(male narrator) Jellystone Park. A tourists haven.
With its quiet glades.
Its quiet streams and lakes.
And of course, its not so quiet
Yogi Bear.
Boo-Boo, do you mean to tell me that you woke me up
from my bear-type catnap, to ask me a question like that?
But I'd like to know, Yogi.
And you're smarter than the average bear, Yogi.
I do have more than a smattering of ignorance, Boo-Boo, buddy.
Well, it says in this book that all people born between
"October 24th and November 22nd are Scorpio."
- No kidding. - That's what it says, Yogi.
What is a Scorpio?
Scorpio? Uh, let me see, uh.
Oh, yeah, I got it, Boo.
A Scorpio is a big insect
and he has a stinger on his tail.
Gee.
Mr. Ranger is a-a Scorpio.
- A stinger on his tail? - Well, uh, it's hard to tell.
He's always wearing those khaki pants.
[laughs] Uh, let me look at that book.
Uh, here, Yogi, see for yourself.
"Astro-illogical signs of the zodiac."
"Birthday signs."
'Uh, why did you mention, uh, Mr. Ranger?'
Because today is Mr. Rangers birthday.
Sheesh. And I didn't even send him a card.
I made him a pipe out of a corn cob.
At least it's better than what I got for him.
- Nothing. - Where are you going, Yogi?
I'm gonna find Mr. Ranger and, uh, congratulate him.
After all, Mr. Ranger is the best friend a bear ever had.
- 'Yogi.' - Mr. Ranger, sir.
I've been looking all over for you.
- Put her there. - Oh, no.
I wouldn't be sure I'd get all my fingers back.
Oh, you're sharp today, sir.
And no wonder, considering this is your big day.
Yes, this is my big day.
This morning, I got the okay to ship you to the St. Louis Zoo
the next time you filch a picnic basket.
- Who? Me, sir? - 'Yes, you, Yogi.'
So, watch it. One slip and you've had it.
And I can't say I'll be sorry to see you go.
The ranger ain't fooling me, no polishing of apples
just to get me to give him a present.
'A guy like that deserves a real big birthday party'
and I'm gonna see that he gets one.
[laughs]
But, Yogi, you know this restaurant
is off limits to you.
It's against the rules to give you any food.
I know that, sir, but it's not for me
it's for Mr. Ranger's birthday party.
'And since he thinks you're the greatest chef'
'since Escoffier.'
- Did he say that? - I get tired of hearing it.
I do have a certain flair with a toasted cheeseburger.
I'll tell you what, Yogi.
I'll bake you a nice birthday cake to give him.
You, sir, are one of the good ones.
What's that up ahead, Stan?
Search me. Looks like a bear.
screech
Welcome to Jellystone Park.
'You can insure your car against any possible innocent damage'
by the wildlife, by contributing some goodies
for the underprivileged animals.
Oh, boy, what a racket.
Give him the chicken sandwiches, Stan.
'I've heard about these bears.'
Here. Now, beat it.
Thank you, sir. I hope your stay is a pleasant one.
(male #1) 'Ah, phooey.'
Mr. Ranger isn't gonna like that, Yogi.
But all these tourist type goodies
are for his birthday party, Boo-Boo.
I know, but.. Uh-oh, here comes Mr. Ranger now.
Yogi, what are you doing?
(Yogi) 'Just, uh, sprucing up the park, sir.'
These dead leaves make it look a mite untidy.
See you later, sir.
Well, looks like Yogi's turned over a new leaf.
Leaf? Picking up leaves?
Hey, wait a minute, it's autumn and there
are 400 square miles of dead leaves on the ground.
Come on, Boo-Boo. There's work to do-do.
That bear is up to something.
And I'll ferret out what it is, if it's the last thing I do.
Pardon me, folks, we're having a big surprise party
for Mr. Ranger and you're all invited.
There he is. Over by that picnic table.
Alright, Yogi, hold it.
Whoops, here he comes now.
Remember, mum's the word.
I warned you about mooching from the people.
I'm packing you off to the zoo, right now.
Oh, he wasn't mooching.
We offered him some food, but he refused.
Yogi? Refused food?
You know very well, sir, it's against park rules
to accept goodies from the tourists.
Yogi refusing food?
Now, I know he's up to something.
So, it's fair enough to set a trap for him.
Well, we're all set for the party, Yogi.
Run up to the inn and bring back the cake.
Will do, chef, sir.
Ah, here comes Yogi.
Now, to spring my trap.
When he touches that picnic basket, I've got him.
And off he goes to the zoo.
[humming]
Huh? An unguarded picnic basket.
Hmm, too bad I got no time for that now.
I got more important things to do.
What could be more important than a picnic basket to Yogi?
[humming]
So, that's it. He's raiding the kitchen.
Come back here with that cake, Yogi.
It's Mr. Ranger.
This is it, Yogi. To the zoo with you.
I knew you were up to something.
screech
- 'Happy birthday.' - 'Happy birthday.'
- Huh? - 'Happy birthday, Mr. Ranger.'
You are just in time to have a piece of your cake.
Here, read it.
"Birthday greetings to Chief Ranger Smith
from Yogi Bear."

Thanks, everybody, but..
...I'm really not a jolly good fellow.
I'm an old sourpuss.
A jolly good one though, sir.
And they're the best kind.
