because I have opened up on tour for Earth, Wind & Fire.

It's such an incredible experience

to work with these legends.

The way your staging should look,

It makes me have to step up my game

and reach that because, I mean...

talking about Earth, Wind & Fire.

I got connected to Earth, Wind & Fire

through their foster care organization that I work with,

helping foster youth transition into adulthood.

I was placed in the foster care system

at the age of 7 years old.

My mother had me at 17.

My father was in and out of my life because of prison.

My mother did the best that she absolutely could,

but she came up to my school and she disciplined me openly.

I was immediately taken away from her.

I remember being placed in the back of a police car

and asking the police officer,

"Will I ever see my mom and my family again?"

and him telling me, "I don't know, kid."

I was placed in five different foster homes.

I experienced severe abuse from other kids.

The only thing I had during that time was God and music.

I would take these blankets --

one of them had, like, a hole in it,

and I put it over my head and made it a robe

so I could be a choir director,

singing to the millions of people that were in my room.

[ Chuckles ]

And I like to say that that dream eventually came true.

You got this. I love you.

After foster care, I moved back in with my mother.

We reconnected, and we started our relationship over.

And my father brought me a drum set.

I would just play that drum set for hours.

And that's what I did with all of the instruments

that I played.

When I'm not on tour,

I go home to my wife and my two little girls.

And there's Amara.

We go out to movies. We go out for ice cream.

They have a completely different life.

We having fun doing what we do. Family outing.

They know that I'm going to protect them.

And I think that that's the most beautiful thing ever.

My uncle Josh did five years in the Marine Corps,

But he's the most loving, kind-hearted person.

He's like a superhero to me.

My uncle and aunt treat me like I'm one of their sons.

I started singing two years ago.

'Cause I was grounded, so I picked up the guitar. He was grounded,

And he just taught himself how to play guitar.

I'm a full-time maintenance foreman.

My job is very dangerous,

a lot of high-voltage electricity.

It's a crazy environment.

I've been electrocuted [laughs] quite a bit.

My parents split up when I was too young to remember.

My mom was dealing with personal issues,

so my daddy raised me from here up.

He always instilled a good work ethic.

He has supported me through all my trials

because with a day shift job, I have time to play at night.

My name is Gail Bliss.

I am 61 years young.

I am the oldest in the competition.

It's an honor.

I'm gonna wear that feather with pride.

I am a professional flight attendant.

I have been a flight attendant now for 39-plus years.

As much as I love to fly, I also love to sing.

I grew up singing with my dad and my sister

at home in southern Oregon, around my dad's Gretsch guitar,

and at 30 years old,

he had an opportunity of a lifetime

to be on RCA Records.

He said, "Nah, I'm raising two little kids in the country.

I think it's better for them that I stay here."

And then when I told him I wanted to be a musician,

he's like, "Are you sure about that?"

Yet when he was in one of my first audiences,

there was my dad sitting out there with a grin, ear to ear.

It made me so happy, made him happy.

He said, "You got what it takes. Just keep going, kid."

Gail has been pursuing music for at least close to 35 years now.

Gale is ambitious, she's creative, inspiring.

She's an amazing person.

In 1994, I was cast as Patsy Cline,

and I was touring in a theatrical show called

"A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline."

I was spunky, pure grit and determination.

I led that band just like Patsy Cline did.

I played that role for 30 years.

I set out when I turned 60 to really celebrate it.

I wanted to celebrate every decade of my existence

on planet Earth,

so I wanted to do six epic things.

I've completed five of my six epic things.

I'm living my sixth epic thing right now.

I'm here at "The Voice."

If I don't do this now,

when the heck am I gonna do it?

You know, why not?

My dad would tell me before I hit the stage,

he'd say, "You've got everything you need.

Go out there and give them hell."

I started singing in church in Paola, Kansas.

My mom was the director,

and she needed somebody to sing some solos.

I was 9 years old,

and I was hollering around the house,

so she said, "You're gonna sing."

My mom and dad were married for 36 years.

My dad showed me how to be a man and how to be a father.

I wish he was here to see me now.

I lost my dad September 6, 2023.

I had just had a conversation with him.

I took a nap, woke up abruptly,

and they said, "Something's wrong with your dad."

And I ran upstairs, and my dad was on the floor.

He was losing oxygen to his head,

and we performed CPR -- my brothers and I --

and we got him stable until the paramedics got there.

They got him to a breathing machine.

And, um, I was standing in the -- in the hospital,

and my brother and I, we put our hands on his chest

and told him that we have Mom, don't you worry.

And he took three more breaths, and he -- he left.

I know my dad would give me props right now,

because honestly, my whole life,

I've just been trying to make him proud.

Oh, man.

This opportunity is absolutely amazing.

I want to be able to be that example for my daughters.

So, I got to get a chair turn.
