[Pierre] Steady on coast 351

we'll try another pass a little bit to the south.

There's nothing on the scope yet, Pierre.

Everything seems perfectly normal.

We must keep searching if we are to find out

what's causing the disturbances to ships in this area.

The navy and merchant marine

have been complaining for weeks of dangerous sea conditions

and unchartered currents.

Don't worry, old Super Zan is a pro when it comes to water.

[gibberish]

Looks like Gleek is getting his share

of marine experience too.

[gibberish]

[Zan laughs] Next time you ride a flying fish, Gleek

you'd better take along a parachute.

[Pierre] Zan, Jayna, come here quick.

- What is it, Pierre? - I don't know.

But we are heading straight into some sort of loud disturbance.

[device beeping]

I've never seen anything like it.

I wonder what's causing that strange gale.

Jayna, look!

[intense music]

Those storm swells just came out of nowhere.

[wind howling]

It doesn't make sense.

The naval weather service

forecast a perfect day.

Galloping galaxies!

We're headed right into a giant whirlpool!

I can't steer away from it.

[intense music]

Calling the Super Friends!

Calling the Coast Guard. Calling anybody. Help!

[male narrator] Thousands of miles away, at the Hall of Justice...

[beeping]

We're picking up an audio signal

on the Justice League TroubAlert.

[Jayna on recorder] Being sucked into giant whirlpool.

- Coordinates-- - Zan? Jayna?

What are the coordinates? Come in!

It's too late. The signal's faded.

Holy whereabouts! How are we gonna find out their location?

The Justice League computer may be able to figure it out.

I'll program it to trace the direction of the radio waves

and compute the distance by measuring

the strength of the signal.

It's working, Batman!

The computer indicates a bearing of 253 degrees.

[computer] Signal analysis complete.

Origin of radio message

is 721 miles Northeast of Honolulu.

We'll take the bat multicraft. Let's go!

[male narrator] Instantly, the Super Friends streak into action...

[dramatic music]

...arriving shortly at their destination in the Pacific.

We're at the right coordinates

but there's no sign of any disturbance.

[Wonder Woman] Not to mention, Pierre Marsel's ship and the Wonder Twins.

[intense music]

Holy waterquakes! What's happening?

It's incredible! I've never seen the sea change so rapidly.

There's what we've been looking for.

The giant whirlpool.

[Wonder Woman] But where did it come from?

[Superman] There's no time to figure it out now.

Look! Those ships are in trouble!

[dramatic music]

Splash

That second ship's on its way down.

We'll have to pull it out with the multicraft.

[Batman] Activate bat-magnetic towline!

Supercharges to full power, Batman.

[Batman] The ship's too heavy.

We're being sucked into the whirlpool.

The others are in trouble, I've got to act fast.

[intense music]

Great Scott! The multicraft can't get out of the whirlpool.

[male narrator] Moments later, miles beneath the ocean's floor

the Super Friends emerge in an unknown wonderland

that lies far below the Earth's crust.

Holy hollow planets! Where are we?

It's incredible, we're somewhere

in the unchartered center of the Earth.

That giant whirlpool must've sucked us

through a fisher in the sea floor.

We've got to start searching for

the Wonder Twins and Captain Marsel.

Right, Superman. We'll head for that nearest shore.

[dramatic music]

Vroom

It's no use, we're 10,000 miles from nowhere.

We've got to keep going. There must be another way out.

Speaking about, we're out of food and I'm starving.

[gibberish]

What's the matter, Gleek?

[Zan] There's nothing the matter with Gleek.

He just found us some lunch.

[Jayna] Those bananas should last us a while.

[growling]

[screaming]

- What is it, Gleek? - Oh, no!

It's some sort of creature, made of tar!

Hurry, we can outrun him.

[intense music]

We're surrounded!

[male narrator] Meanwhile, as the Super Friends

speed over the strange subterranean sea...

Batman, look!

It's Pierre Marsel's ship.

The ship's intact, but there's no sign

of the twins or Captain Marsel.

They must've headed into the jungle.

They could be anywhere by now.

We'll have a better chance to find them if we split up.

Right, Wonder Woman and I will head into the jungle on foot.

The rest of us will take the multicraft. Let's go.

[male narrator] Later, as Superman and Wonder Woman

search the dense jungle, Aquaman, Batman and Robin

scour a different area of the foreboding world

within the world.

There's no sign of a trail anywhere.

We'll just have to...

[growling]

Holy living fossil! A dinosaur!

[Batman] Quick! We've got activate the bat-rotors.

It's got us!

What do we do?

Our only chance is to use the bat smoke-repellent.

Boom

[Aquaman] Hurry! Let's get out of here!

[male narrator] Meanwhile, as Superman and Wonder Woman

continue still deeper toward the center of the Earth...

This cavern forks off in a dozen directions.

We'll try that cave up ahead.

It's fantastic!

I've never seen such huge plants and flowers.

[Wonder Woman] They're beautiful and such strange varieties.

There's still no sign of the twins' trail.

[Wonder Woman] We better check that pass up ahead.

- There seems to be... - Wonder Woman, look out!

Superman, I can't break lose.

[dramatic music]

Great Scott, those carnivorous plants are everywhere!

[Wonder Woman] We'll have to make a run for it!

Those aren't exactly the kind of plants I'd want in my garden.

Superman, my legs!

[intense music]

Where are we?

I have a strange feeling

we're just as lost as the Wonder Twins.

Where could they be taking us?

I hope it's not to dinner.

I think it's time for a little Wonder Twin power action.

I don't know, we can't afford any mistakes right now.

[both] Wonder Twin powers, activate!

[dramatic music]

[growling]

[Jayna] Okay, let's go!

[dramatic music]

Phew, that was the smoothest getaway we've ever made.

[intense music]

[tar bubbling]

We haven't gotten away yet!

Look!

They're flooding the cavern with tar!

[growling]

We're finished!

Jupiters! The tar's rising faster.

[gibberish]

They've got all the exits blocked.

We better think of something and fast.

[male narrator] In another strange area beneath the Earth's surface

Batman, Robin and Aquaman continue their search

for the Wonder Twins and Captain Marcel...

...unaware of the danger that has befallen them.

This river's unlike any I've ever seen.

The water's fluorescent.

That's not all, Aquaman.

Look!

[Robin] The river's flowing uphill.

It seems the gravity works a bit differently under the Earth.

[Batman] We can take the multicraft onto the shore up ahead

and check that petrified forest.

Great Gotham! What on Earth is that?

[Robin] It's a giant Jelly fish.

if it's as hard to stop as a regular jelly fish

we're in trouble.

Hang on.

We'll try to outrun it.

We're caught in the tentacles.

There's not enough power to pull free.

If there's other sea creatures in this river

I may be able to use my aquatic telepathy to help us.

I'll use the bat emergency ejection seat.

[male narrator] Using his keen underwater senses

Aquaman attempts to communicate

with the strange marine creatures.

Great Neptune! My Aquatic telepathy is working in reverse.

They're after me instead of the jelly fish.

I've only got one chance to get us out of this.

Batman, Robin, brace yourselves.

Good work, Aquaman. We owe you one.

It's no use, Superman, we're completely lost.

Let's try the emergency radio again.

Superman to Batman, can you read me?

[Wonder Woman] There must be miles

of solid rock between us.

The radio will never reach them.

There's no choice, we've got to continue searching.

[dramatic music]

An Earth tremor.

What's that doing down here?

It must be the lost city of Atlantis.

It probably fell through a fisher

like the one we came through.

Superman!

Steady, Wonder Woman. They may not attack.

These tary creatures are sticking to me.

But a little centrifugal force should handle them.

How about trying on my magic lasso for size?

It pulled right through him.

I've got an idea, Wonder Woman.

If these tar men found us, they may have found

the Wonder Twins and Captain Marcel.

Right, Superman.

If we let ourselves be captured

they may lead us to them.

[male narrator] Meanwhile, in another part

of the strange underworld civilization...

We're in luck, Aquaman.

This water is fresh, it should last us a while.

[Robin] Holy gemstones, Batman! Look at this!

There must be a million dollars worth of

diamonds, emeralds and rubies here.

I'll take some samples for geological survey data.

Oh, no!

A rock monster.

Quick! Into the multicraft!

Robin!

The Bat-sonic destabilizer will shake up that rock creature.

Hurry, Robin. Get in.

That rock monster is starting to break up.

[Batman] And so is the entire rock floor.

The earthquake's causing the ocean to pour in.

[Aquaman] It's filling the entire cavern.

Prepare to dive!

That was close, Batman.

Next time I decide to take samples

I hope I change my mind.

- That's it, Robin. Mind. - I don't get it.

[Batman] If my hunch is right I know exactly

how we can locate the Wonder Twins.

[Batman] That just about does it.

I have hooked up the Bat sonar to Aquaman

and patched it into the computer amplifier.

If I can change the frequency of Aquaman's aquatic telepathy

to that of human thought, I may be able to form a mind link

between Aquaman's and the Wonder Twin's thought waves.

Here we go.

[static]

Ah, it's not right.

We need more amplification.

It's starting to work, Batman.

I can see the twins and they're in trouble!

Quick, Robin! We've got to compute the direction

on the sonar screen.

It worked, Batman!

[Batman] Full speed, Robin.

We'll home in on the twins.

[male narrator] As the strange tar men lead Superman and Wonder Woman

deeper into the Earth...

Superman, look!

The Wonder Twins!

I think it's time we gave these tar men the slip.

It's Superman and Wonder Woman!

[gibberish]

I'll take care of the tar men, Wonder Woman.

Right. And I'll get the twins and Captain Marcel.

I'm afraid you fellows are going to take a slight detour.

Jupiters! This is what I call a sticky situation.

Hang on, I'll have you out in a minute.

You'll have to excuse me.

I've got more important things to do.

We're not out of this yet.

[intense music]

This is a job for Superman!

I went right through it and it didn't even flinch.

[growling]

Okay, you walking tar pit.

It's time to go back where you came from.

[growls]

He stopped the tar beast!

[rumbling]

But it's triggered another quake.

The cavern's breaking up.

There's no escape.

The sea water's flooding the entire area.

[gibberish]

Look!

[Zan] It's the multicraft!

Hurry! Everybody on board!

There's only seconds before the cavern fills up.

[dramatic music]

[male narrator] Later at the Hall of Justice...

Thank again, Super Friends, for rescuing us.

I only wish we could've rescued

that incredible wonderland beneath the Earth.

It was a freak of nature that allowed those strange beast

to live into the 20th century.

Right, Batman.

And it was another act of nature

that took them away.

And it's a lucky thing

that I have a good nature

or I think I'd send Gleek back to Planet Exxor.

Oh, no!

[Zan] It looks like Gleek forgot to wipe the tar off his feet.

[gibberish]
