(TRAIN WHISTLE BLOWS)
(AMAZED GASPS)
It's a train!
Oh, my gosh!
HAMISH BLAKE: This season on Lego Masters...
How's it going?
No!
BRICKMAN: Wow. It looks amazing.
..we met 16 of the country's most passionate Lego builders.
Guys, come on in. Welcome.
I just love looking at something and going,
I want to make it look exactly like that.
Lego reconnected me with who I am.
They pushed themselves further.
I see a lot of panicked faces around.
Went faster...
Come on, don't.
No pressure!
I refuse to accept defeat,
I refuse to accept an incomplete build.
We've got a hit fifth, sixth, seventh gear.
We're going to go full auto transmission.
We're just gonna fly through this.
Ooh!
Ah!
Eugh!
No!
Eugh!
(CRASH) Are you OK?
I'm alive.
And they took the humble Lego brick to a whole new level.
BRICKMAN: This is the best Lego model
that we have seen on Lego Masters this year.
You crafted something amazing.
It's colourful, it tells a great story,
something to be super proud of.
And we're so proud of ourselves... Yeah.
..to get to here.
Now...
Yes!
..three teams remain.
This is the one chance to just go absolutely nuts.
..in the grand finale of Lego Masters.
Welcome to the Lego Masters finale.
(MAGICAL MUSIC)
(GRAND MUSIC)
(HOOTER BLARES)
(SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC)
(LAUGHS)
Oh!
(DRAMATIC MUSIC)
Come on in.
This is it. I can't believe it.
This is the mega bowl, Super Bowl. I am so stoked, man.
Whatever they call it in America. The Super Bowl.
The big one. We are the Super Bowl now.
(LAUGHS)
We didn't think we'd get this far, especially after we were eliminated.
To be the first person who is not a boy, not a man in the finals...
It's pretty call. ..it's pretty cool.
It's really cool. I'm pretty proud of you.
Walking into the studio and seeing that trophy, this is unreal.
And behold.
(SIGHS) That's beautiful, man.
Hopefully today we'll build the best thing that we've ever built.
Worthy of being called Lego Masters.
Hi, guys.
Wassup, guys?
(LAUGHTER)
Welcome to the Lego Masters finale.
You have made it. You are in the top.
Congratulations.
We've got it, man, we've got it.
This is what it all has come down to.
Can you believe we are one build away from a hoisting.
This will be hoisted. Who will hoist it?
That is what we are all here to find out.
It has been 16 builds.
Sixteen builds to get to this point.
Ryan and Gabby, you've built all of them.
You've been in all of them from the first episode.
You had a curse.
You even shrugged off a curse. I know.
A never-before-seen Lego Masters curse.
Your series has been full of firsts.
Curses,
first team that's ever been out to make it back into the finale.
And could you be the first previously cursed team
to hoist the trophy?
Let's go with yes.
(LAUGHTER)
Well, the trajectory says yes.
David and Gus, do you remember why you applied?
Yeah.
I really just wanted to see how far I could push myself creatively
and technically with Lego.
Hoping that season three would be more here's a concept
and develop an idea about that.
And it really was.
It really gave me and us the opportunity to just build things
that were insane.
So Season 3 was you reckon better than Season 2?
I mean, it's the best season I've been on.
(LAUGHTER) Great. Phew.
'Cause if that was going the other way then we'd just cut that out.
(LAUGHTER)
Scotty and Owen, you guys have...
I mean, you've been live wires throughout the whole season.
You've given us some very incredible builds.
I mean, what's it like going, there's just one idea left?
Oh.
It's a bit of relief, really. Yeah, pretty exhilarating.
But this one's hard because if this idea sucks it's because we suck.
(LAUGHTER)
We've been blessed this series at just how close it has been.
Nobody feels any sympathy because it's not warranted
but gee, some of my decisions have been really hard.
They really have.
And I know this one is going to be that again.
I can feel it already.
You have one more build in you and it's gonna be a belter
and it's gonna be
the most incredible Lego model you've ever made ever.
Because it has to be to win that.
And that's an order. (LAUGHTER)
As you know, the finale build is unlike any other build.
All season we've been giving you challenges and twists
and constraints and structures,
and for the three teams standing here tonight,
you have earned the right to build whatever you want.
Yes.
Now we just get to see what is in your mind.
A totally free build
that will be judged at the end by 250 members of the public
that each get to cast one vote.
Also as per tradition, Brickman has the golden brick.
It's back.
And the golden brick is worth 100 votes.
That is for you, sir. Thank you.
It's warm. Has that been in your pocket?
All year, yep. (LAUGHTER)
For today's build, the finale, you have got 28 hours.
Good luck.
Time starts now. Go for it.
Taking it easy. Of course.
Take it all in, you know? Taking it in.
Team magic.
Give me the ben.
You gotta chill. Alright, OK. Let's do it.
I know you want to build but we have to slow down. OK?
Can I have a piece of paper?
We're sharing.
Nice. (LAUGHS)
Coming into the grand final is like going to the beach.
You need to board shorts
and you need your thongs for the sand.
So, coming to this build man, we need our good vibes.
No good vibes, no good build,
it's just going to be off the table,
we might as well throw the build down now, man.
What has this got to do with the beach?
When you go to the beach you gotta be prepared.
Oh, OK.
Quick high five.
Oh! Eugh!
I kinda think our secret sauce for the whole kind of series,
the whole show really well, was just team vibe.
Under my title it will say engineer and I'm measuring stuff in shakas.
(PACEY MUSIC)
(SINGS) โช I'm spending most of my time sitting here on the stool. โช
(PACEY MUSIC)
โช Sortin' through all this Lego-ey goo. โช
We're both so passionate about delivering something wicked.
No. They're small and long.
Just pull one off. No. Veto.
I'm not letting you remove the eyes.
It makes us very passionate and heated at times.
We're back to square one.
Scotty smash, do it.
But that's kind of what leads us to creating our best builds.
BRICKMAN: Unreal.
Boy, what a reveal.
The benchmark is now there. It's amazing.
If I was looking for an example of teamwork,
this is the number one that I've seen on this show.
And if you can do that every week, we are all winners.
I think this whole experience has just cemented our love of Lego.
Yes!
We love telling those minifig stories,
creating that world you can kind of put yourself in
and feel a part of.
To be crowned champion, I mean,
that's something you're gonna tell your kids about forever.
Yes, we can do it.
Here. Wizard on a mountain.
Bulldozers just coming through the forest like that.
Yeah.
Owen and Scott, I feel like I'm at a storage warehouse or something.
What's going on? The plan is...
We've got some chicken scratch.
Hang on a minute. Time out.
Can you put your name and your age in the bottom corner
so it can be like, you know...
Our crayons ran out.
Go on.
So, our story is Engineers Versus Hippies.
We have a really big bulldozer with a city on the back of it
and they're coming to get to the energy that's in the forest
with drill rigs coming up through it and helicopters coming in.
Unbeknownst to them, there's a wizard that's guarding the forest.
He is animating the forest to bring it to life to take on the bulldozer.
Literally only in the minds of Scott and Owen could this
possibly be born.
I love it.
It's the hippies versus the engineers.
This is great. This is what we're talking about.
Excellent. Any movement?
Any moving pieces, yes or no?
Yes. There's gonna be like...
We kind of want to build like, a tornado of energy around the wizard.
OK. Good luck. I can't wait to see it.
BOTH: Thanks, Brickman.
There are only three teams left
and we know that everyone here has made it this far for a reason.
Everyone here is ridiculously good at what they're doing.
Four by twos.
We want to kind of make it technically strong
and also set us up as different from the rest of the teams.
Coming out.
And fluff it up, man. Don't fluff it up.
Yeah.
Alright. Let's get on to it. OK.
What are they doing over there?
Sorry. Just...
RYAN: Spacing out with blocks.
It's gonna be big.
Don't think about them. Yeah, stop.
I cannot believe we've actually made it here.
It's just ridiculous. I know, it's so exciting.
We want him going kind of high, don't we?
How high?
I think we've had the more interesting journey to the finals
than other teams.
Definitely went the scenic route. Yep.
ALL: Oh! (THUNDER CRACKS)
It's the Brick of Doom!
We survived. We survived Lego Masters.
Yeah, exactly.
And we're still talking to each other, still building OK together.
Oh!
Hamish!
I've learnt a lot about what it means to really, truly
work well with someone.
The pressure of the ball releasing it on one side.
The best way to demonstrate is to build it and then...
It's about knowing your strengths and their strengths
and finding a middle space where you can work together.
(LAUGHS) Is that alright?
I mean, it looks a bit odd.
Wow. Too much?
Just some cleavage. Her boobs.
We know that we do the best builds when we're having fun.
I'm laughing, I'm chuckling. We might be into this.
We do build a lot of technical stuff.
It's a fun story.
It's colourful, it's bright, and it's hilarious.
It's amazing how far we've come.
Not only did we find a winner but we lose the Brick of Doom.
Gabby and Ryan, you've done it! (CHEERING)
And being in the finale, wow.
How on earth did we get this far?
It's amazing.
And we have a fire in our belly that
we are absolutely proud of ourselves.
Yeah, I honestly couldn't have asked for a better partner.
We want something in the real world
with a magical twist
because that's kind of what we...
That is what we do well. Do well.
We need to play to our strengths now.
We really need to focus on what's
the point of difference between us and the other builders.
It gives us lots of scope for fun and funny and colour.
So, we're thinking Circus. Circus.
Our idea is to actually divide the stage into four areas
and then we want it to actually rotate
and each scene will be viewable from all angles.
But we also want a couple of stories which carry through,
that tell a little progression.
Well, could you make it move?
I mean, could you have a spinning circus?
I mean, could you? I'm asking you seriously.
Technically is it possible? Yes.
It's possible? It's possible.
We want to make a rotating mechanism to make all these
gorgeous scenes sitting on this big rotating platform move around.
Give it a go.
Coming out.
We need to make sure it's strong
'cause this has to carry a lot of weight.
And this is I think one of the hardest builds we've done.
To be able to use all those skills that we've honed over this
whole series, this is absolutely what we need to win today.
What do you reckon? Oh!
You are having so much more forward progression than I am.
No. This is looking amazing.
I don't know what it does but I'm impressed.
(CHUCKLES)
What do you think? That's gonna look sick.
Dude! Far out, man.
It's actually bigger than I thought it was gonna be.
Really? Yeah. Oops.
Like, I could see that coming.
Yeah, we're really pumped.
We made it to the finale, big deal.
(LAUGHS) (OFFHANDEDLY) Big deal.
(LAUGHTER) It's a big deal.
It is a big deal.
We came here to do our best and to really achieve something big
and we think that getting to the finale is absolutely it.
And now we want to win the title.
BRICKMAN: I can't believe that this early in Lego Masters
I've seen a piece of art.
Because that's what that is.
Thanks.
I love building creatures out of Lego.
I really enjoy getting
those little details that create the expression in the animals' faces.
Oh! Dude, that is sick!
The way he builds his creatures is phenomenal.
I'm learning a lot from him. He makes it look so simple.
Yeah. Hands off.
Yes. Oh, that looks so good.
Look, we've been pushed in creative ways that we didn't think
we were going to be.
(EXHALES)
I don't know, man. I don't know.
But the reason that I applied for Lego Masters in the first place
was to really push myself creatively and technically.
(GROWLS)
Winning Lego Masters would be the ultimate way to prove to ourselves
that we've been as artistic and as creative as we can be.
Judged by someone like Brickman.
It's something to be super proud of.
It's abstract but in a meaningful way.
It's colourful.
It tells a great story.
That belongs in a Lego storefront, that's how good it is.
The quality of the build, the quality of the pose,
the quality of the expression.
I reckon you've mastered that.
I wanted to be in Lego Masters,
to go through the experience of feeling that rush and that joy
of playing with Lego and creating beautiful things and...
Oh! ..to be able to do that with Gus
has been the best experience ever.
Man, that looks alright. (LAUGHS)
I guess it's a deer.
We think we've learnt a lot
about composition and storytelling through creatures
so we definitely want to play to our strengths.
For our finale build today
we're going to build a big environment,
a big scene
with a small family of deer drinking some water.
We've got a large male deer looking around.
Its gaze has moved.
It's heard the sound of the lone wolf
but hasn't noticed at all the two other wolves on the right-hand side.
But what you are really doing in your Lego build,
it's about anticipation.
BOTH: Yes.
The whole thing is about we don't
know what's going to happen but something's gonna happen.
And that's the key differentiator.
We really want that moment in time.
We want it to be just before the deer have gone,
we're in trouble.
We haven't got any mechanisms in this build.
It's more about the pose to make the thing look like it's moving.
This build does come down to the expression on the deer
and the pose of the deer.
Building on this scale there's nowhere to hide.
I mean, everything needs to look good.
Everything needs to look like it is polished.
Otherwise you are going to be able to see all the flaws in the build.
But this is going to be playing to everything that we've learnt so far
during the competition.
So, if we can pull it off, I think it's going to look amazing.
Hey, Owen?
If I take the eyes off, right?
What do you reckon it is now?
It's a no eye deer/no idea.
It's a walk off.
(CHUCKLES)
SCOTT: How good in the house. RYAN: Come on.
Alright, guys, I don't want to panic you
but by now you should be finished...
..the first little bit.
That's two hours down. Two hours down.
Classic clock-man gag.
OK, good fun. Two hours in, 26 to go.
Oh, my god!
He stands.
Where are we? We're on Lego Masters.
Brickman, here we are again, the finale.
Third year running.
I want to ask you about bang for buck.
Each build has something that it's critical to the final result.
Ryan and Gabby, it is a rotating big top
showing different scenes inside the circus.
Roll up, roll up.
I've no doubt that they'll make great characters
and it's going to be really funny.
However, it's all about the mechanism.
It's their method of storytelling.
RYAN: Once again sinking hours into mechanisms
that no-one is even going to see.
Scott and Owen.
A ferocious pace set already.
Jeepers, this thing is...
Yeah, it's becoming a mammoth, isn't it?
It's a mammoth.
Their teamwork is really shining through.
They have proved to us
how good they are from a technical perspective
so I don't think they're going to be defeated by it.
The question is going to be how effective is it, the story.
It needs to be obvious.
So, it's got to be sitting here.
Gus and David.
The deer is going to be the hero.
Really, for those guys, in terms of posing, how critical is it?
Essential.
Particularly because if you are
trying to not only pose it the right way but show an emotion,
it's the fine details like that can really show what's happening.
You know what would be nice?
If we could tilt the head a bit.
Going like...
Do a test. No weight on it. Need to put some weight.
Too much? No.
It's a hard-working Lazy Susan.
Yeah, that's the opposite of a Lazy Susan, that's an industrious Susan.
(LAUGHTER)
RYAN: Our idea is to actually divide
the stage areas P act one, act two, act three, finale.
Lower it on. Yeah.
I'm a bit out of reach here.
It's not covered.
We want it to actually rotate
and each scene will be viewable from all angles.
So, this is obviously the whole mechanism around make it rotate.
Yes.
How does the tent sit around that?
Rather than actually build the entire tent
'cause obviously that has a whole structural integrity issue as well,
we are actually going to have it sectioned off.
Alright.
So, there is no moment of mystery to
see what the next act is 'cause you can see it coming anyway.
Yes.
It means nothing if they are all open and you can see all of them
and it's just rotating around.
What if you had the big top that doesn't move?
The inside rotates and, you know,
the curtain's pulled away
so we can see what's happening on the inside.
This is a great trick that you are doing.
Don't destroy the illusion of these acts happening in the big top.
That's a good point. (LAUGHS NERVOUSLY)
Good luck. BOTH: Thank you.
We've not factored in any time to build a giant big top...
No.
..that's self supporting and doesn't touch the structure inside,
'cause we still want that to move.
So there can be nothing rubbing, nothing touching.
I'm terrified.
Oh, my god! (LAUGHS)
(DRAMATIC MUSIC)
(DRAMATIC MUSIC)
Being in the finale, it's a dream come true.
Every time you run past that trophy you just dare to want it.
So, today we're going to be building a minifigure circus,
rotating around with all these gorgeous scenes.
What if you had the big top that doesn't move?
The inside rotates and the curtain's pulled away
so we can see what's happening on the inside.
Eek!
Brickman comes along and does the right thing.
He tells you how much more exciting it'll be if you build a circus tent.
(LAUGHS NERVOUSLY)
But eugh!
I just know how much work it's going to be.
You are embracing this?
Let's see what it will take to knock up a technic frame.
It's going to be really quite a technical challenge.
No, it needs to be taller than that.
How much by?
Another one of these. Really?
It can't touch the build underneath.
No.
We're putting this all under a big, big top.
And having it all self-supporting.
'Cause the build has to spin freely underneath.
But if we can pull it off
I think we've got a pretty good chance of taking that trophy home.
It's looking good. That'll do it.
Alright, everyone, you now have 20 hours left.
(EXHALES)
Any sense of calm that you felt
while you were in the 20s now evaporates.
As you move in to what's known in finale language
as the high tension teens.
You're in the teens now! Things are heating up.
OWEN: Coming around.
RYAN: Gee!
The first branch coming probably about this high?
Yeah.
We really want it to be above the deer head, don't we.
That thing is huge.
GUS: It's gonna be a epic.
Can't believe how fast they've done it as well.
Guys, there is a lot of Lego.
Yeah.
I just don't think I'm seen your hands slow down.
We're running like, a marathon at a sprint pace.
Do you even know if you are looking good, timewise?
Not really. No idea.
Can I throw a couple of words at you, Scotty,
and tell me how far through you are with them.
Tree people. Minimal.
Minimal but beginning, I see. But beginning. We've got one guy.
Wizard. Non-existent.
Energy whirlwind? Um...
Conceptualised. Yes.
Conceptualised?
Conceptualised. That's a good one, yeah.
Our build is Engineers Versus Hippies.
It's like a battle between nature and man.
Coming in a big bulldozer will be the civilisation of man.
Yeah, that's good speed.
Yep.
And then on the nature side there's like this wizard
that is harnessing all this shaka, good vibes energy
out of the natural earth and stones and bringing trees to life.
So, I'm just trying to get the base of the wizard sort of cairn,
I think they're called.
Like, a rocky outcrop.
And in the rocky outcrop you'll be able to see
all these little pockets of ore.
And the glowing ore is what's going to be powering our wizard.
Little wizard is on his cyclone of energy.
The nature of the technique is that it is quite fragile.
Oh, shoot.
There are lots and lots of tiny little components.
Eugh! Go there.
Eugh.
Eugh.
Eugh.
And putting every single one of those together
is making me a bit batty.
I'm losing my marbles again
to make something wowsers.
Alright.
See Gus's antelope.
What a jerk, making good Lego.
OK. We're nearly done with this deer.
Are you done, dear? Nearly, dear.
We're building a diorama essentially
with some deer being hunted by the wolves.
I love building creatures out of Lego.
I really enjoy getting those little details that create the expression
in the animals' faces.
It's looking pretty good, actually.
I think the reason we've gone for deer today
is probably because they have quite good storytelling elements to them.
Like, they're big, grand creatures.
They often look like they're thinking or doing something.
How's that do you reckon?
Love it. We love it.
I'm building the smaller, female deer.
It's going quite well. I'm pretty happy with it.
I've got a cool pose for the legs.
Getting the legs right, they're a bit tricky.
They're a little bit different from other animals.
That's not right at all, Gus.
Kind of got funny legs.
They're quite long and slender so
I'm really just trying to work through that.
You OK, man?
Yeah, I just can't get this leg right
and it's just really getting to me.
As the host of a show like this,
it is your responsibility to stay out of the builds, to just observe.
Approved.
Having said that, Gus and I are kind of like two artists collaborating.
You know when a deer senses something?
Yep.
There's standing up casually...
Yep. But there's also...
Do you know what I mean?
Before they bolt.
Yeah, I know what you mean.
The crazy thing about Gus and I is
we have what's known as artist's respect.
'Cause he's an artist and so am I.
He recognises that in me, I recognise that in him.
Game recognise game.
It's great.
We're really just gelling out there, working as a team.
Food for thought.
Definitely food for thought.
Two deer experts.
Two dear experts just...
Two dear friends and deer experts going head-to-head
just trying to get this right.
Clip clop, clip, clop, clip, clop.
Coming in.
Coming round.
Coming through.
Coming out.
Guys, Lego Masters is a game of two halves.
You are now officially transitioning
from that first half into the second half.
You've got 14 hours to go.
The question you have to ask yourself is...
(QUIETLY) Are you halfway?
..are you halfway?
Brickman, you have the golden brick.
Who would be getting it at this stage?
Oh!
BRICKMAN: Well, at this stage...
it looks like three half finished builds to me.
So nobody is getting the golden brick yet.
But... It's a no brick.
This is a new thing.
If you want that hundo you must build with gusto.
(LAUGHTER)
(QUIETLY) Now, Brickman, here's my question to you.
You know what is being built. You know what's possible with Lego.
Do you think everyone is on track
to create the wow moment or are some wows bigger than others?
I feel like P I know this is going
to sound really cliche P but I feel like
this is so close between all three teams, and they can sense that.
Let's do a test.
Yeah?
Oh, no, it hit it. It hit something.
Yeah, I reckon that's the stance. What do you reckon?
What do you reckon? What?
For the big guy there.
So, I'm working on the trees.
I spend a lot of time in nature
so I'm kind of drawing inspiration from myself
for some of these tree folk, you know?
He's on the go, right? He's running.
Like that? Yeah, I reckon.
No. I like that. Why did you ask me?
Because he's like this. He's gonna crumple like that.
Alright. I reckon...
OK, we've got it.
So, while Scotty is building trees,
I'm trying to sell the story of the wizard in charge of everything
by using this sort of blue energy.
He's harvesting it and it's bringing these tree people to life.
And they've gone to battle against this engineer-y civilisation.
It's looking sick.
Our wizard is our centrepiece.
He's gonna be our only source of movement.
So, up in the corner we want him in like,
a hurricane or a big ball of energy.
We want that to spin around.
Ahh!
Wow, the sparkle.
The wizard is on his cyclone of energy and it's working.
It's looking sweet. It is looking frickin' wicked, man.
I'm loving it, man.
Alright, time out.
It's time for a Scotty and Owen.
Let stand back and have a look at the Lego model, OK?
Righto. I, right now, cannot tell what's going on.
There's no clear story.
It's the moment of impact.
It's that one split second.
Once I'm in that build, it's beautiful.
There's all this cool stuff happening and it's really awesome
and I'm like, oh, yeah, look at that, that's really great.
But not from back here.
You've got a millisecond for people to figure out what's going on
and when they do, they have bought into it.
BOTH: Yeah. That's the key.
Good luck, guys. BOTH: Thanks, Brickman.
Our story is still not clear.
OK.
Always listen to Brickman.
Yeah, always listen to Brickman. We learnt that early on.
That is an essential rule.
Park yourself.
And let's have a serious think.
If we just keep going at this rate,
our build is going to be absolutely cluttered
and a giant mess at the end.
We need to make those big decisions for the good of the build.
Gus. Gus, does this help?
Is it sort of like eating, eating, eating.
Hears something...
Do you know what I mean?
Like...
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah. That makes sense.
Back to work. Thank you.
Did that help, Gus? I'm not sure yet.
OK.
OK.
Let's not think about if we can do it, let's just think about the idea.
OK, yeah, I'm with you.
So, Brickman has come over.
He said our story is still not clear.
And he has referenced the fact that there is no moment of impact.
There's no big battle between the two.
So we've got to figure out a way of making it more concise.
I feel like we need...
The motion and the energy comes from that blue, right?
So just...
I think we need to play with this more
because it creates movement and it creates action.
So maybe on this side it starts to loop down
and joins up with some of this energy
and he's creating that push...
..at this.
Via a Wizard blast.
I like that idea.
So, our solution to this is to have
the wizard harnessing all of this energy, not only to bring the trees
to life, but to create this massive energy blast hitting our bulldozer.
We're trying to draw inspiration from our Dr Strange build
where it's like, one big moment of impact.
And also from our very first wizard builds
where we get that kind of beam of energy.
So, a culmination of those and hopefully that sells the story,
gives the scene a lot of action, makes it pop.
Blue we're going to need more of that blue.
Alright, everyone, you have got eight hours.
Eight hours to go.
Oh no, Brickman, does that mean 20 hours are down?
Eight hours to go, everybody.
The last push. Let's do it.
Yeah, brilliant. Really wears your arms out.
(DRAMATIC MUSIC)
(LAUGHS)
Sorry. Oh, stop it. That looks so cool.
How cool is that?
Finally it's looking like a circus.
This wasn't part of our original design but I think it's going to
have a lot more presence when people first walk into the room.
I'm kind of working on wolf heads.
I feel like I've captured a bit of a quiet aggression.
Wolves don't have the muscles in their eyebrows to sort of give
empathy and make them look sad or anything like that that dogs have.
They just never evolved like that.
So yeah, it's just an interesting little fact about wolves' eyebrows.
(CHUCKLES)
(HOWLS)
OK. Hey, boys.
Hey, how's it going?
Sorry, I just need your attention for a sec.
I've gone to quite a lot of effort putting this together.
OK.
I thought it would be a cool idea to get all
your previous builds and edit them together to inspirational music...
Oh. ..to fire up you up.
Great. For the run home. Are you ready?
I've been waiting for this.
Why do I think this is going to go a different way?
Now, a lot of shows, it's the finale,
they might do something like get the contestants' families in,
just for like that emotional touch,
but we are not going to stoop that...
Oh, no. Yes, we are. Yep, no, we're not beyond that.
We're gonna do the same thing. That's what the big screen is for.
Oh! (WARM MUSIC)
Hi.
We're so happy to see you.
Got him! It's your family, Dave!
Oh, no way! Oh, wow!
Yes!
Is this live? It is live, yes!
This is live? This is live, yes!
Hola! You can say hello,
hola, to them! Yes!
We're thrilled that you're fulfilling your dream
of playing with tiny little Lego figures.
(LAUGHS)
Beautiful moment. Yeah.
Hi! Hey, Gus, it's your family!
How's it going?
Good. Good.
(WARM MUSIC WARPS) (CHUCKLES)
You guys are as comfortable on television as I am.
(LAUGHTER)
Hi, Mum! Hi, Dad! Oh, it's mum and dad!
It's Scott's influence. He's made him grow his hair out.
Hey, guys. How are you going? Good to see you.
(LAUGHTER)
And we snuck 'top knob' into a family show.
Ah, I think it's good. Now we get to listen to Scott's.
And so Scotty...
(VARIOUS ENTHUSIASTIC GREETINGS)
I like your haircut, Dad!
What's that on top of your head, Owen?
I believe it's called a top knob, as my Dad would call it.
Top knob. Yes!
Ryan. Yep?
(WARM MUSIC)
(LAUGHS) I'm gonna turn to mush. I can feel it.
Who's that? Hi, Dad!
Hi, Charlotte!
Hi, honey!
That's Hamish. That is Hamish.
Did you hear that?
She's more interested in seeing you than she is me!
I don't actually... (CHUCKLES)
But anyway. Whatever. You're not on Bluey.
Gab, would you like
to speak to your family? Yeah.
Hey! It's them! Hello!
Oh, you look delighted!
(LAUGHS) Hi!
Hello?
Hi. Oh, there!
(LAUGHS) See you, guys!
OK, Gab. Feeling it? Yep.
Feeling inspired? Yep, yep, yep.
Alright, guys, emotional scenes here no doubt as everyone
gets to speak to their family, but look, a lot of the time
on shows like this, you know, the crew gets neglected.
And so, as a bit of a special treat for everyone here,
a bit of a surprise - I've organised all the crew's family as well
to join us via Zoom.
(CHUCKLING)
Look at that. Unbelievable. What?!
Incredible.
I can see it's got Nige.
Got him good. There we go.
Naw, it's got you Nige. No. Ooh,
don't drop your focus. Keep shooting. Oh, OK.
OK, guys. Back to work. You too, Nige.
Man, that was a huge distraction. Was it? I know!
(TENSE MUSIC)
I can do this. I can do this.
(LOUD RUSTLING) Jesus Christ.
Welcome to the table.
(LAUGHS) Alrighty, guys,
you have got four hours left!
That is 24 hours down.
(EXHALES) Golly.
โช So much to do, so much to see. โช
Have you finished wizard blast? Nearly done.
So that's where his power's going to, there.
Yeah, it looks cool, man.
OK. We have trees.
I have been working on the trees
that will be framing the entire scene.
So what I'm going to do is I'm going to add a lot of foliage.
I'm going to have a lot of extensions with the branches,
so each one of them is going to be connected like this,
and that way we can bend them a little bit and they can look like
more organic branches.
Look at this doh-a-deer thing idea. Oh!
I've got both deer done, and the wolves.
We really now can start putting things in place
and set-dressing the way we wanted to.
Alright.
I reckon this way.
That looks so good.
All this build has come down to the expression and the pose
of the creatures, and if we don't get it right,
it could be the difference between us winning and losing.
But looking at the deer's legs,
there's something off about it.
This section here is too long. I think it needs
to go up maybe two-thirds.
So, I think what I got wrong
is the elbow joint is not high enough.
So I'm gonna lift that up a little bit and make
that brown section a lot more chunky.
OK, that's way better.
(EXHALES) Chippy, chippy, chippy.
Such rattle. (CHUCKLES)
So that's her. She's holding his pants, and that's him.
He's come out of the pants. It's fine art.
(CHUCKLES)
(CHUCKLES) (CHUCKLES) Awesome.
Ah-ha!
A sense of humour. You're bringing out
the jokes now. It's good.
It's what we want.
Finally, the tent is together and we're working on our stories.
Does that look like Annie?
I love it. Tea with Annie.
We wanted to have fortune tellers, ticket booth...
Food. Food, a couple of port-a-loos.
We want to create that fun, circus, fun fair atmosphere.
Yeah.
(EPIC MUSIC)
Are we gonna test it? Do you want to test it?
We probably should.
Test the mechanism.
It's looking great.
(CLICKING NOISE) Oh!
What was that?
One of the - the dude on the...
Oh!
What? What, what?
Just she and him just shot out. The trapeze artists?
Yeah, the trapeze. Why?
(CAROUSEL MUSIC)
(CLICKING NOISE) Oh!
What was that?
Oh! What, what, what?
She and him just shot out. The trapeze artists?
Yeah, the trapeze.
As one of the particular scenes goes past,
the trapeze catches on a beam that's hanging down from the roof
at the front.
But it's basically ripped apart both of the trapeze acts
and is now catching on the lights on every single build.
It's very tense.
No. Do you know what it is?
The circus sign's too heavy.
Oh, no! Really?
It can't take the weight.
(TENSE MUSIC) (GROANS)
Oh, my goodness. This is the culmination
of our whole time on the show, and we're gonna present
a half-finished tent. It's just awful.
Guys, I know it's getting intense - no pun intended - but at the end,
we do need everything on, lights turned on,
everything moving when it hits zero-zero-zero.
We've got no choice.
The only way to stop this thing from tearing itself apart
is to de-skin it
and remove that beam.
Oh, my God. I'm gonna be sick.
(SLIGHT CRUNCHING NOISE) Oh, my God.
(DRAMATIC MUSIC)
I just feel so helpless.
I just - I'm panicking.
I don't know how to fix the mechanism
of what's inside this tent. This is Ryan's work.
That leaves the rest of the little mini-figure stories to me.
Alright.
People. I'll just do people.
I'm gonna be putting that in your hands.
OK. People, people, people!
It's the main event here!
Oh, my God. It's carnage. It's like - oh, forgot heads.
(DRAMATIC MUSIC)
Alrighty, guys - in a season where we've told you to expect
the unexpected...
As a special treat,
you can just expect the expected. Right now,
you've got one hour to go! Far out, man.
This is your final hour
building on Lego Masters. Make it count!
What, one? Yes, one hour!
This is it. Where did the rest of the time go?
One hour. One hour.
It's been going one second per second. The same as always.
(LAUGHTER)
Oh, my God.
(EXHALES) Breathe,
breathe.
So it's about an hour to go.
We've got a big bulldozer at the back.
We've got the big wizard with his spiralling energy swirl,
with his big, powerful wizard blast coming through
and smacking the front of the dozer.
Now I can kind of see the distinction
between the two sides.
The moment of impact. It's there. Now it's a battle,
not just a scene.
We've got our wizard up in the corner, and we've put in
pulsing lights to give that
pulsing energy sort of feel to the scene.
That's better. Yes!
But we need something that mirrors
the motion on the other side of the scene.
My stress levels are sky-high. I'm holding a helicopter
that's attached to an unfinished tree.
So I start building the helicopter
and I just want to mechanise it, but I know we shouldn't.
Come on, Owen. Stay focused.
I think someone's broken Owen's switch.
(MUSIC WARPS)
What we're seeing now is Owen speed.
Activate hands.
(ENERGETIC MUSIC)
Before it was like, ah yeah, working your way up.
Now we're moving up. Go, Owen, go.
Getting to the level, it was like, boom,
you've unlocked star power, man.
Boop-boop.
(QUIRKY MUSIC)
These hands!
I mean, I'm just standing here so people know we haven't
sped the vision up, because it just sort of looks like your hands
will look like an editing trick. Yes,
of course. So I'm here moving
as a normal human, and then we've got you moving
at Owen speed. Excellent.
Ah, I'd love to chat more,
but sorry, my mind... (CHUCKLES) Build, build, build.
Alright, alright, alright. (TENSE MUSIC)
Still alive, man?
Still alive, man.
Good man. Stay alive for the next hour.
Running out of time. We've got a lot of stuff to do.
This is the Lego Masters finale,
so we have to go hard. We have to go fast.
We got this. We got this. Come on.
Let's go. Let's move like there's
$100,000 at the end of the line.
Sounds good. Sounds good.
(EPIC MUSIC)
The wolves are in place. I'm happy with the composition of them.
I'm happy with the story being told through the creatures.
The deer's leg. I think what I've got
looks right, but I'm not sure.
Permission to touch? Permission granted.
I'm not allowed to touch the Lego. Maybe season four.
Dave's done a really great job doing the trees. It looks organic,
and it frames the scene as well.
We really just need to set-dress this thing now,
make it look beautiful, make it look realistic.
God, whose idea was it to build a giant forest?
What happened to the flippin' axle? Where's the axle? It was in there.
Where's the axle gone?
OWEN: Comin' out!
Ooh, geez!
It can't come down to this.
If we can't finish this...
Firing up.
..it's not losing $100k, it's...
Downright embarrassing. 28 hours wasted.
Oh, man. After 28 hours... My heart's going
a million miles an hour.
(TENSE MUSIC)
Oh, finally!
So I finally get this beam that's hanging down from the roof,
and now I need to get this tent back together.
Just whack it on there.
Five minutes, everybody!
Joking.
Gabby and Ryan currently showing that it is not over until it's over.
Done.
Alright. Do you want to try putting this up top again?
Breathe, Ryan.
Five minutes is a long time.
Anything can happen.
Do not give up, guys.
You've got this. Keep building.
Oh!
Hey, guys. It's the last time we'll see you. It's been a pleasure.
(DRAMATIC MUSIC)
The helicopter is now at the top of this big framing tree in the back.
How does this look? Sick.
Does it work?
Far out, man.
Super-happy.
All time good vibes.
It's freakin' sick. I love it. Oh, man. Look at this thing.
It'd be sick to win this, man. Yeah. The money's great,
but the Lego Masters title is even better, man.
And that trophy is sick, man.
You can build a sun out of it, or keep it as a trophy, man.
Like, dude. You want to dismantle the trophy?!
Yeah, turn it into a sun! A Lego Masters trophy sun.
Oh, man. So you wake up in the morning
and get the sun rising
even if it's dark outside. So I guess it stays at my house!
If we were to get there.
(EPIC MUSIC)
I can't believe it has come down...
Well, I can believe it. It always does.
You've got one minute!
Geez, I wish I geared it faster! This is your final minute, and Ryan,
you've still got to put on
the final piece! Jesus!
It's the next one, the next one! It is the next one!
You've got 50 seconds! I bet you wish
you'd built that Lazy Susan a little less lazy!
I really do!
(TENSE MUSIC)
Gimme another boom. Can you give me one?
We don't have time.
Another boom. Yes, you do. Get another boom.
Make sure everything is on,
everything is working.
Careful, panels are on. Can you see any loose roots anywhere?
I cannot.
Here, Scotty. Whatever you do, place it so delicately.
Slow down. Ten, nine...
BOTH: Eight, seven, six, five,
four, three, two, one.
Hands off! That is it!
Far out.
Well done. Well done, everyone.
That is the last bit of Lego you will lay in Lego Masters...
Amazing. ..and that is incredible.
I can't believe 28 hours
and it came down to the last second. It always does.
It feels like you've pulled off
a miracle. (LAUGHS)
Like, I'm just so relieved.
Absolutely proud of ourselves. Like, it's got
a bit of both of us in it, and we've just...
Yeah. We've had fun with it,
we've done a lot of technical mastery in there.
It's magical, actually.
Man, that's unreal. I can't believe how many bricks are on there.
I'm stoked with that. We did a number.
We did a number.
Could not be more chuffed that this is our Lego Masters legacy.
We just hope that Brick Man and the public like our build.
Yeah, well done, man. I'm really happy.
That took us 28 hours, and it's beautiful.
Having looked at the other two builds in the room,
they're both amazing.
That looks sick. This is freakin' excellent.
GUS: It's gonna be a really, really close race again.
(DRAMATIC MUSIC)
(EPIC MUSIC)
(WARM MUSIC)
Step right up. Roll up, roll up.
What do you love about the circus? First off, the idea.
Yeah. We haven't seen the idea before
on the show. And that counts,
that counts for a lot. It's not like anything we've seen.
It's bright, it's colourful, and most importantly, it's fun.
(PLEASANT CROWD NOISE)
RYAN: We're really happy with our rotating circus.
(TRIUMPHANT MUSIC)
We had lots of different ideas about how this might look,
but I think we've actually pulled it off.
I'm pretty proud of what we've got. Yeah, I think people will enjoy
looking at it, and that's what we were aiming for.
I reckon we're absolutely in with a chance on this one.
Now, the advantage of having four rotating scenes
rather than just the one scene, first of all, has it worked?
It has. It has.
It's certainly enhanced the build,
because what it's doing is,
I'm actually naturally drawn into it,
because I want to see what the next fun thing happening is.
This is the first time I've looked at it front on.
I think by having the rotating builds,
it sort of builds the pressure, right.
Everything has to be good, and it's great -
like the trapeze moving. Totally.
All the different things. This is where they're throwing in
all the circus tricks.
The clown car, things going wrong,
all of these fun little things are absolutely awesome.
The guy shot out of the cannon, an absolute classic.
Stuck in the wall. Stuck in the wall.
So, if you had to pick one fault, what would it be?
OK, this is a really tough one.
The way that they've done the circus tent,
it's an incredibly difficult thing to do.
So we're talking about a high difficulty level,
but there are some really big gaps between the red and the white,
those stripes.
So I would have loved to have seen a little more attention paid
on tightening some of those things up.
That's from a pure technical perspective.
I get it. I mean, it's the finale. You've got to nit-pick.
I mean, I asked you for a fault.
You... So you've delivered.
How should Gabby and Ryan be feeling about this?
Proud. Yeah.
Very proud.
It's a great build, and absolutely worthy
as part of our three finalists.
(EXHALES)
Alright, well, I feel like I've just gotta say it.
Why does this look so beautiful?
(WARM MUSIC)
(FOREST NOISES)
GUS: Our story is there's a family of deer in a beautiful forest...
DAVID: Just drinking water and minding their own business...
(TENSE MUSIC)
The deer has heard the sound of the lone wolf
out the back.
Looking around, its gaze has moved,
but it hasn't noticed at all the two other wolves
on the right-hand side.
(GROWLING)
I can't believe we've built the scenery that's in front of us.
We've never built anything to this scale before.
It's by far the biggest thing that we've ever built.
It's turned out really beautiful.
And it's something that we can really be proud of.
If this is going to be our legacy in the show, it's a good legacy.
We've spoken a lot
about implied movement... Yep.
..and this is a great textbook example
of why you don't need motors and moving things.
You know that something's about to happen.
You can actually physically tell.
The wolf's leg. Yeah.
The deer's head is slightly turned. There's a lot of implied movement
about to happen.
It's like every trick in the book has been pulled out,
and what it's given you, unbeknownst to us,
it's given us an emotion... Yes.
..of anticipation.
Mmm. It is really hard to do,
and I think they've captured the moment beautifully.
I do want to talk about the trees. Let's talk about the trees.
First off, I love the trees. The trees are great.
They are the framing of what's happening.
They are the thing that's drawing us into this.
But one thing has been nagging me.
What's that? There's a bit missing
on one of the trees.
Ah. And it's showing
the magic. It's blowing the magic.
But there's no question at all
that not only did they capture the moment,
which is a skill in itself,
my feeling is I'm waiting for it to happen!
I feel like if we stood here long enough, they'd jump.
Something's gonna happen. That's what it feels like.
Yep, chef's kiss.
Alright. Scotty and Owen,
our masters of building worlds have saved the best until last.
(EPIC MUSIC)
OWEN: Today's build is engineers versus hippies.
There's this big bulldozer coming to destroy the forest,
and they're coming to get to the energy that's in the forest,
with drill rigs coming up through it and helicopters coming in,
and then on the nature side, there's like this wizard,
harnessing all this energy out of the natural earth,
not only to bring the trees to life,
but to create this massive energy blast,
hitting our bulldozer.
We've put in our heart and soul into this build,
we've delivered the best we can with every second we've had.
It'd mean the world to be crowned champion of Lego Masters.
Hell yeah.
Yeah, these guys have created
essentially like a three-part book trilogy.
Like, they've just created a world. For sure.
And that's a pretty crazy skill.
It is, and it's like they were 11 again
and they were playing and making this world together.
(MYSTERIOUS MUSIC)
Is it the best world they've created?
I think so. Yeah.
They've taken all of the things they've learned on Lego Masters
and put it together.
Standing here, sort of taking it in now,
finished for the first time,
the use of half the base-plate being barren
and old trees being hacked apart,
and it being mined or destroyed already,
into this kind of lush world where the battlefield is,
the more I look at it, the more I love it,
the more I feel like it's a great use of nothingness -
the negative space that you talk about...
Uh-huh. ..versus all the action over there.
Absolutely. That is storytelling.
That's an art. Composition-wise,
are you happy with the balance they found?
It's very, very full.
I don't think they needed the helicopter to be moving.
I think that takes away from the wizard.
In this case, probably less is a little bit more.
But you kind of don't want to leave.
There's a lot to look at and there's a world to get lost in.
I think you summed this up perfectly -
this is like a trilogy of books.
It is. And you know what?
I want to turn the next page and read this next chapter.
(BUZZER) (MUSIC BUILDS)
CHILD: Oh, my God!
(EPIC MUSIC) This is amazing!
So cool. That's amazing.
They've got like a water spiral.
Alright, hi everybody! How's it going?
Has everyone got their vote ready to cast their vote?
Have fun, enjoy it, soak it in, take your time.
Not too much time, obviously - we're on a bit of a schedule -
but enjoy! Enjoy!
The scaling and everything. Incredible.
So scenic.
I've never seen Lego this big.
It's like it's amazing sculpting.
I don't know, it's just like very cool. Very, very cool.
That is sick as.
Ridiculous.
That one is amazing.
I'm definitely going to vote for the wizard.
I love the way that the hills move. I love all the different ways
that they've used motors.
It's just been really, really intricately thought out.
I love that extra bit of effort that you can really see in the build.
Oh, look. There's a circus.
(EPIC MUSIC)
That's awesome. And they're eating hotdogs. Look! Ha!
The circus was great. I feel like you had to go delve in a bit deeper
to find the little stories,
and there was a lot of humour in it. Amazing.
It's got my vote.
Look at the river!
The deer's even drinking. Yeah!
That's beautiful!
I love how the deer are so sweet and the wolves are so sinister.
They've really caught the personality.
It's the first time I've seen Lego really
just have so much beauty.
It's really special. It makes you feel,
which is a pretty rare thing.
I actually think I might vote for this one.
OK, guys, you have the power.
Enjoy it. I mean that.
I don't have the power.
I wonder what that power feels like.
(EPIC MUSIC)
BRICK MAN: At the end of the day, here on Lego Masters,
there are so many brilliant ideas
and such incredible imagination,
it does come down to execution.
You have to be able to execute what's in your brain,
and make it completely relatable and understandable
to everybody that looks at it.
Well, I feel like we've been saying it
for a number of weeks now -
you do not have an easy job.
I do not have an easy job. There are three
compelling cases in here for that golden brick.
You've got a big decision to make. As always,
I'll leave you to make it by yourself.
Thank you.
And I'll go and get a snack.
Good luck. Cheers.
(LIGHT CLAPPING AND CHEERING)
GABBY: I'm nervous. Why am I nervous?
(BUZZER)
Here they are. Come on in.
(EPIC MUSIC) (CONTESTANTS EXPRESS AWE)
Yes!
And behold!
(LAUGHTER)
Oh, wow.
And cease fire.
Alright, well, guys -
as you can probably tell, we can't have a live crowd this year
for obvious reasons.
But what we can do is over-compensate
with every television special effect
money can buy. The mandatory shiny floor.
The arrival pathway of sparklers. I mean,
even just for making it this far, I'd like to say,
congrats on the builds.
They look incredible. Round of applause.
(APPLAUSE)
I also think they deserve just a bit of a...
(LOUD BANG) (CHEERING)
Just a one gun salute.
Just a classic sparkler gun. Tick.
Don't worry, there'll be lots more special effects.
But before we get to the special effects and the winner,
Brick Man, what's your thoughts on these teams for the series?
So, Scotty and Owen,
you started off by winning Castles and Cannonballs.
It seems so long ago, but if I look at your build now,
the foundations from that build are there.
All of your builds throughout Lego Masters
have culminated together,
and that build reads like a three-part trilogy.
(CHUCKLING) It actually does!
It's a world, it's a galaxy, it's a universe all together,
and bringing a world together in a way that people
can easily understand is an artform,
and you guys absolutely delivered that.
Unreal. Well done, guys.
(APPLAUSE)
Nice work, dude.
Gabby and Ryan, you had the worst possible start
in the history of Lego Masters.
You got the Brick of Doom.
(THUNDER AND SCREAMING)
But you did incredibly well.
I think you're the team that has developed
as Lego builders and as a team more than any other.
And your skills were finely honed.
It's gotten sharper, clearer, technically great,
which leads me to your circus build.
The story -
you've allowed yourselves to have some fun.
Your build will inspire people, of that I have absolutely no doubt.
That is to be celebrated.
Excellent. Well done, guys.
(APPLAUSE)
David and Gus,
you guys came in, and then we had the snowdome.
Then we met the fox,
and I think that was the moment everyone went,
oh, these guys, they can do animals.
(CHUCKLING)
But I think the one thing that really drives your build
throughout Lego Masters, what you've honed and sharpened,
is both of you have been able to execute an emotion.
An incredibly difficult thing to do,
and something that takes, traditionally,
years and years of practice.
But we can see that in your finale build.
(UPLIFTING MUSIC)
It's beautiful, well done. Thank you.
(APPLAUSE)
Alrighty. There can be only one team
that takes home the title of Lego Masters,
$100,000,
and hoists the trophy we have in front of us.
250 members of the public have come through.
They were dazzled.
They cast their vote.
Brick Man had the Golden Brick worth 100 votes.
The votes have been tallied. (MUSIC BUILDS)
(TENSE MUSIC)
Alright.
In third place...
It's Gabby and Ryan.
(WARM MUSIC) (APPLAUSE)
Well done, guys. Please enjoy
smoke-filled bubbles! Not cheap, not cheap.
I mean other years, you don't get this.
Coming third means something.
No, I'm happy about this, yeah.
Congrats. How do you feel?
Like seriously, we're just absolutely gobsmacked to be here.
Look, we knew we were up against it in the room with these fellas,
so we're really proud of what we've achieved...
Super-proud. ..and I couldn't have asked
for a better teammate, so thanks Gab.
Thank you.
(APPLAUSE)
I know there's some people in the room that would like me
to read out what else is on the card.
(EXHALES)
Ooh. (CLEARS THROAT) Alright.
The winner of Lego Masters Season Three...
(EXCITING MUSIC) (GROANS) It's horrible!
(CHUCKLES NERVOUSLY)
(MUMBLES TO SELF)
(EXHALES)
David and Gus.
(APPLAUSE AND CHEERING)
Commence elaborate effects!
Cheers.
Oh, man.
(EXHALES)
(LAUGHTER)
Gus.
I feel like you were going to pass out
for a second there. Are you OK?
Yeah, I'm good, I just...
Yeah.
There's just too many emotions to process all at once, so I think
I just needed to shut down for a second.
(LAUGHTER) Do we need to
turn you off and on?
Something like that, yeah.
David.
Does it seem real? How are you feeling?
I mean, to be able to grow this experience with him
has been the best thing that has happened to me
in a long time.
This is unreal. I mean,
thanks, man. I'm loving it. I've loved doing this with you,
with everyone else.
Yeah. Thanks, everyone. Thanks.
Yeah. (CHUCKLING)
Look, it's really interesting -
Lego itself is humble.
It's ubiquitous,
it's lots of different things to different people.
But its humility is exactly how you build.
Exactly.
(EXHALES)
When Lego makes you feel something, it does.
We take it for granted. It makes us happy,
we play with it, we love it, we drive it around, we smash it up.
We do all sorts of crazy stuff with it.
But it means something to all of us.
You've made a build in 28 hours feel.
I feel like I'm in a forest.
I feel like there's danger. I feel anticipation.
I feel concerned. I feel tranquil,
I feel all of these things,
out of a plastic brick?
What?! Are you nuts?
It's beautiful. It really is.
Yep. (APPLAUSE)
The words that Brick Man said to us were pretty remarkable.
It made an emotional - it really touched me somewhere.
He's an incredible builder, he's an incredible designer
and artist himself, so to have him say the things
that he said to us,
it's really something special.
OK, I don't want to take anything away
from our incredible runners up,
because it was so close. Scotty and Owen,
congratulations you guys for being yay-close.
How are you feeling?
I'm stoked. I mean, every build has been another opportunity
to play with Lego, and I think every one of our builds has been us.
It's an honour to be in the room, and it's been an unreal experience,
and it's been a hell of a journey, so I wouldn't change it
for the world.
Well done, boys.
(APPLAUSE)
There really is only one thing left to do.
David and Gus,
there's a hoisting to be done. (CHUCKLES)
Would you like to assemble yourselves beside the trophy?
Do not hoist it until I give you the get-go.
We've still got obviously a special effect up our sleeves.
One hand on the trophy.
So cool. Yeah.
Are you guys ready?
Very much. Yeah.
Are we ready? (CHUCKLING)
David, Gus, you are Lego Masters 2021.
Hoist! (APPLAUSE AND CHEERING)
(TRIUMPHANT MUSIC)
Continue to hoist! Continue to hoist!
(APPLAUSE AND CHEERING CONTINUES)
Thank you for what you've done!
Thank you and the teams! Thank you and the special effects!
Thanks for watching!
Congratulations!
