-Forty episodes.

Do you remember doing a discussion,

like, you were probably,
I think, in that hallway.

All wide-eyed, bushy tailed
full of dreams and hopes.

"Put me in, coach."
You know what you should do,

is get photos of us and the entire cast
of "Air: Part 1," next to "Gauntlet."

You and I, I think, have had
some of the most drastic changes...

- Physical changes.
-Look at this, look at this clown hair.

- Look at... Yeah.
-Look at this.

YOUNG: We've been through
a hell of a lot together, that's for sure.

I guess it would be easy to dwell
on everything that we have lost,

but I think today I would rather think about
what we still have, and

maybe what we've gained.

We're a... We're family now.

BLUE: I think in a weird way,
it hasn't hit everybody yet.

It comes on you so fast,

and, out of nowhere, you blink
and you're done with the season,

especially this year.
Season 1 went by really fast.

This season just flew by.

Like, I can 't believe
that we've shat 20 episodes this year.

We've shot M) episodes
oi Stargate Universe

and it feels like we just started last month.

Season 2 flew by so quickly,

and I think that that's gonna be the feeling
when you watch it too. It moves so quickly.

It's still surreal.
I think the whole thing right now is,

I don't want to go home.
I'm like, "Okay, do I have to leave now?"

I've never been on a show
longer than a few episodes.

So, to be a part of a family,

and especially a family like this,

that's been around for years
before our version of the show.

It makes it a really great experience,
but it's gone by really fast.

It's bittersweet, right?
lt's like, part of you is like, "I need a break,

"I need to sleep in."
You know, "I need to shower."

But then, it's like, you know,
this is the thing about this industry

is you just never know. Nothing is forever.

And regardless of what happens,

you look back on this whole year

with like, love
and fun memories and all that stuff.

After all the bells and whistles,

and the fireworks at the end of Season 1,

you know, do you really wanna go back
to that well?

Do you want to finish every season
with a huge battle

and all of this mayhem?

Given the comparison
to the Season 1 finale,

which was just utter chaos,

and everyone's in peril, sort of thing,

this was a very,
almost philosophical ending.

And, it's not a typical season finale.

I mean, we do have
a little bit of space action

and some stuff like that, and explosions,

and some cool CGI,
but, it's a really kind of, quiet episode

and I think what's smart about it

is that the crisis and the big "What if"

is more intellectual.

lt's like, "What's gonna
happen three years from now?"

The thing that I enjoyed the most
about the first read of the script was

the way there were so many kind of
callbacks to the pilot episode.

I thought that was pretty cool.

Especially at the end of the script,
that had the...

Just the whole ship,
sort of} buttoning dawn,

very similar to what we did
on the opening of the show

when we first discovered the Destiny
and took the tour for the first time.

Now we're, kind of,
going in the opposite direction

with everything buttoning down.

MULLIE: The end af the episode ends with...

Eli has to preserve power,
so he's shutting down sections of the ship,

so we've got a montage
of lights going off in all the different sets.

So, as soon as we finish with the set,
we do a shot of the lights going off.

So there's a real sense of finality to that,

we're doing it over
and over and over again,

every day at the shoot of our...

You know, we're visiting new sets

and shutting them down,
shutting them down.

It kind of has a bit of a psychological
toll, I think, on everybody.

Eli, kind of, started his journey in that pilot.

He was in his own world
and he gets sucked into this thing,

and the whole way
has been him learning and growing.

So it's kind of a coo! full-circle
that he ends up alone, again.

But he is set to live his dream out.

And even more than that,
he has grown so much,

and this episode, specifically,
shows how much he's grown.

He steps up and takes responsibility.

I'll do it.

- Eli...
-If you stay out, it's automatic.

You're dead.

If l do it, at least I have a chance.
Maybe even a better chance than Rush.

At the end of "Gauntlet,"
he actually comes into his own

and rather than being the guy
that people will go to and say,

you know, "Eli, can you do this?"
and he gets the job done.

This is the moment for him
to basically step up and say,

"No, you know,
you guys have done enough.

"This is up to me."

MULLIE: We talked a lat an show

about haw he's this genius
with a lat of potential,

but it's no good to just have potential
if you never actually step up. Right?

And so, we decided
that this would be his moment to step up.

MIKITA: It's Eli, sort of} basically
becoming a man now.

And he's finally, you know,
reaching his potential,

and everybody recognizing that.

I love the dynamic between Rush and Eli

where Rush finally gives, sort of concedes

to the fact that Eli is in fact a smart puppy

and he has all this unrealized potential

and really he is the only guy that they can,

you know, entrust
to make everything work

in the whole stasis-pod plan that he has.

You know, maybe I haven't said this
often enough, Eli, but you do have...

You do have tremendous potential.

L'd hate to see you throw it all away.

I'm not.

For me, this episode was like gold.

It was everything
that I had hoped could happen

and it sets up so much more.

There's just so many doors
that are open that I find it really cool.

When we shot the sequence
when all the cast had gone into the pods,

there was a wee moment,
I went, "Oh, right. Okay.

"Are you gonna be coming back out again?"

The state of flux
that the industry is in all aver in a sense,

for me, that kind of helps me in a way

because you play that in a sense,
you know, saying,

"This may be the last moment here."

We shot those first and we knew that
that's actually the last time

that we're gonna be seen
in this season, right,

those shots of us getting into the pods.

So it was a little bit bizarre.

And those things were
a little bit claustrophobic.

FERREIA: Those particular chambers,
A, I think creeped us all out.

They look like stand-up coffins.

They look like the end, they look like death.

They reminded me
of something that was sad.

And you know, rather than embrace that,

I was gonna try to remember
that this was about

remembering, like someone who dies,

that you're celebrating
the life of as opposed to the death of.

And so that's what
I try to keep in my mind going through that.

But I'd be lying if! didn't say
that the impact was huge on me.

LEVESQUE: It was surreal.
It was actually kind af an emotional thing.

In a way it felt like...

It was actually hitting us,
like, "We're coming to the end of this run."

I kept looking across at Jamil
in his little pod.

He looked a little verklempt.

Everybody goes to sleep.

And you don't put a whole ship to sleep

and expect everyone to wake up.

They need a medic, right?
You need a medic.

GILMORE: It's creepy.
KELAMIS: Yeah, it is.

At the end of the first season finale,

I felt kind of confident.
Like I'm hanging out with Rush.

Chances are...

- Look, if they're gonna kill anyone...
-They could kill anybody.

This room's good, you know.

This one, they've got us, you know,

in 14 Easy-Bake Ovens up there,

you don't know what can happen.

It kind of reminded me a little bit
of Han Solo,

when he was frozen in that thing.

A lot of things went through my mind.

One is that we have such
an incredible show and I'm so proud of it.

I know I'm gonna miss everyone,

and not knowing
whether we will come back,

it does play into the scene.

Like, will we wake up?
Will we not, you know?

And who's gonna wake up with us.
(LAUGHING)

lt's interesting because once again,
art imitates life.

And you feel it
on set, you know, in this last week.

You feel people saying, "Hey, man,
hope your holidays are wonderful.

"It's been a great year.
Really hope to see you.

"We 'll see what happens.
We'll see what the future may bring.

"But no matter what,
we've accomplished this."

lt's funny when you finally...
When it's almost over, like, you really...

It puts it all into perspective.

And you recognize
how lucky you are to have this gig

and to come in to work with everybody,

and kind of find yourself
getting sentimental and all that stuff.

FERRIERA". We're blessed.

I mean, the gift right now
to be an actor at this particular time

in our world, in our industry,
the gift itself is that we're working.

And with this particular group of people,
being the veteran,

I really, and I can't say it enough,

I've never felt more blessed
to be part of a group.

So this has been a beautiful experience
regardless of any outcome.

(ALL CHEERING)
