[A Journey To Love]

[Episode 20]

No matter who it is,

as long as they get near the posthouse,

you must check them carefully.

Yes.

Oh, right.

Especially women.

Yes, sir.

Sun Lang.

Qian.

Didn't I tell you to check them carefully?

What happened?

Did a sheep stop you in your tracks?

Mei...

There's no plump sheep.

Only this little sheep.

Do you want it?

I think she's just a sheep seller.

Yes.

Sun Lang, take her to receive payment for the sheep.

Yes.

Thank you.

Lord Ren.

I'm late.

Please forgive me.

You're not late at all.

You came at the right time.

Liu Li, who used to serve me...

I saw her too.

After bidding farewell to you the last time,

as per your orders,

I've been keeping a close eye on Scarlet Guards.

When I was rushing to He County yesterday,

I received a messenger pigeon from Jinbao Inn

of the State of An's Huzhou, about 70 miles away from here.

The owner said there's a woman staying there

who wears the old-style earrings of Scarlet Guards,

so he took note of her.

Later, an old guard recognized

that she's Liu Li who used to serve you.

I know

that after you faked your death,

Liu Li was expelled from Scarlet Guards.

I had a feeling that her sudden appearance now is not a coincidence,

so I changed my schedule

and rushed over to inquire about it.

Lin Lang?

Liu Li?

Unexpectedly, I hadn't gotten a few words in

before she started to probe me about

whether

you're still alive.

I pretended to be shocked to bait her.

Soon, she said

-that she's... -She's with Li Tongguang now.

And Li Tongguang asked her to rush here

to confirm if I'm Ren Xin.

Just as you expected.

Then what did you tell her?

I just tactfully analyzed it for her

from her perspective.

I know

Liu Li had a tough time after leaving Scarlet Guards.

Marquis Changqing took her in

and even made her...

his personal attendant.

That's how I realized

that Little Marquis treats her well

only because

she was close to you back then.

But if you were still alive,

she'd have to take a step back.

With Liu Li's personality,

I'm afraid she took your harrowing words to heart.

No wonder,

when she saw me in An's Army Camp,

she wasn't that shocked.

I'm sure she'll be resolute when she tells Li Tongguang

that I'm just a look-alike of Ren Xin.

I owe it to your quick wit.

You flatter me.

I'm more than happy

that I could be of help to you.

But there's one thing

I still can't figure out.

With how well-informed

your Jinsha Pavilion is,

how did you not know

that Marquis Changqing is Jiu?

And why did you say nothing

when I mentioned him before?

I apologize for my wrongdoing.

I don't want an apology.

I want the reason.

Little Marquis has met you several times.

Can't you tell

he has ulterior motives for you?

It's not how a disciple regards his master,

but that of a man to a woman.

Little Marquis almost went crazy after you left.

No.

He'd already gone crazy.

Master!

Little Marquis thought you really

died in the imperial prison's fire,

so he disobeyed orders and bribed the guards

to sneak in every night

and dug through the ruins bit by bit by himself.

Fortunately, in order to help you escape back then,

I disguised the situation

by hiding some corpses in the ground.

Only then did he stop like he'd uncovered treasure.

[Tomb of Ren Xin, former Left Emissary of the State of An's Scarlet Guards]

The imperial court said you were a sinner who killed the late Empress

and forbade you to be buried.

Little Marquis secretly buried the fake bones

in a secret cave.

From then on, on the 15th of every month,

as long as he's in An Capital,

he'll go and pay his respects

without miss.

Previously, I thought

this was just his way of respecting his master.

But it was only after I joined Jinsha Sect

and accepted a job from Second Prince to investigate Marquis Changqing,

that I found out

he'd held the imperial painter, who'd met you, captive

and had many portraits of you painted, which he kept in his residence.

He also found all the clothes

you wore before,

to pay homage to you.

Besides, no matter who it was,

he refused all marriage proposals.

You think too much.

The reason he refused the marriages

is largely because of Princess Qingning.

Lord Ren.

Both you and I have been White Sparrows.

This is the most basic way a man expresses...

All right, enough.

So you saw

that I'm intimate with Ning Yuanzhou,

so you avoided mentioning Li Tongguang.

Yes.

Thank you.

But Ren Xin

is long gone.

Just like you, Meiniang,

who's no longer Lin Lang.

Scarlet Guards taught us a lot

and hurt us a lot.

We can't forget the past,

but we'll never go back to the past.

When I'm done with my matters,

I want to do something meaningful

like you.

If I could be of help to the former Scarlet Guards,

it'd be even better.

Sometimes, I also feel conflicted.

I'm trying to seek revenge from Scarlet Guards,

but I still want to help them.

Lord Ren, it's because you're compassionate.

I wonder what you want to do then?

I want to join too.

The reason a woman becomes a White Sparrow,

apart from having cruel parents,

is mostly that she had limited access to education since she was young.

She's naive and unable to protect herself.

That's why she's easily deceived.

So I want to gather the White Sparrows

who were abandoned by Scarlet Guards

and teach them how to make a living.

Good idea.

Can I lay claim to

being the abacus teacher first?

I can also...

Wait.

Can Mr. Ning

also teach them...

We...

We came all the way here.

But we don't know if we still can stay together

in the future.

That's not bad either.

Anyway, Mr. Ning is handsome.

No matter what, you won't lose out.

I know many

handsome and talented men too.

All kinds, from young and handsome,

to mature and dignified ones.

Don't let him hear this.

Otherwise, he'll tear down your Jinsha Pavilion.

As for General Yuan's matter,

Mr. Du, please write a letter

to Lingzhou's regional inspector.

After we bring His Majesty back to the capital,

it'd also be considered as their contribution.

Okay, I'll go now.

Why didn't anyone tell me Jin Meiniang's here?

Did your old injury flare up?

I'll go find Qian.

It's okay. It's an old ailment.

Don't tell the rest.

Don't hurt the army's morale.

Jin Meiniang isn't here for you.

She's here for Ruyi.

I know.

But you can't let them

stay together for too long.

You don't believe me?

Right now,

Jin Meiniang is full of weird ideas.

If you let her lead Beauty astray,

you two will...

Tell me.

What's so weird about me?

Boss.

Marquis Changqing is here.

He wants to see Ruyi,

His Highness, Chief Clerk Du,

and you.

I'll cut to the chase.

Previously, your princess suggested

that as long as I'm willing to help you

bring back your emperor of Wu,

you'll offer Yuncheng and Miancheng to me?

That's right.

Fine.

I agree.

And I can guarantee

that you can succeed in a month.

Just tell me your conditions.

Give her to me.

And I'll make your wish come true.

How dare you!

Princess is my sister.

You're the ones begging me.

I'll give you one night to think about it.

Tomorrow at 10 a.m.,

you either send her to me

or

prepare to collect Yang Xingyuan's corpse.

Stop there!

Do you think you can insult Princess at will?

Mr. Ning.

Interesting.

You're asking for me,

but you don't even dare to look at me.

Turn around!

Look into my eyes.

Tell me.

What do you want me for?

Do you want to punish me to be a slave

to repay for your humiliation today,

or do you want me to be your shameful concubine

and entertain you every day?

No.

No way.

I'll be good to you.

How?

Will you ask the imperial painter to draw hundreds of portraits of me

and fill your secret room with them,

or will you dress me up in the Scarlet Guards'

old clothings

like I'm a live doll?

How do you know about that?

The entire Scarlet Guards' Wu Capital branch

was taken down by Liudao Hall.

Why do you think we don't know about that?

Li Tongguang.

Li Jiu.

You want me to go with you

just to be a substitute of that person.

If I lecture you like this,

has your wish come true?

How ridiculous

and preposterous.

Don't say that, Master.

I'll say it again.

I'm not your master.

I'm Princess Huyang of Wu.

What you thought was your biggest secret

was not protected well at all.

Who can you hide it from after you ask me to join you?

The two princes of the State of An

would be so happy to find out that you hid the enemy state's princess

in your residence.

King of An is so paranoid.

He neglected you for so long before he promoted you.

Yet you want everything to go back to where it started.

And what about your unmarried Princess Jin Ming?

Tell me.

If she suddenly finds out

she has a Wu princess as a sister,

she must be really delighted.

Aren't you stupid

for being so careless?

Have you forgotten what it took

for you to climb to this position?

Have you thought about how once you lose the emperor's trust,

you'll have to go back to living a life

where you're looked down upon by others?

Have you thought about

how disgusted your master will be

when she finds out

that you harbor shameful desires

towards her?

I don't.

I don't. I don't!

No?

Really?

I don't.

I don't.

It's resolved then.

Watch and learn.

An unbridled request

is often one's biggest weakness.

Ruyi. Ruyi.

What?

Did I say anything wrong?

No.

♫The sword reflects the cold radiance of the frost in the passes and mountains♫

Why are you looking at me like that?

♫Life and death in the martial world♫

♫For whom chivalrous men cross the river together, there is no regret♫

Ning Yuanzhou.

What's wrong?

When we were inside just now,

♫We were once in love♫

they didn't hear that sentence you said,

but I did.

♫Right and wrong, happiness and sorrow♫

I know you must be very sad.

♫But my world is tearful now when the spring breeze blows♫

You have to watch your disciple

become a total stranger.

♫Drinking in the windy snow as the snow turns to ashes♫

But for us,

you reopened old wounds.

♫Lamenting that separations are irrevocable♫

It was nothing.

♫When I look back, it's the end of the earth; where do I go from here?♫

I know you're strong.

About what happened before,

♫When the wine is cold, who will get drunk with me for the rest of my life?♫

I'm sorry.

I don't need your sympathy.

But I need you.

Ning Yuanzhou.

Don't do this.

You can't

solve our problem like this.

I know.

But as long as you're by my side,

as long as you need me,

I'll always be there for you.

♫Drinking in the windy snow as the snow turns to ashes♫

♫Lamenting that separations are irrevocable♫

♫When I look back, it's the end of the earth; where do I go from here?♫

♫When the wine is cold, who will get drunk with me for the rest of my life?♫

♫A loyal heart broken yet remains fearless♫

♫Hoping to be together in a dream, just to meet you♫

♫How many years has it been?♫

♫Having to sober up♫

♫After losing the one to spend the rest of my life with♫

Marquis.

Marquis.

What's wrong?

General Wu is still waiting at the army camp.

Stop talking and get in the carriage first.

Keep it a secret.

She said

I harbor shameful desires for Master.

They're talking nonsense.

You only have

admiration for Lord Ren.

There are assassins!

Their formation is like Scarlet Guards' Flying Flower Formation.

The southwest position is generally the weakest.

Scarlet Guards?

Let's fight first.

Here. Get up.

You're hurt.

-To save me… -Enough.

Attack!

Why are there still so many people?

Attack!

Release the whistling arrow!

Yes, sir!

A whistling arrow warning?

Marquis Changqing is in trouble.

It's of the An Army style.

It's about a mile away from here.

The He County's office and army camp are within three miles.

It's Jiu...

It's Li Tongguang.

I'm aware of his martial arts skills.

He's not much weaker than Qian Zhao.

If they were bandits,

he wouldn't have asked for help with the whistling arrow.

Okay, let's get ready

to go and save him.

Save him?

Does he need our help, Boss?

The An people can see the whistling arrow too.

An people are further away as compared to us.

Besides, if they're martial arts experts,

it's useless for ordinary soldiers to go there.

If we don't save him

and something happens to him,

the peace talks will be affected.

But if we save his life,
