From out of the space comes a runaway planet.

Hurtling between the earth and the moon,

unleashing cosmic destruction.

Man's civilization is cast in ruin.

A strange new world rises from the old.

A world of savagery, super-science, and sorcery.

But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice.

With his companions Ookla the Mok

and Princess Ariel.

He pits his strength, his courage

and his fabulous Sun Sword against the forces of evil.

[grams]

Narrator: We now return with "Thundarr the Barbarian."

[instrumental music]

Thundarr: Smell the air, fresh and salty.

We are nearing the sea.

Ariel: Good. I could use a cool swim after this ride.

[Zapping]

Ariel. Ookla.

The sounds of battle.

Goodbye cool swim.

That way.

Ride.

[music continues]

[Zapping]

Surrender Deena.

Rejoin our Amazon army.

Queen Stryia will be merciful.

She is a wizard. She knows no mercy.

As you wish rebel. Destroy them.

[Zapping]

There are too many of them.

The Wizard Queen's army has won.

Thundarr: Not while Thundarr wields his Sunsword.

Lords of light. A woman.

Not a woman. An Amazon.

You took me by surprise, woman. It won't happen again.

No man can repel our lasers with a sword.

I am more than a man.

I am Thundarr.

It's not nice to gang up on your playmates.

[Zapping]

Amazon warriors retreat. Retreat.

Sharks. They'll be eaten alive.

That explains their blue skin.

It is too dangerous to talk here.

I was once Queen of the Amazons

until the Wizardess Stryia conquered my underwater domain.

Now Stryia is building an army of women

to strike on land as well as at sea.

[laughs]

Ookla.

The male wizards also scoffed.

But she is as evil and powerful as any of them.

And she intends to prove it.

Only my rebels stand between Stryia and her goal.

If she is so powerful,

why hasn't she wiped you out already?

Deona: Because she does not know the location of our hideout.

[instrumental music]

If the Shark legions find this secret base,

Stryia will use her sorcery to destroy us.

Of course, if we had a sorceress on our side,

someone powerful enough to counter Stryia's magic...

- It would be my pleasure. - Our pleasure.

Whatever danger Ariel faces,

Ookla and I will protect her.

[growling]

[laughing] Thanks, fellas.

These special masks will allow you

to breathe and speak underwater.

[growling]

Be brave Ookla.

Overcome your fear of water for Ariel's sake.

[growling]

To Stryia's fortress. Attack.

[instrumental music]

[growling]

Ariel: Are we nearing Stryia's fortress?

Deona: It lies beyond the forest. It is not far.

Patrol to stronghold. Patrol to stronghold.

Rebel strike force approaching. Shall we take action?

Patience.

I will dispatch my shark legions at once.

When they arrive, you may join the fun.

[Stryia laughs]

[instrumental music]

Stryia's legions. It's an ambush.

Ookla, prepare for battle.

Ariel, must not be harmed.

[Zapping]

Stryia: Attack. Let no one escape alive.

You girls don't know it yet, but you're playing with fire.

The rebels have a sorceress of their own.

But she's no match for Stryia.

Release the Kraken.

Let's see if their pretty little Ariel

can stop my sea demon.

[roaring]

[Zapping]

You have but tasted Thundarr's fury.

Soon, Queen Stryia will feast on it.

[Zapping]

- A monster squid. - It's the Kraken.

Ariel. Can you stop it?

Ariel!

- She's unconscious. - Take her to safety.

I will deal with this demon from the depths.

[Zapping]

[growling]

Thundarr: Ookla!

Deona, retreat. You must save Ariel.

Deona: Back to the hideout. Hurry.

Hold monster. Our fight is not yet finished.

[growling]

[Zapping]

Just a little farther, monster.

That will hold him. Now we must get back to Ariel.

Are you well enough to travel, old friend?

[growling]

Good. Then travel with me to your doom.

[Zapping]

[instrumental music]

[clanking]

Where are they?

Where are the rebels and their sorceress hiding?

Never Wizardess.

You'll pry no secrets from Thundarr.

Look closely, Thundarr.

Could this face hide a kindly heart?

Then speak, barbarian.

Or know what evil lurks there.

I will not betray the rebels, or Ariel.

Very well. Then perish in my jaws of steel.

[intense music]

Tell me where the rebels are hiding.

Never. With Ariel's magic they can still defeat you.

Queen Stryia, I bring news.

Stryia: Thundarr, I no longer need to know

the rebels' location.

My shark legions have located a secret weapon

in the nearby military ruins.

Once I claim it, I can destroy everything for miles around,

including the rebel base.

No. Ookla. Kick.

[growling]

They're trying to escape.

Stop them.

Guards. Guards.

Ookla. This way.

Move with me.

[growling]

[crashing]

We must be free.

[growling]

Thundarr: This way.

The sunsword.

Ookla, hurry.

[growling]

Hurry, we must warn Ariel and the rebels

of Stryia's secret weapon.

[instrumental music]

[thuds]

Demon dogs. A dead end.

[growling]

[crashing]

We'll return, Stryia. Depend on it.

[instrumental music]

Inside old friend.

We have much to discuss with Ariel and Deona.

Thundarr, Ookla, you're alive.

It is good that you are well.

[growling]

Easy, Ookla.

But, we face greater danger still.

Stryia has located a deadly secret weapon.

We must claim it before she does.

[instrumental music]

From what Stryia said, these must be the ruins

where the weapon is hidden.

Stay close as we search, Ariel. I will keep you from harm.

I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself.

Thundarr has taken the bait. It's time to attack.

[Zapping]

- It's a trap. - Spread out.

They must not capture Ariel.

[Zapping]

[growling]

[intense music]

[shimmering]

I've got my haul. Wonder if the fish are biting for Thundarr.

Now, Amazon. Talk.

Where is the secret weapon?

You'll never get anywhere with that approach, Thundarr.

Allow me.

Deona: The crust of barnacles preserved an air pocket in here,

and protected Stryia's secret weapon.

It could use a paint job.

But otherwise, it still looks dangerous.

[growling]

That my friend is a rocket from 2000 years ago.

It was capable of carrying explosives.

Make haste, we must move this to Deona's hideout

before Stryia's forces return.

[instrumental music]

- Lords of light. - A giant spider.

[grams]

Go find a giant fly to pick on.

so you could lead me to the rebels' hideout.

A ring of fire is no match for my tornado.

You'll perish in that stony embrace.

Keep out of this Thundarr. It's Ariel's fight now.

[grunts]

must protect...

...Ariel. Come!

My sorcery is the only hope against Stryia.

[Stryia screams]

What happened?

The effects of Stryia's magic

were banished with Stryia herself.

Banished where?

Far enough away that she won't trouble us again.

Stryia's tyranny has ended.

The Amazons are united once more.

[clears throat]

[chuckles] It's okay. You fellas helped too.

A giant squid...

the steel jaws, the lasers...

a monster spider...
