I'm 19 years, old and I'm

My mom, my sister, and I
are inseparable.

We are like three peas
in the same pod.

They're my best friends.

I don't know what
I would do without them.

My sister is not only
my designer for my album art,

she's also
my songwriting partner.

My mom got me my first guitar
when I was eight years old.

She was diagnosed with cancer,

and she got it for me
as a distraction.

And I've played every day since.

A lot of the songs I would write
would be about being scared

and, you know,
nervous for my mom.

And as I got better, so did she.

And she thinks I sang
her back to health.

I don't think I did,

but music was really always
my way to cope with my emotions.

My first regular gig,
I was in seventh grade,

and I would play happy hours
in a rowdy pizza shop for $27,

a fountain drink, and a slice.

And then I had the pleasure
of opening for Ann Wilson

of Heart, which is crazy.

And my senior year
in high school,

I had 80 gigs all
throughout the city.

I'm currently a student at NYU,

and I study recorded music
at the Clive Davis Institute.

I made dean's ist.
I had an amazing year.

But in the first semester
my mom's cancer returned,

and it was really hard
being away from home.

Right as she was getting better,

my dad was diagnosed
with metastatic melanoma.

The doctor said he had
anywhere from a couple weeks

to a couple months left,
and it's been heartbreaking.

Dad has something he wanted
to say before you go on stage.

I'm 25 years old,
and this is the biggest thing

that I have ever done
in my life.

I just can't, like,
I don't even know,

It's crazy the amount of talent

these people have and
what they all could offer me.

Like, it's insane.
For me,

I feel like these four coaches
represent a bright future.

I'm from Oxford, Pennsylvania.

It was a very small town.

I grew up in
a 3-bedroom trailer

with my four little sisters,

my mom and my aunt, and the
only boy was our cat named Jake.

Growing up, money was tight.

I just remember
there would be times

where we didn't have electricity
or we didn't have heat.

I was a single mother,
and I worked two and three jobs,

one of the hardest things
I've ever done.

I will tell everybody
that my children saved my life,

that they're my world,

and everything I do
is still for them.

My mom sacrificed
honestly a lot.

I couldn't imagine
having five kids.

I'm 25 now, and she had me
when she was 17.

So, like, it's like [Sighs]
I couldn't imagine that.

And, Mom, like, you did great.

You did freaking great.

I love you so much.

At the end of the day, you
don't need stuff to be happy.

It's about love and
about what you make of it.

Music has always been huge
to me since a young age.

I would sing
in a glee club, theater,

and then in high school,
I was working at Walmart.

It was my first job,
when I was 16,

and one day
on the Walmart radio,

I heard
a cappella challenge contest.

I said, "Oh, run it back.
That sounds right up my alley."

I was selected with 11 other
people from all over the States,

and we became Walmart's
first-ever a cappella group,

called SparkAppella.

We made music videos,
and we made a Christmas album.

And then I was on a commercial.

That was my first taste
of what it feels like

to work in the industry,
and I felt rich.

Mind you, I'm poor,
but I felt so rich.

And that experience
just made me want more.

I feel "The Voice" is
so perfect for somebody like me

because it doesn't matter
who you are, what you come from,

you be yourself,
and you can make it.

I graduated high school early,

my full time job

my biological dad died
in a car accident.

my biological mom died

is Kourtney White.

I am 37 years old,
and I am from McKinney, Texas.

I first realized you
could sing at the age of 6 or 7.

She wanted to put on
a concert for the family,

and at that time,
she really couldn't sing,

so you had to hold
our laughter in.

Shortly thereafter, she started
begging me to sing in church.

So I went to the pastor,
and I'm like, "Pastor,

can I sing a solo in church?"

He was like, "Yeah, baby,
come on up here."

So I opened up my mouth and
it was like, heaven, you know,

because I had a voice.

So I started doing little shows,

I started recording, and I wrote
a song called "Walk Away".

And posted it
on my social media.

And I woke up the next morning
with over a million views.

2022, I went to the hospital
for a simple stomach ache

and walked out
with a rare brain condition.

So basically, my brain believed
that there is a tumor there,

but there's no tumor.

When I went in the doctor,
he started to look into my eyes,

and he pulled up a chair,
and he said, "Sweetheart,

we have to give you
brain surgery.

We have to save your life."

I mean, words cannot even
describe how I felt that day,

to think that
it would alter her way of life,

that not only she
wouldn't be able to sing again

but never talk again,
walk again, it was devastating.

After my brain surgery,
I couldn't feed myself.

I had to learn
how to walk again.

Doctors said it would take
me a year to recover.

I recovered in a month.
I made the decision to live.

I made the decision to fight,
and because of that,

I'm about to grace
the biggest stage of my life.

If it weren't for my family
having my back, picking me up,

I wouldn't be here,
so this is for them.
