[My Wife is A Thief]

[Episode 18]

[The Ministry of Justice]

Mrs. Xu,

make it quick.

Don't make things difficult for me.

-Mother. -My son.

I'm fine.

How did you get in?

I asked His Majesty for mercy.

Who set such a vicious trap?

Who wants to harm you?

Mother.

A clean hand wants no washing.

His Majesty will find out the truth

and clear my name.

A clean hand wants no washing.

But there are many people wronged in this world.

Mrs. Xu,

it's almost time.

You are my life.

Even if I have to risk my life...

Mother,

don't worry.

I want to talk to her.

The couple want to say something private.

Fine, make it quick.

I'm sorry.

Don't say that.

This has nothing to do with you.

Actually...

Young Madam,

you'd better hurry up.

Don't make things difficult for us.

Actually...

Listen to me.

Keep this.

This is...

This was left by my father.

I've hidden it in the Zichen Department the whole time.

This time, I was framed for treason.

The mastermind is extremely vicious.

He wants me dead.

This jade pendant

is my most cherished item all these years.

If I...

Keep it for me.

I don't want it. Keep it yourself.

This jade pendant is so important to you.

Why are you giving it to me?

Honey,

did I ever tell you...

Young Madam,

someone is coming.

Hurry up.

Got it.

You just said...

Young Madam.

Leave.

Leave.

Young Madam.

I like you.

I've got the jade pendant.

But so what?

If getting the jade pendant is at the cost of his life,

I'd rather never complete this mission.

Rong,

don't forget who you really are.

You're not Su Jinzhen.

Marrying into Xu's Mansion is just expediency.

You will come back sooner or later.

Don't really fall in love with him.

This jade pendant

is my most cherished item all these years.

If I...

Keep it for me.

Mother,

you go back with Xiao Qiu and Xiao Dong first.

I'll go buy some food.

The secret mark was carved by someone unfamiliar with it.

I think he made it on purpose to imitate Watermill.

It's blood.

Could it be that he accidentally hurt his hand?

When I first learned to carve Watermill's mark,

the finger pulp of my middle finger was the easiest to get cut.

[Su's Residence]

[Xu's Mansion]

[Xu's Mansion]

[Xu's Mansion]

According to

the emperor's edict,

Xu Muchen of the Zichen Department colluded with the enemy and betrayed the country.

His whole clan should be executed according to the law.

But for the sake of Princess Anping,

[Xu's Mansion]

everyone in the Xu family will be pardoned.

I'm the young madam of the Xu family.

Only the criminal, Xu Muchen,

will be beheaded tomorrow noon

as a warning to others.

Respect this.

Accept the edict.

-Old Madam! -Old Madam!

-Old Madam! -Old Madam!

Hurry. Help her up.

Hurry!

Executed?

No.

There must be other clues.

I must save him.

I know your whereabouts.

If you act on your own again,

you'll be expelled from Watermill.

[The man surnamed Hu killed my brother. I must take revenge. Don't worry.]

Why does this handwriting look so familiar?

[The man surnamed Hu killed my brother. I must take revenge. Don't worry.]

Does Master have something

to do with Lord Hu's death?

[Recluse with Widespread Reputation]

Rong.

So? Have you figured it out?

Do you want a divorce?

Xu Muchen will be executed tomorrow.

How is that possible?

I just...

Come here.

It's not easy to carve Watermill's mark.

It would always hurt our hands.

In the final step of carving it,

it's particularly common to cut our fingers.

I practiced it every day,

so I have this scar.

His scar is still new.

He's a beginner, right?

Rong,

what are you talking about?

I don't understand.

You may leave.

Yes, Young Master.

Why did you do this?

Why did you lie to me?

Why did you use me?

Why did you harm Xu Muchen?

You are Jinning.

Yes.

I'm your Brother Jinning.

Xu Muchen is your husband,

right?

Didn't you say you married into the Xu family

just to complete the mission?

Didn't you say

you would divorce him?

Let me ask you.

When can you complete your mission?

Have you ever thought about divorcing him?

Rong,

I have cared about you and protected you

for ten years.

I watched you grow up

from a little girl.

I've been waiting for you to marry me,

you know?

I want to ask you.

Why?

Why did you fall in love with Xu Muchen

instead of me?

What exactly makes him better than me?

Brother Jinning.

Don't call me Brother!

Su Jinzhen is my sister.

You're just a substitute.

So is this

why you want to kill Xu Muchen?

I just...

Whether I like Xu Muchen or not,

this is not your reason

for killing others.

Su Jinning,

how did you become like this?

Do you think

I really want to kill him?

Okay then.

Goodbye.

is just for stealing the jade pendant.

Me too.

Honey,

this matter concerns the country.

I can't stay out of it.

But the enemy hides in shadows, while you are in the light.

If anything happens to you,

what should Chen and I do?

How could there be unbroken eggs

under a toppled nest?

Honey,

I'm doing this

to protect you two

and our family.

All right.

Honey, don't worry.

I will bring the mastermind to justice

before they even notice.

Don't worry.

You'll be executed tomorrow.

You still won't plead guilty?

The spy from the Yue State

has told me everything.

Do you believe him?

I only believe solid evidence.

The evidence was found in your house,

and the witness has confessed.

Then why are you asking me?

Xu Muchen,

you know I don't like you.

I know.

Because of my father.

Because I'm always one step ahead of you.

But I've never blamed you.

Because what we do

is for the country

and the people.

You are the son of a sinner.

You are condemned by everyone,

but you are still proudly annoying.

Now you're a sinner,

but you are still so self-confident.

I'm impressed.

Because I'm not guilty.

I've told the Ministry of Justice.

They won't make you feel any pain.

Thanks.

Xu Muchen,

what should I do?

Lord Gu,

Lord Xu would never collude with the enemy or betray the country.

He is the most devoted to the country.

-That's right. -That's right.

That's right.

Gongyang Maocai framed him.

He has always hated Lord Xu.

Lord Gu,

we're going to save him.

-Yes. -Save him.

Lord Gu, just let us go.

Lord Gu.

Stay

in the Zichen Department.

Don't go anywhere.

I'm going to see His Majesty

and ask for mercy for your Lord Xu.

Thank you, Lord Gu.

[Avoid]

What time is it?

Why hasn't the execution been carried out?

Execute him now.

Who is that person?

In broad daylight...

[Diligence Hall]

His Majesty said

he already showed mercy

considering what your husband did back then.

Now Lord Xu made such a big mistake,

but he still hasn't implicated you.

He has shown extreme forbearance.

Is there any difference

between what's happening now

and what happened to my husband?

Your Majesty,

Chengsi is innocent.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, Chengsi is innocent.

Your Majesty.

Chengsi is innocent.

He has devoted himself to the country and the people.

He would never get involved in corruption.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

Please investigate it.

Please further investigate it.

Princess,

Lord Xu is guilty of corruption and bribery.

The evidence is solid.

He committed such a serious crime,

but His Majesty still pardoned you and your son.

He has already shown extreme forbearance.

Stop being unreasonable here.

Go back.

Your Majesty.

Chengsi is innocent.

Your Majesty,

please further investigate it.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

Why haven't they carried out the execution yet?

My Lord,

it's time

for the execution.

Just kill him.

Ready to execute him.

What are you doing?

I'm going to save him.

Do you want to die?

You want to save him alone.

Do you want to die for a man?

Why haven't they done it yet?

My Lord.

[Avoid]

It's time for the execution.

Execute him.

Execute him.

Kill this traitor!

Kill him!

Execute him.

What are you waiting for?

Traitor!

He betrayed the country and deserves to die.

Lord Gongyang,

I'm going to say it again.

It's time.

Order them to execute him.

[Behead]

Kill him! Kill him!

Kill him! Kill him!

Gongyang Maocai,

this is my last warning.

It's time.

[Avoid]

There's an assassin.

[Avoid]

There's an assassin.

Protect the criminal!

There's an assassin.

Calm down.

Stop!

An imperial edict is here.

According to the emperor's edict,

in the case of the Ministry of War's stolen map,

there is a new witness now.

The treason of Xu Muchen, Governor of the Zichen Department,

is not true.

Thus, he has been pardoned from the death penalty.

The Zichen Department shall investigate this case thoroughly.

Xu Muchen shall atone for his crime.

Respect this.

Got it.

My Lord.

My Lord, you've suffered.

Let's go. Let me send you back.

My Lord, be careful.

Watch the steps.

Mrs. Xu,

my master wants to see you.

Mrs. Xu.

Lord Liu, you asked me here...

Xu Muchen was almost beheaded in public.

It made you worried.

This has something to do with us.

I invited you here

to specially apologize to you.

Yes.

My son

is loyal and diligent.

But in the end, he was accused of treason.

Lord Liu, are you familiar with this trick?

Someone powerful

has confused right and wrong.

All these years, I've been worried every day.

But it still happened.

You're still investigating

Chengsi's case, right?

Why?

Why can't you just give up?

I've already given up.

As long as the case's mastermind

is not brought to justice,

Chengsi's name can't be cleared

and it will be a hidden problem

to the court and the country.

Mrs. Xu,

we will do our best

and be cautious.

Back then, how many people died

in order to find out the truth?

Some were assassinated

and some were wronged.

I'm scared.

I really am scared.

I just want to be with my son

and keep him safe.

But he just wouldn't listen.

He insisted on getting involved.

Look at him now.

He almost lost his life.

Mrs. Xu,

even if... even if we give up,

do you think the mastermind

will let Muchen go?

You're back.

Did you ask His Majesty for the imperial edict?

I'm asking you.

Yes.

Anyway, he is Zhen's husband now.

The crime of treason

will inevitably implicate us.

You don't want our family to be implicated.

You've become more sensible.

But have you thought about it?

This

can make Liu Rong divorce him.

I do want them to divorce,

but I really don't intend to kill him.

You're too soft-hearted.

How can you be successful in the future?

Father,

I want to ask you something.

What you gave me is Lord Chen's file.

Why did it turn out to be the map?

[The Ministry of Justice]

The case handling process of the Ministry of Justice

is really complicated.

His Majesty has issued an edict,

but it still consumed much of our time.

My Lord.

-Watch the steps. -The wound on your back

still hasn't fully healed,

but you suffered again in prison.

I'm fine.

Right, Lord Gu,

have you caught the person who stole the map?

Not yet.

Then why did His Majesty...

Turn yourself in?

Yes.

Jinning,

don't joke with me.

Xu Muchen

is accused of treason.

This is not a trivial matter.

I don't know about the treason.

Xu Muchen has been mean to my sister,

so I asked a servant to imitate Willow Leaf Thief Liu's mark.

I asked him to make a box and hide it in Xu's Mansion.

I just wanted Xu Muchen to suffer in prison

by accusing him of colluding with Willow Leaf Thief Liu.

I didn't expect

that someone put the map in the box.

The new wound on the servant's finger

was left when he carved the mark.

My Lord,

I only carved the box

and put it among those gifts.

I really don't know about the map.

My Lord,

please investigate it thoroughly.

If that is the case,

since someone has taken the map,

he'll need to get it out of the city.

Place the capital under lockdown now

and search carefully.

[The Ministry of Justice]

Don't worry, Lord Xu.

The Ministry of Justice has dispatched all men

to guard the important roads in the capital.

Even a mosquito can't get out.

Lord Gongyang,

I think His Majesty

ordered the Zichen Department

to handle the map's case.

The map's case concerns the country's safety.

Of course the Ministry of Justice can't sit by.

The Ministry of Justice is less capable

than the Zichen Department in case handling.

Now you want to take the credit.

Back then, I put you in prison

because I had solid evidence.

Now that we have a new clue,

I'm willing

to cooperate with the Zichen Department to investigate it.

[Elegant Residence in Spring Sunshine]

♫Tears fall like stars at that moment♫

almost scared me to death.

♫We're strangers, but we're on different sides♫

The blade

was almost dropped onto your neck.

But...

♫Amidst the tumult of life's fireworks♫

But it's good that you're back safely.

♫I'll land on your heart even if I have to keep circling♫

Wipe your face.

♫Who made an honest mistake?♫

♫The world is painful♫

♫Without you, what's the point of having the world in my hands?♫

♫How long until we meet again?♫

♫I'd rather spend the rest of my life with you♫

It's good that you're back safely.

♫The sea of love is too desolate♫

Sorry that I made you worried.

I'm going to get the medicine for you.

I married into the Xu family

for this jade pendant.

Now I have it,

but what should I do?

Didn't you say you went to get me the medicine?

Why are you spacing out here?

What's wrong?

Since you're back safely,

I'm giving this back to you.

This is something left by your father.

To you,

it must be more important than your life.

Indeed, it is more important than my life.

So I can only feel relieved

when it's in your hands.

Don't move.

Let me hold you for a while.
