Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace

3

Episode 55

4

Autumn Hunt Festival is a family ritual of our dynasty.

5

Hence, all those who practice martial skills and outdoor sports around these borders, aspire deeply the meanings.

6

Let us chase the deer and have a merry autumn hunt.

7

Ten thousand years!

8

Your Majesty, I and the wives shall await your safe return.

9

Yongcheng, put out your hands and follow your royal father.

10

I will wait for you to return with full hunt.

11

Let's go.

12

4th Prince is running fastest.

13

This nourishing of the Yu clan mountain ginseng is different indeed.

14

4th Prince has great fitness.

15

Even a tiger will be beaten to death by him, I think.

16

He will be showing off some great skills before His Majesty.

17

3rd Prince is the eldest so he's the one who will display.

18

He'll be the one who be the crown prince too in the future if he pleases His Majesty.

19

It won't be Yongcheng's turn.

20

Eldest Prince, Yonghuang, died by that taboo.

21

Noble Consort Jia mentions the crown prince matter again.

22

You still haven't learned your lesson after making sutra flags for Empress Xiaoxian?

23

Oh, I was just joking.

24

Noble Consort Chun is taking heart for no reason.

25

Actually no matter how great our kids are, they are still no competition against Empress's main child.

26

In the future, once 12th Prince is an adult,

27

he's the one who will be above all others.

28

Why are we discussing such nonsense and not watching hunting at this hour?

29

Yes.

30

Good. You are making it proud that you were my first son upon succession.

31

You are excellent.

32

5th Brother, pretty good!

33

You're taking it easy on me, 3rd Brother.

34

Royal Father, I will go chase that roe deer.

35

Good.

36

4th Brother, you got a deer. You can't let me have a roe?

37

There's no brothers in hunting. Whoever gets is whoever's hunt.

38

Good. I shall see who hunts most today. Handsome reward.

39

This mare's scent.

40

Royal Father, there's a wild horse there.

41

That is a handsome great horse.

42

Royal Father, wild hoses are fierce tempered. Don't chase it.

43

Useless thing. That's a thousand mile horse.

44

I shall tame it. Don't follow me.

45

Royal Father has always loved great horses. Seeing such fine horse, why wouldn't he be tempted?

46

But the safety of His Majesty.

47

I will go then. You guys can back off.

48

3rd Brother, if you come empty handed,

49

Royal Father won't be happy.

50

I won't be empty handed.

51

Those horses and deer are mine.

52

Careful, Your Majesty.

53

Careful, Royal Father.

54

Royal Father.

55

- Royal Father.

- Royal Father, your son came late.

56

You are injured.

57

I'm fine. Help me get up.

58

Your servant Ling Yunche came to rescue late. May Your Majesty grant forgiveness.

59

I remember you. You used to work by my side.

60

You committed a shame.

61

I was unfairly wronged.

62

Get on up.

63

Thank you.

64

Yongqi, you blocked in front of me earlier.

65

Why didn't you shoot the wild horse and only stood?

66

At my distance it was too late to pull an arrow.

67

Also, I heard from Master before.

68

That these beasts hurt humans only one at a time.

69

So if the wild horse hurts me, it won't hurt you.

70

Spare me.

71

Spare me.

72

Spare me.

73

Spare me.

74

Your Majesty. Your Majesty, are you alright?

75

How did this happen? How could there be an assassin?

76

Your Majesty, are you alright?

77

Replying to Your Majesty, the arrow wound isn't deep, fortunately.

78

We just need to change medicine on time and you will recover soon.

79

I'm fine. You all stop kneeling here and leave.

80

Tell Fu Heng to come.

81

Yes.

82

Your Majesty.

83

How was the search?

84

For now I've detained the officers who were present at the ranch.

85

And I'm rushing to investigate this matter.

86

I've dispatched men to areas surrounding the ranch for capture.

87

Just that, for now, we've not yet found the trails of an assassin.

88

Any signs?

89

From my first investigation,

90

the assassin seems to have lured you with the wild horse and hid to shoot you.

91

It must be at least two assassins working together.

92

One shot wrongly and the other tried another shot. But the assassins did not arrange themselves well.

93

They kept missing so they rushed out the forest in panic.

94

Hence, we couldn't find their trail.

95

The wild horse is hard to tame. How did they accomplish it?

96

That forest is remote.

97

Someone painted body fluid of a mare all along the trees.

98

To lure the wild horse.

99

Not just the wild horse, but even your horse was affected.

100

Ling Yunche was walking Concubine Ke's horse which is a mare.

101

Could she have also been affected by a mare scent to go to the forest as well?

102

I also looked into that.

103

Ling Yunche was instructed to walk Concubine Ke's horse.

104

He really ended up there by accident.

105

Your Majesty, be assured, as I shall look into this urgently.

107

Who's trying to harm me?

108

Who's trying to harm me?

109

Your Majesty.

110

Your Majesty, it was a dream. The matter's over.

111

Does your leg ache?

112

The medicine lost its potency. I will fetch a royal physician to change it for you.

113

No.

114

There's no one I can trust by me.

115

Even coming to Mulan ranch, some assassin tried to kill me.

116

Your Majesty, you have loyal subjects and filial sons by your side.

117

The assassin can't harm you.

118

Loyal subjects and filial sons?

119

Loyal subjects and filial sons.

120

Come.

121

Where's Fu Heng?

122

Sir Fu Heng went out to patrol to investigation the matter.

123

Where's Ling Yunche?

124

Guard Ling is outside.

125

Alright. Send my words.

126

Ling Yunche contributed merit in rescuing me. Promote him to 2nd rank imperial guard.

127

To patrol my side day and night.

128

Yes.

129

Your Majesty. Sir Fu Heng has been investigating all day.

130

He found no trail of the assassin.

131

This matter is strange.

132

How so?

133

The wild horses appeared at the rank a few days ago.

134

Today it appeared before you and that's coincidential.

135

Fu Heng looked into it. The forest is remote.

136

Someone painted body fluid of a mare to lure the wild horse.

137

That's cunning.

138

Wild horse lured you into the forest and they had hidden arrows.

139

The arrow did not have poison.

140

So the assassin didn't want you dead.

141

Or perhaps the assassin wanted to harvest your life in one arrow?

142

You're very right. I find it puzzling too.

143

They shot arrow at me and it had to be close by. How is it that there's no trail?

144

Since I became King, though the world is at ease,

145

there's still always rebels.

146

Your words, I've heard.

147

When Fu Heng is back, I'll have him look into it more.

148

Yes.

149

Your Majesty, I should still get the royal physician to come and change your medicine.

150

Yongqi, you really saw it?

151

Yes, it was 4th prince that went into the forest alone first.

152

When I saw Royal Father again, he was already collapsed.

153

Last night, Yongqi said this to me.

154

And I felt uneasy.

155

How is it so coincidential?

156

4th Prince was on the side just in time to rescue?

157

Also, Fu Heng already found the corpse of the assassin.

158

I don't know if he's scared that His Majesty will cast blame so he's just pacifying him.

159

If it's the case, it's unusual.

160

Now the assassin's corpse is found.

161

If there is no pretext, this matter needs to be pushed down.

162

His Majesty favors Yongcheng.

163

If we splatter cold water on him,

164

we will have Yongqi be accused of being jealous of his brother.

165

I also feel that

166

Yongqi's position in this is awkward.

167

4th Prince is very delighted right now.

168

Good that he's delighted. When you're delighted, you lose your place easily.

169

Let's go and see how this is progressing.

170

An assassin? And Emperor was injured?

171

Gratefully it was a severe injury.

172

Empress Dowager, be assured. I already sent someone to relay words.

173

To express your care of him.

174

Just that this matter, do you want to investigate it?

175

I can't. Now we are amid the chaos.

176

Emperor is most suspicious. If I ask suddenly.

177

I will court Emperor's upset.

178

You only just care about him.

179

But it's because His Majesty is so suspicious that you've become estranged.

180

He's not my biological child so there's always suspicion.

181

Now I only pray for my daughters' safety.

182

Just regard me as an old lady who's enjoying retirement.

183

I hear 4th prince set a merit in rescuing.

184

His Majesty is elated.

185

It seems Noble Consort Jia is going up in ranks due to her son.

186

Having a great son is her blessing.

187

Fujia. How long has it been since Hengchuo sent letter?

188

It's been half a year.

189

Empress Dowager, a letter delivered means safe.

190

No letter also means safe.

191

Safe is good. Just safe is good.

192

Congratulations, Sir Ling for returning to the palace.

193

Thank you, Eunuch Li.

194

This isn't like before. Now you're deemed very highly by His Majesty.

195

I can return alive to see you.

196

It's my blessing.

197

His Majesty was startled at the Mulan ranch and the security at the palace has been raised.

198

Sir Ling, you are His Majesty's trusted man and you are patrolled more often and toiling more.

199

You should get married to have someone take care of you.

200

Eunuch Li. I can return to the palace to serve His Majesty.

201

That's already my blessing. I don't dare to wish more.

202

But His Majesty is clear on rewards and punishments.

203

He will surely grant you a grace.

204

Lancui.

205

Come, let me tell you something.

206

I need to go receive monthly stipend for my mistress.

207

Why do you want to see me?

208

I know Mistress Ling has lost favor and your life isn't well.

209

But now it's different. Ling Yunche is back.

210

Ling Yunche?

211

He's a merit-subject that rescued His Majesty, you know.

212

I came just to tell you if Ling Yunche can put in some good words for you guys,

213

then Mistress Ling's favor will be returned.

214

He's really back?

215

He's even got a heavy reward.

216

I've got chores to do. I'll go now.

217

Ling Yunche's returned to the palace?

218

It's surely all certain. He's a popular man by His Majesty now.

219

He's guarding His Majesty day and night without leaving.

220

So many palace maids want to marry that man now.

221

He's back.

222

He's fine now.

223

You go now.

224

Yes. I'll take my leave.

225

Ling Yunche is back.

226

Jin Zhong won't try to harm him again, right?

227

Mistress, don't panic. Sir Ling has returned proudly and properly.

228

Jin Zhong won't dare to mess with him either.

229

I hope so.

230

Mulan autum hunt matter. Though the assassin's dead,

231

it is still a failure of the rank officials there.

232

What do you deem I should do?

233

All involved should be punished severely in order to caution the next ones there.

234

Ling Yunche, you used to work at the ranch.

235

What is your thought?

236

Replying to Your Majesty.

237

I am shallow-skilled and I was only a herder.

238

I really don't understand the logics here.

239

I defer to Your Majesty's sage arrangement.

240

Yongzhang, what about you?

241

I think we can't find out the true culprit of this assassination,

242

it's due to too many people there and it's hard to investigate.

243

If you want to punish all,

244

who will be continuing the investigation for you?

245

Yongzhang, you are the eldest among the sons. You should've been the one to come to my rescue first.

246

You came to rescue late.

247

You were unfilial and incompetent.

248

Secondly, afterwards, you languished.

249

Then in order to reclaim your reputation you punished unclearly.

250

Thirdly, you ignored my safety.

251

You ignored my life. You committed a grave crime of unfiliality.

252

Dissipate your anger, Royal Father. I don't dare.

253

Get out.

254

I take my leave.

255

Yongzhang asks for clemency for the ranchers.

256

That day's incident. Was it linked to him?

257

I don't dare to speak wildly.

258

Your Majesty, to my thinking,

259

3rd Prince is your real son, so he wouldn't.

260

The father and sons of the imperial household isn't the same.

261

We are father and son but also master and subject.

262

And also enemies. So I must be cautious.

263

You are over worried.

264

Your behold a strong reign. No one dares and can take it away.

265

Then the Mulan ranchers. Should I punish them?

266

If there's an offense, it should be punished. If there's a merit, it should be rewarded.

267

Alright.

268

Ling Yunche. You set a merit in rescuing me.

269

You're over 30 and unmarried.

270

I've selected a suitable match for you. Her name is Maoqian.

271

She came from the Sakda clan of Border Blue Banner.

272

She's a Mongolian lady and her father was a scribe.

273

Now, she's all alone.

274

She's got no one at home. She's quite suitable to you.

275

Your Majesty, I am from a lower fifth banner, a very humble background.

276

I fear I don't suit this Miss Maoqian.

277

You are my imperial guard. There's nothing unsuitable.

278

Unless you don't care about my marriage grant?

279

Sir Ling, I think the joy has deluded you.

280

Hurry and thank His Majesty.

281

I thank Your Majesty for the grace.

282

Greetings to Empress.

283

You're back.

284

Empress, you told me to come back proud and square.

285

I don't dare to disappoint you.

286

I'm glad you're back.

287

I have to thank you for rescuing His Majesty.

288

That's just my duty.

289

Having merit but unforgetting of one's foundation is how one can last by His Majesty's side.

290

His Majesty granted you a marriage for you personally and that's a great honor to you.

291

Empress, actually I've never thought of getting married.

292

This marriage grant came as such a surprise to me.

293

Man and woman marry when they're grown.

294

Getting a wife and setting up house is the start of a new life.

295

His Majesty chose Lady Maoqian for you.

296

She's from a great family.

297

You ought to treat her well.

298

Yes.

299

Is there anyone at your family who can hold a wedding for you?

300

My parents both died when I was young.

301

Jiang Yubin and Suoxn live in the capital.

302

I will tell them to preside it for you.

303

Thank you for your beautiful intention.

304

Your Highness, is that 12th Prince?

305

I heard you had a baby while I was at Mulan ranch.

306

I congratulate you here.

307

May you and 12th Prince have a safe and smooth life.

308

You're thoughtful.

309

Greetings to Empress.

310

You're here too, Sir Ling.

311

Eunuch Ling, I've been back many days but I hadn't come to greet Empress.

312

So I made this special trip here today.

313

Eunuch Li, you're here.

314

His Majesty said he will dine at Yikun Palace tonight. May you prepare it.

315

I got it.

316

Since12th Prince was born, His Majesty's heart is locked here.

317

He misses here if he doesn't come a few days.

318

Mistress, it's because His Majesty has to accompany Empress for dinner that he hasn't the time to see you.

319

Next time. There will be a next time.

320

Sir Ling.

321

Greetings to Consort Ling.

322

You're back.

323

Yes.

324

How are you?

325

I'm all well.

326

Wait.

327

I heard you've been promoted.

328

His Majesty granted you marriage too. Soon you will marry.

329

Congratulations.

330

Thank you, Consort Ling.

331

Maoqian's father is at least a minor official.

332

Her background is much higher than mine back then.

333

This marriage, are you happy with it?

334

His Majesty arranged it.

335

Of course it's the best.

336

It's true. You and I are both no longer the old selves.

337

I had thought back then I would marry you.

338

Consort Ling, you will always choose the better.

339

I am just an unfavored woman.

340

What's there that's good?

341

But I know.

342

You don't like this wife, right?

343

You still care about me?

344

Your Highness, you are a mistress.

345

No one aches for me.

346

You can't even pacify me?

347

What you wish, only His Majesty can accomplish.

348

I must go to my post. Good bye.

349

Mistress, you should not talk to Sir Ling too much.

350

Or Eunuch Jin Zhong might find out.

351

And make drama again.

352

He's about to marry but I can see he's not happy.

353

Chunchan, he still cares for me.

354

But what use is that?

355

I saw your study and I talked to your master.

356

I know you are an excellent student.

357

I heard lately you are learning Mongolian and Yu well too.

358

My mother is from Yu clan.

359

So I learned some.

360

So it might come to use in the future.

361

Great.

362

There will be a Yu envoy to congratulate me on my birthday celebration.

363

At the time, you can play good host to them for me.

364

Yes.

365

Your Majesty is dining at my palace often lately.

366

I am worried about the food, whether you're tired of all this.

367

This ginseng chicken soup is great.

368

Light and ungreasy but awakening.

369

This time, at my birthday celebration, there will be Yu clan envoy coming to congratulate.

370

Yongcheng is excellent and versed in interactions.

371

He is very admired by the court ministers.

372

You are a good mother.

373

Yongcheng knows he's the first prince upon your succession.

374

So he's thoughtful about all things, fearing he will shame you.

375

Yongcheng, though he's not old,

376

he knows how to judge situations and he sees the big picture.

377

He excels in literature and martial arts and very devoted.

378

He's an example to all the princes. He should be encouraged.

379

I plan to promote him to Venerable Prince (Prince of 3rd rank) after my birthday celebration.

380

I thank Your Majesty for the grace.

381

Yongzhang got a wife and still wasn't promoted.

382

But 4th Prince got to be Venerable Prince?

383

Though there's order in age of siblings,

384

Yongcheng displayed merit in rescuing His Majesty.

385

So His Majesty is rewarding him.

386

4th Prince set a merit so he deserves whatever reward.

387

But His Majesty --

388

His Majesty should at least think of Yongzhang's esteem and promote him to Venerable Prince too.

389

But he cast Yongzhang alone.

390

He even reprimanded him harshly a few days ago.

391

Liyun, you better not repeat those words elsewhere ever.

392

If others hear you,

393

they will think Yongzhang is resenting His Majesty and jealous of his siblings.

394

It was me who was deluded.

395

His Majesty likes Yongcheng due to the filial devotion of rescuing him.

396

If Yongzhang can be understand of His Majesty too,

397

he will be a devoted son too.

398

Your words, I will remember.

399

Greetings to Royal Mother, to Mother, to Mother Chun.

400

Get on up.

401

Sit.

402

Rongpei, go bring the autumn pear soup.

403

Yes.

404

Have some snack.

405

Thank you, Royal Mother.

406

5th Prince is back.

407

Then I should leave first.

408

Bidding farewell.

409

Yongqi, today, what did Master teach you?

410

Today, 4th brother wasn't there.

411

He went to royal father's so Master didn't teach anything new.

412

Master said from now on the lessons will be planned according to 4th brother's progress.

413

If 4th brother isn't there, we just rehash.

414

Yongqi,

415

I heard your royal father granted you the four treasures of study and his arrow and bow he used to use to you.

416

Yes.

417

Royal Father also told me to learn diligently both art and martial.

418

That's because your royal father has aspirations for you.

419

You must remember his words clearly and cultivate your learning of literature and martial arts.

420

I shall remember.

421

Also, now that your 4th brother is favored,

422

you just need to sharpen yourself.

423

And keep a low profile and evade your 4th brother.

424

Your teaching, I shall remember.

425

I hope Yongji can grow up quickly.

426

So he can help me share my troubles.

427

Your Majesty that's rushing a bit.

428

When I see you lately.

429

I see you've thinned out and you don't eat much for dinner.

430

Are you too tired from caring Yongji?

431

I'm not tired yet.

432

But in the future it will be, I fear.

433

How do you mean?

434

Jiang Yubin took my pulse.

435

He said I was two months pregnant already.

436

Great! That's great!

437

Pregnant again so fast! I'm so happy.

438

Your Majesty, do you want a prince again?

439

I've got Yongqi, so this one, be it a girl or boy, either is good.

440

Having a prince will be icing on the cake.

441

But if it's a princess, I can have both princess and prince.

442

It's great. Great!

443

Hurry.

444

[ Ling Manor ]

445

Bride is here.

446

[ Ling Manor ]

447

Congrats.

448

Congrats.

451

Indeed since it was His Majesty's marriage grant.

461

Empress is giving us extra honor.

462

We should be drinking the wedding wine, I think?

463

I am someone blunt.

464

From now on, you take care of the exterior, and do your job well by His Majesty.

465

I will take care of the inside. The manor and money, I shall control.

466

You are my wife. I will honor you.

467

Not just honor.

468

When people live together, it's always either the wife yielding to the husband.

469

Or the husband yielding to the wife.

470

Tonight, let's get this clear and set our rules.

471

From now on, you listen to me.

472

You're always so thoughtful.

473

Thanks to you finding so many pieces of rags from the poor families to make this blanket.

474

Everyone says poor family's children are easily raised.

475

We should touch upon their luck.

476

I hope 12th Prince.

477

And your child in your womb have safe and smooth lives.

478

Not like 10th Prince.

479

Yes, news from Duke of Xianqing manor state 10th Prince has been ill since winter started.

480

He's coughing nonstop and royal physicians have made many trips already.

481

Consort Shu is in a panic too.

482

How about this? After we get this one done,

483

let's give it to 10th Prince first.

484

Later, I'll go search more cloth pieces.

485

And make a new one for you new baby.

486

Great.

487

Sister. Today seems to be some special day.

488

I couldn't remember though.

489

Think harder.

490

Today is Ling Yunche's wedding date.

491

Look how I've forgotten.

492

I made a pair of boots for you.

493

Thank you, Your Highenss.

494

Look carefully.

495

This cloud pattern resonates your name.

496

And also my wish for you to have a life that is smooth like cloud.

♫ Being your favorite and being forgotten both are argued in my heart, at a loss to arrive at an explanation. ♫

499

♫ You bear witness to constant changes in my well-being, my sorrows and my joys, the path of my dreams forever cut off. ♫

500

♫ You draw my hand to embroider all alone in my loneliness, silken clothes pile up under the moonlight. ♫

501

♫ Telling myself they might be used for warmth, but who would dare? ♫

502

♫ Whose life after life is filled with paired images of love and resentment? ♫

503

♫ One side is beautiful, the other expressionless and silent. ♫

504

♫ From a distance, visits come around without word of your approach, ♫

505

♫ filling time between acts perhaps? ♫

506

♫ Feelings fracture, forgive and wistfully anticipate, forgetting they’re part of the paired image, ♫

507

♫ One day in cold indifference, the next in warm recollection. ♫

508

♫ If only we might perpetually walk in the brilliant sunlight ♫

509

♫ This lifetime has been so dismally overcast. ♫

510

♫ From now on, this lifetime will be... ♫

♫ without clouds. ♫
