A sudden stirring of some wild creature.

And then, I really began to hear things.

I was doubtful at first but ..

They were strange, haunting sounds.

Like some forlorn echo out of the past.

I approached. The eerie notes seemed to
thread the links of the story together.

Behind the music, I heard the sounds
of lost laughter, tears and tragedy.

They seemed to melt together.

Drifting around me from
another generation.

Then gradually.

The garbled story of the
local people became reality.

Stark.

Vivid. True.

As I wandered through the dusty rooms.

I could feel the vibrations of the
people who had lived here and died.

Ordinary human beings like you and I.

Human passions of love and hate.

Then I heard, quite definitely.

The sound of a violin and a piano.

That was very nice.
