As he and his jester Styro drive down a country road

they pass a research station, the GREPS building.

Government Research and Experiment Project for Space.

What's this? His Majesty tampering with a road sign?

Strange goings on.

From a pocket of his royal robe

King Plasto removes an egg-shaped container

and flings it in the air.

A perfect duplicate.

Made of my secret formula, FRERP.

The most versatile, most fabulous plastic ever invented.

Your Majesty, what does FRERP mean?

Ha, ha. Fiber reinforced epoxy resin plastic.

Anyone can make ordinary FRERP

but I have added a secret ingredient.

When I start my own country, Styro

everything in it will be made of FRERP.

Your highness.

Ah, the delivery truck loaded with raw plastic.

Drive this in behind the building.

Your dispatcher was right.

He said a road sign would direct us to the GREPS building.

Ah, the raw plastic powder.

We've been waiting for this shipment.

Within the hour, the Superfriends will report

to the Haunted Hills golf course

for a charity event.

A televised exhibition of their golfing skills.

the Superfriends start to leave for the golf course.

This is Mr. Rosecope, chief of the GREPS research station.

That shipment of plastic we're expecting

is now 20 minutes late.

Sir, if it doesn't arrive in an hour

contact us at the Haunted Hills golf course.

Absolutely not, Styro.

King Plasto leaves no clues behind.

[laughing]

Those men will swear they delivered it

right to the GREPS building.

(male narrator) At the real GREPS building

Mr. Mike Rosecope, chief of the research project

impatiently awaits a truckload of raw plastic

which is long overdue.

Meanwhile, at the Haunted Hills golf course

the Superfriends begin their televised exhibition

demonstrating fantastic golf shots.

Wonder Woman calls this her ricochet drive.

Please keep your eye on the ball, folks.

(Batman) Now we have deliberately placed this ball behind a boulder

so Superman can demonstrate for you

his fantastic drill shot.

'Folks, you've heard of a hole in one.'

'You've just witnessed a two in one hole.'

(male narrator) As the Superfriends continue their dazzling display

of golf tricks, they are unaware

that in the nearby woods

two figures peer intently from the undergrowth.

Can you see them, your royal majesticness?

(Plasto) 'Mm, from here, I see Wonder Woman and Aquaman.'

Not the others.

It said in the newspapers that they'd all be here.

[chuckles] We shall wait and make certain.

(Aquaman) And now the Caped Crusaders

will demonstrate their acrobatic shot.

I advise you not to try this yourself

unless you are a professional acrobat.

Ready, Teen Wonder?

that sudden gust of wind is hooking it toward the lake.

(male narrator) While inside, Marvin and Wonder Dog

search for the ball, outside, it suddenly becomes apparent

that the shack is not on a hill

it's on King Plasto's truck.

(Marvin) I don't think the ball's in here, Wonder.

Zonkers, we're flying through the air, Wonder Dog.

We're caught in a tornado.

[Wonder Dog yelps]

Hey, the shack stopped flying, right in the middle of the air.

Styro, did you take the shack down?

Oops. Sorry, your royalness, I forgot it. I'll get it now.

Zonkers, we're on a truck.

What's a shack doing on top of a truck?

[gasps]

Huh? It's gone.

Well, maybe it fell off the other side.

- I know there was a shack here. - Yeah.

(male narrator) As Marvin and Wonder Dog rush back to the golf course

King Plasto drives through the tunnels

of his secret headquarters.

Mm, within minutes this plastic powder

will be converted into FRERP.

[laughs] What are we going to make this time, your kingship?

The things we'll need to hijack another load of raw plastic.

'Styro, I have to furnish an entire kingdom.'

'Buildings, cars, trucks, furniture.'

'Everything. Large and small.'

'I need all the raw plastic I can get my hands on.'

That's the last sack, King Plasto.

Good. Let's go to the arena.

(male narrator) King Plasto drives his van into a vast underground chamber.

The FRERP arena.

We won't need that truck on our next job.

We'll simply compress it.

First, the van.

(male narrator) As King Plasto activates the control console

powerful rams reduce the FRERP van

to the size of a goose egg.

And one compressed truck emerges for storage.

Now, bring me a model tug boat.

Sire, are you going to make this of solid FRERP

or an inflatable FRERP?

Solid, of course.

The inflatable FRERP is only for objects that remain stationary.

Things that are run by machines have to be made of solid FRERP.

Step number one..

Now, place it in the pantograph box.

I wish I could understand how all of this works.

These photoelectric beams activate the molding rods.

(male narrator) While ramrods shape the outside of the tugboat

laser beams sculpt the inside of the craft.

The interior, engine parts, nuts, bolts

cabins, bunks, everything.

Special pantograph lights paint the tugboat in natural colors.

Not a replica, the vessel is a real tugboat

made of fantastic FRERP.

Beautiful. Now, we put it into an egg.

For this next plastic heist

we'll have to make two more things.

A GREPS truck and a warehouse.

Marvin and Wonder Dog finally emerge from the forest.

These missing shipments have created a crisis

For years, the space scientists at GREPS

have been trying to develop a new type of plastic.

Stronger than steel, lighter than aluminum.

And resistant to extreme temperatures.

Why, that could replace many natural resources

which we've been using up too fast.

Yes, and our scientists were making excellent progress too.

Then, unfortunately, about a year ago

someone not only stole the formula

but also the research notes and diagrams.

Oh, wow.

That means you had to start all over again from scratch.

Yes, and now our work is delayed again

by these mysterious disappearances of raw plastic.

We've had to order a large shipment from abroad.

The freighter docks this afternoon.

But these thefts always occur

when the plastic is en route to us.

Our research people claim

they've never received the shipments.

But the drivers have always obtained receipts?

Yes. All signed with the same signature.

Hmm. "Roy La Post."

Roy La Post.

He's not an employee of GREPS?

(Lean) 'We've never heard of Roy La Post.'

As chief of the GREPS project

I've come to ask if you'll investigate it?

(male narrator) But while Mike Rosecope expresses his gratitude

no one notices that Polly Lean is twisting

an ornament on her brooch.

In it, a tiny microphone which can transmit

the conversation to her partner, King Plasto.

He has cleverly planted her in the GREPS organization

to steal secrets and notify him of plastic shipments.

[laughs] Styro, when this is finished

it'll look just like a warehouse on a pier.

[laughing]

zap zap zap

Finished.

Now, to eggulate it.

[beeping]

It's Princess Polly transmitting through her brooch.

(Superman on radio) 'You have proof the plastic was delivered to the station.'

(Batman on radio) 'But you have proof the GREPS station didn't receive it.'

(Aquaman on radio) 'I'm sure we can crack this mystery'

'if we put our minds to it.'

'All we need is a little more time.'

Aquaman needs time to think, eh? Ha-ha-ha.

That's exactly what he won't have

when we send him and Superman on a wild-goose chase.

Here, put this in his bomb bay.

Your elegantness, the second goose is ready for the FRERP.

That's the one that will keep Superman busy.

Put this one in it.

Off you go, my fine-feathered friends of FRERP.

[Plasto laughs] 'That'll keep the Superfriends'

'out of our hair for a while.'

(male narrator) In the sky, the two mechanical FRERP geese separate.

As one heads toward the sea

the other turns toward a nearby city.

As it approaches a busy traffic circle

during the height of the rush hour

a remote control radio signal

opens its bomb bay doors

releasing a FRERP egg.

In the traffic circle

the FRERP egg expands into an enormous flying saucer.

Frightened by what they believe to be an invasion

from outer space, the motorists, unable to proceed

and unable to back up

create a monumental traffic jam.

Back in the Hall of the Justice League

the Superfriends continue questioning their guests.

You say the formula for the new plastic was stolen a year ago?

That's right.

[buzzing]

"Emergency at the city line traffic circle."

(Batman) Bring it in on the SDI screen.

(Robin) Holy space creatures. We've been invaded by Martians.

(Superman) Hmm, how come this saucer didn't show up on our space monitor?

Excuse me, please. There's an emergency I must take care of.

(male narrator) Moments later, the second mechanical goose

drops its FRERP egg into the sea

where it expands into a giant, inflated, killer whale.

As to the truck drivers who deliver the plastic

are they trustworthy?

They've all been carefully screened.

No criminal records.

What's more, a bonded security guard rides with them.

[buzzing]

"Killer whale gone berserk in the Pacific Ocean."

[Wonder Dog barking]

Yes, Wonder, I see it, but I don't understand it.

Zonkers, that whale's gone berserk.

It's scaring the daylights out of all the other fish.

Whales don't attack dolphins.

Pardon the pun, but there's something fishy about this.

I'd better look into it.

I'd like to analyze the signature.

'against all the evildoers in our crime file.'

Somewhere there's a plastic thief

who's been signing Roy La Post on all those receipts.

Maybe that name contains a clue to the criminal's real identity.

First, we'll place these magnetized letters

in their original order.

La Post, hmm, sounds French.

A criminal who steals plastic by mail.

Marvin, that is absolutely, unquestionably incorrect.

and he's challenging us to stop him if we can.

We'll program the crime computer to cough up a card

on every criminal whose first name is Al.

where the flying saucer has caused

that impossible traffic jam.

(Marvin) That's the cliff that opened up.

Let's take a closer look.

Far as I can see, Batman, it's just one piece of solid rock.

activates the complex machine by remote control.

Within seconds it ferrets out the desired information

from its memory bank and transmits it

to the distant Batmobile.

"Plastic is aboard S.S. Dragon.

Due to dock at Pier 40 at--"

Holy deadline. We've got less than a half hour.

(Batman) With light traffic, we can make it.

- How about the kids, Batman? - They know their way home.

(Batman) We're off to the waterfront.

(Wendy) 'Marvin, look.'

"Storage room."

Nobody in there. Let's go in.

Eggs, Wendy.

Hundreds and hundreds of eggs.

So that's Plasto's racket, eh?

He's running an underground chicken farm.

Marvin, these aren't real eggs.

(Marvin) Zonkers, this is like the Astrodome.

(male narrator) At the traffic circle, thanks to Superman

the situation is back to normal.

Meanwhile, far away

Aquaman streaks through the ocean's depths

to investigate the huge angry whale

which is causing panic on the surface

as well as underwater.

Great Neptune, that fishing boat.

First, I'll get this out of the danger zone.

Now, for a little chat with Moby Dick.

(male narrator) Using his ability to communicate telepathically

with sea creatures, Aquaman talks to the whale.

Alright, big fella, what's this all about?

You don't belong in these waters.

Listen, you overgrown sea pachyderm, I'm talking to you.

Hmm, I don't think he's receiving me.

I gotta get him out of here.

By the beard of Poseidon, this isn't a real whale.

It's plastic. Inflated plastic.

Alright, windbag, I know how to

take the breeze out of your sails.

(male narrator) Aquaman sends out a telepathic call for aid to a swordfish.

Okay, musketeer, he's all yours, do your thing.

I'll bet minnows to marlins this has something to do

with those disappearing shipments of plastic.

(male narrator) Meanwhile, at the city waterfront

Batman and Robin are on Pier 40

awaiting the arrival of the freighter Sea Dragon.

(Batman) 'That tug, it's bringing a freighter in'

but it's not docking it here.

Then it's not the Sea Dragon.

But it is the Sea Dragon, Robin.

(Robin) 'Holy goof ups.'

The tug's taking it upriver.

Robin, I think King Plasto has given us the royal hoodwink.

We'll catch up with him in the Batmobile.

(Robin) Waterfront Street is a dead end.

We'll have to detour around on River Road through city traffic.

Batman, I hope we're in time.

(male narrator) At that very moment, on an old abandoned wharf

a strangely-garbed man looks down river.

[chuckling]

Here comes his majesty, dragging the Dragon.

Time for me to go into my act.

(male narrator) As the tug brings the Sea Dragon

alongside the phony GREPS wharf

we discover that the only man aboard the tug

is King Plasto in disguise.

It was a breeze, Styro.

I met the freighter at sea.

[laughs] I told the captain that the harbor master

made a last minute pier change for security reasons.

[both laughing]

What a brilliant con job, your royalness.

Now, I'll just signal the crew to load the truck.

(male narrator) At the captain's command

the freighter's crew unloads the cargo of plastic

into the just-created phony GREPS truck.

(Robin) King Plasto's using every trick in the book, Batman.

I can't figure that new pier, Robin.

I thought I knew this waterfront like the palm of my hand.

(Robin) Watch it, Batman, there's a truck coming.

Holy coincidence. Look.

It's the GREPS truck coming from the waterfront.

[whistles]

Well, at least we know now the plastic's in safe hands.

Except for one thing, Robin.

Did you notice that the driver was wearing

a royal robe and a crown?

- King Plasto. - King Plasto.

(Batman) Hang on.

and Miss Lean after a fruitless interrogation

This spray solvent is fast-acting and very powerful.

A short spritz will dissolve even the largest FRERP object.
