Narrator: Thundarr the Barbarian!

The year, 1994.

From out of the space, comes a runaway planet,

hurtling between the Earth and the moon,

unleashing cosmic destruction.

[wave crashing]

Man's civilization is cast in ruin.

[explosions]

Two thousand years later, Earth is reborn.

A strange new world rises from the old.

A world of savagery, super-science

and sorcery.

But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice.

With his companions, Ookla the Mok

and Princess Ariel,

he pits his strength, his courage,

and his fabulous Sunsword against the forces of evil.

[roaring]

He is Thundarr the Barbarian!

Narrator: We now return with "Thundarr the Barbarian!"

[instrumental music]

[hissing]

[horses galloping]

Demon dogs! Days of riding and still, no human outposts.

Ariel: What did you expect? These are the badlands.

There's no shelter, nothing to eat.

[growling]

Hold your tongue, Ariel.

You'll remind Ookla his own belly is empty.

[screeching]

[intense music]

There! The sound comes from above!

[screeching]

Bats, the size of Ookla's equort!

[growling]

Let the humans beware!

Death comes on wings

this night!

[instrumental music]

Then there are humans nearby.

And in danger! Ride!

Onward! Our prey awaits!

[bats screeching]

Lords of light!

Ariel: That's an ancient ocean liner, Thundarr.

It carried people across the great waters.

And look! There are humans on-board!

[indistinct chatter]

[screeching]

[Zapping]

[shouting]

Thundarr!

[shimmering]

[instrumental music]

Let go! I will not surrender my catch!

Humans are not for hunting!

What manner of man are you?

Free!

[screeching]

Why should Thundarr have all the fun?

Let's move!

[instrumental music]

[whinnies]

[indistinct chatter]

[shimmering]

Back to your belfry, boys.

[Zapping]

[music continues]

Thanks for the souvenir.

[screeching]

Away, leather-wings! Hunt no more!

Back to the abyss, my brethren!

We've captured all the humans we need!

[dramatic music]

[cheering]

I am Garth.

Leader of these people.

I offer you their thanks and mine.

Never have we seen a human fight so fiercely.

Not fiercely enough! Some of your people were captured.

But most were not.

And that is cause for celebration.

Come!

[instrumental music]

[growling]

Another swallow, Ookla?

As I was saying,

the raiders have plagued my people for generations.

When the moon's light is brightest,

they come to claim their prey.

We've tried to follow them,

but no search party has ever returned.

Hm... their energy rods were fashioned by sorcery, Thundarr.

Not bad workmanship, either.

No sorcerer's toy will stop Thundarr!

We will find these Raiders of the Abyss,

and crush their evil!

[shimmering]

[instrumental music]

Onward! To the Abyss!

[gas hissing]

[instrumental music]

Silence!

All is in readiness!

Let the ritual begin!

Oh, vapors of life!

Arise and make us new!

[instrumental music]

Behold, the vapors contain the strength

that once belonged to the humans.

Nourish us!

Come, vapors of life!

It is done! We are again at full strength!

- It is done. It is done. - It is done. It is done.

- It is done. - It is done.

[instrumental music]

There. The Abyss. Our enemy waits below.

[splashing]

[water crashing]

Ookla! Come on! Don't be afraid of the water.

[growling]

[growling]

[instrumental music]

[growling]

[muffled growling]

Quiet. The guards will hear.

[grunting]

[instrumental music]

There goes one big bubble of trouble.

[music continues]

This way.

[chanting] Hail Morag! Hail Morag! Hail Morag!

I cannot live on cheers.

Bring my dinner, humans.

[instrumental music]

[shouting]

Guards!

[growling]

Stick around, fellas. The fun's just beginning.

[shimmering]

[shouting]

[gasps]

[Zapping]

Man 1: To the ritual chamber. Her strength will soon be ours.

[music continues]

Surrender, Morag,

or taste Thundarr's fury!

Whom do you want more, barbarian?

Me or the woman?

Thundarr: Ariel, gone!

[growling]

I'll be back!

Ariel: Help!

Ariel!

[instrumental music]

Thundarr: Demon dogs! The vapors steal her strength!

[shouting]

[growling]

[music continues]

Make haste, Thundarr!

Descend to your doom!

I think not.

Ookla, come! We must get Ariel to safety!

[growling]

[music continues]

Man 2: Thundarr, this way! Hurry!

You can escape through our quarters!

Man 2: Gentlemen, this is where we live.

Thundarr, you can put me down now.

- You are well? - Yes.

- Saved me just in time. - We were not so lucky.

Is there no way we can help you?

One way, the Raiders stole their secret from a conquered wizard

who took refuge here ages ago.

Find that wizard, and you may find our salvation.

We will. Hurry, we ride!

[instrumental music]

Ariel: I think we found our man.

And it looks like visitors are unwelcome.

Thundarr: Then I'll batter down his gates!

- And force the secret from-- - No, Thundarr.

Perhaps I should try reasoning with him first.

[shimmering]

I know why you invaded my sanctum, Princess Ariel.

And I will not help the humans.

[Zapping]

Playing for keeps, huh?

[screaming]

Let me know when you've had enough.

Enough! I yield!

Good. Now, where's the cure for the humans?

[instrumental music]

Were you in danger? Did the wizard put up a fight?

That nice old man. Don't be silly, Thundarr.

No wizard was ever nice.

And no barbarian silly.

To the Abyss!

[music continues]

Humans, we have returned

with the cure!

Why do you cower?

You have nothing to fear from us.

Morag: It's not you they fear, barbarian.

[laughs]

Raiders, attack!

[Zapping]

No escape for you now, Thundarr!

Get the humans to safety.

Ookla! To battle!

[growling]

[shouting]

[growling]

[bat screeching]

[screaming]

That's it. Keep moving. Single file.

That's it, move along. To the ritual chamber.

Surrender, Morag!

I would perish first!

[intense music]

[shouting]

Now, Morag, let us finish our battle!

[Zapping]

[laughs] The duel is ended!

No! It cannot be!

[intense music]

I could easily finish you, Morag.

But this punishment is more fitting.

Farewell, Morag!

That's all of them. But where's Thundarr?

Here! Follow the humans!

We're leaving this place!

Morag sealed off the other exit.

The Raiders are trapped in the Abyss.

Where they belong.

[instrumental music]

Thundarr: When all have been cured,

we shall lead them home.

[growling]

Thundarr: Now you can lead your people to another home,

where they can live in freedom,

and right-side up.

A toast, then.

To freedom!
