[Episode 21]

Beat him.

[Princess of Valor's Mansion]

This is Mr. Han.

Stop.

Your Highness. He is so shameless.

How dare he to show up at the Princess of Valor's Mansion!

We must get him a good beating today.

What are you doing here?

Your Highness. Please save Sanniang.

Han Shiyuan. I gave you the chance, but you did not cherish it.

Now,

why do you come to me?

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

As long as you save Sanniang, and I will be at your disposal.

From now on, whatever you ask me to do, I will never say no.

How dare you!

Enough.

You really are spoony.

You'd risk your life for her.

Unfortunately, I wasn't the one who poisoned Sanniang.

I do not know how to save her either.

If you want to die with her,

then die far away.

Don't let me see you.

Manager Yang. Throw him back to the Yan Mansion.

Do not let him die here.

Yes.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Prince Xian. Yan Kuo is too timid to take on important tasks.

But his daughters can't be underestimated.

This time, Yan Sanniang has been poisoned.

I wonder if it's done by Princess of Valor or Chen Huo'e.

If Yan Sanniang really dies from the poison,

I think Princess of Valor can't explain her relationship with Chen Huo'e.

In fact, it doesn't matter whether it's done by Princess of Valor.

Shen Du will surely be on our side for his sister-in-law.

Even if Shen Du remains foolish and refuses to be on our side,

then Princess of Valor will also not trust him anymore.

Sir.

How many things have you done behind my back over these years?

Your Highness. I know you are kind-hearted.

But to achieve great things, one must be ruthless sometimes.

You were born in the royal family,

surely cannot escape from the schemes for power.

Even the Empress Dowager took steps cautiously to stay where she is now.

The Crown Prince's death that year was mysterious and unclear.

- And the Young Emperor… - Enough!

I spoke something wrong.

But I'm really loyal to you.

Sir. Over these years, you have been devoted to protecting me.

Every single thing you have done has been to pave the way for me.

I am well aware of it.

But I truly don't want to see in-fighting and conflict within the family.

If it has to go this way, then I don't want to be the Prince Regent.

Prince Xian.

You must never have such thoughts.

You are the Prince Xian.

In the future, you are destined to be as the Dacang's Prince Regent.

Every single thing that I have done

has been for you. Prince Xian.

How foolish!

How foolish!

Sir.

Is power really that obsessive?

[Chief's Office]

Great Chief.

Are you worried about Madam?

Nonsense.

Yes, it's my nonsense.

However, I might know

why the Madam toiled all night at the Ministry of Justice yesterday.

Yan Mojie came for me yesterday.

He asked me to help him look through the family's records.

I heard that the poison that Sanniang of the Yan family got

is Butterfly out of Cocoons from Huo'e Sect.

Butterfly out of Cocoons?

Yes, everyone in the Yan Mansion has been thrown into chaos these past two days.

It's indeed because of this.

The Yan Mansion has been thrown into chaos?

Why haven't I heard a word about it?

Perhaps the Madam doesn't want to trouble you.

Even Yan Mojie knows to get your help when there's trouble.

How could she not know whom to seek help from?

Then she might have her own connections.

It's said that the Madam went to the palace to look for the physician today.

I've heard she also showed them a prescription from the antidote of the Imperial Inspectorate.

It's said to be a confession from Chen Huo'e's interrogation.

The Imperial Inspectorate?

Chen Huo'e.

I have already inquired with that physician.

He said that the antidote might be genuine.

But one material in the antidote is really hard to find.

What's it?

It's the heart blood from the mirror image person.

[Lai Mansion]

Anyone? No one here in the Lai Mansion?

Great Chief. I think this Lai Luozhi is doing something weird again.

Since so, don't be anxious.

Stay here. I'll take a look at the back.

- Great Chief. - Don't worry.

Vice Minister Lai. You set up such a complicated setup,

isn't it just to lure me here?

What? Here I am now, yet you are hiding.

This is unlike your usual style in the royal court.

Sorry to disturb you. I am sorry.

Great Chief, it's your first visit to my mansion, and yet you chased after my families in the backyard.

If word gets out, it would be another joke.

Vice Minister Lai. Put away these intimidating things.

These little tricks of course can't impress you.

However, Great Chief, you've trespassed into my mansion today.

I think you owe me an explanation.

If I didn't come,

would you give me the heart blood of the mirror image person?

What do you mean?

You intentionally poisoned Yan Sanniang, and let Yan Xing to obtain the prescription.

Naturally, you have the heart blood of Chen Huo'e

for an exchange.

What you said is merely your theory.

I don't admit a word.

However, I happen

to have the heart blood of the mirror image person.

Great Chief, don't.

What? Do you despise the water in my mansion?

Or are you worried it's poisoned?

I have always respected you.

Great Chief, you've come with the imperial guards to my mansion.

If you cannot leave today, or after leaving, you're found to be poisoned,

it'd be hard for me to explain to the Empress Dowager.

Where is the heart blood of the mirror image person?

Right in this teacup.

Are you kidding me?

You've sealed the heart blood of the mirror image person in this teacup?

I specially found a skilled artisan from Xichen

to make this teacup of heart blood.

Actually, the thing you're looking for has always been right in front of you.

Yet you are so wary of me, not even daring to drink a sip of tea.

In fact, I am not that unworthy of trust.

Right?

In this world, the heart blood of the mirror image person is really hard to find.

And this teacup is ingeniously crafted.

Naturally, it won't be for free.

Vice Minister Lai, you have set up such a big trap to lure me here.

Just tell me what you want.

It's soothing to talk to a clever person.

In fact, I don't want anything.

Great Chief, just remember this favor of mine.

In the future, you have to repay it doubly.

Then there's no other way.

Let's see if you really love your wife so deeply,

even promising on an unknown thing to save your sister-in-law.

I…

owe you a favor.

Great Chief, see you.

[Lai Luofu]

I don't understand why you went through all this trouble.

First poisoning, then providing an antidote,

even asking me to show my face in front of Shen Du.

What do you want to do?

You don't need to know.

I don't need to know?

Hasn't my family done enough for your big ambitions?

Now,

I don't even have the right to know.

I'm sorry, sister.

I was just anxious. How could I not know your suffering?

Everything I've done is all about letting all of us get what we deserve.

Poisoning Yan Sanniang can arouse the suspicion of the Prince Xian,

Princess of Valor, and the Imperial Guards.

This goal has already been achieved.

As for Shen Du, he is the most difficult to deal with.

The Imperial Guards and the Shen Mansion are both sealed up tight.

The spies I arranged have all been kicked out.

Shen Du is on Prince Xian's side?

No. Shen Du has always been neutral in the court.

Neither siding with Prince Xian, nor favoring Princess of Valor.

And we don't deal with each other either.

The more cautiously he maintains neutral,

the more the Empress Dowager trusts him,

and the worse it is for what we're trying to do.

Then why not simply kill him? Or make a direct request to him?

The unknown promise is the scariest.

I want to make him feel uneasy,

fearful, and hesitant.

Wait for the fear to take root in him,

one day, I can make him play a role

greater than dying.

Liuniang.

Liuniang. All the medicinal herbs have been prepared.

Only the heart blood of the mirror image person is missing.

But as for Prime Minister Zhang, your father failed.

As for Princess Yong'an, Shiyuan got a beating.

I truly have run out of options.

Please. Please do something.

- Madam, what are you doing? - Mother.

Don't force Liuniang.

She's already doing something and getting tired like this.

What else can she do now?

Well…

Well, Great Chief.

Shut up.

Why should I shut up?

White Ghost killed that Chen Huo'e.

Now the retribution has fallen upon my daughter.

Why can't I just beg for White Ghost and ask him to think of a solution?

Even if Caiwei was once in the wrong against him,

but anyway, now she is also his sister-in-law.

- Mother. - Right. Sorry I'm late.

- Great Chief. - Rise up.

This is the material. The heart blood of the mirror image person is in this teacup.

Thank you so much, Great Chief.

Please rise.

Liuniang is my wife.

The matter of the Yan Mansion is also my matter.

Hurry up to save her.

- Thank you, Great Chief. Thank you, Great Chief. - I'll go and use it for the medicine now.

Hurry.

Caiwei can be saved now. Caiwei can be saved now.

Come on.

Liuniang.

When will I be the first person you turn to when you need help?

♫ I have waited until time bloomed into flowers ♫

♫ The ice and snow slowly melting ♫

♫ I hear those gentle words ♫

Liuniang.

♫ The flower in the mirror, the moon in the water, present in my dreams ♫

♫ It's not the vain and false glamour ♫

It's fine now.

♫ Chasing time, riding the white horse ♫

♫ Go together ♫

♫ Love is pure and flawless in essence ♫

♫ Let the vast universe change ♫

♫ Let's be together ♫

Is what Lai Luozhi said reliable?

Does the heart blood he gave really work?

Don't trust on anyone completely.

Shen Du, I have something to tell you.

If I don't tell you now, I'm afraid I won't get another chance.

Do you know why Prime Minister Zhang insisted on

having the daughter of the Yan family marry you?

Prime Minister Zhang threatened my father and the whole family to settle this marriage.

It was supposed to be Sanniang marrying you.

Later on, I married you for her.

But Prime Minister Zhang still wanted me to find a way

to be his and Prince Xian's informant in the Shen Mansion.

But I never really helped Prince Xian do anything to harm you.

I know.

I trust you would not harm me.

You know?

Do you really trust me?

Liuniang.

Since you have never done anything to harm me, there's no need to feel guilty.

If there's anything that causes doubts in the future,

come and ask me directly. Okay?

What are you doing?

Spit it out. Spit it out!

Spit it out.

- Hurry - You can test the medicine for Caiwei,

so I can naturally do it for you.

Who asked you to do so?

You…

I will use internal breath to spread the medicine throughout my body.

If I'm okay after a while, then Caiwei can take the medicine.

Why are you so foolish?

I should test the medicine for Caiwei as her sister.

What's wrong with you? Do you feel any discomfort?

You've just recovered from your injury. How could you take such a risk?

Do you feel any discomfort now? Any part of you making you feel unwell?

Do you feel any discomfort?

Tell me.

I'm really okay.

Since Lai Luozhi deliberately lured me over,

the thing he gave me should be genuine.

But he just didn't expect I'd try it myself.

Otherwise, he might put something lethal in it.

It hurts.

It hurts.

Let me see.

Not killed by the poison,

but I might be beaten to death by you.

The medicine is okay. Hurry up and bring it to Caiwei. Hurry.

Here's the medicine.

Hurry.

Don't worry. She'll wake up soon.

It has already been two hours.

Mother.

Caiwei, are you awake?

- Mother. - Caiwei, are you awake?

Liuniang.

Father.

Where is Mr. Han?

Sanniang.

Mr. Han, what happened to you?

Father, Father. Princess of Valor has sent a gift box and an invitation.

Princess of Valor? Read it.

I've heard that Mr. Han and Yan Sanniang are very much in love

and would never abandon each other in life or death.

What a touching love it is!

Your love makes me feel envious.

So I have the intention to accomplish your wish.

To such profound affection, I can't break it.

Thus, I specially bestow a precious jade ruyi, hoping you a good marriage forever.

It seems Princess of Valor

won't entangle with Mr. Han anymore and let you be together.

Liuniang.

Do you feel unwell?

No.

Why would Lai Luozhi do so?

To poison and then cure the poison.

He's done so much, why?

Perhaps his target is not Caiwei,

but me.

He set a trap to make you owe him a favor?

What did he threaten you? What did you promise him?

Don't worry, it's fine.

But Caiwei

has suffered this for nothing.

So the pursuit of justice

and the search for the truth

really bring the surrounding family unknown risks.

But the path we choose

is destined to be a tough road, isn't it?

Since we've decided, I won't regret it.

We must follow our hearts and give it our all to protect the people around us.

♫ One glance affirms the fate between us ♫

♫ Upon meeting again, I know you're the one for me ♫

♫ Gaze at the stars, dreaming about the old times ♫

Liuniang.

♫ Before the candlelight, do not ask my thoughts ♫

From now on, focus on doing what you think is right.

I will protect you and your family.

Shen Du.

♫ I share the autumn moon and spring breeze only with you ♫

♫ Your palm lines ♫

♫ Your gaze ♫

♫ Our love is deepening ♫

♫ You are the one for me ♫

Great Chief.

What's the matter?

Is it to escort Madam back home or to go to the Imperial Guards?

- Shen Mansion. - Yes.

Just now,

what did you want to ask me?

N-Nothing.

Shen Du, you protect me,

help me, and support me.

In your heart,

what do you think of me?

You…

You could rest early. I have to review.

Review?

The examination for the female officials is approaching.

I've made a bet to the Empress Dowager and Madam Xu

that I participated in the examination as a Senior Clerk.

If I fail, I couldn't even be a clerk.

Now that Caiwei's poison has been cured,

and the Chen Huo'e case has been settled,

it's a good time to review and study all night now.

So you moved all that stuff in and out tonight

just to use my light to review?

Yes, you like the light, right? It could save several lamps.

Then, I wish you success in the examination.

Thank you.

It's rare for you to ask to meet me, what's wrong?

Well, thank you.

Yan Sanniang's poison has been cured.

The prescription you gave me is genuine.

Of course, the prescription I gave you couldn't be fake.

I never lied to you.

You did…

Alright. I'm the one who's been calling you Mr. Mask.

You didn't really lie to me.

Anyway, thank you.

Thank you?

That's it?

I'm afraid it's not enough.

Then what do you want?

You shouldn't ask me that.

You should be the one to think carefully about how you would thank me.

Lu Chuichui, Lu Chuichui.

I'm here.

Chuichui.

Chuichui, Chuichui. What's wrong?

Stiffy.

I…

He…

I thought…

I thought…

What happened?

Nothing. My feet are numb.

Your feet are numb? I was worried about you.

I thought something serious had happened to you.

Stiffy, Stiffy.

Could you take me home?

Come on, take it slow.

What are you doing?

Didn't you say your feet are numb? I'll carry you.

Stiffy.

Well, if there is someone who is extremely cruel

and hated by everyone, but occasionally he also shows kindness

and helps others, is he a good person?

Is he worth making friends with?

You choose your friends by yourself,

only need to follow your heart, not by others.

If you think that person is a friend

and he is a good person, he will not hurt you.

Then he is worth making friends with.

Only follow my heart, not by others?

[Shen Mansion]

Chi.

When you receive this letter, I am probably already participating,

in the examination for the female officials of the Six Ministries.

This time, I have truly burnt my boats,

staking my future as a female official of the Ministry of Justice.

But I don't want to let down the Empress Dowager and Madam Xu.

Nor do I want to fail his help toward me.

[First Rank]

[Yan Xing]

[Rank List]

Oh my. Liuniang, you rank the top.

My Liuniang ranks the first.

Oh my. Brilliant, Liuniang.

You've finally been promoted to a Chief Clerk of the Ministry of Justice.

I am about to have an eighth-rank friend.

What about you?

Me? I don't care.

After all, I have an eighth-rank friend. I don't care if I fail.

- I'm happy. Chuichui.

You've made the list.

This time, I don't need to spend money to hire a teacher for you.

You made the list entirely by your own knowledge.

Although you came the last one on the list, I am happy for you. [Second Rank, Thirtieth Place]

[Lu Chuichui] My precious girl!

Chief Clerk, Madam has been promoted to a Chief Clerk of the Ministry of Justice.

Her official rank is now higher than mine.

Any problem?

No, not at all.

Let's go.

Father, The transfer order makes no mention of the Yan family.

Really?

I've checked line by line carefully.

In the transfer order personally signed by Prime Minister Zhang,

among the officials sent to garrison the frontier, there is no Yan family.

Great. Thank god.

My Yan family has finally escaped a disaster. Great!

Liuniang, today, what a blessing day to our Yan family!

Great!

Eat something good tonight.

- Okay. - Okay.

Mother.
