[drumroll]
[cheerful electronic music]
* *
- [laughs]
- [whimpering]
Uh! Wah!
* *
- [exclaims] [frog ribbits]
[frog croaks]
- [laughing]
- Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!
* *
[car horn honks]
[toy meows]
- Ta-da!
- Ah! - Ugh.
- [chuckles] [whistles]
- Whoa! Ah!
- [chuckles] - Aww.
* *
[cheerful music]
- [babbling]
[giggling]
[bells jingling]
- Phillip?
- Can't believe I've been using hands all this time.
- Aw, great work, everyone!
Now we can--
[bells jingling]
- Santa?
- [giggling]
- [chuckles] Dil can really kick now.
That's going to come in handy someday.
- Sure, just like throwing his paci does.
- Are y'all ready for a day in the great outdoors?
- You know it!
SPF 2,000 right here.
- First, the Kanga-Cam app,
so we always have eyes on the kids.
Now...
[all giggling]
[dramatic music plays]
all: Survival time!
narrator: Three hardened survivalists have signed on
to spend 31 days
in one of the harshest environments on Earth.
They will do whatever it takes to survive,
which begs the question, could you be like them
and "Never Be Afraid"?
- Yeah! I can!
narrator: Here in the Outback,
the team needs to work together
to find water, food, and shelter.
Each contestant is allowed to bring
one item to help them all survive.
Kimberly brought a double-walled
stainless steel pot for water purification.
- Oh, yeah!
narrator: Jason brought an industrial-grade
fruit-grabbing mechanism for food collection.
- I brought this.
- Thanks for the ride.
narrator: And Mark brought a triple-woven
100-foot hemp rope for shelter building and--
a fuzzy sweater?
- I thought we could bring two items.
Plus, I was taught to always pack a sweater.
[percussive music]
Ahh! Ow!
A baby kangaroo!
Where's its mama?
- Not our business.
We have a shelter to build,
and I need to dig in that mud to find water.
- And the way I hunt, we'll be cooking up
an 8-foot snake in no time.
- My man!
- Mama!
- Mark doesn't have his head in the game.
Sure, a baby kangaroo needs its mother,
but that's not why we're here.
We're here for one reason, to be a team.
- Hey, what's up?
- Out. My interview.
- [gasps] Did you all hear that?
This baby "kanga-room" needs its mama.
- He does seem to be looking for somebody.
- [gasps] I gotsa idea.
Let's go to the Outcrack and take this kanga-room
home to its mommy.
Grab some stuffs we might need.
[whimsical music]
[bells jingling]
- So Dil's coming?
- Why? He doesn't do anything.
- [farts]
- He can do one thing.
- Oh, we haven't seen all the stuffs
Dil can do on a a'venture
'cause he hasn't been on one yet.
- This is where I think we should
put the supporting wall.
Because if you put it, like--
- Lift it up off the ground.
- Too far to, like, off center--
- Let's elevate it.
- The entire thatched roof will collapse.
- Elevate it. - Also, you gotta make sure
you weave the palm fronds-- - Elevate it!
- Together. Like, it's kind of--
- Turn around! - Snake!
- Look out! - It's right there!
- Some survivalists.
They can't even see when something's slithering
right past their noses.
[bells jingling]
[didgeridoo music]
- [gasping]
[birds squawking]
- Maybe we should set up camp afore we look
for the kanga-room's mommy.
Susie, you and Chuckie look for water.
Phil and Lil, you look for food.
And me and Dilly will build a shelter.
- Not to be picky, but didn't Dil knock down
the last thing we builded?
[babbling]
[giggling]
- Okay. Now let's hop and hop and hoppity-hop.
[percussive music]
- [straining]
Come on, Dilly.
I'll get the sticks, and you can tie it with this rope.
- [babbles]
- We'd all love to be chewing our hands right now, Dil,
but we got work to do.
- I think there's some better sticks over there.
Be right back, Susie.
- So I'm not sure we're going to get you back to your mama
as soon as we thought on account of one of us
doesn't have their head in the brain.
- [babbling]
- [groans]
- Put your back into it.
- The macadamia nut is highly nutritious
and takes 300 pounds of pressure to crack.
- Oh, come on, Jason.
You can't even open one little nut?
[straining]
- Stu, let me.
I have a little trick I learned from a fellow woodwind player
to avoid unnecessary finger strain.
Ha-ha!
- [giggling]
[percussive music]
* *
- Ahh!
Wow, Dil.
I've never seen you wave your arms like that afore.
But right now, how about you sit over here?
- [panting]
- Keep squeezing, Chuckie.
Almost got a spoonful of water.
- Good, 'cause I'm kind of thirsty.
- Whee! [giggling]
- Ahh! - Dil!
[dramatic music]
- Wow, Dil.
You gave the baby kanga-room a drink of water.
Thanks.
That wasn't all the water, was it?
I don't want Dilly to feel bad.
- [babbling]
- Dil, I know you're still little,
but you gotsta help us out on this a'venture
or else the others won't think you're ready to come with us.
- [fussing] - Oh, don't cry!
- [sniffling]
narrator: As the sun begins to set,
temperatures in the Outback can fall to life-threatening lows.
Our contestants were able to make a fire
using nothing but a stick, a rock, and persistence.
- Big deal.
I could start a fire with nothing but hot breath
and a pile of dry leaves.
- Or a used match and a stick of gum.
- Who even needs a fire?
- Duffy, can you turn up the heat?
It's kind of cold in here. [Duffy chimes]
- Ooh, I thought-- - Good call.
- You'd never ask.
- [straining]
- Allow me, Lillian.
[grunting]
Ooh.
[groans]
Hey.
I'm good at this food gathering stuff.
- Wow. You two got that fruit?
- [grunts, giggles]
- Dil!
Phillip workeded so hard
to find that fruit by sitting on it.
- It's not his fault.
Dil doesn't know anything about food.
- Yeah, we've all been wondering,
what does he know about?
- Oh he's helping me build this shelter over there.
It's almost finished.
I just need to tie these sticks together with my rope.
Uh, where is my rope?
[snake hisses] - [screams]
[all gasping]
[gulps, hisses]
- [gasps]
[snake gulps]
- Whoa.
- Dil! A snake isn't a rope.
And don't you know that we need food
and water and shelter and--
- [whimpering]
- Oh, acourse you didn't know that stuffs.
I should never suspected you to.
You all were right.
Dil's not ready to come on our a'ventures.
[somber music]
* *
[microwave beeps] - [gasps]
- Hot wild yams!
Eat up, teammates.
- She's not even gonna mash them?
- Pathetic. - Yam rookie.
[boom] - [screams]
[all gasp]
- Did you hear that?
I bet that's the kanga-room's mama!
- [panting]
[bells jingling]
- Dil, now is not the time to ring socks.
We're trying to listen.
Please, Dil.
[growling]
[whimpering]
[all gasp]
[suspenseful music]
* *
[kangaroo purrs]
- [giggles]
- Wow!
Dil called the kanga-room's mama to find her baby.
- It was bootiful.
- Good job, pal.
- Tommy, we never should have doubted you.
Dil is ready to come with us.
- Thanks, Chuckie.
But there were some times on this a'venture
that I kinda doubted it myself.
- Buh, buh!
- W-what's he saying?
Ball? - Bug?
Bean?
- [gasps] Beanbug!
- Buh buh!
- I think he's saying "brother."
- Buh buh.
Buh buh.
[squirrel squeaking]
narrator: So in the end, the team came to realize that
returning a joey to its mother was
just as important as their own survival,
because how can one thrive if a baby is lost?
all: Aw!
[squirrel chatters]
all: Ahh!
[sighs]
- Did either of you think, just for a second,
that our kids had been replaced by giant, evil squirrels?
Me neither.
- But if they had, we'd figure it out.
We're survivalists.
- [babbling]
- Great work, team!
[grunts]
- [giggles]
Buh buh!
- Yep, he's saying "brother," all right.
- [babbles]
Buh buh!
[cheerful music]
[ominous electronic music]
narrator: Reptar is on a mission to meet up
with the greatest explorer in the galaxy,
his mama, Reptilda.
- [affectionate growl]
* *
narrator: Reptilda has been traveling across
the far reaches of space to help those in need.
Hot lava? No botha!
[all cheering]
Mission accomplished.
Now Reptilda can finally see her son, Reptar.
Reptar arrives at Terafirma,
a rocky planet in the corner of the galaxy.
All that's left for him to do is wait--
for the next episode of "Reptar in Space."
- But I don't wanna wait.
I want them to be together now.
- I didn't even know Reptar had a mommy.
- Acourse, Lillian.
Everyone gots a mommy.
- [gasps] Phillip!
- Chuckie, where's your mama?
- Oh, I'm not 'zackly sure.
Sometimes I hear my daddy talking to her,
but when I look, there's nobody there.
- Ready to head out to the lake?
I downloaded a knitting podcast for the drive.
- And I'm bringing my top-secret chili recipe.
Chas, the place has a full kitchen, right?
- Uh, yeah, yeah. I think so.
The house Melinda and I used to go to was booked,
but I--I found another one nearby.
- Melinda loved the lake. - Yeah.
I haven't been back since she passed away.
Anyway, check out this new spot.
It has got the most incredible view of the water.
[downbeat music]
- [gags]
- Well, apparently some things on the internet
aren't what they seem.
- [chuckles] I hear you.
That is how I accidentally ordered a life-size replica
of Lord Crater's spaceship.
- [chuckles] Accidentally.
- Huh. And what happened
to the Super Swing Set out back?
- "Swinging into action next year."
Nice picture though.
- I'm sorry, guys.
- So this isn't exactly what we thought it'd be.
We'll make it work.
- Plus, we can't leave now.
The kids totally love the backyard.
[cheerful music]
[Phil and Lil giggling]
- I've seen these rocks before.
- Wait a sec.
This is the planet where Reptar's meeting his mama.
narrator: That's right, bespectacled astronaut.
Reptar is on full alert, awaiting his mama's arrival.
- [snoring]
[ship whirs]
- Reptilda!
- Whoo! - Yay!
- [roars happily]
narrator: Reptar's got the perfect day all planned out.
And it starts now.
- [growls] - [stomach growls]
- Reptar, maybe she's hungry after all that space travel.
If it were my mama, I'd make her a picnic.
- [growls]
- He likes that idea.
- So do I.
[cheerful music]
* *
- Behold! My secret chili recipe.
- Whoa.
In a locked steel briefcase?
- How spicy is this recipe anyway, Stuart?
- Hot enough to melt your socks.
- I do get acid reflux.
- Mild it is.
Okay, no.
Oh, no, what was the code?
[strains]
I've tried my birthday, Deed's birthday,
Tommy's birthday, our wedding anniversary.
- Oh! High school locker combo.
- Nobody remembers their high school locker combo.
- 4-22-88.
- I stand corrected.
Oh, nope.
Come on, briefcase!
- Oh, honey, it'll come back to ya.
I'll put the groceries in the kitchen.
[yelps]
[crows cawing]
narrator: Eager to fill their bellies,
the intrepid space explorers settle down for a picnic
of chocolate, milkshakes, and breakfast burritos.
- My mama loves milkshakes and burritos.
- Do they make chocolate burritos?
- 'Cause they should.
- If I could have breakfast with my mama,
I bet she'd like all that stuff too.
- [growling]
narrator: Careful, Reptar.
Make sure that lid's on tight or--
- [grunts] narrator: That will happen.
- Oh, no!
- It's okay, Chuckie.
There's still the burritos.
* *
- [grunts, farts]
- [growls]
- Oh, Reptar's picnic is a disaster.
I want it to be--
I mean, Reptar wants it to be perfect.
- [giggling]
- [burps]
- See, Chuckie?
It all worked out!
- Oh, thank sevens.
Why don't you two play a game of rolly-ball?
- [excited roar]
[upbeat electronic music]
- Roll the ball to your mama.
- [grunts]
[growls]
- [roars]
- Or throw the ball.
And now you throw back to Reptar.
- [growls]
narrator: Uh-oh, Reptar!
Watch out for that--
[thuds]
Very, very deep crater.
- Oh, everything is going wrong.
[cheerful music]
- [sighs]
I'm pretty sure not all of that stuff
was chili ingredients.
Ugh, okay, this is not my recipe--
or anyone's recipe.
What went wrong?
- I think it might have been the asparagus.
- No, no, that's not--
of course.
I forgot the secret ingredient.
- Oh, what is it?
- Uh, I don't know.
- It's okay, Stu.
It's a new chili.
[chuckles] Everything doesn't have to be
exactly like it was before.
- [whimpers]
- [clears throat]
Uh, you guys all right?
- I'm just chopping some onions for my famous chili.
I can't do it, not without my recipe.
I just wanted to make something great for Chas
for his first time back at the lake, but I goofed up.
- I'm sure it's not that bad.
I was wrong.
- What if we come up with a new recipe together?
- Couldn't be any worse than this.
What do you say, Chas?
- I say let's go for it.
Thanks, everyone.
[upbeat music]
[crow caws]
[ominous music]
- Oh, don't worry, Reptar.
I have plenty more ideas for you.
I bet your mama loves flowers.
- [growls]
[flower yelping]
- Hey! Get back here, flower!
[dramatic music]
* *
narrator: The race is on!
And now it's coming to an end, a sudden one at that.
[thud]
Ouch!
- [growling]
- [flower sings mockingly]
- Ahh!
- [flower yelping]
- Okay, so that was a bad idea, but there's lots more things
you could do like play tag or watch the sunset
or roll down a hill.
[watch beeping]
narrator: Sounds like time's up.
Reptilda has to report for another mission.
The galaxy needs her.
- Already?
They didn't get to finish doing stuff.
- Aw, look how happy they are, Chuckie.
- [growling] Whee!
- But the day is over.
They didn't get to do everything they wanted.
This was the only time Reptar and his mama have together.
What if it's not enough?
I--I just don't want Reptar to miss his mama,
because I--I don't want him to feel sad
like I do sometimes.
- Aw, I'm sorry, Chuckie.
- It's okay.
I like thinking about my mama.
[sniffles softly]
It makes me happy--
mostly.
[uplifting music]
narrator: Before Reptar's mama leaves,
she gives Reptar a gift.
Reptilda knows that whenever he looks at this tinfoil heart,
it will remind him of their time together.
That way she'll always be with him
even when she's gone.
[ship whooshes]
- [roaring]
[gentle music]
- Guess what, Chuckie?
I got a little surprise for you.
His name is Reptar.
[chuckles softly]
- My mama might not be here anymore,
but when I talk to Reptar, I feel like she can hear me.
Maybe she can see me too.
- If she can, I bet she liked today.
- I do too.
- It was the bestest day ever.
- Way to go, Chuckie.
- I never noticed afore that Reptar was smiling.
* *
[owl hoots]
[bug light zaps]
- [babbles]
- It's spicy, sweet, tart, smoky deliciousness.
Even better than my secret recipe!
- Chef's kiss!
- Oh, new traditions.
- Wait, did anyone write this recipe down?
- Klasky Csupo.
