Father.

Xiaotang, you don't have to go in.

With Commandant Ji leading the North and South Zhenfu Divisions,

the three thieves will surely be captured easily.

Deputy Wang only said a few words to the emperor,

and made me, Ji, take the blame for your North Zhenfu Division.

I only wanted to relieve the emperor's worries.

Besides, you have the imperial golden badge.

In this entire court,

even among the royals and nobles,

who would dare to act rashly before you?

Deputy Wang is the only sensible person in the North Zhenfu Division.

It’s Ji Ying.

Is everyone here?

Yes, everyone is here.

Good, bring the roster.

Yes, sir.

Old Shi, how did you end up in such a bad situation?

Even got imprisoned by the Jinyiwei?

Don’t mention it.

It was all because of that wretched fox.

Captain Shi, Shopkeeper Xue, please come in.

Please, enjoy your meal.

Boss, why is it so quiet here today?

Ah, it's all because of the three thieves causing trouble.

Fighting over who is the Thief Saint.

Blew up the entire street.

It’s a real disaster, a disaster.

What do you mean the entire street?

What happened?

What exactly happened last night?

Last night, the Inferno Monk planted explosives in the city,

killing the Iron Buddha and Jinyiwei officers,

and implicating the entire street’s residents.

With the Iron Buddha dead,

the Jinyiwei will surely conduct a citywide search.

Our good days are over.

Oh, by the way,

I heard a big client came to Wanguilou today.

Recently, I got a piece of goods,

it’s a bit fishy.

Damn, that Inferno Monk is truly despicable.

Calm down, calm down.

Why are you so anxious here?

We only do small business.

No need to act like a hero.

I’m just a street patrolman.

Besides, the top master of the Imperial City has been blown up.

It’s not my turn.

That’s right.

We do our business, quietly make a fortune.

Don’t you dream of early retirement,

with three wives and many children and grandchildren?

You rascal, you know me well.

Hey, what about the other two thieves?

White-Clad Duan Yun has always been aloof,

probably won’t get involved in this mess.

Let’s not mention it.

Hua Daochang, that little fox, is cunning,

but cowardly.

After stealing something, he’ll surely run away.

That’s right, haha.

Who's there?

Hey, I’m talking to you.

Sir, I didn’t do anything.

Move along, move along, don’t interfere with my business.

Yes, yes, I’ll leave right away.

Wait a minute.

These little beggars have no manners nowadays.

Wait.

Here, take this and buy some food.

Go on.

Be careful.

The money you just gave him seems to be mine.

I didn’t notice it was your money.

Then this meal’s cost,

will go on your tab for now.

Easy, easy.

If you break it, you’ll have to pay for the doctor.

A mere patrol captain,

dares to look down on a Taoist master.

Take this and buy some food.

Brother, brother.

Have you got heatstroke?

Commandant Ji, the most urgent matter is still to capture the three thieves and find the princess.

Checking the roster is not urgent right now.

That’s right, Deputy Wang must have a more comprehensive plan.

I will obey the Commandant’s orders.

So many people kneeling on the ground,

and none of them?

Reporting to the General Commandant,

I have a plan.

This is General Banner Lord Xu Chan.

Son of Duke Ding.

Stand up and speak.

Thank you, Commandant.

This morning, I caught a patrol captain colluding with the three thieves.

If we interrogate him with torture,

we will surely find out the whereabouts of the three thieves.

Hmm, not bad.

I will handle it immediately.

General Banner Lord, that person is gone.

What? He escaped.

That street patrolman has already left.

Yuan Xiaotang, you traitor.

How dare you collude with the three thieves.

Who would believe that I, Yuan Xiaotang, would collude with the three thieves?

The person you caught this morning is my informant.

I was about to learn the exact location of the three thieves.

But you grabbed him without distinguishing right from wrong.

You startled the snake, ruining everything.

I haven’t even settled the score with you yet.

You, Commandant Ji.

Hua Daochang, one of the three thieves, was indeed hiding in the Yi Hong Courtyard.

Please let me lead a team,

and arrest everyone in the brothel for questioning.

We will surely find out her whereabouts.

Xu Chan.

There are hundreds of people in Yi Hong Courtyard.

If you arrest all of them and interrogate them one by one,

by the time you find out her whereabouts,

the three thieves would have long escaped.

Xu Chan, why do you always have problems with the prostitutes?

Xiaotang, you...

What did you say?

Yuan Xiaotang.

How dare you speak to General Banner Lord Xu Chan like that?

Who do you think you are?

Yeah, beat him.

Xu Chan, Lord Yuan’s bones are not yet cold.

And you are already starting an internal conflict?

Xu Chan, call off your men.

Yuan Xiaotang, you came out of your mother’s womb without a backbone.

If you have guts, don’t hide behind women.

Xiaotang, don’t let him provoke you.

Now that your dead father isn’t here to back you up,

why don’t you come and hit me?

General Banner Lord, are you alright?

Xiaotang, is your wound okay?

Why did you hit him?

It hurts so much!

You attacked when I wasn't prepared. You’re despicable!

You’ll pay for this!

You guys...

Stop, all of you, stop!

How can you act like this in front of the Commandant?

Hahaha!

Look at you, the thieves aren’t even here yet,

and you’re already fighting amongst yourselves.

The North Zhenfu Division failed to protect the palace.

Everyone will be penalized with a year’s salary reduction.

The South Zhenfu Division will now guard the Imperial City.

The shift starts immediately.

Hmph.

As for the two of you...

Since this happened in the South Zhenfu Division,

how should it be handled?

Reporting to you, sir,

fighting in court is highly disrespectful.

The misdemeanor punishment is 20 lashes and a temporary suspension.

The heavy punishment,

is dismissal and permanent disqualification.

Yuan Xiao was obstinate and self-willed,

he failed to discipline his subordinates, leading to this outcome.

He met this end because of his own actions.

What?

Commandant Ji, this...

Yuan Xiaotang,

do you think I should impose the heavy or light punishment?

It was wrong of me to hit him. I accept any punishment.

Xiaotang, stop talking.

But please take back what you said about Commandant Yuan.

Yuan Xiao deserved his fate; he brought it upon himself.

Ji Ying, say that again.

Don’t move.

Ji Ying, say that again.

Ji Ying, Ji Ying!

Forty lashes.

Yes, sir.

Commandant Ji, Yuan Xiaotang is injured, can you...

Anyone who pleads for him will share his punishment.

One more word, and I’ll add an extra lash.

Commandant Ji...

Commandant Yuan has just passed away.

Xiaotang is naturally upset, which is why he acted out.

Please consider your past relationship with the Yuan family and forgive him this time.

Spare him this time.

Besides, we need people right now.

We can’t afford to anger everyone.

Anger everyone?

Hmph, come here.

Yes.

Strip Yuan Xiaotang of his Flying Fish robe.

Take his Xiu Chun knife.

Expel him from the North Zhenfu Division.

Yes, sir.

Wait.

No need to do it yourself.

Xiaotang.

General Banner Lord Fang,

I have a task for you. Come with me.

Yes, Commandant Ji.

Xiaotang.
