's not the time to be impulsive.

I'm incompetent.

Listen!

This is no time to apologize and blame yourself.

You have to take the responsibility.

You have to bear the failure

and the pain of losing your comrades.

So for us,

you have to shoulder the burden on your shoulders.

Understand?

Okay.

Now,

let's go back together.

Let's go back alive.

Okay.

Let's go.

You're following me without a fight.

When did you become so obedient?

I can't let Master down anymore.

I can't let you down anymore either.

You've improved.

I've taught you so much.

Why don't you call me Master?

Master! Boss Ning! Ning!

Satisfied?

Why are you so reluctant?

It's not enough. Say it again.

I know you're stubborn.

Do you see the siege engine there?

We'll run over

and climb up the wall along the siege engine.

Okay, let's run together.

You go first. I'll cover for you.

No, you can't be my shield.

What are you thinking?

I'm Ning Yuanzhou, Liudao Hall's leader.

In this world, only your master can hurt me,

no one else.

No!

Listen to me!

Listen to me.

Promise me one thing before entering the city.

After you go back,

don't act on impulse again.

Only when you stay composed can we survive

and can An people

have hope.

I swear.

♫My eyes are blazing and my armor is shimmering♫

♫I have feuds to settle♫

♫Who can lighten my darkness?♫

♫Who can see what I've been through?♫

Good.

Good.

Go.

Go!

♫Standing on the battlefield, I feel an overwhelming desire to win♫

♫This is when the tide turns♫

♫I chose this path myself♫

♫There's no turning back♫

♫Don't even dream about♫

♫Still manipulating me♫

♫What nonsense♫

♫I fall into the abyss♫

♫Only to soar through the sky♫

Fire Caltrops! Give them to me!

It's all used up!

♫They stab me in the back but I'll come back stronger♫

♫My roar shakes the ground when I wield my sword♫

♫They say I have no future but I'll rock the world♫

♫The sky is burning♫

♫There is no right or wrong♫

♫There is no right or wrong♫

Your Highness!

Go up now!

Ning!

Go up!

Yuanzhou!

Pull him up now!

Shoot!

Hurry!

Comrades.

I'm sorry...

I broke my promise.

♫Life is as unpredictable as the wind♫

♫I roar but no one can hear me♫

♫I don't know what the future will bring♫

♫Snow falls on the flames of war, and the setting sun is as crimson as blood♫

♫The night is dark and cold, and the day is long and hard♫

♫You can see on my face that I'm determined to venture out into the storm♫

♫We drink and sing, not knowing these are the last of the good days♫

♫Storm clouds are gathering♫

♫A life of service♫

♫I only wish to fight the evil and defend the good♫

♫Let's go through ups and downs together♫

♫The dark night seems endless, but we'll wait for the sky to lighten♫

♫Don't blame me for having big dreams♫

♫A life of service♫

♫I only wish to have the courage to overcome all difficulties♫

♫My sacrifice is worth it♫

♫I make hard decisions to change the world♫

♫Hope we're all safe and sound when the dust settles♫

You broke your promise again.

Although we've defended it this time,

Beipan will stage a comeback soon.

Master.

I'm sorry.

You did nothing wrong.

Actually, I've wanted to kill Beipan's king long ago.

But I haven't found the right time.

The only thing you did wrong

was that you wanted to do it by yourself.

Have you forgotten

that I'm the State of An's best assassin?

Master.

Ruyi.

Ruyi.

We can't wait anymore.

At dawn,

Beipan people will come back with new weapons

to attack the city.

Li Tongguang.

You once told me

that my wish

is your command.

As the State of An's regent,

can you keep your word?

Yes.

Give me the State of An's national seal.

Okay.

I have the national seal and this.

It's enough.

Ruyi, you can't.

You can't take it too hard.

I'm just going to finish what Yuanzhou couldn't accomplish.

How's that taking it too hard?

Look.

It's snowing again.

[Beipan, Left Worthy Prince's tent]

The State of An's empress dowager and the new emperor

were kidnapped by Duke Qing, Li Tongguang.

It seems like the city is about to be destroyed.

The empress dowager doesn’t want to die.

But she's more afraid that Duke Qing would force her to die.

The empress dowager gave me 50 taels of gold

and secretly sent me out of the city.

She just wants to beg you

to spare her and her son's lives.

By the way,

the empress dowager

still has the State of An's imperial jade seal.

Really?

This is the hairpin when the State of An's empress was conferred the title.

The empress dowager said

to use this

to show her sincerity.

The empress dowager is only in her twenties.

So...

So, she's a stunning beauty.

The empress dowager knows that after surrendering to the north,

she'll probably have to enter the royal tent.

But the empress dowager

doesn't want to be with an old man like the king.

As long as you're willing to marry her as your legal wife,

the empress dowager said

she's willing to give you the national seal

and she'll strive to ensure her Shaxi tribe surrenders.

Okay.

Okay.

At midnight,

I'll escort the empress dowager out of the city.

To avoid drawing Beipan king's attention,

I'd like to borrow some of Beipan's military uniforms for convenience.

Fortunately,

there are skilled tailors in this city.

Although we were pressed for time,

it was finally completed.

It’s fine.

It's enough to fool Beipan people.

Ying.

Lend me what Yuan Lu

gave you.

Ruyi, can you...

The wolf is Beipan people's totem.

But the young male wolves in the pack

never stop challenging the wolf king.

It's been a long time but He County hasn't been destroyed yet.

There's long been a rift between the father and son,

Beipan's king and the newly-appointed Left Worthy Prince.

If I can seize this opportunity

and succeed in one blow,

Beipan's army will be in chaos.

No matter when reinforcements from the State of Wu come,

you'll all have a chance of survival.

As for you two,

one's the wife of a duke,

and the other's the Female Leader of Shaxi.

You've to do your jobs well.

Don't let men look down on us.

Okay.

If I fail...

That's impossible.

Yuanzhou said

that you're

the best assassin in the world.

Exactly.

I'm the best assassin in the world.

I've never failed.

Master.

The comrades of Liudao Hall and Scarlet Guards

have disguised as Beipan soldiers.

They'll help you lure Beipan's nobles into the tent.

Get along well with Ying.

I know.

I'm the State of An's regent now.

I only shed blood,

and not tears.

Move aside.

Left Worthy Prince is colluding with the State of An's empress dowager with an ulterior motive.

My lord. Wake up, my lord.

Something happened over there.

You want to rebel?

Father, let me explain.

I'm the State of An's empress dowager.

This is the State of An's national seal.

Whoever can save me

will get the national seal.

Arrest her!

You're an assassin?

Yes.

He's not the only one I want to kill.

I don't want to hear you

talk about mishaps anymore.

You told me

you'd be with me forever.

As long as I want to protect you,

I'll be able to protect you.

From now on,

I won't let you get hurt again.

I'll bustle around like shooting stars with you

and enjoy experiencing the world with you.

I know.

But you're not alone now.

♫Drinking in the windy snow as the snow turns to ashes♫

♫Lamenting that separations are irrevocable♫

♫How many years has it been?♫

♫Having to sober up♫

♫After losing the one to spend the rest of my life with♫

I'll always be waiting for you.

Yuanzhou.

You're gone.

It's too lonely for me...

in the world.

Kill!

In the first year of Tianyou,

the states of An and Wu fought Beipan in He County.

Duke Qing and his wife personally supervised the war.

There were massive bloodshed and corpses strewn everywhere.

Then the assassin Ren Ruyi,

with Scarlet Guards and Liudao Hall's members,

annihilated all Beipan nobles in the tent,

including Beipan king and the Left Worthy Prince.

Emperor Wurui led his army to provide reinforcement, and achieved a great victory

and chased Beipan outside of Tianmenguan.

My brother is here!

Ren Ruyi was posthumously conferred the title of Marquis Xuanping.

Since the war, Beipan has been in dire straits

and moved to the north,

never invading the south again.

Your Highness, Leader of Shaxi.

His Majesty wants you

to hurry back to the State of An for the monarch's coming-of-age ceremony.

Okay.

You guys go ahead. I'll take a walk by myself.

Yes.

Aunt, did I scare you?

I'm sorry.

Uncle Ding just gave me this horse.

It doesn't quite listen to me yet.

My dear child.

What's your name?

My name is Ning Shisan.

Shisan, as in the number thirteen.

Don't tell me...

your mother's last name is Ren?

How did you know?

I also have a sister.

Her name is Ren Lu.

She took my mother's last name.

♫Passing barren lands and dangerous buildings by horse♫

♫Rain flows outside the window at night♫

Your sister must be very beautiful.

She's not as beautiful as me.

But she has a bad temper.

♫Holding a sword of frustrations from the world♫

She also always bullies me.

♫Hiding gentleness deep within♫

But Father dotes on her the most.

♫Wandering through the world with wistfulness in the heart♫

My dear child.

♫Turning freedom into a boat that crosses the high hills alone♫

I like you so much.

Can I visit your house when I'm free?

♫Passing through the clouds, love remains in the wind and moon♫

No problem.

Welcome.

My home is in the academy dozens of miles away.

Aunt.

Do you like drinking? Are you skilled with swords?

♫Swords drawn in the breezy snow loaded with immense joy♫

My father can make the best wine

and my mother can perform the best sword choreographies.

♫Invite the spring breeze to join me; drinking with the sword's gleam♫

If you like those things,

you'll get along.

♫Drowned countless sorrows♫

I like them.

We'll definitely get along well.

♫Spending half a lifetime drunk and miserable♫

♫Break free of the heart's confines and settle the grudges♫

♫The moon has set, and you have left♫

♫I've been stumbling on this journey to love♫

♫If this is somehow a game of fate, I'm glad to play it with you♫

♫You mended my broken heart and it beats for you now♫

Aunt, why are you crying?

♫I don't care what people will say♫

♫I don't mind being nobody as long as I'm somebody to you♫

♫Time flies but love remains♫

♫Who knows what the future will bring?♫

It's sunny and breezy here,

♫When the wind rises and the snow falls, it's your love that keeps me warm♫

with lush, green grass and birds in the air.

It's the most beautiful scenery

♫I'm in too deep to turn back♫

I've seen in my life.

♫What I want for us is a happy ever after♫

♫We're nobodies but this great love story will go down in history♫

Let's go.

Take me to your house to have some fun.

Okay.

[The End]
