...and those three junior Super Friends..

...Wendy, Marvin and Wonder Dog.

Their mission, to fight injustice

to right that which is wrong

and to serve all mankind.

[instrumental music]

There are few delights to equal a balmy June day

in warm and sunny Florida.

Here, Wendy, Marvin and Wonder Dog

enjoy their summer vacation.

Is there time for a swim

before Batman and Robin get here?

Of course, Marvin. It's so beautiful and warm, go ahead.

(Marvin) 'Race you across. Go.'

Either we ought to install a water softener or this is ice.

This pool is frozen solid. Let's get off.

[whimsical music]

[tense music]

Wonder Dog, I learned in school

that to every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction.

When I say push, push.

[laughs] So much for the ice in the swimming pool.

Now, the air will warm in exactly three minutes.

Doctor, I wish you'd keep the weather warm all the time.

Mr. Wicker, I cannot control the weather. No one can.

But I can control my jet.

[foghorn blaring]

Yes, my jet-stream engine

has a very precise effect on the weather

at least off the Florida coast.

[instrumental music]

(Marvin) 'Wendy, come here. Look at this.

Marvin.

Oh, hi, Batman. Hi, Robin.

'Marvin says the pool is frozen.'

Today's not April first, Marvin.

I'm not fooling. Would you like to see me stand on it?

I would indeed.

[splashing]

[Batman, Robin and Wendy laugh]

It was frozen. Look.

(Robin) 'Holy snowballs. The pool must have been frozen.'

(male narrator) At the Hall of Justice

more information is displayed

on the C.D.Q. screen.

The weather has gone wild.

Hundreds of gigantic icebergs

are drifting south into the Atlantic.

In the north, glaciers a mile long

are breaking off into the sea.

The sudden climatic change in the Atlantic

has caused the seaweed to grow at a fantastic rate

creating a tangle.

Whales are fleeing.

[intense music]

World Weather Headquarters. Colonel Wilcox. Yes, sir.

The weather trouble seems to be centered in the Atlantic Ocean.

All available help is being sent.

[telephone rings]

Uh-huh. For you, Batman.

Yes, colonel, there's been a strange shift

in water temperature here.

The pool froze over on a warm day.

If you can find out why your pool froze

'you'll probably discover the cause of all our emergencies.'

We'll do our best, Colonel Wilcox.

Robin, we have some investigating to do.

Can we come along, Batman?

(Batman) I don't see why not. I anticipate no danger.

'Yes, you and Marvin are certainly welcome.'

[barks]

Okay, you come too, Wonder Dog.

- Where to, Batman? - The U.S. government building.

The Weather Service and the Hydrographic Research room.

Are we going to meet the other Super Friends?

(Batman) They have their own assignments.

[instrumental music]

(male narrator) Flying in her transparent plane

Wonder Woman searches the Atlantic

for the ocean liner which has been caught

in a giant whirlpool.

Dense hurricane clouds appear ahead

and Wonder Woman speeds toward them.

Winds of over 100 miles an hour try to drive her off-course

but the transparent plane is too powerful.

Suddenly, Wonder Woman is in the eye of the storm.

The hurricane winds, traveling in a circle

at tremendous speed

are creating a massive circular ocean current.

If only the winds can be stopped

the water current will stop spinning the ship.

Fifteen thousand feet into the sky.

Twenty-five thousand.

Thirty-five thousand.

Forty thousand.

Now Wonder Woman dives her transparent plane

faster and faster, 4000 miles an hour.

Seven thousand miles an hour.

Ten thousand miles an hour.

Now the transparent plane

begins to create a massive suction

like that behind a speeding auto.

The hurricane's twisting energy dissipates

and the ship is saved.

Mission accomplished

Wonder Woman flies on

to meet Superman.

There they face another problem:

A battleship stranded amidst icebergs

icebergs with up to 90 percent of their jagged mass

lurking beneath the water

threatening to crush the vessel's steel hull.

I suggest the train hitch

in order to widen the passageway.

I agree, Superman.

[instrumental music]

(male narrator) As Superman and Wonder Woman

release the trapped battleship

our other Super Friends arrive

at the United States government building

for information they hope

will help combat the weather problems.

Robin and Wendy go immediately to the Weather Service room

to check world weather charts

while Batman and Marvin

pay a call on the Hydrographic office.

What does "hydrographic" mean?

It's from two Greek words, Marvin.

"Hydro," meaning water and "graphos," which means writing.

I get it. This is all information about the ocean.

(Batman) 'Weather, good and bad'

generally begins over the ocean, Marvin.

Since the weather trouble is over the Atlantic

that's where we'll start looking for answers.

Here's Florida, and here's the Gulf Stream

which goes north along the Florida Coast.

And here's about where the beach house is located.

[sniffing]

(Marvin) 'Hmm, he must have buried a bone there.'

(Batman) 'Do you know whether the Gulf Stream'

'is a warm or cold current?'

Warm, because it's just come up from the equator.

(Batman) Right, and what effect does it have on Florida's climate?

- Helps keep it warm, I think. - Correct.

Now, what do you deduce

from the fact that the swimming pool froze?

[barks]

(Batman) Let Marvin guess, Wonder Dog.

Um, gee, give me a hint.

Golf? Golf?

Gulf. Gulf, that's it.

The Gulf Stream. It should have kept the coast warm. It didn't.

Something's gone wrong with the Gulf Stream.

Good thinking, Marvin. Now let's get more detailed charts.

Doctor, this is Mr. Malvit.

Doctor? Hello, hello?

We also need a chart of the Gulf of Mexico.

Doctor.

Yes, Mr. Malvit, what is it?

(Robin) I think we're being followed.

A small, very thin man with glasses.

Our Florida map disappeared.

The clerk is a small, very thin man with glasses.

You two wait in the Batmobile.

Robin and I will look for the missing map.

There's the one who was watching us.

And there's the map.

Pardon me, sir, but I want the Florida map.

I gave it to Mr. Wicker.

(Batman) ''We'll see about that.

I didn't see any little man following us.

Well, of course. We men have keener powers of observation.

I practice observation a half hour a day

and I'm getting very observant.

[barks]

Did you say something, Wonder Dog?

[barking]

(Wendy) 'Huh. Why the umbrella?'

(Marvin) 'Rubber rain boots?'

[thunder rumbles]

How did he know it was going to rain?

Highly suspicious.

The sky was perfectly clear a second ago.

(Marvin) I think we ought to go follow him.

[suspenseful music]

He begs your pardon.

- Why are you following me? - Us?

I seem to be speaking to all of you.

- Well, we were very surprised. - By whom?

- 'You.' - Why?

You seem to know exactly when it's going to rain

and when it's going to stop.

What's so surprising about that?

Weather forecasters do it all the time.

Except it rains when they say it won't

and it doesn't when they say it will.

At least, they can't make instant predictions like you do.

It's just a matter of having more sensitive corns.

I have a right to my privacy.

If you people follow me again, I'll call the police.

[laughing]

What are you so happy about? We're gonna lose him.

(Wendy) 'And I think he's very suspicious.'

[whimpers]

What's on your mind, Wonder Dog?

[grunting]

(Wendy) 'Marvin, Wonder Dog is a dog.'

(Marvin) 'He usually acts as though he were a person, you mean.'

Exactly.

He said that he'd call the police

if any of us people followed him.

Go, Wonder Dog.

[Wonder Dog laughs]

[panting]

[instrumental music]

[whines]

[gasps]

[tense music]

[wind howling]

What's going on, Wonder Dog?

[Wonder Dog grunting]

He bought a newspaper.

[grunting]

You want us to buy a newspaper?

[grunting]

- You're him? - You are he.

[grunting]

He made the wind blow with some kind of gadget.

[grunting]

[instrumental music]

[intense music]

- Where are Wendy and Marvin? - We'll come back for them.

[music continues]

(Wendy) If only people wouldn't litter.

[music continues]

I think he's the one who's causing all the weather trouble.

He can change the weather.

We'll trap them at the end of the pier.

Batman, he'll never be able to stop in time.

Neither will we, unless..

[brakes screech]

[music continues]

[splashes]

They must have something to do

with the weather trouble, but what?

The ocean's so big, we'll never find them now.

This is a job for all the Super Friends.

And especially Aquaman.

Is he coming to help?

As soon as he's finished

with his special assignment

in the mid-Atlantic.

[instrumental music]

splash

(male narrator) Once beneath the surface

Aquaman descends to depths

no ordinary man can survive.

He sends out his telepathic call

asking his friends of the deep to come to him.

But can they provide the information he needs?

[instrumental music]

Globi, the pilot whale

responds to Aquaman's call for information

about the tangled seaweed.

Aquaman tells his friends that the drifting seaweed

is a danger to ships

and asks whether Globi knows

the exact direction and speed of the drift.

Globi is able to supply the information.

The seaweed is moving due north at five miles per hour.

Aquaman thanks his friend and is about to go

when the pilot whale asks if Aquaman

can take time to help some of Globi's relatives

who have been caught in the seaweed.

Aquaman learns that a whole dolphin family

is entangled in the seaweed.

Although even a whale cannot penetrate this ocean jungle

Aquaman does know a way in.

[music continues]

Once at the surface, the dolphins tell Aquaman

how a violent storm during the previous night

had entangled the calf dolphin in weeds.

His mother had gone into the seaweed to help

but was also soon trapped.

The father had attempted to rescue his family

but he also became hopelessly tangled

in the hurricane-whipped weeds.

Aquaman now tells the dolphins to follow him to safety.

[dolphins clicking]

Aquaman warns the dolphin family

to stay clear of the seaweed

until the weather trouble is cleared up.

As the dolphins thank him

Aquaman heads back to the Hall of Justice League

to make his report and then

to join the other Super Friends.

Now, don't we have to have a plan of action?

(Batman) Good thinking, Marvin.

'That's what we're trying to think of.'

(Marvin) Well, why don't we just go out there and look for them?

Marvin, do you know how big the Atlantic Ocean is?

Um, very big.

Aquaman could tell you to the inch

but it's almost 32 million square miles.

Marvin, three-quarters of the Earth's surface

is covered by water.

But we've just got to find

those short and tall human toothpicks.

Aquaman is on his way here.

The Atlantic is his specialty.

But we still need a plan of action.

Marvin, what do the Super Friends always tell you?

[barks]

Oh, yeah. Think.

[instrumental music]

Hey, I've got it.

'For the longest while I couldn't really make'

good buttermilk biscuits, and I never knew why

until I tried to remember each step I took in baking them.

Do you know what I discovered?

'I was always following a certain pattern'

when I added the buttermilk.

I'd gotten into a pattern of mixing very slowly

instead of doing it quickly.

Gee, the biscuits tasted swell to me.

Today, I mixed them quickly.

The answer to good biscuits

was in seeing the pattern I'd been using.

Good thinking, Wendy. We have to look for a pattern.

But we already know what she was doing wrong with the biscuits.

Marvin, Wendy means to find a pattern in the weather troubles.

Which may lead us to the cause of the troubles.

Which will lead us to the troublemakers.

The three human toothpicks?

That tall one, I think he's behind it all.

[Wonder Dog barking]

(Marvin) 'It's Aquaman.'

[music continues]

Ah, buttermilk biscuits. How nice.

Mm, delicious, Wendy.

Say, this looks like a planning council.

It is, Aquaman, and there is a job for each of us.

gone with one of the Super Friends.

Because, Marvin, each does what he can do best.

They get the information and we enter it on the chart.

'I'm in the low-pressure area now.'

(Aquaman) 'Following water temperatures'

'in degrees Fahrenheit.'

Seventy-five. Seventy-five.

Seventy-six, 76, 77.

(Batman) 'Hello, Wendy. Hello, Wendy.'

Yes, Batman, go ahead.

We're in the city and getting

some very strange temperature readings.

Especially for Florida in June.

ding ding ding

[beeps]

Wendy, Marvin, another crazy, mixed-up temperature reading.

Ninety degrees at 600 feet altitude

when it's almost freezing on the street below.

[instrumental music]

Marvin. Holy Hades, the heat's 120 here.

Wonder Woman, we're ready for more information

on wind velocity.

Stand by, Wendy.

Over the coast, the wind at 10,000 feet

is 70 miles per hour from the east.

Over the city at 5000 feet

the wind is 40 miles per hour from the east.

(Wendy) Thank you, Wonder Woman. We've completed our weather map.

Please return to ground base. Out.

(male narrator) As Wendy and Marvin chart the atmospheric pressure

water and air temperatures and wind velocities

a pattern begins to emerge.

Within one particular area, the readings are very unusual.

This is where the weather trouble is coming from, friends.

I agree. It's the pattern we were hoping to find.

I was in the middle of that area when I saw

that peculiar, large cloud overhead.

And that's where the water was very warm.

Constant strong air movement from here to here.

(Robin) And the temperatures were freezing below

and hot higher up.

Well, even if it is a pattern

what does it mean?

(Aquaman) It means the Gulf Stream is shifting.

But there's been no earthquake or volcanic eruption

to explain that shift.

Which means the three men we've been chasing are responsible.

And they're operating from somewhere in here.

We'll have to search the whole area.

(Wilcox) Super Friends, emergency, emergency.

(Wonder Woman) Go ahead, Colonel Wilcox.

'We've got a real problem at 30 degrees north'

and 82 degrees west.

We've just learned that flood waters caused by weather trouble

'have swept away the island bridge.'

'Hundreds of animals marooned on the island are in danger.'

'Immediate help needed.'

Roger. I'll attend to it, colonel.

I'll rejoin you as soon as I can.

Alright, meanwhile, we'll begin our search of the area

to find those men.

[instrumental music]

We're going to need more nuclear fuel.

Mr. Wicker and I know where to get it.

Before you go, I want you to give all the machinery

a thorough inspection.

[instrumental music]

[barking]

I'm heading for a waterspout located dead center

of the low-pressure area.

Please inform Aquaman.

(Batman) Roger, will inform Aquaman

and meet you at the waterspout.

[music continues]

(Batman) What do you make of it?

This is just where I saw

those peculiar overhead clouds.

There shouldn't be a waterspout here.

Why not?

You have to have tornado conditions

for a waterspout.

Yes, and the air is perfectly still here.

Let me take a look around down there.

[instrumental music]

(male narrator) Aquaman soon comes upon

a strange and powerful stream of bubbles

rising from an unknown source.

He follows it downward.

At the ocean floor

he looks beyond a massive boulder

that partially deflects the jet-like stream.

There, a huge nozzle bends upward through the water

to a mysteriously shaped container.

And from there, finally, to the bottom of a ship.

[dramatic music]

- Thank goodness you're safe. - Did you find anything?

I found what we're looking for.

Someone's put a jet nozzle near the bottom

to divert the Gulf Stream.

It connects with a boat on the surface.

Where's the boat?

About 25 miles

just over the horizon.

That's where we'll find those three men.

(Batman) We'll see.

Say, how can shifting the Gulf Stream

cause this change in weather?

Till now, it was the Gulf Stream

which warmed America's southeast coast

especially Florida.

If you shift it away, what was warm gets cold

and what was cold gets warm.

If those three men are doing this, why?

That's what we've got to find out.

(Wilcox) To the Super Friends. To the Super Friends.

Distress calls are coming from all over the Atlantic Seaboard.

Immediate help is needed at the Panama Canal.

'An oil tanker has run up on one of the locks.'

'At 48 degrees north, 67 degrees west'

'a fishing boat has been driven on the rocks'

'and is now being pounded' by hurricane winds.

Help must reach it within the hour, or all will be lost.

Can you help?

I'll take the Panama Canal.

Colonel Wilcox, help is on the way

to the Panama Canal and to the fishing boat.

'Batman, we must find out'

what's causing the weather trouble and stop it.

You'd better stay under cover till we find out if it's safe.

[Batboat engine starts]

The jet engine that Aquaman saw!

Right in the Gulf Stream.

'Then they are the ones who are'

(Marvin) 'And it's all being done right from here.'

Our finding out that you're shifting the Gulf Stream.

In that case, I'll move my whole operation

so they can't find us.

But you'll be taking us with you.

As soon as I've shifted the Gulf Stream

We'll be able to have agriculture

and animal husbandry.

'We'll be warm.'

But we'll be cold.

That's not our concern.

That's a fine attitude. It's very selfish.

And if you had, would you have helped us?

- We would have tried to. - Ha!

Our Super Friends are very powerful.

That's why I'm moving my jet-stream engine.

They've been looking for me to stop me, not help me.

[instrumental music]

(Batman) It's after hours, but they got in. Somehow.

We can call the F.B.I. They'll get us in.

No. I want to know what they're after this time.

- More weather charts? - Let's find out.

before you can get loose.

Now back to Wendy and Marvin on the tugboat.

[instrumental music]

It's gone. The tugboat is gone.

This is the area it was in, I'm sure.

What happened to the tug?

I've been searching for it

ever since I got here.

The jet-stream engine is gone from where it was.

We've got to find Wendy and Marvin.

I'll try further out to sea.

My friends below will help search.

I'll call Wonder Woman to help, too.

Go ahead, Batman.

But hurting Florida will hurt Glacia.

Because we all live on the same Earth.

We learned that from our Super Friends long ago.

What hurts one part of the Earth eventually hurts all countries.

(male narrator) Elsewhere, as the Super Friends continue to search the ocean

for the missing tug

Aquaman pays a visit beneath the sea.

One of the bottle-nose dolphin family reports

that although he has not yet located the tugboat

all his relatives are trying to help find Wendy and Marvin.

The pilot whale, the wrongly named killer whale

actually a gentle animal

the sperm whale, a visiting California gray whale

and even a baleen whale.

Suddenly, an excited dolphin brings news.

He has sighted the jet-stream engine.

Course, 247 degrees.

Distance, 103 nautical miles.

Aquaman thanks him and speeds back to the Batboat.

(Aquaman) Found it. That way.

[instrumental music]

Batman, have you located Wendy and Marvin?

Yes, and the jet-stream engine, Wonder Woman. Follow me.

But wouldn't it be better if we all cooperated

in solving Glacia's problems?

- No. - You're a clever scientist.

We have good scientists.

Why couldn't we all get together to solve your problem?

Yeah, it's everybody's problem.

(Batman) 'Correct.'

'How did you find me?'

Oh, we have friends who help.

Sir, your jet steam has been

causing a great deal of weather trouble.

You must turn it off.

Not till the new Gulf Stream is running under its own power.

Then we'll turn it off.

No, you won't.

It's on irreversible.

(Thinkwik) 'Now the jet nozzle cannot be shut off.'

'Not even by me.'

- Unforgivable. - That's terrible.

- Criminal. - It's not right at all.

If we can't turn it off, I'll plug the nozzle.

And if it can't be plugged

I'll disconnect the nozzle from the engine.

Maybe we can find a way to short-circuit the wires.

[upbeat music]

The nuclear power plant which drives the jet stream.

All I have to do is disconnect it.

Here's where it attaches to the jet nozzle.

[grunts]

Your Super Friends can neither plug the jet nozzle

nor disconnect it.

It's impossible.

Impossible to short-circuit the power plant?

Never say impossible.

[music continues]

I told you, it can't be shut off.
