so I get a chance to spend some time with these artists,

put them together,

and listen to the song that I prepared.

My overall approach to pairing the artists

was basically finding out

what vocals sounded best together,

what genres would make sense,

and what would be something different.

I always want to bring something different

to whatever I do.

Gail Bliss -- I loved her.

She was my Coach's Replay.

And you have her paired with?

Christina Eagle.

So, that's a veteran with a youngster. Right.

And you'll be able to pair their vocals together

to see who's the strongest and, you know,

how they do what they do. Okay. That's great.

Sounds like we have a plan, man. I really appreciate it, man.

I'm so excited about my first-ever battle as a coach.

The coach in me comes out.

Whether it's coaching kids in sports or coaching the artists,

for us to be in front of each other,

for the nerves to be gone,

and for me to give them actual real notes --

that's the exciting part.

I am so grateful. I just want to say thank you

for saving my behind. Yeah.

My heart and my spirit felt compelled,

like, "You know what? I do have that..."

What excites me most about working with Snoop

is the fact that it's such an unlikely pairing.

I know that there's so much that I can learn from him.

He's a genius musically.

When I found out she was my partner, I jumped in her lap.

This is what I want -- big sister, little sister. Yes.

'Cause these are relationships that are gonna last

way further than this show. Right.

It was easy for me to pair,

and then I'm like, "What kind of song?"

So, when I heard "Redneck Woman," I liked that.

[ Laughs ] "I liked that!"

"Yeah, they need to do this one."

This song was written about me.

I can tell you every single line of that.

Gail: This song does remind me of much of my life growing up.

I was just fine being a tomboy.

I lived up to that.

I was rough and tumble. I was my daddy's little girl.

We would race motorcycles almost every single weekend

Well, my whole family did.

And I also was a member

of the Future Farmers of America.

I'm a sheep farmer with a degree in agriculture,

and you can't get much more redneck than that --

in all the good ways.

she's what we need as far as my team,

someone with experience who has the beautiful spirit

and the know how and the understanding.

and you see she's able to compete.

because it represents some sort of spirit

that they've either encountered or are going through,

and the artists feel comfortable and confident.

Snoop: So, this is gonna be key.

Picking the song, the energy, the lyrics,

I have an advantage over the other coaches

'cause I've been able to dance off into other genres of music

and do it very well,

from an artist's perspective and a producer side.

These lyrics are deep and they're dope and they feel good.

And I love that, like, the song --

I just feel like she's saying, "This is who I am,

and I don't give a dang what anybody says about it."

And that's how I'm trying to be.

You are. So I'm like, "Let's do this thing."

The best version of you

is the best version of you. Right.

One of the lines talks about not giving a rip,

and that's exactly how I want to be.

Both my parents died in car accidents.

I was paralyzed to live my life because I was so afraid,

"What if something bad happens to me?" * Wildflowers and *

* Wild horses * I need that.

So even being here was hard,

but it was like, "No, I'm gonna keep going."

There was so much excitement going on, I had to see it.

My family -- they are a big part in inspiring me to sing.

And it ain't always easy,

but I know this is what I want to do.

Across genres a lot, you've been successful at that.

How is that navigating through the music business?

The hard part about that, Gail, in the beginning

was being worried about what others had to say.

Golly. Once I lost that,

I started to do what felt best for me in my career.

So, if there was an artist that made country music

and he said, "Snoop, I want to get you on this record,"

I'd say, sure thing, "Willie."

And it becomes a big record in his world and my world. Sure.

Music is a universal language of all people. Amen.

So you have to find a way to make your vocals

become an instrument.

in all of these genres of music.

Be original. Be that individual

that God created and find ways to master yourself

so that way, whenever you're on display,

you're being the best version of you.

I love that. You're preaching now.

The decision that I'm gonna have to make with these two ladies,

it's gonna be tough, but it's all based upon

how they perform and the feeling.

My first coaching day, season 24.

What is happening? I -- This is like my favorite part.

[ Laughs ] Well, I wrote the wrong one on my nail.

That's what they all say. So there's that.

This is season 26, and, um, I'm ready.

This never gets old -- coaching.

I just love sharing, like, what I do

and seeing if it helps impact them in any way.

And watching them grow right before your eyes ---

it's just such a great, like, rewarding feeling.

I paired Sloane and Sydney together.

They're both pop teenagers,

and it seemed like it would be an equal battle.

I had to go with Gwen after growing up

and idolizing her not only as a musician,

a songwriter, a performer, a fashion designer.

Literally, she does everything.

Being on her team is such a privilege.

I can't remember how old you were, though.

I'm 19. You're 15, right?

Sydney, your blind performance,

everybody was freaking out.

Sydney: I've wanted to work with Gwen since the start

because she has this different stage presence

and I think that I can learn a lot of confidence from her.

It's current. It's new.

It also is challenging

because you have to have a certain attitude, swag,

personality to pull off the song.

Together: * But if it's forever *

Sloane: The song is about frustration

and not wanting to lose someone.

With everything that my family is going through right now,

I just -- I think it's a perfect message for me to sing to them.

My dad was diagnosed with cancer,

and after my blind audition,

I found out that the chemotherapy we were trying

was not working and our options for treatment are limited.

I was wondering if it was a good idea for me to come back

with everything my family is going through,

but my dad looked at me and said,

"Sloane, like, you have to keep going.

You can't give up on your dream."

It's been a really tough journey being away from home,

but I know I have my family's full support.

Together: * ...surprised *

Wow. So pretty, you guys.

Now, all of these pop songs are hard

because you have to have the personality

to be able to pull them off, right?

So I need more, like, angst,

more teenager,

kind of like, "I love you so unbelievably much,

nothing else matters."

Like, that thing when you're mad at your mom

and she doesn't get it, when you're like,

"But, Mom!"

Sydney, I want you to be like

how the original is, where it's like less long notes

and maybe, like, more staccato and a little more sassy.

Yeah. One thing I always tell everybody is film yourselves

'cause you will not be able to get away from the truth

if you film yourself and watch it back together

whatever you have to dig into in your own life

to get that through your facial expressions

and through your body language --

right? -- I want to see it.

Gwen is definitely down to earth,

really caring.

She's pushing me out of my comfort zone.

because I have a really close bond with a group of girls.

During middle school, you really change,

and you're gonna have friends that drop you,

But we always just stuck together.

And I'm really grateful for that.

While I'm here on "The Voice, I'm learning so much,

and I want to continue this journey as far as it takes me.

Gwen: Sydney is 15 years old,

and you would never have known

because she was really authentic.

Like, she could do anything perfectly in tune.

Sloane has a real character voice.

She has, like, a lot of style and dynamics to her voice.

She's even more talented than I thought.

Gwen: Vocally, it sounds so good.

We just have to find, like, the nuances,

like, dirty it up with a little more

of what you really are. You're teenagers.

We'll bring it. It's hard.

It's just digging in to your truth.

That's what I need. This is usually a song

that I would sing, like, in my room. Yeah.

So how do I translate that to, like, a big stage?

They're so good at what they do.

They're gonna swirl around you

and get all the right moments when they hit you on the camera.

But you got to know that you don't know when that's gonna be,

so you always got to be in that truth

of the moment of the song.

Whoever does it better is gonna win.

I'm so excited. I'm so scared, though,

because I don't know -- at this point, I have zero idea

what to do 'cause you're both so good.

But there's two steals.

Gwen: Sloane and Sydney --

it's really gonna come down to who has the most flexibility,

personality, and is ready right now to move on.

I think we can do it. We got this. I do, too. You're doing great.

These girls are really equally matched.

This is gonna be one of the toughest decisions

I literally, like, have my heart right in my throat

because I was so blown away by Sydney's blind audition.

There's no way that you're only 15 years old.

I mean, your instincts were so incredible.

And so I came into the battle thinking,

you know, "I just want to get more."

And Sloane -- I was just so surprised
