[Episode 22]

- Let's split up. - Sure.

Elder Hong, I remember you.

Who are you?

As long as the jade hairpin is in my hand,

you can forget about securing the position of city lord.

- Stop chasing. - Father!

This is a serious matter, we need to plan carefully.

Elder Hong, did you find out that man's identity when you confronted him?

All I know is he admitted that he has the jade hairpin.

The jade hairpin has been missing ever since the death of Xiao Haitian.

That man has been defending Xiao Haitian today.

Could he be Xiao Wuxia?

The jade hairpin indeed went missing along with the siblings of the Xiao family those days.

If he is really Xiao Wuxia, I will definitely confront him.

Xiao Wuxia's fate has been unknown for many years.

If that's really him, there is something fishy about his sudden appearance.

Could it be that he's here to compete for the position of city lord?

How dare he.

All the incidents in Yueluo are caused by the Xiao family,

yet he has the nerve to claim himself to be the city lord?

Even if he wants to fight for it, who in this city recognizes him?

What do you intend to do?

According to Yueluo tribe's teachings,

to be the city lord, indeed, one has to possess the jade hairpin.

At present, since we have clues about the jade hairpin,

isn't this a golden opportunity to unite Yueluo tribe?

If he is really Xiao Wuxia, not only can we provide an explanation to the tribe,

but we can also establish our authority and prestige.

Well, Elder Li, you are saying...

Although I came first in today's election,

having a vote-based competition was a last resort, and it's unfair to everyone.

How about if the person who finds the jade hairpin gets to be the next city lord?

Guys, look over there.

Search carefully.

Have you all seen what happened today?

I heard that man is Xiao Wuxia.

I can't believe it.

Otherwise, why would Elder Ping and Elder Ji be so desperate to capture him?

If that is really Xiao Wuxia, I will be the first to fight him.

Yes, that's right!

If it weren't for the Xiao family, we wouldn't be suffering today.

That Xiao Wuxia actually has the nerve to come back.

Right.

Xiao Haitian ruined our family, our wives and children were separated.

How many of the tribes people have left their homes and died, not leaving a corpse?

- Right! - Why should he, a member of the Xiao family, survive well?

- Yes! - Right!

Xiao Haitian died just like that, and it was too easy for him!

- Too easy! - Exactly!

Let's go to the Xiao family now to get justice!

- Let's go! - Go!

- Let's go together! - Go!

- Let's follow them! Yes! - We'll tear the house down!

[Xiao Residence]

[Xiao Residence]

[Xiao Residence]

What are you doing here?

The Xiao family is right in front. Smash it!

Go! Make them suffer!

Destroy the Xiao family!

Avenge our loved ones!

Yes, destroy them!

This way, it's right in front!

Right here!

This way!

[Xiao Residence]

Destroy their house!

Smash it!

- Destroy the Xiao family! - Destroy them! Here!

Here, too!

Don't think you'll have it easy either!

Smash it!

Smash it!

Here!

Smash it!

Why are they doing this again?

Stop!

Stop at once!

- Harder! - I said stop! Do you hear me?

They are already dead, yet you're still causing a ruckus here.

Leave, do you hear me?

Let's go!

Go!

♫ The wind sighs as catkins fill the city ♫

♫ The cuckoo cries as it longs for home ♫

♫ ♫

Go.

Sing me a song.

What song do you want to listen to?

I'd like to listen to Yueluo Ballad.

♫ The long goose has nowhere to land ♫

♫ Drinking with the moon with a cup of sorrow ♫

♫ Lost in a drunken slumber before the third watch ♫

♫ Every night and day ♫

♫ I can only turn my endless yearning ♫

♫ Into countless stars across the sky ♫

♫ Can you see ♫

♫ My distant homeland ♫

♫ Teary eyes that are shining for you ♫

♫ Flipping through those unforgettable scenes ♫

♫ In my dreams ♫

♫ It has turned into smoke in the blink of an eye ♫

♫ Only one song is left in my ear ♫

♫ Singing the ancient fable ♫

♫ The moon is clear as the moonlight shines bright ♫

♫ Bright in the sky, rippling in the water ♫

♫ The place where the moon sets ♫

♫ Must be where home is ♫

♫ Whenever I gaze at the horizon ♫

♫ And the lonely phases of the moon ♫

♫ Past events resurfaced again ♫

♫ Can you see ♫

♫ My distant homeland ♫

♫ Beneath the same moon ♫

♫ The moon is clear as the moonlight shines bright ♫

♫ As people laugh, their shadows grow ♫

♫ The moonlight makes no sound ♫

♫ A tinkling in my heart ♫

When I was young, my master measured my height like this, too.

The one on the left belongs to my sister, and the right one is mine.

In the past, our parents measured our heights every birthday.

I told my sister that I would grow taller than her in the next year every time.

I will measure it for you this time.

There.

Raise it higher.

Father, did I practice well?

Why do you want to practice martial arts?

I want to be as brave, strong, and be a hero that everyone admires, just like you.

Good. Keep going.

It's time to eat.

Brother, come on. It's your favourite Bitterless Congee.

Coming.

Are you hungry?

Let's eat.

Sure.

Watch out.

I have made you suffer yesterday.

Relying solely on a vote or the martial competition,

no elders can secure the position of city lord,

hence they muddled the situation of the election with the jade hairpin.

The spy, in a rush to seize the opportunity, is likely to reveal his true intention.

I'm just concerned that he might ask for help from Lu Yu.

If that happens, I'm afraid your identity may be exposed.

You'd better leave as soon as possible.

Nothing can be accomplished without taking risks.

I will act with caution discreetly, and will leave as soon as I found the spy.

As for the rest, you can handle it.

That works, too.

[Yueluo]

[Liangzhou]

According to a confidential report from Qingkang,

Pei Yan has persuaded His Majesty to implement military reform.

He'll arrive in Liangzhou in the next few days.

I fear it will endanger you at that time.

Pei Yan is a little too inexperienced to deal with me.

My Lord, a letter from our covert arrangement in Yueluo came.

The selection of the city lord has been postponed.

Why?

Someone showed up in Yueluo with a jade hairpin, and disrupted the plan.

What jade hairpin?

It is a symbol of Yueluo, also a relic of Xiao Haitian.

Our covert arrangement is speculating that the man who came was Xiao Wuxia, Xiao Haitian's son.

I wonder if there is some kind of conspiracy.

As expected, the slave tribe is timid and afraid of getting into trouble.

Let's not talk about how Xiao Wuxia, a mere lost boy from a doomed family,

could stir up any waves.

He's just a dog after all.

Tell him that the most important thing now is

to take the position of city lord as soon as possible.

Yes, My Lord. I'll convey the message right away.

[Liangzhou]

We are arriving at Zhenyuan Army Camp.

I'm afraid General Gong has set something up.

Your Lordship, you must be careful.

Since the proposal for military reform has been put forward, it is bound to offend Lu Yu.

I'm afraid it won't be easy to take Lu Yu back to Qingkang.

We need to divert his attention from me.

Have the advance scouts in Liangzhou found any leads on Wei Zhao's whereabouts?

There is none.

Could it be... that he is not in Liangzhou?

Liangzhou is adjacent to Yueluo.

I discovered that the election, for the city lord of Yueluo is currently taking place.

I wonder if Wei Zhao will be there.

Wei Zhao is really occupied.

Being a commander is not enough for him, he still wants to be the city lord of Yueluo.

Yueluo...

What is Wei Zhao scheming?

No matter what his action will be,

I have to make an effort to retrieve what belongs to Pei Clan.

Wei Zhao and Lu Yu, this is truly a lose-lose situation, Your Lordship.

Do you have a plan?

We can stir something up between Sanlang and Lu Yu, and make them fight each other.

When that happens, whether it's borrowing Lu Yu's influence to get what I want,

or leveraging Sanlang's strength to bring Lu Yu back,

both are beneficial to me.

This is killing two birds with one stone. Your Lordship, that's brilliant.

[Liangzhou]

How do you have no sense of mutual understanding at all?

Where was this night owl from, disturbing my peaceful dreams without even knocking?

Why would an owl knock on a door?

Let me show you something.

What is it?

Nice things are mysterious.

Alright.

Let's go.

Watch out for steps.

We're here.

You may take that off.

♫ The slanting sun ray refuses to leave ♫

♫ The moon is fading off ♫

It was you who carved this word?

It was you who repaired this swing?

♫ Who can meet again? ♫

♫ Looking at the mountains far away and seeing everything red ♫

♫ ♫

Are you crying?

- No. - Let me see.

- No. - I don't believe you, let me see.

- I'm really not. - Show me.

I said no. ♫ ♫

♫ ♫

I won't stare at you, I'll just push you.

I'll just push you. ♫ ♫

♫ Amidst the wind, I suddenly look back ♫

♫ The face that feels so dear to me ♫

♫ Where are you now? ♫

♫ Back then, the road seemed ordinary ♫

♫ Looking back, it seems like a dream ♫

♫ Don't forget each other even if we're far apart ♫

♫ Don't waste time ♫

♫ Back then, the road seemed ordinary ♫

♫ Taste all the vicissitudes of life in a flash ♫

Shameless Cat, just do whatever you want to.

It's your turn to push me now.

Where are you going?

Didn't you say that I can just do whatever I want to?

Hello. Have you seen a Liangzhou woman in her forties?

- No. - Hi, have you met a woman with curved brows?

Hi, have you seen a Liangzhou woman in her forties?

Have you seen a woman with curved brows?

Hello, have you seen a Liangzhou woman in her forties?

- Hello, may I ask if you met this person? - I've not seen her.

Have you ever seen a Liangzhou woman with curved brows in her forties? - No.

- Hi, have you seen a woman with thin and curved brows? - No.

This is a very important letter. Please be sure to send it to Jiang Village.

Don't worry, Miss.

Thank you.

Jiang Ci, let's go.

Why did you think of writing a letter to your master?

What if I get sidetracked from her?

I'm sending a letter back just in case.

She won't worry if she knows I'm safe.

Let's go. Keep looking.

Sir, we might as well prepare two plans, and use that girl's name to draw the Yans out.

Amidst the chaos, we can also escape.

No,

we have to do them one by one.

Lure the spy first.

Noted.

- What's wrong? - Nothing.

I just went out for a walk.

My master must be looking for me everywhere now.

It's getting colder, if her leg's condition attacks again, there will be no one to give her a massage.

Come, I'll take you somewhere.

Sir, can I have your order?

Get us all your signature dishes.

He is not short of money.

- Sure. - Two servings of Bitterless Congee, please.

Are you not from Yueluo?

We are, but we just came back recently.

- We don't serve Bitterless Congee here. - Why not?

No means no.

Just order something else or leave now.

Stop disrupting my business.

We'll have eggs instead, then.

Forget it, let's go to another place.

Go, then. We don't sell Bitterless Congee here.

Yueluo is huge, why isn't Bitterless Congee available?

It's fine, let's go get something else.

Lingjiu Flower is in Mingyue Valley, I'll take you to find it.

This is exactly the same as what was written in Yueluo Guide.

Mingyue Valley is right in front.

What's wrong?

I have a stomach ache. We should go back first.

Let's go.

Mountains and rivers of Zhenyuan and Ningbian endure forever!

Mountains and rivers of Zhenyuan and Ningbian endure forever!

Mountains and rivers of Zhenyuan and Ningbian endure forever!

Greetings, General Lu.

I have heard about Zhenyuan Army for a long time.

Seeing it today, it truly exudes an impressive aura.

Pei Yan, I know very well the reason you came here this time.

I came here because of the military reform.

Your memorial is aimed at handing over my Zhenyuan army to others.

General Lu, you are right.

After the reform, the deployment of troops and allocation of salaries will follow the unified planning of the court.

That depends on the rules and the current situation.

Rules are set by His Majesty, and the situation is made by people.

Pei Yan, you handed me the account book earlier,

and you are now taking control of the military reform.

You have repeatedly caused issues for me.

Aren't you afraid that I might kill you?

I feel ashamed regarding the matter of the account book.

I will certainly apologize to you.

How about I prepare a feast and invite Sanlang, too?

General Lu, I kindly ask for your participation.

Is Wei Zhao in Liangzhou, too?

Hasn't Sanlang come to visit?

There must be some delays.

What are all of you doing?

Wei Zhao is here in Liangzhou, yet none of you knows?

General Lu, please calm down.

Wei Zhao must have come to investigate me on the orders of Xie Che.

Get your men to be more alert.

Lead a team to search for Wei Zhao's whereabouts both inside and outside the city.

- Yes, General. - Get lost.

Everything was as expected by Lord Pei. General Lu has his attention set on Wei Zhao.

Send someone to Yueluo to find out Wei Zhao's whereabouts.

Yes, Your Lordship.

Remember to look for Ci, too.

Bring her back immediately if you find her.

- Yes, Your Lordship. - Remember, never ever hurt her.

Is your stomach still hurting?

No.

Let's go, I'll take you to find Lingjiu Flower.

It's fine.

I'm not in a rush anyway.

Haven't you been very busy recently?

Let's search for them again when you're less occupied.

Fine.

Yu Lian, I'd like to ask about Mingyue Valley.

You have seen it.

With the ongoing war, Yueluo is trapped between Liang and Wei State, caught in a precarious situation.

Coupled with Lu Yu's rampant slaughter, Mingyue Valley has already become a mass grave.

No Lingjiu Flowers can be grown on mass graves.

Hence, Bitterless Congee has become extinct.

Father.

Mother.

Xiu.

Ying.

I'm here to see you.

I've been well.

Do not worry about me down there.

I miss you so much.

♫ The place where the moon sets ♫

♫ Must be where home is ♫

♫ As melancholic as the layers of sand ♫

♫ The rain pours as if it's weeping ♫

♫ The long goose has nowhere to land ♫

♫ Drinking with the moon with a cup of sorrow ♫

You saw.

You already found out that day.

Why didn't you let me see it?

My heart feels sorrow when I see it although I'm just an outsider.

Let alone you.

I...

How do you know I'm not an outsider?

♫ ♫

Yu Lian told me that Yueluo tolls the bell every full moon.

It was originally to commemorate the dead, but it has now turned into a prayer,

to pray for those who have left home but have not returned to be safe and happy.

Yueluo is just a small town caught between two big states.

There is never a choice, so this is inevitable.

I wanted to learn how to play this for you, but I've only heard it once.

I will find Lingjiu Flowers.

I've already searched for it.

It has become extinct.

Humans think plants are weak, and can be trampled at will.

However, all plants have souls, and they have vitality stronger than that of humans.

If Lingjiu Flowers can grow beside coffins, and survive for years,

I choose to believe that it won't allow itself to die so easily.

Even if the flowers are extinct, there will still be seeds.

I won't be here in a few days, you should follow Yu Lian instead of running around.

Will you be in danger?

Those who can hurt me...

This is for you.

♫ ♫

Is this the one that hurt me?

Use it for self-defense.

I never expected that one day, the thing that hurt me could also protect me.

The world is unpredictable, and people's hearts are easily swayed.

♫ Let it fly with the wind into sweet dreams ♫

♫ The beautiful moments we shared ♫

♫ Last through time, we never leave each other ♫

I bought it two days ago.

There is not much left. You should come back early.

I will.

♫ Bound to each other ♫

♫ Like flowing water, love and hate continue ♫

♫ I only wish For your unwavering heart ♫

♫ ♫

Just do whatever you want to do.

♫ Time cannot separate us ♫

♫ Our longings go on ♫

Young Master,

I really can't understand why would you keep the jade hairpin with that girl.

I have to show up in person, so I can't have the jade hairpin with me.

I'll let her have it for now.

That is such an important object, and you're letting her have it?

What if she betrays you?

What do we do then?

Tell Yu Lian to take care of them, and don't make any more mistakes.

Stop showing her attitude either.

Any news from Qingkang?

Pei Yan submitted a memorial to His Majesty regarding the military reform and His Majesty asked him to head to Liangzhou.

According to this timing, he should have arrived at Luying.

With him coming like this, it's hard to guarantee that he won't interfere, and create complications.

I still have his account book with me, so he wouldn't dare to confront me openly for now.

Just be cautious.

Yes.

He is gone.

Do you know where can I find Lingjiu Flowers other than Mingyue Valley?

Why are you asking this?

I want to grow Lingjiu Flowers.

Very arrogant.

Do you know the answer?

Just tell me.

Just tell her already.

I don't want to be annoyed to death by her these days.

There's no point telling her.

Mingyue Valley is often blown by the west wind, and to the east is Guxing Peak.

There is a possibility that the seeds would be blown there.

Guxing Peak's terrain is steep and perilous, and you wouldn't be able to hike it.

How do you know that if I don't try?

Are you actually going to show up?

Luring the snake out of its hole is the fastest way.

That is too dangerous.

I was the one who dragged you into this in the first place.

If you get exposed because of this, well...

I want all the people in Yueluo to witness the day I avenge my father's injustice.
