[A Journey To Love]

[Episode 33]

[Next day, Liuli Fortress of the State of An]

Boss.

Ruyi and the others...

I haven't heard from them yet.

How are His Majesty and Mr. Du?

Chief Clerk Du has woken up. He's fine for now,

but His Majesty's injury...

Qian said that whether he can survive or not

depends on tonight.

Where is the name clearing edict I asked you to prepare?

Here.

I've tried my best to draw the flower seal.

Worst case scenario,

just say that His Majesty was badly injured and couldn't hold the brush.

That's why the flower seal doesn't look right.

We only need his fingerprint now.

Qian, take a rest.

Even if you give all your internal force to His Majesty,

it won't help.

No.

We haven't arrived yet.

He can't die here.

Even if he dies, he has to resolve the matter.

-But— -Let him be.

Qian is from the Heaven Path

and is in charge of the palace guards.

It's his duty to save His Majesty.

A military flag?

I ascended the throne when I was young.

I was immoral and reckless,

mistakenly listening to treacherous people,

and dragged the army down.

Fortunately, Chai Ming's group

of 16 men from the Liudao Hall's Heaven Path were brave and loyal.

They used their lives

to help me escape.

I feel guilty to Wu,

all the officials, and the people.

I was too ashamed to live,

but the men of the Liudao Hall were fearless

and saved me from danger.

They should be rewarded heavily.

Your Majesty.

The edict.

The edict.

Your Majesty, it's here.

I already read it.

Keep it safe.

I'm sorry to everyone.

Your Majesty.

He's just exhausted.

His life is not at risk anymore.

Come out with me.

I didn't expect

that His Majesty wrote the name clearing edict himself.

Since he is fine now,

Qian Zhao,

I’ll leave the rest to you.

You're in charge of taking everyone

to send His Majesty back to the State of Wu safely.

Aren't you going back with us?

Are you going to the An Capital?

Yes.

Her Highness is still in the State of An.

She has been timid since she was young.

I can't leave her alone.

Okay, we'll go with you.

No need.

Go with Qian and the others

and bring His Majesty back safely.

Liar.

Will you still come back?

I told you on the way.

Beauty is saving Her Highness.

Even with Beauty's skills, there still hasn't been any news.

I'm afraid...

Your internal force is unstable

and problems occured twice at Donghu Lake yesterday.

You're not going back to save people.

You're going back to die.

Boss.

I'm not going back to die.

I've had countless life-or-death experiences,

but I never died.

It's fine.

Here, Qian Zhao.

The task of

His Majesty and clearing the Heaven Path's name

will be yours now.

Here.

I'll leave my old residence to you.

Take good care of it for me.

Sun Lang,

help me take good care

of the Wu Capital branch.

If I can't come back

and Her Highness still has a chance of survival,

promise me

you will take care of her as your own sister.

There is no "if."

Take care of your own sister.

Yes, I won't do it either.

I'm so busy taking care of

the dogs and cats every day.

Boss Ning, you come back

and take care of the brothers of the Wu Capital branch yourself.

You are the chief of the Liudao Hall.

If you want to clear the name

of your brothers,

you should do it personally.

You always ask me to stay and look after the old residence.

I'm sick of staring at it.

Boss,

this is the medicine I use to save lives.

There's only one pill.

Boss,

Apart from the rescued Prince Li,

no one else died here?

Many civilians were watching that night.

It's true.

So, has the entire Wu delegation escaped?

I heard they entered Donghu Lake for the rescue

when the imperial city was in trouble

and escaped amidst the chaos.

Don't tell anyone I was here.

Yes.

I see it. Around 1.5 miles that way

and 1.5 miles ahead,

this radius must be investigated.

Let’s go, Mr. Du.

Look at the situation.

We can't delay any longer.

I'm not leaving.

Since Mr. Ning was willing to return to the An Capital

for Her Highness and Ruyi,

how can I shamelessly escape?

Besides,

Her Highness saved my life.

But you're seriously injured.

Besides,

Boss has been gone for hours.

You can't catch up to him.

I can.

No matter how many days it'll take,

I must rush back to the An Capital.

Since I receive a salary,

I must show loyalty.

I left the Wu Capital with Her Highness originally.

I must finish what I started.

If Her Highness and Mr. Ning...

I will bring them back.

Mr. Du, wait.

Your Majesty.

Brave and loyal,

you are a pillar of the country.

I have nothing special on me.

I can only give you my cloak.

When you return safely,

I'll welcome you warmly in the Wu Capital.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Return safely.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

[Mansion of Marquis Changqing]

Li Tong—

Who are you burning paper money for?

Impossible.

Impossible.

Ruyi is so powerful.

Even Yuanzhou can't beat her.

How could she...

Weren't you promoted to Duke?

Don't you have military power?

Why didn't you save her?

Who is the murderer?

Who is the murderer?

Who is so vicious and despicable?

Tell me. I will kill him.

Mind your own business.

His Majesty has no time to deal with you now,

which is why I can let you stay here for a few days.

You'll suffer when he refocuses.

It's not like he can kill me.

He may not kill you,

but he can also

send you to the frigid lands of the Shabei Tribe to herd sheep

or throw you out of Mount Guan.

The Beipan people

would definitely love a treat like you.

Whether they keep you for themselves

or use you ask to ask the State of Wu for a large sum of ransom,

both are good deals.

You can cry if you want.

After tonight,

we may not have time to be sad anymore.

No.

I can't die like this.

Ruyi said before

that only weak people would commit suicide.

[Xingshuo Men]

Your Highness,

we'll wait for you outside.

Your Majesty, greetings from Li Tongguang.

I have brought Prince Li of Wu as ordered.

Greetings, Your Majesty. I am Yang Ying, the Prince Li of Wu.

Your brother escaped successfully.

You must have contributed a lot.

I don't have much to congratulate you with.

There are three things here.

Just pick one.

You want to force me to commit suicide.

Aren't you afraid of the people's criticism?

Criticism?

Prince Li of Wu colluded with the Beipan people to enter Mount Guan

with the intention of disrupting the State of An.

This is an unforgivable crime.

Is taking my life

this important for you

to regain your dignity?

You must be so furious

at being held captive by a Scarlet Guard traitor

before all of the officials.

Give Prince Li another cup.

-How dare you! -Your Majesty, do you think

that I'm trying to provoke you

or I'm speaking nonsense before my death?

You are wrong.

Duke Qing.

I

just want to make a deal with you.

What trick are you pulling now?

If you accept it,

it will not only help you stabilize the political situation,

but also help you effortlessly clear

your crime of colluding with Beipan.

Okay, I’m listening.

Continue.

Originally, you wanted another country's princess as the empress,

but you never found a suitable candidate.

I can help you fulfill your old wish.

I'd like to hear

how you can help.

Yang Ying, the Princess Licheng of Wu,

greets the King of An.

Your Majesty,

you've probably seen reports of how I am weak as a woman,

but I actually am a woman.

My father

only has three princes, including my brother,

Brother Danyang, and Brother Ying.

To save my brother,

I disguised myself as a man and risked my life,

but they abandoned me

in the face of danger.

At this point,

I no longer wish to be loyal to Wu.

Your Majesty.

Judging by their journey,

my brother should still be within the State of An,

while Brother Danyang, who is supervising the country,

still hasn't received the news

that they have escaped.

In this case, why don't you take advantage of this

and announce that you've reached an agreement with my brother?

You sent him back,

while I'm left beind to become the empress of An?

Become the empress?

I will also have nine cities as my dowry, including Zecheng, Miancheng, and Jicheng.

This way,

once His Majesty returns,

he will definitely have a conflict with Brother Danyang

over the cession of the cities.

In the end,

no matter who wins,

both will suffer great losses.

By then,

he will definitely need your help

and form an alliance with him.

I remember

that both of your princes are disappointments.

Don't you want a new legitimate son

to scheme for Wu's land

as the child of both countries?

At that time,

who would remember that you bought horses from Beipan in the past?

You are truly brave.

If I weren't brave,

I wouldn't be able to support my ambition as the empress.

No wonder

the State of Wu sent you

to be the emperor's envoy.

My brother has already escaped.

Was I not successful enough?

You were very successful.

However,

shouldn't you change your tone now?

Don't refer to yourself as the prince anymore.

You are the empress now.

Why are you so anxious, Your Majesty?

I can change my title

after the empress's edict is announced.

That's true.

Pass my order.

Princess Licheng, please move to the Outer Changhua Palace.

Serve her according to the empress's level.

She is granted

half of my carriage procession.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Duke Qing, come here.

In Siyi Pavilion,

I have a beloved...

Help me contact Yuanzhou.

Tell him I'm fine.

Tell him not to rush to save me.

We can talk about it after my brother is safely sent back to the Stae of Wu.

You really are a girl?

Ruyi personally taught me

every day for more than two months.

If I couldn't even fool you all,

then I would've truly let her down.

But you couldn't do something so crazy

without telling me anything.

You wouldn't actually save me.

I could only save myself.

You said the emperor of An likes interests the most.

The most valuable thing on me

is my so-called royal blood.

Li Tongguang, on this one point,

you and I are no different.

Do you think it'll be easy to be the empress?

Do you think His Majesty is that stupid?

Just a few empty words—

At least,

he's willing to take the bait.

At least,

I won't be thrown to the north to herd sheep anymore.

A few days ago,

Yuan Lu asked me

what I would do

if I could return to the Wu Capital safely.

I couldn't answer it back then.

Now, I know.

I don't want to

go back to that cold harem,

marry a prince consort that I don't know,

and become an ignorant noble lady.

That feeling just now,

that feeling of

holding your destiny in your own hands,

felt great.

Yuanzhou said

you want to be the highest-ranking official.

Then,

compared to supporting the Third Prince born by a servant,

wouldn't you have a better chance of success

by supporting the son of a princess?

You're planning quite into the future.

The old man isn't even letting you stay inside the palace.

He doesn't believe you at all.

Yes,

my actions are restricted,

so please

find the remains of Ruyi as soon as possible

and bury her.

Otherwise,

don't blame me for slandering you before the emperor of An.

I will do my best for my master's funeral.

However,

I hope you can wait until you're officially the empress

before you order me around.

Is my carriage ready?

Depart.

Ruyi,

I don't know if what I did was right or wrong,

but I'm certain

that I like this feeling.

I swear

I won't run away anymore.

I will become strong.

I am the emperor's envoy.

Those who insult me

will be killed without mercy.

I

am Prince Li of Wu.

Do you know about how

Prince Li is actually a princess?

What do you think?

Princess Licheng has a grand title,

but she is actually a pawn sent by the State of Wu to die.

In terms of power and age,

this marriage is not suitable.

Besides, if the new empress really has a son,

aren't you afraid

that Wu will instead take advantage of the marriage

to take over the State of An?

After all, you are a warrior in battle.

What if one year...

Are you cursing me?

The day you pass,

I will follow you underground.

What I just said might sound like critique,

but they are sincere words from my heart.

Deng Hui,

only you dare to say

these sincere words in front of me nowadays.

Critique isn't all I can say.

The engagement can be announced,

but the edict should be vague.

Betroth Princess Licheng to the State of An

for a marriage alliance.

Your Majesty, don't forget

that Second Prince doesn't have a wife yet.

A crown princess is much easier to control

than an empress.

Chief?

[Liudao Hall An Capital Branch

How is Her Highness?

Her Highness is fine.

She stayed in the Mansion of Duke Qing for a few days.

Today, she moved to the Outer Changhua Palace.

I even took a look from afar

-outside the palace. -What about Ruyi?

Any news about Ruyi?

Where is her body?

The morning before yesterday,

Scarlet Guard Commander Deng Hui personally led people

to cremate her in public at the Scarlet Guards' headquarters.

Chief Jin and her people

hid among the Scarlet Guards and saw it.

It's indeed Left Emissary Ren herself.

Chief, I'm sorry for your loss.

I've thought about it already.

It's okay.

It's okay.

It's okay.

We all lead dangerous lives.

We've long become numb to death.

Prepare some food and wait outside the palace.

If Her Highness escapes

and leaves the outer palace,

remember to report her whereabouts to me.

Gather the men

and prepare the weapons.

Yes.

What farewell do you want me to say to you?

What's the point

if I tell you?

♫Suddenly encountering the joy of meeting and the sorrow of parting♫

I'll come back safely.

♫Like rain and snow flying everywhere♫

♫Just like the tears in the corners of our eyes♫

Try it.

♫They're so close to falling♫

♫I'm afraid the world is like water♫

♫Not between the eyebrows, but in the heart♫

♫Drowning you and me, there's no way out♫

♫I don't dare ask♫

♫If this tragedy♫

Is it our real endinga♫Is the end of our story♫

♫Beautiful dreams are like fragile bubbles♫

♫But I'd rather have bubbles than have nothing at all♫

Satisfied?

Turn around.

Again?

How much do you like seeing turns?

♫Time ticks by♫

♫Everything I want is slipping away♫

Not bad.

♫I'm afraid the world is like water♫

♫Not between the eyebrows, but in the heart♫

This color is too bold.

It looks good.

♫Drowning you and me, there's no way out♫

I'm a chief, but this makes me look like a groom.

This is the one.

♫I don't dare ask♫

♫If this tragedy♫

♫Is the end of our story♫

♫Beautiful dreams are like fragile bubbles♫

♫But I'd rather have bubbles than have nothing at all♫

♫Time ticks by♫

♫Everything I want is slipping away♫

It's all yours.

♫Beautiful dreams are like fragile bubbles♫

♫But I'd rather have bubbles than have nothing at all♫

♫Time ticks by♫

♫Everything I want is slipping away♫

Stop talking.

I'll come back safely.

♫I fear that dreams will wither and turn to ash♫

♫ I can't tell if I'm awake or drunk♫

♫Time, would you not go by so fast?♫

♫The old days are gone forever♫

♫Time, would you not go by so fast?♫

♫The old days are gone forever♫

Ruyi,

I'll come to you

after I save Ying.

Urgent news!

Urgent news!

The emperor of Wu escaped.

Urgent news!

Is anyone here? Get me another horse.

[Posthouse in the State of An]

Is anyone here?

Anyone? I must send a message.

The emperor of Wu escaped. Capture and bring him to the capital.

Thank you. You won't be delivering this message.

Set the sky lantern.

Yes.

Set the sky lantern.

Shisan, it's safe ahead.

Okay.

It's snowing heavily.

We've been travelling every day.

Remember to take care of yourself.

Have you taken the pills?

Ning is so thoughtful.

He disabled all the mail pigeons

and An posthouses along the way.

Otherwise, the pursuers would be on our tails.

Yes.

Shisan,

why don't we find something to eat?

Everyone

has worked hard these days.

Okay, let's go.

I'll get some water.

Okay.

Ding Hui.

Yes.

Come.

Take two men to get some water with me.

Yes.

Where are we?

Your Majesty,

we'll reach He County in one more day.

He County?

Yes.

It's where we were defeated by the State of An.

We'll finally come to an end

after this long journey.

The victor becomes the king. The loser becomes the outlaw.

I've let the people of Wu down.

You can have a good rest when we get to He County.

I promise

you'll be able to sleep comfortably there.

Half of the carriage procession?

Princess Licheng?
