Death in Saalbach

I’ll get out and guide you in ~No, no, stay put, I can do that~

The vacation is starting off well

[Skischool]

How is this happening?

Look at that, these people running over the street like blind chickens

Dear Franz Danner

With pride and joy

In these last few years

We have watched your rise to the world class of Alpine sports~Look Sweetheart it’s Danner~

Set down...~The who?~

The Ski runner

Your success made its way into the sports world press newspaper

Thats why dear Franzl...

We feel very honoured

You here...

At your hometown in Saalbach

Where you opened a new ski school

What do we do now?

Drive backwards then

Drive backwards...there

Well how is it?

The ski suit is too small

Karin wait a moment

Ernst, are you done soon?

It’s not that easy

Come on don't be silly

The stupid Ski suit is too tight

There is the ski

I've got it

Everything okay?

Ernst?

Oh no

Yes

Hello, Gendarmerie post Saalbach?

Yes very good

District Inspector Stockinger

Country Gendarmerie Command Salzburg here

I would be really good if you could come here

I have found a body here

Help comes here too late

You don’t say...

At the first impression I would say heart attack

And then frozen to death

When approximately

Probably yesterday early evening

Can you tell me how the blood got on the gloves?

I couldn’t discover any external injuries

This is a big loss for us

Legerer was loved by many

What was Legerer doing around here?

The Hotel Rupert and a few other things in the valley

Is the Ski suit too tight?

Will you excuse me, District Inspector

I’m Alex Gruber

Happy to meet you, I’m Stockinger Ernst ~I think this would interest you~ What?

Simon threatened to kill Mr Legerer a few days ago

Who is Simon? ~Simon?~

You can’t do anything right for him

Hands and feet, he was fighting back progress in the valley

If it was for him he would tear down all the ski lifts and send home the tourists

Lets bring him down ~Well then...~

How do you do it Stockinger?

That even when you’re on vacation you stumble over bodies?

You magically attract violence

Are you sure that this is another one of your heinous crimes that’s happening?

Why my heinous crime?

I didn’t kill anyone

Doesn’t matter, the victim was threatened a few days ago

And on his glove are traces of dried up blood

Well, where there is a will...

So be it

Dig into the abyss of the soul

But please do it discreetly

I will Mr Councillor, I will

Bye

Karin

Karin?

Ah, can I come with you?

Say are you insane?

You will pay for that door

Where do you think you are? ~At Mr Simon’s, right?

You should put some sand down at your yard entrance

Did you know 70% of all accidents happen in your own four walls?

That will be soon 71%

Calm down Mr Simon

My workplace has good insurance since I started working for them

Look at this

I will fill out this damage report

And you will get a beautiful new barn door

So, who are you anyways

Are you from Legerer

Its how you take it

We found Legerer's body this morning

District Inspector Stockinger

Country Gendarmerie Command Salzburg

What?

Legerer is dead? ~Like a mouse~

What do you wan’t to hear from me?

That I’m sad or what?

I take it from your words that you were no special friend of Mr Legerer's

Dear Lord no

He wanted to ruin the whole valley with his Ski runs

The slopes have all been cleared of trees

The mountain will slide someday into the valley but no one is saying anything

Because everyone is getting paid off ~Who is everyone?~

Everyone, half of the town

They all cover for each other

Legerer was on the supervisory board of the Lift company

When he heard

That they open up a hill for Lift construction

He would then try to buy the property

With all means

And then he would sell for top prices back to the board

See inspector, that how they run things here

He also tried it with you

The Bank all of a sudden wanted...

All the credit to be paid back suddenly

And Legerer waited, so he could get the place only for the price of a buttered bread

You know that from TV already

Where were you around the time ...

Lets say late afternoon until early evening

Oh...

I was in Salzburg for a new credit

When was that?

Around half past four

I still had to pick up money from the bank

They were about to close, thats why I remember

Half past four

When did you come back?

Sometimes that evening~What time~

Well seven ,eighth

Yes thats true

It took you quite some time to get from Salzburg to Saalbach

It was snowing, I was sliding more than driving

And when its slippery...

You have to drive slower

I can believe you on that Mr Simon

Or not

I was not the only one

Who considered Lederer as a thorn in the eye

And now get lost

Yes I’m leaving

First, check Simon’s alibi

Second...

Write up a damage report for a wooden barn door

Third...

Goodbye

Don't spend too much time ~I can’t promise that~

I don’t know, please

You will forget him ~Just leave me a little bit of time~

Mrs Legerer?

District Inspector Stockinger

Country Gendarmerie Command Salzburg

They have informed me already ~My condolences Mrs Legerer~

I know I’m coming at a bad time, but I wanted to talk to you anyways

I was about to leave

You can call me anytime

All right

A relative?

That is Matthias Kronreif, the district ranger

Ah I see

Lets go into the office?

Please

Please sit down ~Thanks~

I’m sorry...

I'm totally confused, but I’m sure you’ll understand

Yes yes of course

Mrs Legerer I still have to ask you some questions about the death of your husband

Yes but why?

I mean, what does the gendarmerie have to do with my husbands death?

You don’t have to answer my questions

But it would be very helpful

Then ask please

Didn’t you wonder why your husband was out so late

My husband was often gone overnight

We have a cabin up on the mountain where he would sleep after his trips

Where were you yesterday afternoon, early evening Mrs Legerer

Here

What is that question

Are you implying that...

I’m not implying anything

It is much too early

I’m only asking questions

I was in the hotel all the time

Here in the office

Did your husband have any enemies?

Not really, he was well liked

Yes, yes I heard of that

But there are a few who were not happy about him

Well

I certainly only know of one

Mr Simon

Simon

And what’s with district ranger Kronreif?

As I heard there was trouble between him and your husband

Did Simon tell you that

It’s true

Rupert, my husband and Matthias often got into fights

But I know Matthias, that can't be, he is not capable of that

How well do you know Mr Kronreif

Him, I know well

We were once engaged

Murder case Legerer

First

A slightly radical organic farmer that plays the big bad wolf

But maybe he is only a sheep in a wolf’s clothing

Second

A noble widow that smells like a thousand and one nights

Which, third...

Which thirdly...

Whats wrong

What’s happening

Stockinger~Hey hello Stocki~

Ah, hello Antonella, whats up?

Well how is vacation?

Listen, at the autopsy in Salzburg they found out that Legerer died of heart fibrillation

Heart fibrillation?

Yes

No traces of external use of force

Death occurred at around...

17 Pm to 18 Pm

But they can’t be accurate because of the cold ~All right ~

I’m sure Legerer didn’t die just like that

He was helped with dying, believe me

What’s with Simon’s alibi?

He was in Salzburg, that’s true

He also withdrew money at the bank

The employee

Said he couldn’t remember the time, it could also have been at three

That means he had time until 17 PM, from Salzburg to Saalbach

That might fit

Antonella?

Well, and now to you

I just bought you new batteries, what else do you want from me

Good evening master

See that car out there? ~What did you say...a car?~ Until when can you repair that? ~Repair?~

No idea

Then I’ll tell you...the day after tomorrow

What?

Look, I don’t have my badge with me but I'm a detective

This car is a part of official investigations into a murder case

The car itself looks like a murder case

For this I need at least until... ~Day after tomorrow~

Right, and don't tell me you can’t do it

I asked about you

You are an artist in your field ~ But not a wizard~

Sim sala bim

Yes hello Antonella its me

No I don’t have time for your stories

Listen, the alibi of Simon...

Please go to the bank tomorrow and let them show you the video surveillance

There is the time stamp on it

Then we can see if Mr Simon was really there at that time

You like to do that for me, thanks, bye

Hello?

Yes I will do that

I also have a surprise for you

Hello?

Mr Kronreif ?

This is better

Mr Inspector

District Inspector, much better

Are you a good shot Mr Kronreif ?

For my profession it is good enough

Do you play chess? ~No thanks, I’m on duty~

But it is a nice game they say

Yes Mr Kronreif

I was in the area by chance

So I thought I drop in for a moment

How was your relationship to Mr Legerer?

We didn’t have much to do with each other

I heard that he wanted to build a golf course in your beautiful area

And that you stopped that

After that, he wanted to take away the forester's office from you

Is that true?

The forest belongs to the federal government

Legerer wouldn't be able to do anything

But we both know how it goes when you have good connections

Back then you were engaged to the now Mrs Legerer

Thats a long time ago

But old love never dies...thats the impression I got yesterday

That was just a pure friendly visit ~Yes yes the friendship~

Where were you between 17 Pm to 18 Pm the day before yesterday

At home

I did the accounting

I always do accounting on Fridays ~And you were alone I assume~

I thought so... By the way Mr Kronreif

Your Queen is threatened by a rook

It's me

That Inspector was just here

We have to meet tonight

No, not tomorrow, tonight!

I’m warning you, I won't be taken for a fool

You know what your'e risking

Look who it is

Where ~Over there, Danner~

What Danner?

Ernst

Bring to us three vodka's please

Oh I remember, the slalom expert

Second

A noble widow that smells like a thousand and one nights

Which third....

Which third, covers for a love lorn ranger

Who thinks that...

She should forget her husband

End

Look at that, here she is

Over there Mrs Legerer

What Legerer

The widow of the dead man that we found

The griving widow doesn’t really look like she is grieving

What is she doing here? ~The bar belongs to her~

I understand

Than this magical invitation here is just a working lunch that you can deduct taxes for

Yes

No, no, no, no...I didn’t know she was coming here

That is pure coincidence

Two mulled wine please

Get lost...or he will escape you

Mr Danner?

Yes?

I’m sorry that I catch you like this

My wife is a fan of yours

And I would like to give great pleasure

If I could have your autograph

Here...that is very nice of you

Maybe write...for Karin. That’s my wife

Thanks

I have not introduced myself, my name is Stockinger ~My pleasure~ Ernst Stockinger

District Inspector Ernst Stockinger Country Gendarmerie Command Salzburg

I’m working on the murder case Legerer

Murder? ~Yes~

You call it murder in circumstances where one human kills another deliberately

Thats how it is

How was your relationship to the dead man

Friendly I would say

Friendly...

Rupert always supported me, he...

He was like a second father

And your relationship to Mrs Legerer?

I appreciate Mrs Legerer

Don’t say that she is like a second mother to you

No she is a very good acquaintance ~Good acquaintance Ah~

Do you have further questions? I still have things to do

Mr Danner

Goodbye

Bye

Hello Stocki

I am spared nothing

Hello Michael

What are you doing here?

I took a time compensation

Time compensation?

For what?

So I can be near you ~Ah~

You were near me, now you can go again

Greetings to Saint Gilgen, bye ~Just wait Stocki~

I just want to help you ~Help?~

Me? With what?

Brunner told me you stumbled into another murder case

Maybe four eyes are more than two

I’m ready for anything ~What is all that stuff you have with you?~

That is a metal detector

Nothing stays hidden with this, come with me

Quick

Come on in ~Yes~

Geez

I feel like I’m in a James Bond film

It's not my fault the murder scene is way up there

What are we looking for exactly here?

I don’t know

But it has to be here ~If something is here...~

Then we will find it with this machine

Well I'm curious

There you go

Found it

What did I drag this machine here for?

You have such luck

Whats wrong with you, are you angry?

Yes Antonella it’s me, listen...

Call the forensics immediately

They should examine Legerer very carefully

He should have a small puncture from an injection dart

I found an injection dart

Legerer should have a puncture somewhere and they should find it

Please, yes, thank you, you’re a sweetheart, bye

Lets go

Whats going on now?

We're stopped

They wouldn’t have forgotten about us?

Well do something...right?

H A L L O O O

Wait

No that’s me

All right

Thats 0 6 1 ...no

0 5 3 ~Just give it to me~

There is...Ah

Very good

We are done

Good night

You are crazy

I’m not staying up here

When will you stop with the hide and seek?

It won’t work, I don’t want anyone to see us together

Rupert just died ~Died?~

I want you back Christine

Be nice Matthias

Be nice, yes?

Come

Will you call me? ~Yes I’ll call you~

That is an assassination

Just like James Bond

Just leave me alone with that stupid James Bond

Something is coming

What are you doing with that...read?

Yes thats right…read

Cool

I wouldn’t have thought of that Stocki

So, now you get that sect drama from Hallein off the table

Stockinger is sitting on my neck with the heart fibrillation case

Maybe he is right and it is really murder

Ernst?

It’s all right

Your colleague just switched to winter hibernation

I see that more often when people cool down a-lot

He gets a shot of 100 mg of adrenaline in liquid form and he’ll wake right up

You just have watch the dose, if its too high it will give you cardiac arrhythmias

And they could, in extreme cases, stop your heart

Is that like heart fibrillation

That is heart fibrillation

You know everything already

Look the shot is working already

Now he needs lots of warmth

I have to go back to Salzburg again

Now in your condition?

I take Michaels car...bye

You're lucky I’m still here

The luck is on your side doctor

I would have had to get you out of bed

You would, Stockinger

What is that? ~Where?~

Right there

Indeed

Could that be the injection site?

We will see right away

You’re right Stockinger

About a 3 cm deep puncture like from a ...~Something like this?~

An injection dart

I take it Legerer died from an overdose of adrenaline

I understand, and now you want to know if this injection dart contains adrenaline

If it doesn't cause any trouble

I have a question before I start ~Please~

When do you have vacation?

I am on vacation

What you have vacation?

And why do I constantly do overtime?

I’ll wait for it if you don’t mind

Actually I imagined our vacation a bit differently

Yes I know and I’m truly sorry but...

Next time we go to the Caribbean, I promise you

I’m sure you find a body somewhere in Martinique

Good day master

Today is the day after tomorrow, how is my car ~As good as new~

I’m done in five minutes, can you still hang on that long?

I can master, I can

Apropos can...

Hello

Can I use the phone for a short time? ~You can, the phone is there~

Thanks

Yes hello Antonella it’s me

Is there something new with Simon’s alibi?

That would be it, that’s right

No in that time he would never have made it to Saalbach

At least one less

By the way, Legerer died of an overdose of adrenaline

Subcutaneously administered with a dart gun

Now your'e looking

You don’t know how nice it was to get the spare parts~That was a definite murder~

Ernst? ~Look I have to go~

Yes I'll tell her, greetings to you bye

Greetings from...

What is that?

Well, I didn’t have time for spray painting

But it looks a bit funny

Oh...It looks funny to you?

If I have to paint this it will take another two days, excuse me

It's all right

All right?

What should I do? I need the car

We can paint it ourselves. A brush and some paint and it will look like new

Then you better leave it like it is

We will talk about it later

I'll bring you to the lift, pay the repairs and pick you up at five again

If nothing intervenes

I have to go I’m with the mountain rescue Our district ranger fell off the mountain ~You mean Mr Kronreif?

Country Gendarmerie Command Salzburg, I have to come with you

Lets take my car, you can read that while driving

Oh what happened here?

Well I thought you still might need that

Ah...Karin?

Would it matter if you took a taxi?

Just drive

Can we get through here? It's a wonder that he is still alive

He was lucky

The trees softened the impact

But he is completely hypothermic

Thank you, that would be good for now

Go

Rex !

Come here

Richard? ~No I’m Alois~

Thats what people from the mountain rescue found near the place of the fall

Thank you for the finger prints

Hello here is Mitterer leader ,the injured was recovered and we will be right down

Yes understood, the ambulance has been notified

Thank you, understood

What is Kronreif doing in the middle of the night with a tranquilizer gun?

Maybe he wanted to dump it

Or someone wants to convince us

Thanks ~Where is Mrs Legerer?~

I’m sorry she is not in the house ~Where is she?~

Drove to Salzburg to get ready for the funeral ~Funeral~

Stop right there...~Country Gendarmerie Command Salzburg I have to see Kronreif~

What’s happening? ~Not now~ ~Further animation one two three four defib~

Shot

And you didn’t see anything?

Heard nothing

And you didn't notice anything unusual

I already told you

I went to see if Mr Kronreif was all right and the hose was pulled off

And that couldn’t have happen accidentally

Impossible

You said you left for less then two minutes

Which means it happened in a very short time

Please try to remember clearly

When you came back in the room what did you see

Thats right

There was something

Yes, as I...

Came to the room of Mr Kronreif...

It smelled very strong like perfume

Something oriental?

Yes, yes, yes, something...

Insistent...

Can I use a telephone around here?

Thanks

Up front, thats where it is

If Legerer was not in the hotel then she is probably in the cabin

Please put that away, someday I have a hole and nobody did it

All right

Is there a back door?

Yes back there

Yes then stand there

Good day Mrs Legerer

Are you crazy, you scared me ~The door was open~

Thats no reason to barge into my house

I'm sorry

Better this way? ~A little late~

What did you say honey?

Ah Mr Danner

What a coincidence

What are you doing here?

I could ask you the same

But I won’t do that

That is your private life

I just came from the casualty hospital

Someone tried a second time to murder Kronreif

Thats terrible~Yes thats terrible~

But Mr Kronreif luckily survived the attempt

And he told me a few thing about you two

You and Mr Danner planned the attack on your husband together

Tried it and...

Mr Danner executed the plan

As a professional athlete you knew about the side effects of adrenaline

And at good last Kronreif needed to be eliminated

Because he knew the murderers

And so you would have a scape goat

You went to Salzburg yesterday Mrs Lederer

In the casualty hospital ~That’s absurd~

Do you have any evidence?~Yes~

I have that

Mr Kronreif will attest to that

He is lying

Can’t you see?

You made a mistake Mr Danner

Mr Kronreif is shortsighted

Didn’t you know?

You forgot to adjust the lenses of the scope on the dart gun

Idiot

Need a little jump start?

It will be cold

The Danner! You left in quite a hurry

I can't tell you anymore that you are arrested

For murdering Legerer

And you Mrs Legerer I arrest you for incitement to murder of your husband

And for murder on Mr Kronreif

Why murder

I thought he was alive

No

It was a little white lie

Genius

And Insanity

Stockinger you are a player

You bluffed the question to get an admission

What if that Danner would have been innocent?

That was intuition Mr Councillor

Intuition...

Intuition

Every art

Needs its...

Intuition

Say why did this Korngreif[ hehehe] ~Kronreif~

Well whatever, why...

Did this ranger observe the murder? ~Because he followed Danner in his jealousy~

He wanted to know if Danner and Lederer were meeting in the mountain cabin

So by chance he saw the murder

After that he wanted to blackmail Lederer

He really wanted to have that woman

By any means

Like always...love and urges

Are you glad you are happily married, Stockinger?

You are spared such mistakes

Come in...~Excuse me Mr Councillor but~

There you are, I was looking all over for you

I have something, just a moment please

A moment...

Surprise

Thanks

What kind of picture is that?

That is a gift from my time in Vienna

The puzzle from my office

Mrs Simoni finished it up for me, it is a real precision work ~Hold it wait...~

Well....

As soon as you think you get one thing done

Already another challenge waits for you
