[Fighter of the Destiny]

[Episode 3]

Then continue, what other problems do these wings have?

There should be more power and speed when the wings are in motion.

And these feathers don't suit gliding.

Humans are heavy, so an an ascension mechanism would be more suitable.

The feathers should be short and wide, with space between them.

That way, you'll be able to utilize the airflow to ascend and save effort.

So it was like that?

You're just as smart as me!

Let me tell you. My name is Tang Thirty-Six. What's your name?

- Chen Changsheng.\N- Changsheng?

That's quite a simple name.

My master gave me this name hoping I would live a long life. (Chang sheng = "long life")

Right, why are you called Tang Thrity-Six?

Unless in the Tang family, you're 36th child?

If it's really like that,

your mom is really impressive.

I'm called Tang Thirty-Six, not that I'm the 36th child in my family.

It's because I entered the Qingyun Proclamation for the first time last year, and I was ranked 36th.

Qingyun Proclamation?

The ranking list that the Celestial Elder put in place for the talented youths of the Beast Clan and Humans?

If you're on the list, you must be very skilled.

Well, of course, I can't compete with that phoenix child.

So I changed my name to Tang Thirty-Six,

to remind myself that it's a disgrace and I must work harder.

Step back.

I'm fine.

Silence.

Two hungred years since its inclusion in the six elite Ivy schools,

students of Tiandao Academy have ranked first in the Grand Examination 24 times.

Today, we are enrolling new students.

I hope you can all bring things to a new level

and bring our school prestige in the future Grand Examinations.

What are you doing?

I have to change my rank before I enter the Tiandao Academy.

Ambitious! You're ambitious, young man!

Brother Tang, I admire your enthusiasm.

You're not bad yourself, what with knowing how to improve my Roc wings.

I rarely admire my same-aged peers, so you should feel honored.

And you should express that somehow.

Express it?

Treat me to a meal! I'm always up for some refreshing food.

Young Master Tianhai!

Young Master Tianhai.

How could I have made you come all this way.

I came to see the headmaster.

But the proceedings for this exam will have to follow the rules.

Of course! With your innate talent, you'll easily pass the exam.

This way, this way. This way please.

He doesn't need to line up?

He's the Divine Empress' nephew.

Not only doesn't he need to line up, the six elite schools will all plead with him to enroll at their academies.

The exam starts!

That is a Sensing Rock.

It holds the ability to measure the true power from within.

The brighter it shines, the more power you have.

The Bible of Everything stated

that nature has a special rock, when in contact with humans it can measure true power.

You're not bad.

You've even read such an obscure book?

Have you completed Purification?

I've never cultivated before.

You've never cultivated, but you're trying to test into Tiandao Academy?

Could it be that you haven't even found your destined star?!

It's true I've yet to find it.

You have to be able to solidify your spirit, and then you can find your destined star and complete Purification.

After Purification, you can complete Meditation.

Everyone who comes for the exam has already found their destined star.

But you've never even cultivated?

This is a bit hard.

Wait a second and let me think of a solution.

Next one.

No, give me another chance.

I've already completed Purification! Give me another chance! I can do it!

Let me go first, and observe how I do it.

Perhaps you can pass based on your good luck.

Okay, you're very thoughtful.

Meditation Stage...

A genius who's already completed Meditation!

Thirty sixth on the Qingyun Proclamation! Your reputation is well deserved!

Immediately accepted.

Teacher, calm down. I have a friend that came with me to take the exam.

How about leave a spot for him?

Come on, stop wasting time.

No reaction?

- Hey, how come it's like that?\N - That's right.

- He's never cultivated.\N- Yeah.

You've never cultivated before?

- I've never cultivated.\N- Then why aren't you leaving?

Sir, according to the Tiandao Academy regulations, in the 17th chapter, 4th paragraph, 8th line remarks,

even if one is to fail the stone test, as long as you pass the written test, you can be accepted as well.

Eleven years ago, the Qing Dynasty Division set such a precedent.

There's a rule like that?

Forget it.

If you haven't completed Purification, forcing yourself to take the exam will damage your spirit and you'll become a fool.

Are you sure you want to take it?

I'm certain.

- Hey. \N - Huh?

I think you're not bad, I've decided to let you be my brother.

What does it mean to be your brother?

You can be by my side, I'll protect you.

Whatever you want to eat or drink, spicy or not, I can get for you.

I still have a lot of things to do, I don't have time to accompany you.

Also, I don't eat spicy.

I can't even bribe you?

People like you with a sense of pride is what I love best.

But speaking of, why are you here to take the exam if you've never cultivated before?

This year I have to take the Grand Examination, with the highest marks, too.

I don't even dare to call myself first.

Don't you have too much pride in yourself?

This has nothing to do with pride.

It's just that I don't have any other choice.

No other choice? Why?

It's time!

You're Chen Changsheng?

Yes.

Before the incense burns out, find the only word that has not been duplicated.

Countdown begins!

Timing and Subtitles brought to you by the Subbers of the Destiny @ Viki

Wow!

What kind of person are you? Your eyes are so great.

Did you use some kind of trick?

You're in the Demon Clan, right?! Let me have a look.

I'm fainting just looking at you. You're a prodigy!

I'm nothing special. You're the amazing one.

You can make the Roc wings all by yourself!

You're wrong. The amazing one isn't me but the Tang family.

The formation of the Zhou Empire City, the best weapon and ordnance and

the armour of 38 generals of the mainland are all made by the Tang family.

The design and manufacture, even the Baidi Empire surrounded by the Red River were all made by the Tang ancestors.

Indeed, the greatness of the Wenshui Tang family,

Many skilled craftsmen. It's really amazing.

But no matter how much I try, I can't even compare to the Tang's ancestors.

Why are you competing against others?

You are you. Just like the wings, unique.

Of course.

Hey, after we become brothers, I'll create two sets of wings,

so that we can travel Shendu together.

You like to fly that much?

You can fly thousands of miles away.

Although I don't have gifted blood, I can still fly around for them to see.

Hey, hey! Come look! The results are out!

It's out! Look!

Hey, where's Cheng Changsheng? Why is your name missing?

I passed the test, why is my name not there?

That's right.

I'm not the one who gets to decide if you pass or not.

Don't leave yet. I'll help you ask them why.

In the next few days, the six Ivy academies are all recruiting. I cannot waste the opportunity.

I'll come visit you at Tiandao Academy another day.

Goodbye.

Hey.

He obviously passed the test, why was he not accepted?

Master, I suggest that you keep a distance from him.

He offended the upper class.

I thought that the Tiandao Academy was the most prestigious, but still dares to bend the rules for their own benefit.

I'm telling you, he is a prodigy like me!

He can still join other academies.

The difference is that the one he offended is someone even we can't take lightly.

Who is that powerful?

Sir, no need to guess; just keep a distance from him.

Chen Changsheng.

Changsheng, wait a second.

- You're really going to keep taking the tests?\N- Of course.

Then, what if you still don't succeed?

What happens if I succeed?

Hey, I'll invite you to dinner tonight!

Don't forget.

Wish you good luck.

Zhaixing Academy. Galaxy's light to pick the stars!

This name is auspicious!

It's here then.

So this is Zhaixing Academy

You and the demon will be on the field for as long as the incense is burning. You will only be allowed to use bare hands.

Whoever lasts until the end, then he will be admitted.

The Zhaixing Academy is the military place for the Zhou empire.

All prospective students will need to be on the battlefield, facing the demons head on, for life until death.

- Who wants to go first? \N - I'll go!

Even the Bear Tribe has come to join the Zhaixing Academy.

The Zhou Empire will accept anyone.

Hit him! Hit him! Hit him!

Idiot, everyone knows their weakness is at the knees!

There's no use of hitting the stomach.

The time is up, Xuan Yuanpo passes!

Just then, why didn't you attack its weak spot?

On the battlefield, demons will never expose their weak spot.

So the only thing I can do is try my best and fight til the end.

You really are an amazing fighter.

These are pills to help you recuperate and restore your energy.

Thank you.

- What's your name? \N - Chen Changsheng.

Chen Changsheng?

- Then in a while are you— \N - All right, don't talk.

Work on healing your injuries.

Be careful!

Hit it! Attack!

Why is he playing that Xun (wind instrument)?

Be careful! It's coming!

Good!

You guys don't know. This song has hypnosis effects;

most effective on brainless demon giants.

Hey! The demons got out! Hurry up and catch them!

Don't yell. You can see that someone let them out on purpose.

On purpose? Impossible!

Aren't the Zhaixing Academy known to be the most fair of the empire? What in the world are they doing?

Can't you tell by their looks?

Time is up!

Good!

Great!

Then, did I pass?

Pass! Of course, you passed!

Congrats.

Good job, Chen Changsheng!

I passed!

Look.

- I passed. \N - Why isn't my name there?

Zhaixing Academy can't accept you.

But I clearly passed.

I'm very sorry but even if you were to pass the test ten thousand times, you would still not be qualified.

Why?

As a loyal soldier to my army, I can not violate regulations.

Even though I can't tell you why, but I have to remind you

for safety reasons, it's better if you leave Shendu City.

He clearly passed the exam and he was clearly the strongest one among us.

Why aren't you accepting him?

People say that the Zhaixing Academy is the most impartial.

You guys doing this, there must be a problem!

Soldiers are to obey all orders.

You are now a student of Zhaixing Academy,

I advise you to stay away from him and have less contact with him.

Chen Changsheng!

Changsheng!

I don't really know how to comfort people but don't be upset.

You're so strong. It must be them who got it wrong.

It's nothing. I can still go to other academies.

Oh, right. Congratulations for being accepted into Zhaixing Academy.

Then, where are you going to go? Continue to take the exams?

No, I have an appointment.

An appointment?

Yes, an interesting appointment!

Hello, customer. Inside please. Please.

Hey, over here.

Not bad, a man of his words!

Boss! Two more pairs of wings.

Extremely spicy please!

- Please wait a moment.\N- Okay!

Xiao'er!

Two pairs of Peng wings!

Did you not make it again?

Then, any plans?

Apply to other academies.

Do you have to?

I have to.

It doesn't matter which academy you go to, just don't go to Guojiao Academy.

What's wrong with Guojiao Academy?

You don't know?

That place has been deserted for a long time.

Unless someone can solve the Holiness' sword puzzle, or else it will never be reopened again.

Think about it. It's the Holiness!

The sword formation made by an immortal elite! \NWho has that ability?

Even Xu Yourong can't do it!

Xu Yourong?

What kind of person is she?

She is the well-known saint from the south, invincible phoenix of the General Mansion.

She doesn't need to speak, doesn't need to ridicule anyone, doesn't need to despise anyone,

doesn't need to condescend.

As long as she exists, just standing there alone makes many people depressed and sick.

One of them includes me.

She's that amazing?

Her cultivation has been pretty since she was young. There's nothing she cannot overcome.

She's even so beautiful.

Even though I've never seen her, she puts all prodigies in despair.

Don't you really hate these kinds of people?

Why would I think like that?

Shouldn't I be in admiration?

Which side are you on?

I... of course... on your side.

Even if you stand on her side, it's no use; not everyone can stand on her side.

Only Qiushan Jun has the right.

Qiushan had reached the Heart-Entering Realm before he was 20 years old.

He is at the top of the Golden Chart, even more amazing than the Qingyun Chart.

They are like the dragon and the phoenix, perfectly complementing each other.

There's no way for me to stand by her side?

Let's not talk about this.

I wish for your success in applying to other academies.

- Cheers. \N - Cheers.

I think this restaurant is pretty good.

- Yes, food is good. \N- Let's come here more often.

[Guojiao Academy]

[Guojiao Academy]

Finally someone brave enough to challenge Guojiao Academy's sword riddle.

Mo Yu, have you had the feeling of the sword yet?

This is the Holiness sense of sword.

This place has been deserted for a long time.

People from Shendu City call this place the graveyard.

Except ghosts and spirits, no living person have arrived there.

May I ask who you are...

Xu WeiXin.

Formerly, Mr. General.

Have you been well in Shendu City these few days?

I think you should know better than I, how I have been.

Of course, I know.

And what I want, you should know, too.

If you can promise me, everything I have taken from you I can return.

Even if you want to be an officer in the imperial court,

it's not that difficult!

What if I don't agree?

Young man, in the summer in Shendu, it is easy to die.

When floods arrive, the water level of the Shendu River must rise.

No matter floaters or ashes, all are easily washed away.

So, Mr General, one must drink the water of the Shendu River to grow up?

You're not afraid of dying?

I'm afraid of dying,

so that's why I came to Shendu City.

Because there's hope here to keep me alive.

If you don't call off the engagement, only despair will be waiting for you.

Whether it is despair or hope,

to me,

they are all exciting experiences I cannot miss.

To have lived in this world is not easy,

One step forward is death, one step back is life.

Why are you so fixated on this one step?

The boundary between life and death is only a step away.

I would not be afraid as long as there is hope in my heart.

I think it's better for us to decide our fate.

Also, my name is Chen Changsheng.

Do you not want to live?

For the past 19 years, no one has dared to pass through here.

Do you think you can come out alive?

Chen Changsheng.

Why do you care for such a name?

At this time next year, no one will remember you.

Chen Changsheng! You actually came to Guojiao Academy?

This sword riddle is not something you can play with!

This is actually amazing!

It's deserved to be arranged by His Holiness, one of the Five Saints.

Uncle Jin, look.

Miss.

Don't move forward! Slowly, move backward.

Hurry.

Miss, don't go. These swords are not something to take lightly.

If you move a step, you'll get injured.

Just look here.

These have been here for 19 years! No one has ever made it out alive!

It's too dangerous! Hurry and come back!

But this sword riddle is too extraordinary.

I beg you, Changsheng. Hurry and come back.

All right.

Why isn't he going? It's not fun at all.

If the Empress and His Holiness are disturbed, I'm afraid it would be much worse.

Hey, Uncle Jin.

I'll... go try it.

Please, just give me a break.

By the way, let me ask you something. How do I get into this Guojiao Academy?

Of the whole Shendu, you really can't get into Guojiao.

Can you please not be so stubborn?

In Shendu, Guojiao Academy is forbidden.

Forbidden?

At the time when the Demon Clan invaded, Guojiao's principal, Shang Xingzhou, disappeared without a trace.

Everyone in the academy objected to the Empress taking the throne so they were forced to shut down.

At the end, to prevent the academy from being destroyed, they created this sword riddle,

which is extremely dangerous.

At the time it was rumoured that anyone who could solve the riddle, the academy will reopen again.

However, who dares to solve it?

First, they couldn't break it.

Second, if you break it then it means you offended the Empress.

This sword riddle is really amazing;

filled with so many meanings of life.

Not worthy of His Holiness announcing it.

Meanings of life?

This sword riddle tells us that if you take a wrong step, you will be slaughtered into pieces.

You still have the mood to joke around at this point?

So what if I don't joke around? Can you break it?

Of course...

it's worth considering.

Casually...

I won't even do something this dangerous!

But as a member of the Guojiao Academy, I will still be eligible to participate in the Grand Examination. \N Right?

Why are you still thinking about this Grand Examination?

You're just inviting death right now, do you understand?

It is not some kind of joke to infuriate the Empress.

As your friend, I will guarantee you a spot at another academy. How does that sound?

No way! I have to get into one of the six Ivy academies.

Why are you so stubborn?

You can still take the Grand Exam another year!

I can't.

I can't either!

Let me tell you. I normally am not fond of many people,

and out of those people whom I am friends with are even less.

I am not letting you die. You leave with me now!

It's the Guojiao Academy.

What a coincidence that he came.

Your Majesty.

It seems like you already know someone tried to enter the Guojiao Academy.

The Guojiao Academy follows the tradition of the Zhou empire.

At that time, the late Emperor established the succession. \NThat cannot be broken.

This... is maybe God's will.

How amazing your sword riddle is, the whole city knows.

Do you think they'll come back alive?

Even if they came back alive,

without solving the riddle, Guojiao Academy cannot reopen.

There was a promise at the beginning. If someone can break through the formation, the academy can re-open.

However, Your Majesty should not take it seriously.

Do you think that Your Majesty cannot tolerate the academy?

Your Majesty suspected my senior Shang Xingzhou of being connected with the Demon Clan.

If that can be proven that my senior is not the Black Gown, then the Guojiao Academy was falsely accused.

If Shang Xingzhou was not the Black Gown,

then why did he disappear that day? And no trace of him has been found yet to this day.

That's enough! Wait till the person solves the sword formation. Then we'll talk.

If there's no power, then it's a shame to the late Emperor.

Your Holiness, do you still remember the late Emperor?

I cannot forget.

The heritage he left behind luckily is protected by Your Majesty.

The broad situation of Human against the Demon Clan, no matter what, is always of the upmost priority.

Only those of us who were with the late Emperor would remember.

Going against the Demon Clan is a matter of life and death!

In the past few years, fortunately because of your strong support,

the late Emperor would be grateful to you.

We are always moving forward together with Your Majesty.

The six Ivy academies will always defend your throne.

SInce Your Majesty inherited the throne, the six Ivy academies have been the most loyal guards.

Thank you for your kind words.

Let's wait and see what happens.

It's so late, you're not going home?

No need to thank me.

I came here to especially keep an eye on you.

To prevent you from attempting to tackle the sword formation again.

I still have to thank you so I'm not that lonely.

Wow! I really guessed correctly.

You're a brat who isn't afraid of dying.

Don't worry, I thought about it the whole night.

I think I can break through the sword formation.

Don't force yourself.

If you really can't pass it, then you have to retreat.

Be careful!

If he can come out of the sword formation alive, cut him into pieces!

Thinking of re-opening the Guojiao Academy!\NLooking to die!

But why did you come here for?

Why I came here?

I'm plan to kill him first then kill you!

I know who you are.

You are the young master of the Wenshui-Tang family, aren't you?

The armour used by the Tianhai family are all made by my family.

So what?

You not only fool around with the Beast Clan,

now you also come to create trouble at the Guojiao Academy.

Since you dared to come here today, you should know whom you have angered!

I know! Angered the ghosts of the people who died here!

This cemetery should have been banned a long time ago!

With you coming here today has made you the enemy of the Tianhai family; the enemy of the Empress!

Crazy.

Hey.

Who were you talking about?

Changsheng!

Careful. It's the Sword Spirit left by the High Priest! Be careful!

No way! Go slower a bit!

No, slower.

That's great!

Changsheng! You broke through the sword formation!

Does that mean the Guaojiao Academy will re-open now?

Are you saying the High Priest will agree to let me study here?

It's difficult to say. The High Priest was an apprentice of the former head of the Guojiao Academy. No one dares bring up this matter.

You should go find the Pope right now.

He is strictest but also the fairest!

As long as he thinks you have potential, you still have some hope to enter the Grand Examination directly.

Pope?

This section is challenging! You can refer to another article.

Master, can you specify?

Chapter 8 of the Art of Deduction, written by the High Priest.

Thank you, Teacher.

I am Chen Changsheng, I seek audience with the Pope.

See the Pope?

You have a strong tone. Don't think about it until you make it to the Qingyun Chart.

I have to meet him.

Please, is there any chance for you to do this favor!

- There is. \N - There really is?

This is to immediately leave this place.

If I see you again, I will order someone to beat you 20 times with the ruler, and revoke your eligibility for any examination.
