Prince Turkey if you were still ambassador here
what would you be
trying to get the British government to do
about Israel Gaza
I mentioned that in my talk to Chatham House
I said that the
the efforts of the government now are welcome
but they're a bit shy
I think
they can do more in stoppage of military support
and other such considerations to the Israelis
but they can also
come forward and recognize the Palestinian state
as you know
there's been a parliamentary resolution on that
many years ago
on recognizing Palestine as state
which has not been implemented by governments in the UK
and do it now I hope so
I think they should do that
do you think
do you think peace is possible
while Netanyahu is in Israel
and Hamas is in Gaza not under
needs to be got rid of
not under the present circumstances
if there were more pressure put on
on them um
they might come forward as you know
miss anything Yahoo
has had a record of of
of coming forward and not coming forward
the wide river agreement in America on Harbourne
if remember
he came through on that
and accepted American pressure at that time
I think if there is more pressure on him
like recognizing a Palestinian state
and stopping weapons going to him etc
he might come around but when his supporters
like the United States and European countries
don't do that why should he do that
Saudi Arabia is no friend of Hamas
and you have condemned Hamas
um but how
how do you deal with Hamas
how do you get Hamas out of the picture
two two propositions
I think if there is going to be
a ceasefire agreement
based on United Nations Security Council resolution
it has to be United Nations Security Council resolution
in succession to the previous
Security Council resolutions
because it's important to keep them in mind
um
there should be a stipulation in that Security Council
resolution
that those who do not accept a two state solution
for Palestine and Israel
are not allowed to be participants in any peace
in the future
and that definitely will exclude Netanyahu
because he's already declared
his opposition to a Palestinian state
and any Hamas leader
who does not recognize the two state solution
as the present leadership at Hamas does not
so that's one way of doing it
um the other way
of course uh
is that the the
I hope the the people in mother's day
if they see that there is hope for
an end to the killing that they will turn on Hamas and
and ask them for a reckoning
about the thousands of people who've been killed
and the destruction of their homes
and their hospitals their schools
etc and throw them out
um because that's basically what Hamas brought
to the people of US
a lot of people wonder
why Saudi Arabia is not taking a more muscular
position over this you know
in 1973 there was an oil embargo against western states
who supported Israel
why does Saudi Arabia not do more like that
well you know
imposing an oil embargo on
on whoever these days is not going to work
um there's a lot of oil in the world
and the producers of oil since 1973
have expanded considerably
The United States now hardly imports any
any oil because it has its own resources
Europe of course
though dependent on imports and so on
yet the producers of oil go beyond Saudi Arabia
and the Arab world and so on
so that as a tool
is not going to work nowadays
but when you mean robust what do you mean by robust
do you mean the
Saudi Arabia should declare war on Israel
or should declare war on the United States and the UK
for supporting Israel that not only would be foolish
but it will expand the conflict rather than limiting it
we want to see an end to the fighting
and that's where we put all our
political and economic resources
to convince countries
to support an end to the fighting
and you know
the delegation from the Arab and Muslim countries
that goes around the world
to convince the governments
to support such a proposition
is LED by Saudi Arabia so
how much more robust do you want us to be
in terms of providing support
to the Palestinian people
we have never hesitated in doing that
there is a public fund
that has been instituted by the government for
so it is to contribute to the people of Gaza
and the supplies of humanitarian
medical and other aid going to Gaza
either through the trucks that go through Saudi Arabia
but also through ships that go to Egyptian ports
to provide support for for Gaza continue
what do you think Saudi Arabia's role would be
in the building of a new Palestinian state
well I think
any support we can give to the Palestinian people
we will not hesitate to do
I cannot specify any any particular um
department or or action that the Kingdom can take
but there will be loss of Saudi money
not just money but technical
know how political support
whatever you want Yanny
but you know
reconstructing Halza should be a world responsibility
and there should be a United Nations fund to do that
and I think we should also impose on the Israelis
to pay for some of the reconstruction in Russia
because of the
they are the ones who destroyed that infrastructure
do you still think normalization
of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel
is realistic well
under the present circumstances
with Mr Netanyahu and his government
saying that
they are not going to recognize the Palestinian state
the Kingdom is not going to recognize Israel
