[Are You the One]

[Episode 20]

Xingzhou has returned.

The timing is perfect.

- Let's take a look. - Aunt.

What did I tell you?

You have been waiting for him every day.

Xingzhou is finally back.

Older Sister, you are truly blessed.

The days of having a house full of descendants are ahead.

Binglan, why are you standing there? Greet your Aunt.

Greetings, Aunt.

What's wrong? When he wasn't here, you missed him.

Now he is in front of you.

Why are you pretending not to see him?

I know that I'm not likeable.

Instead of making him uncomfortable,

I'd rather Aunt criticize me for being rude.

Come on, take a seat.

You are always suffering.

I just explained it to your cousin.

It was a misunderstanding of the past.

We are a family.

How could we become estranged?

I appreciate your kindness,

however, when cousin was away,

Lian family had to face a lot of criticism.

If he comes back, and we show up shamelessly,

won't they criticize us behind our backs?

No wonder you refused to come today and said the engagement was canceled.

You were worried about your aunt's health.

Now that Xingzhou is back,

she said she should avoid arousing suspicion.

What are you talking about? I've decided,

to rewrite a new engagement immediately.

Once you are an honorable member of our family,

I believe no one will dare speak ill of you.

Aunt.

Cousin,

is there anything else?

I only wanted to see if you are doing well.

I'm fine.

If you have seen enough, you can go back.

Xingzhou, it was a misunderstanding of the past.

Don't you care about past affections?

Between my cousin and me, there are alliances, compromises, and mutual benefits.

There is absolutely no affection.

Xingzhou, Binglan turned down many good proposals because of you.

Do you really have to be so ungrateful?

Aunt,

my cousin chose me among many other cousins

because she has her sights set on the position of Princess Consort of Huaiyang.

I allowed it. Her grandmother died, and she mourned for three whole years. I waited.

I had to suppress the rebels of the western tribes. Binglan refused to compromise on the marriage,

so I fulfilled her request.

Why am I ungrateful?

I was not unwilling to marry.

At that time I was really sick.

I wanted to explain to you later and make amends,

but it was too late.

Cousin,

you have always been the one in my heart.

The engagement is canceled.

I won't turn back.

Mother, I have someone I admire.

I will only marry her.

This…

What noble family does he come from?

Why haven't I heard of this?

She is not from a noble family,

but we genuinely care for each other.

I hope Mother will support us.

Cousin, you are so heartless.

Is this because of that mistress?

Older Sister,

your son has had a mistress for a long time.

She was also a prisoner of mountain bandits and an impure woman.

I wanted to tell you for a long time,

but I held back for fear that you would be angry.

May I ask what noble family

would have mistresses without a wife?

Xingzhou, are they telling the truth?

In their words, she sounds like a mistress,

but she is actually my legitimate wife who is with me.

You…

Have you been deceived by this woman?

Mother, she didn't deceive me.

On the contrary, I deceived her.

I can't bear to let her go.

It's my decision after careful consideration.

It won't change.

- She is a wicked woman… - Her name is Liu Miantang!

She is a good woman.

In the future, if I hear anyone insult her again,

no matter who it is, I will not let them off easily.

Mother, I'm leaving.

Xingzhou! Xingzhou!

Are you going to defy your mother because of her?

- Older Sister! Older Sister! - Aunt!

Don't let it affect your health, Older Sister.

I heard you infuriated Mother.

I haven't seen you two fight like this since Father died.

Didn't you say it doesn't matter who you marry, ?

as long as she can assume the role of Princess Consort?

People do change.

I now feel that status doesn't matter as long as I marry her.

Ninth Brother,

you have never been infatuated by romantic love.

At present, there is tension between the Imperial Court and you.

Anything can attract gossip from people with evil intentions.

Don't be foolish.

Isn't it foolish to marry someone I don't love?

- Ninth Brother… - Fifth Brother,

my mind is made up.

I know I can't persuade you.

I only hope you won't regret it.

I'm leaving.

Madam,

what's wrong?

Candy hawthorn.

The street is full of porcelain shops.

It's against the rules to break anything.

- Still, he is selling unlucky tassels. - Candy hawthorn. Money refunded if not sweet.

It's strange.

- Yes. There are always those who are not careful. - Candy hawthorn.

Fresh candy hawthorn! Fresh candy hawthorn!

I have seen you before.

It was in the market.

How much is this dangling hairpin? [Hair Jewelry]

- One guan. - The jade on it is real, right?

Only one guan?

I made a mistake.

It's one tael of gold.

I changed location.

Candy hawthorn!

Money refunded if not sweet.

How much is this dangling hairpin?

One silver guan.

Money refunded if not sweet.

It's just a few velvet flowers.

How can the price be similar to the jade dangling hairpin?

Sir, did you make a mistake?

This type of hairpin is worth at least one silver tael.

Yes. My memory is poor.

I made a mistake. It's one silver tael.

Candy hawthorn!

Two coins each.

The remaining ledgers should be delivered tomorrow.

My eyelid keeps twitching for the last few days.

I'm worried something bad might happen.

- Yes. Rest assured. - Miss.

Miss.

Lord of Huaiyang and the army have returned to Zhenzhou.

Madam Cui should be back too.

Get ready to go to North Street.

Yes.

Sister! Sister!

Sister, someone sent you this.

It must be from an admirer.

"Jasmine blooms with a heavenly fragrance."

"The fragrance fades away."

Marquis?

Miss He, it has been a long time.

I am glad to see you are back safely.

What's wrong? Did you miss me?

You have after all delivered grain for the country.

Naturally, I don't want you to die on the battlefield.

I missed you.

Since your return to Lingquan Town, you seem to be avoiding me.

I have been looking for you.

Do you know

when you left that day,

my heart ached? I was reluctant to part.

I experienced a near-death situation on the battlefield later.

I fell into the water, hurt my head and was captured.

Whenever there is extreme danger,

whenever I face danger,

I would think of you and be secretly happy.

Fortunately, I sent you away,

- and you weren't there... - Marquis Zhao.

What are you trying to say?

Miss He, you're independent, refined and beautiful.

When I see jasmine flowers, I think of you.

Zhao Quan, I know what you're up to.

Sister Liu returned with the army.

Prince of Huaiyang is worried.

He sent you here to stop me from telling her.

That's their family matter.

If you regard Liu Miantang as a good friend, you should sincerely wish her well.

Is there a need to do this thankless task?

Besides, even if you tell her,

what if Liu Miantang forgives His Highness?

Wouldn't you be annoyed for no reason?

We don't lie to each other.

I only care about telling Miantang the truth.

Whether she forgives him, that's their business.

I don't have any guilty conscience.

Miss He, Miss He.

I'll tell you honestly.

Times have changed.

They already have a mutual understanding.

Based on lies?

I'm saying, they rushed to the battlefield

and fell in love with each other.

They used that opportunity to clarify everything.

He's about to propose to her.

Well.

Is Sister Liu aware of this?

I'm worried if you speak carelessly, you'll provoke unwanted hostilities.

Do you know how worried I'm about you?

Are you deceiving me?

Deceive you?

Deceive...?

Why...

Why would I deceive you?

Think about it.

They're a couple who have experienced danger together.

Compared to life, these trivial matters are nothing.

Besides, has Prince of Huaiyang met other women?

If he dares speak about this,

either he is a useless sludge that can't hold up the wall or

he is a cold and ruthless maniac.

How can he govern Zhenzhou?

You've seen him.

What do you think?

With Liu Miantang's temperament, if she has been deceived,

how could she endure it?

Once one has seen the sea, they'll never think of the river. [TN : One doesn't stop at trivial matters]

She can endure it.

She can.

Say that again.

Marquis Zhao gave flowers to Miss He and accompanied her.

They talked for quite a while.

I followed them.

I heard the Marquis telling her that he missed Miss He.

I thought this matter has ended.

Unexpectedly, the situation turned around for the better.

Great! Excellent!

What's so great?

Perhaps the Marquis wanted to buy porcelain.

The Marquis said something about the sea.

"Once one has seen the sea, they'll never think of the river." [TN : One doesn't stop at trivial matters]

And that whatever "On the battlefield..."

He realized his feelings for Zhen'er.

I knew it.

Perhaps that's what he meant.

The Marquis also mentioned a marriage proposal.

What? A marriage proposal?

Miss He said, "Are you deceiving me?"

They also mentioned Prince of Huaiyang.

Prince of Huaiyang is even the matchmaker?

Great.

That's great!

Great. Excellent!

How could I marry Zhao Quan?

Nonsense.

Marquis of Zhennan even said he has found a matchmaker.

How can you be so picky?

But I don't have any feelings for him.

The Marquis is so proactive.

You should have seized it

but at the critical moment, you...

You are useless.

Besides, when he borrowed the convoy,

he also personally agreed to the engagement.

Father, you should know.

When he wanted to borrow the convoy, of course, he would verbally agree to anything.

Father, don't be deluded.

The family of the Marquis is beyond the reach of merchants like us.

Where are you going?

To the porcelain shop.

Someone!

Without my consent, she's not allowed to leave this room!

- Yes. - Yes.

Father.

Open the door.

I won't marry him.

Why did you come back so late?

Did the Marquis ask you to stay for a meal?

A meal? They didn't even let me in.

He said it's inappropriate to discuss marriage after the war.

He said Third Sister is an outstanding woman of great virtue.

He's not worthy of her.

I think he wants to go back on his word.

Unbelievable.

Father, calm down.

I still have a brilliant plan.

A brilliant plan?

It's cold.

(dialogue)

He will definitely lose.

- Can he win? - Definitely not.

If he can't, leave.

I admit defeat.

He lost.

(dialogue)

Wow.

- Yes, brilliant. - Very brilliant.

- This move is too brilliant. - How brilliant.

I can tell who he is from this move.

He lost.

He lost.

I admit defeat.

Brother Guangcai, it has been a long time.

Thank you, everyone. Let's meet again on another day.

Goodbye.

Xingzhou, it has been a long time

but I heard about you in Beizhou.

In a situation of overwhelming odds, you achieved a great victory.

I'm deeply impressed.

As a scholar, I find it hard to compare with you.

Enough, enough. Can't you be less modest?

The candidate who was third in the exam.

If the late Emperor didn't remove your test paper and you missed the Palace Exam,

how could I have ranked among the top three?

Back then, in the mansion, you and my eldest sister started the poetry club.

Every poem you wrote left me utterly defeated.

Years have passed.

How is your eldest sister, Mrs. Guo?

She is doing well.

How about you, Brother Guangcai?

I'm doing well. I'm fine.

It's just that I can no longer write poems.

I've completely changed my interests.

I've taken up Go.

By the way, I was on my way back to the capital to report for duties.

Hearing that you've urgent matter with me, I changed it to Zhenzhou.

What's the urgent matter?

You've been the magistrate in Beizhou for many years.

Have you heard of the Shenwei Escort Agency?

Of course.

It's well established in Beizhou.

It closed down a few years ago but their master is still alive.

What? Are you investigating a case?

Be my matchmaker.

- You? - Yes.

What's so strange? Help me to propose.

Xingzhou, are you making fun of me?

Why would I do that?

You're among the top three candidates and holds an official position in Beizhou.

You're the most suitable.

But I didn't expect there would be such an outstanding woman who can marry you.

I forgot to tell you.

This woman is in Zhenzhou.

After hearing so much from me today, do you understand why I must marry her?

I don't quite understand.

But since you trust me so much, I'll definitely help you.

That's good.

By the way, there's another matter.

This person is Qiulin Xian.

He is a wanted criminal who trades with the tribes. [Qiulin Xian]

He appeared in Beizhou in the past too.

This rascal is really capable.

That's right. He was recommended by the boss.

- Fugui. - Keep a watch on him.

Okay.

Come.

Boss, we were praising the worker you brought here.

He really makes things easier.

That's good.

This is a new batch of goods. Go and check it.

Okay, I'll go immediately.

You, come with me.

Qiulin? He's a Qi person with a tribe surname.

Pay more attention to him.

See if there's anyone called Lin who's an escaped convict.

I remember, in the "Clan Records", the Han surname of Qiulin is Lin in the western tribes.

Nobles changed their surnames to Qiao.

How's the situation in Beizhou?

Don't worry.

My fake name is very misleading.

Even if he's smart, he'll only check the surname Lin.

Would he think that I'm a Qiao?

What about Grandfather?

Your grandfather only knows that you married into the Cui family.

He's unaware of the iron ores mine. He won't be implicated.

But if he finds out about what you did for the past years,

he would definitely break my legs.

Lu Zhong and Lu Yi will be in Zhenzhou soon.

Your plan will come to fruition soon.

Check each and every single person!

What's going on?

Are you two working here?

Yes.

What's in there?

They are newly painted clay bricks.

They must be kept in a cool place without sunlight.

Without sunlight?

If you raise this curtain, we'll waste two days' work.

There are ten worker's plates but only nine people here.

Where's the tenth worker?

The nine of you, retrieve your plates.

- Hurry up. - Alright.

- Hurry up. - Hurry up.

- Move it. - Speed up.

Hurry up.

[Huang Zichun]

There's one more. Whose plate is this?

[Huang Zichun]

It's still hanging here. I thought it was lost.

Madam Liu, I'm late.

What's going on?

Just a routine inspection.

Are you also a worker here?

I thought I was an untalented painter.

Sir, please don't make fun of me.

Let's go.

Go back to work.

- Yes. - Hurry up and work.

Thank you for your help.

To be honest, this is my uncle.

He suffered some false accusations back home,

and came here to avoid them.

Madam Liu, no need to explain.

Madam Liu, everyone clearly knows what kind of person you are.

Moreover, these are grateful people who're repaying your kindness.

I'm leaving.

Here, Marquis.

Not everyone is here yet. Why are you serving the wine?

That's right. When will Father and the uncles arrive?

They will be here soon.

The elders are not here yet.

Let me first raise a toast to the great contributors for transportation of the grains.

- Without your joint efforts... - No need for that.

Today, I'm here to clarify this matter with Mr. He.

When will he arrive?

Perhaps he is delayed at the ancestral hall.

Third Sister, fill the cup and have a relaxing drink with the Marquis.

It's the so-called "Reconcile and don't go to bed in anger".

A married couple doesn't hold grudges overnight.

Second Brother, what nonsense are you saying?

I invited the Marquis here today to explain to the elders,

the promise that he made when he sought our assistance.

I already said it was a misunderstanding.

A misunderstanding.

I'm here today to clarify this with the elders.

Don't say it's a misunderstanding. It's a deceit.

How can you say that?

Your words are too harsh.

I didn't deceive you.

I'm not talking to you. When your father arrives, I'll confront him.

How dare you mention my father?

It was your idea to confine me at home, right?

You were confined?

Why are you sitting here then?

If it was my idea, I would have kept you confined forever.

All problems will be solved once and for all.

See? It's your idea.

You're afraid I would come out and ruin the plans of nobles like you.

You...

Come, Marquis, calm down.

- I will tell her. - I dare you!

You speak grandly with nice words but obtain things by deception. I won't tolerate it.

Who are you talking about?

- Mind your own business! - Mind your own business!

I'm feeling hot from anger.

Marquis.

Marquis,

Father should be here. I'm going down to receive him.

Go ahead.

Have you been drinking?

There's tea on the table. Have some to sober up.

What did you say?

I said there's tea on the table.

Drink a cup to sober up.

How much did you drink?

Come, have some tea.

I don't want it.

I wasn't home for the past few days.

Are you angry?

It was common for you not to come home from playing Go.

You've official duties now. I'm very glad.

How could I be angry?

Anyway, you're different now.

You now have a bright future.

As your wife, I don't want to fall behind.

Miss He, I rarely see you like this.

Marquis,

you speak so harshly.

It's really improper.

I won't speak then.

What are you laughing at?

Why is it so hot in this room?

What are you looking at?

You're really beautiful.

Sweating and feeling hot.

The beautiful woman is drinking.

You should be happy, free from worries

and drink with me.

Nonsense.

Talking in riddles.

Aren't you hot?

Yes.

Miss He.

Miss He.

Miss He, Miss He.

Marquis, stop shouting.

It seems we've been drugged.

Someone!

Come, quickly!

Someone, come quickly!

Help! Help!

Someone, come now!

Help! Someone!

Seems like something happened in there. Should we check?

Don't meddle.

- It's my private room. - Is anyone there?!

I know what's going on.

Let me out!

- Get me another pot of wine. - Someone!

Help!

Dry wood meets a fierce fire. [TN : Uncontrollable passion between a man and woman]

Let me out!

Miantang,

I already said,

I promised you that

when we return to Zhenzhou, I'll live a good life.

That day is approaching.

So, don't be so hard on yourself.

If one day you feel tired and weary,

just let go

and leave everything to me.

I'll give you everything you want.

Dear, can you take me to meet Prince of Huaiyang?

You... Why do you want to meet him?

He takes good care of you.

It's reasonable that I should thank him for his kindness.

He's in seclusion and taking care of the Consort Dowager.

I can't even see him.

How filial of the prince.

After returning to Zhenzhou, he forgot about the soldiers who risked their lives for him.

No, no. He won't.

The prince values the soldiers.

He will set up a memorial altar,

for the soldiers who died in battle,

to save their souls.

Why are you so worried? I'm not talking about you.

Well, I'm not worried.

Dear, sleep in the guest room tonight.

I'm not feeling well.

Why?

I'm having my period.

Since you're unwell, I can't leave.

Get up.

What should we do?

Don't look at me like that.

It's too cruel.

Aren't you a physician? Where are your needles?

Miss He, stay calm. Who brings silver needles when going out?

Don't do any beastly acts.

At this moment, we...

Beastly?

Marquis.

Miss.

Marquis.

Miss.

I'm sorry.

Zhao Quan!

Do you feel better?

Don't go out for these few days.

Zhenzhou is under martial law.

The prince will dispatch more people to patrol.

It's a good time for you to rest.

The war is over. Why is there still a martial law?

That villain might come to Zhenzhou.

Are you sure?

I'm not sure.

Just being cautious.

I see.

I'm feeling much better now.

Zhao Quan.

You're awake.

You...

Where's Zhen'er?

Marquis of Zhennan is also here.

Did they spend the night?

I lit the fire for them.

Scoundrel!

- Father. - Is this your solution?

You're ruining our family's reputation!

Marquis, Marquis.

Don't touch me.

Marquis, please spare me. Please spare me.

It's my fault for not disciplining my son.

My daughter, Zhen'er, has also offended you.

Miss He and I

are pure and innocent.

Once we leave this door,

I will protect Miss He's reputation.

Of course,

if Miss He still feels uneasy,

I will take full responsibility.

I'll marry her with the complete marriage rituals.

Thank you, Marquis.

Mar...

Marquis...

From now on,

if anyone dares to speak ill of you,

I will make sure they don't have shelter

and status in Zhenzhou.
