[Love of Nirvana]

[Episode 24]

That's nonsense! I don't even know you.

Who... Who is your husband?

My husband is Xiao Wu Xia.

You...

- Xiao Wu Xia? - He's our enemy.

How did you get the jade hairpin?

Are you still playing dumb?

I clearly told you this is from my late husband, Xiao Wu Xia.

Your late husband?

Who is he then?

How would I know?

You... You're full of lies.

Elder Li, I came all this way to seek your help.

You promised me that if I gave you the jade hairpin, you'd clear my husband's name.

You even arranged for a Liang official to protect me.

- So why are you betraying me now? - Shut up!

- What Liang official? - He's right over there.

Liang official? Who?

Who is he?

It's Zhang Zhi Cheng.

I can't believe you colluded with the Zhenyuan Army!

You're dead!

Help me, General Zhang!

Kill them!

Yueluo Army!

Don't panic. Get out of there.

- Go! - I have to help!

- Young Master is in danger. - Don't cause trouble. Let's go.

Let's get to a safe place. Come on.

Let's go!

My Lord, what's this?

- Watch out! - Why is your maid working with Wei Zhao?

Zhang Zhi Cheng, you killed countless members of my clan.

I'll make you pay in blood today!

Give me back Ci.

Not a chance.

Ci, I didn't mean to hurt you.

My Lord, I'm grateful to you for taking care of me.

And I'll never forget your kindness.

But Pei's Residence is not my home.

Please go back.

- Ci... - My Lord, we can't stay here.

Let's go back first. Let's go, My Lord.

Come on!

Are you all right?

I'm fine.

How did you get hurt?

Guxing Peak is so hard to climb.

Next time, I'll bring better tools before I go picking Lingjiu Flower.

You knew it was dangerous, and you shouldn't have come.

You knew you'd get hurt, but you showed up too.

Take them away!

Quick!

Father, they...

He won't run.

All right.

- Hurry up! - Move!

Move!

I can't believe Jiang Ci had joined hands with Wei Zhao.

Shut up.

Pei Yan.

Pei Yan, you must give me an explanation today for General Zhang's death!

The people of Yueluo were already riled up.

General Zhang refused to back down, so...

I couldn't stop him.

So, you're saying it's my subordinate's fault?

Pei Yan, are you in league with the Yueluo people to kill General Zhang?

General Lu, none of us saw this coming, and His Lordship is gravely injured as well.

If you're here to accuse him, I suggest you wait until he's recovered.

Who do you think you are?

Is this your place to speak?

General Lu, if General Zhang hadn't insisted on interfering with the ceremony

and ended up giving up his identity, he wouldn't have met such a fate.

If you insist on pinning this on me, we'll have to argue it out.

I deeply regret General Zhang's death, but I had no part in it.

I'm sorry for your loss, General Zhang.

You've got a silver tongue.

I'll settle this score with you another day.

My Lord, easy there.

My Lord, what are you...

Prepare more funeral offerings.

Make sure to properly console Zhang Zhi Cheng's family.

Yes, My Lord.

We can't let Zhang Zhi Cheng die in vain.

Yueluo has gone too far.

I have to give His Majesty an explanation.

You might fool everyone else, but not me.

You've been working with Xiao Wu Xia all along.

You're presumptuous.

Fine. I'm leaving...

You don't stop me from running away from home?

If you were really going to leave, why wait until I showed up?

Don't you think you owe me an explanation?

You teamed up with an outsider, set up this whole scheme, and even dragged your own son into it.

You're too impulsive.

If I'd told you ahead of time, you might've spilled the beans and ruined everything.

Fine.

Since I'm so useless and unreliable in your eyes, I'm done here.

Stop right there.

You keep saying you want to be the city lord of Yueluo

and give our people a safe prosperous life, and now you're just giving up?

Do you think that position's easy to hold?

Father, have you really forgotten who's to blame for the mess Yueluo's in now?

You didn't even witness what happened back then.

How can you be so sure that Xiao Hai Tian was the villain?

What about Xiao Wu Xia then?

How do you know he won't betray us?

You really want to know?

If you do, come with me.

Are you all right?

Does the wound still hurt?

No.

What about the wound on your face?

Young Master.

Are you all right?

I'm fine, Mr. Ping.

Don't worry.

Elder Hong? Come. Please come inside.

Go now.

Go.

Go.

He went that way. Go after him!

Yu Lian.

- Yu Lian. - Mr. Ping.

What happened to you?

Are you hurt?

I'm all right.

Yu Lian, how's your injury?

I'm fine. Don't worry.

Let's take you back to your room. Come on.

You've suffered.

I'm fine.

It's been years since we last met, and we've only kept in touch through letters.

But with just one letter asking for help,

you came all the way back, and risked your life to help us.

I knew I made the right choice of saving you.

On behalf of Yueluo, I thank you.

- Please accept my bow. - Uncle.

I came back this time to repay the debt I owe you.

This has nothing to do with Yueluo.

It was me who asked him to return.

Without his help, we never would've caught Li Mu, the traitor.

If not for him, Yueluo would've become Lu Yu's pawn,

and our people would've suffered greatly.

Li Mu might have been exposed, but his supporters need to be rooted out.

We must put an end to Lu Yu's plans in the city.

Don't worry. I've made arrangements.

Within a few days, Li Mu and his accomplices will be wiped out.

Yueluo can finally catch its breath.

Uncle, there's one more thing.

I've sent word to Ji Lang, and asked him to reach out to Elder Ji.

I hope you can help pass the message along.

That's good to hear. I'll thank you on his behalf.

Jiang Ci. Give me the jade hairpin.

Please accept the jade hairpin.

Wu Xia, you... What are you doing?

- Get up. - You care deeply about Yueluo.

You're its backbone, and its blessing.

The jade hairpin should rightfully be yours.

I can't accept that.

If it weren't for the traitors threatening Yueluo's survival,

all I'd want is to live a quiet life with Hong Jie.

In these chaotic times, living peacefully is easier said than done.

Uncle, it's better to take control of your own fate.

Please accept the jade hairpin.

But this hairpin is the only keepsake your father left you.

I'll always remember my father.

I don't need a token to honor his memory.

All right then. Please get up.

But remember, I'm just holding it for you.

Yueluo will always welcome you home.

My heart isn't set on Yueluo.

I'm not fit for such a great responsibility.

All I want is to uncover the truth of what happened back then, and clear my father's name.

Once that's done...

The Winter Clothes Festival is almost here.

You haven't spent the holiday in Yueluo for years.

Stay a little longer.

After the festival, winter will begin.

Spending the first day of winter at home is a blessing.

Let's stay.

All right then.

Are you sure you know how to do it?

- About what I told you... - Just trust me.

I've read tons of medical books.

I may not have done it myself, but I've seen other people do it.

No. I know we need to be careful, but surely we can find a real physician, right?

Just trust me.

You've been hurt too many times, and your elbow is dislocated.

We have to set it right away.

You're going to set it?

Who else?

Would you prefer Le to do it?

How about I give it a try?

Do you not trust me or are you afraid it'll hurt?

I'm afraid of pain? I'm not even afraid of death!

Not being afraid of death doesn't mean you're not afraid of pain.

It'll be quick. Just one move and it'll be set.

You know what, it's not that bad, I can still throw a few punches.

Just sit still.

You two, hold her still for me.

- Hang on, Jiang Ci... - Right now, I'm in charge.

You will listen to me.

- It'll be over soon. - Ouch! Ouch!

- It'll be over soon. - Ouch! Ouch!

Bear with me.

Oh, Jiang Ci...

Jiang Ci.

I'm fine now, Jiang Ci.

You're fine now, but I'm not.

Did I hit your nose?

- Does it hurt? - I'm fine.

Just rest.

Stop moving around.

You've got internal injuries.

Why didn't you wait for me?

Young Master, now that Li Mu has been captured,

I was thinking... Should we...

Should we leak the news about Jiang Ci being in Yueluo to the Yans?

After the festival.

- But Young Master... - Didn't you hear me?

After the festival.

With Zhang Zhi Cheng dead in Yueluo,

I'm worried that Lu Yu will use it as an opportunity to stir up trouble.

I've had Yifei send a secret letter, exposing how Lu Yu planted spies.

That'll deepen His Majesty's suspicion of him.

I think His Majesty wouldn't take it out on Yueluo.

Then... Then... What about Pei Yan?

I have the account book.

He won't make any reckless moves.

I'm more worried that Pei Yan won't stop hounding you.

Right now, dealing with Lu Yu is enough to keep him busy.

I'll make a quick trip to Liangzhou, just to make sure no one can use this against me later.

It's all His Majesty's fault.

He approved the military reforms, but wouldn't give you any real power to keep Lu Yu in check.

Lu Yu could've suppressed Wei Zhao,

and we could have gotten the account book, but Jiang Ci ruined everything.

How are you going to report this to His Majesty, My Lord?

I'm not reporting it.

You're not?

Lu Yu will use Zhang Zhi Cheng's death as an excuse to target Yueluo,

just to avoid being sent back to Qingkang.

Sanlang won't sit by and do nothing.

They'll tear into each other in front of His Majesty, which will make him suspicious.

Not reporting it is the best move.

But won't His Majesty think you're neglecting your duties if you do nothing?

Let's wait and see.

As long as the catch is big enough later, His Majesty won't mind.

Sanlang said that Lu Yu had secretly planted spies in Yueluo,

trying to bring the city under his control.

Yueluo already pledged its loyalty to Liang.

Lu Yu's actions are completely unnecessary.

But Lu Yu claimed Yueluo was plotting rebellion,

and even killed one of his deputy generals.

That's completely different from what Commander Wei said.

Sanlang is more trustworthy than Lu Yu.

But still, I can't forget that Sanlang and Lu Yu have been by my side since they were teenagers.

They are both equally brave and bold.

I didn't misjudge Lu Yu.

He's a fierce and capable general, but his loyalty is lacking.

As for Sanlang...

Commander Wei is Consort Wei's brother.

He's been following Your Majesty since he was young

and has done much for you over the years.

Any news from Pei Yan?

Nothing.

Now he's staying silent.

Looks like even he can't fully grasp the situation in Liangzhou.

What's this?

It's a memorial from Minister Shao [The Zhenyuan Army needs provisions]

Requesting this month's grain allocation for the Zhenyuan Army.

Approve it as usual.

Yes, Your Majesty.

[Yueluo]

Isn't the Winter Clothes Festival about offering sacrifices and honoring ancestors?

Why does it feel more like a New Year's celebration here in Yueluo?

The people of Yueluo are naturally open-hearted and optimistic.

Even when remembering the departed, they don't like to weep and mourn.

Over time, the Winter Clothes Festival has become

more of a day to reunite with friends and family.

Maybe they want their ancestors to see that they're doing well, so they can rest easy.

Wu Xia, it's been years since you've tried the good liquor from home.

Tonight, we're drinking until we drop.

Come on.

My heartless father, am I still your son?

You're not even spending the festival with me,

and now you've dug up the plum liquor you were saving for my wedding.

Talk about favoritism.

Fine, let me spice things up for you.

What are you...

I'm sorry you had to witness this.

Come on. Wu Xia, let's try this liquor.

You're pretty strong.

There's barely any medicine in here.

No way.

It's all flour.

You got scammed.

What?

I felt sorry for that beggar on the street, and bought it, only to get swindled out of a tael of silver.

Next time, I'll make some for you.

Whoever eats it will keep running to the bathroom.

- Really? - Totally.

- Let's eat. - You're amazing.

Put some dishes into your grandma's bowl.

I'm not eating. I'm going out.

Where are you going?

There's nothing to eat at home.

I'll grab something outside.

Everyone's here celebrating together, and you're going to eat out?

With who?

Hong Jie, if you dislike him so much, just stay away from him.

But letting him eat all this food by himself?

What a waste.

You're right.

I should show my mother how generous I can be.

I shouldn't starve myself only to make my enemy happy.

You're such a nice girl, what were you thinking about marrying him?

It's just a temporary arrangement. Don't you get it?

Are you an idiot?

You're a great girl too, but you're working for him.

Besides, the two of them bicker like a married couple. How am I supposed to tell?

If you don't have anything nice to say, just eat.

Come.

It's rare for us all to reunite like this.

May the spirits of our ancestors watch over us, so our family can sleep peacefully,

without a care in the world.

May we be blessed with good health, and boundless energy.

May peace be restored, like sunshine after the rain.

May our skills improve, and our spirits soar.

May family stay together, never to be separated.

May we be blessed with prosperity and longevity.

May we live in peace year after year, and always be together.

May we drink together again this time next year.

- Cheers. - Cheers!

Let's sit down.

- Let's drink another glass. - Come on.

- Fill the glass. - Yours too.

Do you people in Yueluo eat such spicy food?

Yes, we like it spicy and tangy.

I'll try some too.

Here, try this.

Go ahead, have a bite.

Thank you.

Have some more if you like it.

Here, madam.

Thank you, my savior.

You should have some more too.

All right.

- Is it good? - Yes. It's really good.

- This is really good. - I'm not eating what you put into my bowl.

Come on, I'm saving this for you. Try it.

This is really good. Just take a bite.

- I'll just try one. - Okay.

- It's good, right? - That one.

This?

Try it.

It's good liquor.

- Try this. - Let me try it.

That's not bad too.

I told you, it's good.

Yummy.

Come.

I still have dishes to wash.

There's a gathering tonight.

Will there be good food and fun stuff?

Do you feel better now?

I haven't felt upset.

Sit here.

Come.

I was just thinking, maybe my parents are up there watching over me.

Maybe it's better if they're not.

Who knows? They're probably somewhere enjoying themselves, drinking and chatting,

living a good life.

They left you behind to live a good life.

Don't you hate them?

I don't.

Hating someone is exhausting.

It wastes time and energy.

Why would I bother with something that doesn't help anyone?

I want to go to that gathering you mentioned.

Sure, but first, you'll have to draw a turtle on your face.

Draw a turtle?

Are you messing with me?

Sorry about that.

Some women of age refuse to be enslaved,

so they disfigure their faces and avoid gatherings.

To encourage them, the people of Yueluo started painting marks on their faces

to cover their scars.

Over time, it became a tradition.

Draw it for me then.

♫ Like plucking a red bean, I'm deeply in love with you ♫

I just remembered, we can use other designs too.

It doesn't have to be a turtle.

You...

Hold still, or it really will end up looking like a turtle.

Go on then.

♫ A flower of love blossoms and never withers in love ♫

♫ Fold a kite, let it fly with the wind into sweet dreams ♫

♫ Our beautiful moments endure through time, and we never part ♫

♫ My love sees the sun rising and the moon setting ♫

♫ Your face stays vivid in my mind ♫

♫ Two hearts ♫

Done?

Yes.

♫ For your unwavering heart ♫

Shameless Cat, your drawing skills are good enough to set up a face-painting booth.

All right. Go find Yu Lian and the others.

Don't go. I'm going to paint one on you too.

No need. I'm not going.

If you wear a mask, no one will recognize you.

I'm not afraid of being recognized.

Don't move. If you keep moving, I'll draw a giant turtle on you.

Actually, forget it.

I'll just draw on your mask instead.

It'd be a shame to mess up such a handsome face.

At least you know your limits.

♫ Fold a kite, let it fly with the wind into sweet dreams ♫

♫ Our beautiful moments endure through time, and we never part ♫

♫ My love witnesses the sun rising and the moon setting ♫

♫ Your face stays vivid in my mind ♫

♫ Two hearts bound to each other ♫

♫ Like flowing water, love and hate continue ♫

♫ I only hope your heart lasts as long as the Heavens and Earth ♫

♫ You are still there when I turn back ♫

♫ Those wonderful times feel just like yesterday while I hold your hand ♫

♫ Our time together is cherished, and our memories are everlasting ♫

Done.

Guess what I drew.

What?

A phoenix.

The phoenix rises from the ashes.

It's a great symbol.

It'll bring you good luck, and help your dreams come true.

You're calling this a phoenix?

Well, it's almost a phoenix.

You call this "almost"?

I think it's not bad.

Looks like I won't be able to set up that face-painting booth with you.

Well, maybe you can handle the money, and I'll do the painting.

They're dancing so beautifully.

Look how happy they are. It's wonderful.

Come on. Let's join them.

Come on!

Let's go.

♫ The moon is fading off ♫

♫ Frost on the sword, string of the bow ♫

♫ Bond people together ♫

♫ The rain heading north and the wild geese returning from the south ♫

♫ Who can meet again? ♫

♫ Looking at the mountains far away and seeing everything red ♫

♫ Immersed in the passing years ♫

♫ Back then, the road seemed ordinary ♫

♫ Yet now I am left wandering in this life ♫

♫ Faint memories of the past ♫

♫ All tell of parting sorrows ♫

♫ Back then, the road seemed ordinary ♫

♫ Amidst the wind, I suddenly look back ♫

♫ The face that feels so dear to me ♫

♫ Where are you now? ♫

♫ Back then, the road seemed ordinary ♫

♫ Looking back, it seems like a dream ♫

- Are you having fun? - Yes.

♫ Don't waste time ♫

♫ Back then, the road seemed ordinary ♫

♫ Taste all the vicissitudes of life in a flash ♫

♫ Though nothing is permanent ♫

♫♫

It's so pretty.

Yu Lian.

I've never met a woman as impressive as you.

I...

I...

Yu Lian...

Yu Lian...

Yu Lian, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

- Stop following me. - I crossed a line.

I'm not following you.

Yu Lian!

Look, a girl confessed her feelings!

What does that mean?

Putting flowers on someone's head is a way to show someone you like them.

Wait, now she's changed her mind?

I just wanted to...

That was fast!

I know her. Isn't she Xiao Wu Xia's wife?

Xiao Wu Xia's wife?

- What is she doing here? - It's her.

It's Xiao Wu Xia's wife.

She's one of the Xiao Family.

- Go away! - You cannot stay here!

Throw things at her!

Throw!

You're not welcome here!

- Who are you? - Why are you being nosy?

Get out of here!

I'm Xiao Wu Xia.

Xiao Wu Xia? Isn't he dead?

Yes. Isn't Xiao Wu Xia dead?

Didn't he die?

I'm not dead.

Everything she said was to protect me.

So if you have a problem, take it up with me.

Get out! You're not welcome here!

Leave now!

You're not welcome here!

- Get out! - Leave now!

Never come again!

Are you all right? Are you hurt?

Do you know why this place is called Yueluo, which means "Moon-fall"?

The people here believe they're the closest to the moon, blessed under its protection.

My father once vowed to make sure every member of Yueluo

lived a life of happiness, peace, and joy,

but in the end, things didn't go as planned.

But aren't you making that happen now?

I'm sure things will turn out the way you hope.

The song you just played is called "The Moonfall Ballad".

Everyone in Yueluo knows it.

Whether they're happy, sad, or in danger,

they sing it.

Teach me how to sing it.

♫ The place where the moon sets ♫

♫ Must be where home is ♫

♫ The moon is clear as the moonlight shines bright ♫

♫ As people laugh, their shadows grow ♫

♫ The moonlight makes no sound ♫

♫ A tinkling in my heart ♫

♫ The moonlight makes no sound ♫

♫ A tinkling in my heart ♫
