I'm sorry, gentlemen. We have received nothing from Moscow.

We're supposed to live for what?

If I knew, I would live too.

Going to sea, you will have a premium.

Let us not pay.

Pavel !

We have to go, back!

Sergei gave us 800.

- She added stuff. - What?

She added stuff!

If there is not the whole list, it kills me.

Go Oleg, it's good!

For my wife, a glass.

This is perhaps the desolation of this land that brings us together,

but clearly, it is united.

And tonight, Pavel and Darya are united.

As best friend Pavel ...

Crying now?

Shut up !

Me ? I said nothing.

As best friend Pavel, I would toast.

At Pavel and Darya and their half-dozen children

who will take care of Uncle Anton, when I am old.

I raise my glass to Daria.

My sweet Tania will testify,

the life of a sailor's wife is not easy.

Life here in the Northern Fleet,

is even harder.

So imagine being married to Pavel ...

over the market.

Imagine the agony!

But who adapts.

And when everything goes wrong,

what are we doing ?

The marine band, the band of sailors

Here's my c ?? ur and here is my hand

Not angry, but annoyed.

Reactor three-quarters of its maximum power.

At your service.

I have to do everything myself?

No, Admiral.

What a great show!

It was 20 years ago, for the same year,

we had three times as many ships.

Today, allowed to rust in dry dock.

Bones is our submarines to recover the pieces.

You remember the Kutuzov?

My first command.

He was relieved of its missiles

and now carries meat and vegetables at the base of polyarny.

If the Americans attack us,

the Kutuzov could swing their cabbage.

It's still impressive.

This is a resounding message to our enemies.

It remains to determine who our enemies are.

Against Admiral Russell.

General Officer assigned to submarines.

Thank you.

Then this Russian exercise?

57 surface ships and submarines detected 3.

An Oscar-II, the Kursk, left vidyayevo to 07 h 20.

Acoustic ?

Silence and invisibility.

Oscar!

Fortunately, they no longer have the means to build.

The Typhoon, were heard, it was avoiding collisions.

In time, the Russians were in a year, you imagine?

Hello.

- Admiral Gruzinsky is? - At the man ?? piece.

You know, is not it?

We met. We fished together.

Watch this.

Too much, in my case.

So Gruzinsky admiral.

What you book us?

Chief Officer of the quarter, dive to 28 meters.

085 to starboard.

Once stabilized the pace, go to n ?? 20 knots.

28 m, 085, 20 nuds.

Armament?

24 SS-16 missiles, torpedoes 21 L-55

and an HP drive torpedo.

La Fat Girl ?

- Situation ? - Stable.

I hate HP. Cheap and dangerous.

135.

I have more shows.

I look forward to get rid of it.

Take care of yourself !

Repos.

The exercise will involve three steps.

Shooting the training missile.

Firing the driving torpedo.

Back at the base undetected.

State reactors?

The two reactors are trimmed.

The armament?

The training torpedo is stable,

but its internal temperature is slightly elevated,

sign of a potential leak of hydrogen peroxide.

Noted.

We will get rid of as soon as the shooting will be allowed.

- Something else ? - No.

At work.

clear tube.

Ready to load.

The temperature is a peak. 142 and growing.

Priority Call, pass me the commander.

Here the commander.

The torpedo is angry. 142 and it continues to climb.

148.

Do you authorize to shoot before the launch window?

Are we on the threshold of tolerance?

Yes, sir.

The shooting window is in 7 min.

We are not in position.

Permission denied.

At your service.

It is procedural.

152.

We no longer have to pray.

I am not a believer.

Secure the compartment. Close the lock.

Close the gates!

Secure the bulkhead.

Close doors and valves.

PC here compartment 7, answer!

- Why does not respond? - They are dead.

Shut up.

- We not rise? - In your opinion ?

Shut up !

PC here compartment 7, answer.

Chief fire torpedo room.

Temperature detonation?

It seems that the warheads explode to 180 °.

For how much ?

At 180 °.

It is out counter.

How do we do ?

As for training, secure ...

Rearward ! Sub 9!

Pavel and Anton are in the front.

Go to the compartment 9.

Leaves it on the platform, in line compartment 9.

Move!

Anton !

Compartment 5, 7 compartment here, answer.

Compartment 5,

Here compartment 7, answer.

Mikhail, they died.

Must take. We're off !

Here compartment 5. Mikhail?

Anton, one is at 7. Situation?

The reactor melts.

The cooling is no longer done.

Get out of there.

If we leave, it will be a second Chernobyl.

We must engage the convection mode.

Water level?

It's rising. Quick.

Mikhail?

Tell Vera that I love.

Goodbye.

Goodbye.

Move!

All 9 at bay!

There is someone ?

Come on!

Peter !

Do not go out!

Advance!

Leo, come on.

Let go of me !

Wake up !

Help me.

Monte !

We know what happened?

Not really.

How we survived?

It is in the back. That's how.

As it exploded in front, armored walls protected us.

What are we doing ?

We leave the discharge valve and releases.

We take water.

No, the procedure is in order.

First, the fund is stabilized and the inventory we made our reservations.

And after studying the evacuation solutions.

- Everyone understands? - Yes sir !

Very well.

The major and Niko,

seal the compartment and drain main pipes.

Then assess the house from front to back.

Boris, take care of the pump.

Sasha, where are you?

Take the hammer to signal them that we are alive.

Several sequences of 4 shots, at peak.

Four strokes.

Focus on the Barents Sea, northeast of Murmansk.

Display maritime traffic. Right now.

Find a satellite image clearer.

Tighten. What is that ?

So ?

The Russian frigate crisscross the area. Other vessels encircle the.

"Seismic Events." Specify.

A first minor, one major. 3.9 on the Richter scale.

At 11 h 28. Two minutes apart.

For God Sake !

They lost a submarine.

Find seismic clues NORSAR for the area.

That the US deflect the Satcom 3 to photograph vidyayevo

and side ports of Murmansk.

Bruce...

Call the headquarters of the Northern Fleet.

- Who ? - The Gruzinsky admiral.

I endorse NATO?

If I wanted that, I would have told you.

- Admiral on deck! - Rest!

Record.

Two acoustic events.

- How big? - Our instruments do not specify.

Locate and identify the boat.

- The Kursk? - Prepare Dronov for diving.

- Including ? - Yes, sir.

What does it mean?

An explosion, then a second,

which is actually a sum of simultaneous explosions.

Granit missiles.

Rather torpedoes.

- The new Northern Fleet? - Always not.

Survivors?

There were two large explosions.

US satellites show dockside rescue equipment.

Mum ?

Good or bad?

They are small.

But good.

Put them in the basket.

They are very small.

Mushrooms baby.

We will put them in the soup.

Let's go.

The water is rising fast.

On a pris 1,50 m.

One does what one can.

Pass me the key.

- There is a shortage of rags! - Leo, rags!

- Go ahead ! - Move !

I'll get.

Niko, vite.

I do not have.

That advance with the pump?

- Should rotate. - I'm taking care of it.

One branch on reserve batteries.

Connected.

Take milk for testing.

Give me the milk.

Check it aspires.

It will slow the rise of water but without stopping.

Boris, make sure it is running. It still takes water.

Yes sir.

Niko, blankets for warmth.

Prepare the oxygen generator.

Do not start before we have seen the whole procedure.

Leo ?

Everything is fine ?

- We will get out of this. - I'm not afraid.

Listen to me carefully.

Imagine up there with your friends here at the bottom.

You'd do anything to save them.

- You go to the end. - Until the end.

Everything we do for them,

they will do for us.

- Yes sir. - Do you believe me ?

It's okay ?

Yes sir.

It was the sound?

Admiral, it does not work.

We will repair. We are almost there.

My God !

It's worse.

Much worse than I expected.

No one can survive that.

This is the Kursk. Something happened.

- What? - I'm sorry.

Ilina!

Mum !

Health.

Anastasia !

- What is happening ? - They lost contact.

When? Since when ?

I dunno.

It would be in flames.

- Who told you that ? - Dacha.

The heart ?? s Danil said that all is well.

- They are trapped? - Who knows ?

What do we do ?

Vadim found.

I'm going to find out at the base.

It is found in Vera.

Do not worry, we'll find out.

It happened something in Kursk?

I am not at all aware.

Have you not heard? Can you tell me anything?

Not if I know.

But even if I knew, I would not have the right to say it.

Commander Tymoshenko!

Commandant !

There was a problem with the Kursk?

I'm here for a meeting. Excuse me.

It would be a miracle if the Navy played transparency.

This is nonsense.

What are we doing ?

It leaves the navy do its job.

She will do everything possible to bring them back alive.

One must know what is happening.

Yes that's it.

It was 30 years ago, so that Anton was not even the age of Misha,

his father worked on Kiev.

A fire broke

and the submarine remained basically for three weeks.

I was not aware of anything.

The marine protected me while saving the life of Vadim.

The comrades will do their duty.

Yours is to wait and hope.

Café ?

I did not say goodbye to Anton when he left.

I was angry.

He had promised to replace the window above the sink.

I have not even kissed.

This might be our last time together.

And me, I yelled.

He knew you loved him.

He knew ?

He knows it.

You must be strong.

We must all be strong.

We do not have a choice.

Commandant !

Misha, you will sit there.

- My name is Tanya Averina. - I know.

I know Mikhail.

This is our only rescue ship?

If they were alive, you'd be already at sea.

I am sorry.

Really.

I got it.

We have more oxygen.

The oxygen plant is dead.

We must start the generator.

Oleg.

We need to turn cartridges.

- Oleg. - I know.

Shit !

A problem ?

We have no cartridges.

There is none!

- Y has necessarily. - We looked everywhere.

They are somewhere.

Yes sir. Compartment 8

in the lower part.

It is I who have the data to Timur.

8 is flooded.

One can longer access.

Whore !

Boris.

Do restart the pump.

I will help you.

Ready.

Emergency batteries.

Notice to the fleet.

Cut all engines.

Audio Test confirmed.

We hear what is to hear.

Cut the engines.

Affirmative.

Fifteen seconds.

This is the full hour.

Now !

The audio work?

Yes, it detects the ambient noise and current flow.

Nothing.

The full hour.

She has passed.

What?

The time has passed. We must strike.

Sorry, I sold my watch.

Contact Rudnitsky. Right now !

Contact Rudnitsky.

Tanya reversed?

I Koulkin.

They heard a knock on the hull of the Kursk.

Thank you.

Marina !

Daria !

- What? - They heard a knock!

They heard a knock!

You're sure ?

They are alive!

- They heard a knock. - What is going on ?

The lifeboat goes.

- You're sure ? - It is true ?

Yes !

They are alive!

I want to direct satellite vidyayevo and north-east of Murmansk.

This is the Kursk which sank.

A ship sailed there 2 hours with a submersible rescue.

- So there are survivors. - Submersible What?

The Russians had three.

Mir was sold to an American box.

It serves to show the Titanic wreck to wealthy tourists.

$ 20 000 visits.

The A-32 is locked in the Black Sea, bulk stabilizers.

Remains the Priz,

a worthless pile of bolts to navigate in a bathtub.

The Russians have sought our help?

My numerous calls to Admiral Gruzinsky

went unanswered. But he is not crazy.

The Kursk is full of state secrets gem.

Cryptography, propulsion, armaments. Not touch.

On Verra.

Meanwhile, prepare made the LR-5 for transport

and take inventory

the saturation divers activity by Finland.

Wait here.

Health.

- No. - Why ?

I said no.

First, know that I will do my maximum

share all the information we have.

But understand that for safety reasons,

certain information must remain confidential at this stage.

So...

The Russian Navy

and especially the Northern Fleet,

is proud of its history

the service of the nation and its brave sailors ...

Commandant !

Excuse me for interrupting.

You could have heard banging on the hull of the Kursk.

It is true ?

I have nothing to say about it.

However, the Russian navy,

and especially the Northern Fleet ...

He will not say anything.

Sorry, sir, but we're here for news.

You have nothing to say?

- At the stroke on the hull? - The state of sailors?

- The oxygen supply? - And the rescue?

Tell us !

- They still how long? - Say something !

Please !

I am sorry.

Really sorry.

I'm sorry, but I have nothing to add!

Tell us !

- Please ! - Commanding officer !

You have behaved badly.

We must trust them.

- I do not trust them. - It must !

Excuse me...

He died, Dad?

I dunno.

You think he's dead?

I hope it goes well.

Me too.

Nobody.

Wake up.

You hear me ?

You have to stay awake. Stay with us.

- It must go through the lower chamber. - Impossible.

It must. We need oxygen.

Not you there will arrive.

Leo !

Chef.

They are what record?

I left before the range.

- You do not know ? - In the lower part.

It will take time to find them.

Who wants to come with me ?

Sacha ?

Come get the oxygen cartridges.

Leo, teeming down.

It's insane. It's too far.

Your arm.

Come on, your arm.

It's good.

Help him!

Take them out of the water! Bring blankets!

Help me !

Come on!

Look at me !

Take it out!

Come on!

Hold on, Sacha!

Come on!

Sacha !

It's okay ?

Look at me.

Where are the cartridges?

Two boxes.

10 cartridges per box.

a toast was in.

We still have 19.

What took you time!

Serious.

You go back get my jersey?

Watch out!

Attention !

Soft ! Warning !

Five men for the man out ??!

Speed, n ?? ud.

battery level: 85%.

Rise to 25%.

Leo, come on!

Yes sir.

- Watch out ! - I know.

Be careful.

Yes I know.

Listen to me.

You did it in training?

The theory. I did the short course.

So no.

No water on it.

You hear me ? No water.

No water.

- It will explode on contact with water. - A large fire.

You understand ? A large fire. And after ?

- More oxygen. - Well, that's not good.

Take it always on top.

Take the cartridge.

Returns it.

Lowers the lever.

Locked.

We will approach side reactors

and let the current carry us to escape hatch.

What's this ?

They are there !

It's them !

Silence! Silence!

Let's listen!

Wait.

- It is not clamped. - We're in position.

- It's not stows. - Why ?

25% battery.

23.

- I do not let go. - We all die.

We recharge and come back.

Open ballasts.

In 3, 2, 1 ...

Full speed ahead.

Before any left.

I would not sail.

Attention !

They tapped the helm!

They go back!

I confirm !

They date back.

The bastards!

Come back!

Come back!

Come back!

Silence !

Silence !

Listen to me carefully.

They will come back.

Believe me, they will come back!

And if stowage still misses?

Go back to swimming, for rapid ascents.

They are there.

You know the rescue ship.

We must get out of here!

He has no hyperbaric chamber.

The decompression will kill you, you know.

You go out, you die.

On attend !

We can not wait.

We have already waited too long.

Fed up of waiting!

Why have you not managed to secure you?

I do not know.

It is replaced every year.

God knows when it was done.

The rudder is damaged.

Fix it!

At your service.

Change the battery.

We start again, fast.

It has only one. It takes 12 hours to recharge.

We did not spare?

Our batteries were sold with the Mir

for the Titanic.

So...

It is a small polar bear who goes to see his mother

"I'm a polar bear, right?"

She replied: "Yes, of course."

And the bear said, "I see Thank you.."

The next day,

the Pooh returns to see his mother and asks:

"If I understood correctly,

"You, you're a polar bear?"

And she: "Yes, of course."

And the bear continues:

"And Dad is a polar bear?"

And she replied: "Yes, of course."

And Pooh: "I see.

"I wanted to be sure."

The next day,

the Pooh returns again see his mother and asks:

"We must get this straight.

"You, you're a polar bear?"

And the mother: "Yes."

"And Dad is a polar bear?"

And she replied: "Yes."

"So I'm a polar bear, right?"

And she: "Yes."

So the Pooh asks:

"So why I ..."

"If cold, whore?"

Sorry, Oleg.

"So why I'm so cold, damn?"

No kidding !

Why is it so long?

And the ring?

It makes it warm in the hope that oil will penetrate better,

to soften and allow stowage.

This is hardly reassuring.

Continue!

The battery is almost charged!

- Leo! - Yes sir.

Hammer!

I say that in Moscow?

I'm taking care of it.

Amiral Gruzinsky de la stunning du Nord.

I need to talk to cons-Admiral David Russell

the Royal Navy.

I will hand you over to him.

Andrei!

David! It's been too long !

It is true.

Tell me everything.

You know the Priz

and Mikhail Rudnitsky.

They are designed to carry wood, not for the Barents Sea.

How many survivors?

I do not know.

Maybe 20 or 25.

The damage?

At the rear of the reactors, the compartments are intact.

Everything else is screwed.

Your superiors will allow our coming?

When I have tried enough

to achieve the impossible with faulty equipment.

I understand.

Tell me if it is released.

You could do something.

We propose to immediately deploy the RS-5,

Our highly sophisticated submarine rescue,

and other material assistance.

The Russian teams failing to reach survivors,

International aid proposals tributary.

Britain, France, Norway and the United States

offered their technical and logistical assistance.

We propose to immediately deploy the RS-5,

Our highly sophisticated submarine rescue,

and other material assistance.

This could be a unique collaboration in history,

that would sweep the distrust born of the Cold War.

But surprisingly,

there is still no response

Kremlin or admirals of the northern fleet.

The hypothesis raised from the wreck

would be a collision with a foreign vessel.

With these silent submarines, it is a constant risk

worse, of course,

by NATO aggression.

Offers of assistance, will you accept?

Everything is still confused at this point.

Viewing.

Boris, check the batteries.

Yes sir.

Deaths!

- The pump is in the harbor. - So ?

The water will rise.

- How much water? - What do we do ?

- Calm down. - This is not good.

Save your strength and oxygen.

Not fall asleep.

Maxim, what do you do?

We have to go.

We should have to go a long time ago.

Maxim, come down from there! Come back !

Maxim, come back!

Come back !

Redescends!

I want to live !

Stopped !

Stopped !

Redescends!

Stopped !

You there will arrive not, stop!

Hence the interest to accept the English and Norwegian aid.

The survivors are all in the back.

foreigners can be confined to that part of the building.

Yes, they knew what they were exposed.

But their wives?

Follow the orders. No foreign interference.

Very good sir.

I understand.

Marina ?

Where's Vera?

She joins us.

I arrive !

Hurry up !

Your attention please. Admiral Petrenko!

I know you are going through a very difficult test.

The President and I want to assure you

we put everything possible ??

to trace the men stayed aboard the Kursk.

To this end, I will give you a list of vessels

currently at sea.

The flagship

Peter the Great.

The rescue ship Mikhail Rudnitsky.

Admiral!

What is the crew's condition?

Have you established a wireless connection?

Who's alive?

Yes, who is alive?

Are they injured?

And foreign assistance?

You accepted?

If you let me talk, I will bring clarification.

Offers from abroad are being studied.

Meanwhile, here's what we know.

The Kursk is intact

at the bottom of the sea.

He is very...

difficult to access.

It lies at 500 m depth,

where visibility is almost zero.

It is strongly inclined.

What?

The Barents Sea never reached that depth.

We see as through glass.

Our courageous rescue teams ...

The Barents Sea is not as deep.

The visibility is not what you say.

Are you an expert in underwater rescue?

So let the real experts work.

I'm not an expert,

but I'm not fooled either.

No one here is.

Nobody !

You should not lie.

You're lying to us.

How dare you !

I return the question.

We have children.

We have husbands.

Your husband and your son are Russian sailors.

All have sworn to defend the country at the peril of their lives.

Rescuers on site are the maximum.

They are well equipped.

They have the latest equipment, also advanced,

even better than that of foreign nations.

Whatever !

And everyone knows it.

Sit

and listen.

Anger and arrogance lead to nothing.

Take a seat.

My husband served in the Northern Fleet.

We belong to the Navy!

We raised a sailor. Why ?

To die for nothing?

Calm down or you put you out.

Tell us if they are still alive

or at least, how long they have left!

Calm down or you put you out.

She's right !

Calm down.

No ! We're wasting time!

You want our men die

for nothing !

Damn you !

You all !

Damn you !

You, your admirals

your officials ...

Go to hell!

Where you put us,

with our families and our children!

We demand that justice!

What do you do to him?

Shame on you ! It's a shame !

David...

I would accept your offer to help.

- What changed ? - I do not know. Me ?

Divers from the oil platform in the North Sea Asgard

will be back in Trondheim with the RS-5.

11 am We will to join the site.

- Graham. - David.

Here are the cons-Admiral David Russell, he directed the operation.

Delighted, gentlemen. Thank you for being here.

Thank you.

Before going, we'll ask you to sign a release

for diving without hyperbaric canoe.

You waive continue Stolt,

in case of injury or death by irradiation or weapon of war.

Admiral Petrenko is not there?

He sent me.

You take command?

Yes. To the rescue operation.

Waiting to take the lead

of the Northern Fleet.

Here the cons-Admiral Russell Navy, aboard the Seaway Eagle.

Solicited by Gruzinsky Admiral

we ask permission to approach the site. To you.

Keep your current location until further notice.

Cut the engines.

Mikhail.

What are you doing ?

I need a pen.

I have a pen.

I'm not fine ?

Tell me.

You were how old

when your father died?

Three years.

You know.

What memories you keep him?

Tell me frankly.

No.

No.

Misha...

it will only have a very vague memory of me.

And the baby ...

he will have none at all.

No that's not true.

I feel my father.

I know my mother loved him and he loved me.

In one way or another, it has always been part of me.

That's what I have to say.

Thank you.

Graham Mann, who oversees divers.

And Admiral Einar Skorgen, NATO commander North Norway

a key man in this operation.

Here is the list of what needs to be done,

including your technical and photographic surveys of the site.

We must have the characteristics of the airlock.

Everything in its time.

Everything in its time !

Admiral, with respect,

hurry up.

Yes.

We must send our ROV to survey radiation ...

There was misunderstanding about this meeting.

Comment ?

The Russian rescue equipment works fine.

Tomorrow, we will decide

Your participation in the operation.

What we came doing here?

I'll be frank.

With our divers and our equipment,

we can trace your men in a few hours.

We know nothing of their condition. Accept our help.

If there are survivors, we can save them quickly.

I think I was very clear.

When we meet again,

If we need you, we'll tell you.

We await your call.

Why they hang out?

To protect their naval secrets

and avoid national humiliation.

- Losing their gem, it's humiliating. - Not if you wear the hat.

In a collision or an operation that has failed?

Maybe both.

So what ? We wait ?

On attend.

And men who are at the bottom?

They wait too.

- I can not. - You're close.

We will retry!

Turn around.

We start again. Point.

battery level: 25%.

We stay.

battery level: 12%.

battery level: 9%.

Do not let go ! Do not let go !

8 % !

Do not move !

Do not move ! Stays put!

You move !

The battery is 7%, must be abandoned.

Abandoned !

Open ballasts.

On remonte.

Ascension.

You heard knocking?

No nothing.

Send the British at dawn.

Admiral!

That's tomorrow!

Put pressure divers, they are ready.

My friend...

Do not leave me.

Stay with me.

What is this mess ?

Good God !

You, I know.

But I'm not ready to die.

Hello Kursk!

Hello !

Breakfast will be served.

Leo, help me.

Come on, wake up!

Show me what you have.

We will prepare a nice morning buffet.

Go Sasha!

You what, you?

You thon.

Great, fish!

We have meat ?

Cakes ?

of crackers?

of crackers?

You have what, guys?

Never satisfied!

- What a coincidence ! - Tuna.

I have no desire to eat.

Its good !

For once the Navy ensures!

Nobody !

Where is she ?

- Get. - Where is she ?

A real breakfast brekkie!

I also.

And me ?

It's warming up.

It's so good !

Maxim, look!

It has everything you need.

You want to go back, would you?

Not yet. We have not finished everything here.

I'll redo my joke about the polar bear?

This time you say anything, Boris.

So it's a little polar bear

that will see him and his mother said ...

Have a drink instead.

Without control you, you little shit ...

Leo, watch out!

Lift it up!

Was how long?

A few minutes.

It's been an honor

serve with you.

Admiral!

We're ready to go!

Let's go!

We move, check oxygen.

- Divers in pressure. - Preparation 106 m.

Lets' go !

We hurry!

Make sure the exhaust air lock is not flooded.

Well received.

Open the balancing valve and make an aspiration test.

The discharge valve is flooded.

No survivors.

My Mikhail said that those who had known the sea

were changed forever.

They differed from the rest of the world,

related to each other

by the sea.

That's why sailors

save the sailors.

Even in war.

I do not know if we are at war.

We will not know the opinion of the men of Kursk.

But before dying, my husband

We wrote a letter to me,

our son

and our unborn child.

"Nobody ever.

"But I wanted more.

"I wanted to give you more.

"And other children.

"Love our son and baby

"for both of us.

"Tell them again and again

"I love them,

"As I have loved you.

"Find another man to love,

"But love me too.

"Because even if I'm

"A moment for you,

"You are my eternal."

Misha Averin !

Bravo.

In the church.

I have something for you.

It belonged to your father.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Mum.
