But, you know, I dont even know whats in the kitchen.

I brought -- I brought coffee and pastries and fruit.

[ Knock on door ] Hey, Steffy.

>> Steffy: [ Sighs ] >> Quinn: Im gonna go to the

kitchen and leave you guys.

>> Ridge: No.

>> Steffy: Wheres Granddad?

>> Ridge: He, uh -- hes in the den.

As head of the family, he figured he should contact

some people personally.

>> Taylor: Yes.

Eric always knows what to do.

Just one phone call is all it takes and...

you the bad news over the phone.

>> Wyatt: A-a blood clot?

>> Katie: We dont have many of the details.

>> Hope: Do the Forresters know?

>> Bill: Eric just called.

>> Wyatt: Wait, did -- So did he have more

information, or...?

>> Bill: I didnt want to push it, Wyatt.

>> Hope: Well, is there anything we can do?

>> Bill: Keep them in your thoughts.

>> Ridge: Did you contact Spencer?

>> Eric: Yeah.

>> Steffy: Howd he sound?

>> Eric: Shaky.

>> Quinn: [ Sighs ] Its so sad.

>> Taylor: Were you able to reach...?

>> Eric: Oh, yeah.

>> Quinn: Both of them will.

>> Steffy: Just awful.

>> Quinn: Steffy, will you help me in the kitchen?

>> Steffy: Yeah.

I-I cant think of anything other than saucers and napkins

Karens sending me a draft of the obituary.

She wants to make sure that the, um -- the details of Carolines

life in L.A. arent left out.

>> Katie: Caroline [Sighs] grew up a whole lot while she

was out here in a short amount of time, both professionally and

personally.

>> Liam: She always wanted to make a name for herself as a

designer.

>> Sally: We had a lot in common.

>> Wyatt: Yeah.

And after she apprenticed with Ridge, nobody doubted she had

serious chops as a designer.

>> Katie: And then there was Thomas.

>> Bill: I know what youre thinking.

>> Sally: Maybe you do.

>> Bill: The lie I told.

>> Wyatt: It was nobodys finest hour, Dad.

>> Liam: Especially not Carolines.

>> Sally: Yeah, or Thomas.

All the questions he never asked.

>> Bill: And now the lie has become true.

>> Katie: Bill, dont.

Carolines death is not on you, okay?

>> Hope: Lately Ive noticed how every life, no matter how brief,

changes the world.

And everything we think and feel, and the choices

we make for ourselves is somehow influenced by people who

may or may not be here anymore.

>> Quinn: Did he say when it happened?

>> Eric: Or -- or where? Or how?

>> Taylor: Just a sudden blood clot is all Thomas

could tell me.

I didnt want to make him tell me too many details.

>> Ridge: [ Sighs ] Well, hes on his way.

He can tell us when he gets here.

>> Eric: One of us should go back to New York with him, help

square things away.

>> Taylor: Well, lets wait and -- and let Thomas tell us

what he wants to do first.

>> Steffy: Hell want to be here.

This is the only place thats home to him.

>> Ridge: Okay.

Lets try not to overwhelm the boy.

>> Steffy: [ Sighs ] >> Ridge: Hell tell us what he

wants to tell us when hes ready.

>> Taylor: Mostly, last night, all Thomas wanted me to do was

tell him how to tell Douglas.

>> Quinn: Oh, I dont envy anyone having to tackle that

question.

>> Ridge: The kids so young.

>> Eric: Maybe too young to understand.

Maybe thats not such a bad thing.

>> Steffy: When a child loses their mom...

they think its a lie.

They think that theyre just lost.

But they definitely feel terribly abandoned.

>> Eric: We wont let Douglas feel that way.

Well surround him with love.

Well keep his mothers spirit alive.

>> Ridge: [ Sighs ] I loved this woman.

I loved everything about her.

Cause she chose to live life out loud.

Who does that anymore?

And she never apologized for it.

She celebrated it, and she relished it.

So did I.

She was always full of fun and -- and joy and laughter.

And tears.

Full of passion for her work, and...

passion for the beauty in this world that most of us dont even

see anymore.

And passion for the people that she chose to have in her life.

Ive never met anyone like that.

Have you?

And I dont think we will again.

>> Bill: I had the same impulse to gather the family.

>> Eric: Well, Caroline was part of our family, too.

try to get a flight out, but the weather there has been really

awful.

Hes not sure when hes gonna get in.

that she wanted you to be Douglas godparents.
