not by a long shot

do it all work and no play

all that ok so what's new

Paula please find a trash truck in

stolen claimed a robbery ready leads

2,000 pounds of rubbish or would you

like it remember I'll settle for lunch

- mrs. K said you wouldn't mind - Alex - have you on a budget no it's just a

Thought of a quarter million dollar

okay sure I got a surprise for you too

Mike I sent my birthday this one came

through my office for bank examiners

that Bank was scheduled for an audit in

- three days routine on it or somebody - suspect the board moves in mysterious

Ways

what can I think you digging oh nothing

thanks Duke have a date see if it's okay

with night watch this a half day sure

Nikki go ahead have fun okay TV life

it's worthwhile Anders any reason I

should see him

no no I don't think so okay that's good

ID and bushy tail his lenders I used

telling the bank turns out he's an old

friend of nice

she was talking about the casein what

else

Nikki hi please sit

thank you I went ahead and ordered for

you

for years that's a long time five but

who's counting

well what are we drink to to not looking

back a little glance every now and then

wouldn't hurt

why'd you leave that way Nikki I had my

job at the magazine

you also had a telephone and a

typewriter paper stamps none of which

were available to you at the PX well it

was hard to write with a busted ego

Thank You rose maybe but you got over it

I thought I had

well tell me about your job with

what's-his-name again

Mike Mike Longstreet must be quite a man

the band

shall we order yeah I'll learn about

Virgil Willis I feel he's about as

likely a bank robbers Grandma Moses like

I think you ought to get some slight

consideration of the fact that he has

robbed the bank I mean where is an old

man's then a generator most of his life

what does he get the idea not to mention

the know how to master mighty job like

this okay so the old man didn't set it

up maybe it was his partner the guy I

drove the trash truck

well maybe still it had to be somebody

on the inside somebody to pinpoint the

day when the big money would be in the

vault I was a janitor get information I

get he listens he pays attention maybe

he was dating one of the tellers Willis

an old one how do I know examiners they

still going ahead with that on it yeah

like a copy of that report since it

comes in I'm just who do you expect that

report Thank You Kate hello yes just me

yes you do hello yes it is I got you

right thanks Mike some of that money's

turned up did the Bank verify the serial

numbers yeah some guy plunked down a

bundle of $100 bills for new pickup

truck

the salesman figured it was a little

peculiar so he called the police

was it Virgil Willis nope was a man

called Victor

Thanatos hey there's a thing of beauty

ain't this a thing of beauty all right

excuse me uh would you mind telling us

where you got the money I found it in my

mailbox

you have no idea put it there now it

could have been Virgil Willis could have

been Babe Ruth look all I know is for

the past six weeks I've been laid up

with this this busted arm and nothing's

been coming in but nickels and dimes

only public assistance mr. Thanatos you

understand that money is stolen

look look mister you know what it is

women when you have rotten luck don't

you I mean when I when a guy can't work

at his job yeah that's hard

well he got a wife and kids that's

that's very hard

yeah mama I'm a bricklayer and I figure

with my own truck once I get this this

rotten cast off I

you're going to take a look my truck

behind you there will be a man by in

about an hour the court order

I'm sorry packs forward

uh mr. Santos your friend virtually

could be in more trouble than you or

even he realizes so if you hear from

anymore see him ask him to give me a

call would you thanks Lord mrs. Kay told

me you were here sorry I'm late

that's all right we all take three-hour

lunch breaks hmm I wonder how Roy's can

explain that he thought well even you

under Joe Willis know the police haven't

found him yet and no one's even seen

amazing out here somewhere

how do you know well he's been busy

spreading the wealth first he gives

$4,000 to Vic's Anna toast and now more

money is turning up an old widow and

Willis's neighborhood unmarried pregnant

girl seven kids with an absentee father

that guy is turning out to be a regular

Robin Hood well I think Jesse James is

more the image he has in mind oh well

whatever I wish you'd give a little more

thought to how it's gonna look in the

newspapers

heartless insurance executive demands

money back from pregnant girl and sudden

kids so let them keep the money

you know I'm tempted I really am but I

think my board of directors would take

exception and you know I don't think his

- partners are gonna be so crazy about his - generosity either what partners well

Mike thinks that there are at least two

other men involved

I want to stow the trash truck to pick

up Virgil and the other one maybe on the

inside of the truck cover the bank Oh

Jesse James was a lad Q many

hello oh it's a shame others my

Gloucester who is this

Oh mr. Longstreet this here is fragile

foolish

Virgil I I've been hoping I'd hear from

you

how are you alright ah I gotta talk to

you

sure sure you just tell me where yarn

will meet no no no i don'ti know but

you're long and run down here ah I want

to make a deal

what kind of the overdue well summer

come to me in a bossy heard me talking

and bragging he had this idea to rob a

bank just wanted to see if I could well

if I could do it now Virgil what fella

came to you at the bar it's more sweet

what would happen if I turn myself in

it's been weighing on my mind cuz I

wouldn't like no jail no I'll do

everything I can to help but first of

all you have to tell me where you are

Virgil

Rachel if I say I don't know where he is

and that means that I don't know where

he is

how did he get my phone number or the

phone book ain't you how to get my name

I don't know

mr. Thanatos Virgil scared he has good

reason to be scared

I suppose something happens to him ready

- to tell his friends a neighbor who had a - chance to help him and didn't

He's a sinner motel on that Carson

Street Thanks

I shouldn't let you there's no without a

search warrant or something I appreciate

right well no what is it over here by

the bed

that's wirless Virgil

Virgil

sure was mad cool cool

you

the telephone was pulled out of the wall

pillow was used to muffle the sound of

the gun whoever did it was efficient

even if he wasn't terribly neat what

about the money god an old man didn't

have car fare to the morgue on he was

lying on this book I'd like to see that

when you're done with it we're done

thank you why it's getting late

yes it is five years

I thought we agreed we're going to look

back okay

why did you call me I wanted to find out

if it would still be the same

seeing your being like it couldn't be

I'm not saying that in him we shouldn't

worry time and very very square how do

you like working at the Bing well I'm

not really a banker no more than I was a

truck driver salesmen office manager or

even an army officer collateral

I just things that I did to support my

habit you hooked on something like like

a no more confident world make a million

Lander say no more I'm glad enough of

all of my own review what about you are

you happy yes I like a job yes very much

how the investigation problem it isn't

and mike is going to want me bright and

early strong

I think I know why you left me in

Germany

you took a long hard look kind of cocky

very cocky soldier that's women and

money were meant for the same purpose

gamble we spend throw away and you win

and I can't say what I blame I don't

blame me either

I'm not the same man that I was thinking

you have changed Roy

there's only old man clutch the focus

before I died

I think he put my fingers on this

smudges kind of the way you would have

Helen see ya hey take it easy I said put

them there don't break them so what you

want well I don't know I didn't feel

like a natural sort of a grip to me no

it doesn't look like one

you know Mike the fingerprints seem to

be on specific letters look which ones

they belong now H R mu P Jafar mu P

unless you're looking for some dying

message spells hermit Ione man said

something before he died he tried to say

something think he'd get me the box

would you HRM EPA okay are you okay

I think Virgil Willis is true by someone

named Murphy for Murphy same person

drove the trash truck Robert but you

still subscribe to the Inside Man Theory

yes I do

oh yes it's Joan Collins I think there

had to be somebody on the inside if

somebody clever enough to pull it all

together and it could have been the old

man okay who well how about Bettany

sister managed by betted well because he

lives beyond his means

haha which of us doesn't sit but which

of us has a wife two ex-wives a house in

the suburbs

a mistress in town bays alimony I'll

admit that's a bit much but he comes up

clean of the audit suppose you're an

assistant bank manager John is just

DuPage I just want you to know

everything is going well mm-hmm Oh I'll

call you tomorrow

Thank You Duke suppose you're an

assistant bank manager and you had

pocketed twenty and thirty thousand

dollars I'd say of loose change and you

knew her you suspected that the bank was

about to be exempted now what would you

do Tenace downstairs well I could hide

my embezzling by arranging a bank

robbery how bad was the one who hired

Virgil well she admits to that and let

him absorb my crooked bookkeeping and

the quarter of a million dollars he

carries out with the trash exactly what

I'm suggesting

okay Benton's a suspect why stop there

uh who else any of the other employees

who knew the routine one of the tellers

mr. Longstreet mr. Landers is here Oh

miss Lana's coming in thank you what can

I do for you I told Mickey that I'd pick

her up for lunch studies if you can

consider well yes she should be back

here a couple minutes

how about some ice eat no thank you you

ever try any juggling mr. Landers the

tennis balls are with vigorously oh

you're right I guess that's no question

to ask I banked already oh that's fine

anything new in the case yes we found

found Burger Willis when last night she

motel did you find the money did he talk

I tried to find dad there's somebody

shining assertable tell me did you know

there was gonna be an audit Bank

no ideas catch the personnel off-guard

- doesn't get there are any discrepancies - employees be the last people prosper

Doesn't were that sort of thing at a way

of thinking out bank officers might've

mom managers on vacation

assistant manager mr. Benton might have

a friend down probably nobody else would

know my date oh he bikinis okay okay

beaches garden I have picked up the big

exam as our report always go over that

have to listen well I don't think

there's much food to over mic examiners

couldn't find one dismal going out of

place so I get somebody convincing

gadget you're quite crazy what's going

on you killed that pathetic old man why

because he wouldn't stop to handing out

money buying other cups to have a name

rank and serial number

you picked him I also picked you and I

made it work

still working I'll be around

no I didn't know anyone for the name

Murphy miss Benton you had a lot of

personal expenses how did you find out

about her and you've got a pretty wide

path it's not hard to follow oh I have

my hands full I would appreciate it mr.

Longstreet if you would lay off me

- how many applicants were there for the - janitors job six eight something like

That the other employees they knew about

the job opening as I suppose so what

made you pick Virgil Willis I think

somebody recommended him who I don't

know somebody in the bank here yeah it

could have been Harold the guard are you

sure yes oh I was one of the tellers

what's his name uh Landers I think it

was him

is something wrong mr. Longstreet I

guess there is

thank you yes lots

all that's terrific

I have to work this weekend never can

tell

I told me about Virgil Willis's murder

do you have any leads just a name mm-hmm

oh I'm sorry that's label top secret

I'll hear someone I want you to meet

Duke hi

all right like you meet royal Landers

Duke page this page hello Roy a lot

about you don't believe any of it

yeah I got to get back to work okay talk

to you later Roy Roy nice to meet you

Paige How well do you know mr. Landers

pretty well Mike we didn't talk to you

so I'm late mr. Benton won't happen

again that is why I wanted to see you

you were the one who recommended that I

hire Virgil Willis weren't you yes sides

in one count I'll say it didn't work out

because of you that insurance man

Longstreet has been prying into my

private life and he's been asking a lot

of embarrassing questions or questions

about a certain young lady that happens

to be nobody's business but mine about

somebody named Murphy I'm sorry Mike I

won't believe it I just won't believe it

I mean there may be some coincidences

but you don't know Roy he's a decent

caring human being and I just won't

believe that he's capable of robbing a

bank killing that old man those are two

different things Nicky you're mistaken

about him once before weren't you what

do you mean five years ago in Germany I

mean isn't it possible Nicky that but

even then you sense something about him

something that scared you off no I

didn't you could have stayed in Germany

longer gotten to know him better I had

my job to get back to Nicky are you in

love with him look I know you're

concerned about me and you don't want me

- to get hurt or sheriff you're right it's - none of my business

I don't know I was in love with him but

I think I owe it to myself to find out

this time I think I'm gonna have myself

taken off this case

no Mike don't do that please not on my

account I just want you to prove to

- yourself that Roy did not do those - things if I stay on the case Nicky you

Know I'm gonna have to press don't you I

need it

I've asked Duke to check on Roy's army

records why looking for a link to that

man Murphy don't the police have any

leads no not yet

Nicky I I hope I am wrong but do

something for me will you

Carl Ryan telling me won't be seeing him

again until this case is saying that

would be like admitting I believe he's

guilty I can't do that Mike

on the street moves your name well body

find out like I knew it pay off you to

hang around that lady didn't tell me you

said you were going to leave town

what are you hanging around for that you

just cut out sale order captain Oh

Murphy that is not an order I just think

it would be wise for you to leave town

look you want to split be my guest

I'll sit tight and cover for you exactly

like you always said captain you don't

want these snipers at your back when you

move it out snipers Longstreet captain

Roy Landers served in Vietnam and he was

transferred to Germany and put in charge

of a base px that's ridicu

shortly after that he was charged with

selling px merchandise and the black

market

you mean Landers was court-martialed out

of the army left quakes his sergeant was

brought up on charges - he exonerated

Landers and swore that he wasn't

involved the army had to drop its case

against Landers but after that they

never considered him a likely candidate

for promotion all right all right so

Landers lied about why he quit the army

that still doesn't make him a bank

robber Mike the sergeant was released

from Leavenworth three months ago his

name is Arnold Murphy the police have an

APB out on him you want me to go with

you no no thanks - cool I'll tell Nicky

alone

you

signee

no no just something came up that's all

look it's still early want some coffee

okay tonight

who is it I talk to you for a minute

Sanders yes okay thank you possibly

count you know in colleges why are you

leaving I know not much to staying in

one place anything to do with Arnold

Murphy I figured you put it together

sooner or later I tried to get rid of

Murphy but he's still around and he's

trouble how far do you think you'll get

far enough Longstreet I want you to know

I I want you to tell Nikita I never

intended to you sir or involve her in

any way where I get yourself up no it's

just a question of time time time is

what it's all about isn't it time I

trying to hope a time to plan time to be

alive

watch out for Murphy Myka and please say

goodbye to Nikki you know I'm gonna have

to do everything I can to stop you don't

you

what shoot me one phone call make it

there's no evidence there's no proof so

Murphy and I used to know each other

there's nothing to tie us together now

nothing to tie either of us to the bank

robbery there's a bartender who saw

Murphy and Virgil Willis together

believe me Roy a case can be built out a

step at a time linked at a time funny

just the way I had it figured

look who I bumped into captain Mike let

it go Murphy all right forget it

Longstreet make you dog behavior I'll

put a brother I'm sorry Mike

it's alright alright let's lock him on a

classic cadet II that's bright

you think this is just his little secret

they didn't totally buddy else the

airport will be watched every road out

of town will be blocked there's an APB

out on you it's over Murphy funny that's

not the way I figured I figured we got

two free passes out of town let's go -

I'll let him take Nicky what are you

standing there for they stay I told you

I don't take orders from you anymore

captain and I'm telling you that we

don't need them listen to me Murphy I

listened to you once and it got me five

years in prison what's it gonna get me

this time Hank let me have the gun

mister stay where your captain let me

have the gun mister I don't listen to

you anymore you'll listen because

without me you can't make it without me

you're nothing but a simple sponge brain

- dogface who wouldn't know is here from - his elbow

Boy I know you're thinking it's all over

for you

aren't you but it isn't not if you stop

now all this man see gotta lose who is

she anyway I already told you someone

special

operator give me the police

hi oh sorry

start up for me would you

how's that sound better my Gaea I have

something to tell you

what

I wasn't in love with Roy but I I think

I loved him once I think he loved you

it's a nice thing loving someone it's

one of the best things like I listen

that motor home I think it's gonna be

okay Nikki

okay once around the block
