Located in the Southeast Region, home
to almost 12 million people,

this is the largest megacity in the
southern hemisphere.

Teams must negotiate the country's
biggest and wealthiest urban areas,

a leg that could have sizeable impacts

on their diminishing budgets.

- Freddy, get the map out.

Oh, that's a long way.

- South-west of Rio De Janeiro.

- That's a long way south.

That is probably from England to
Greece.

- To reach the checkpoint, teams could
head west via the modern capital,

Brasilia, offering lucrative job
opportunities

and a reliable transport network.

South via Belo Horizonte - following
the most direct route,

but with fewer travel options - it
could be a risk.

Or travel east, tempted by popular
carnival destinations

such as Salvador and Rio De Janeiro,

it's the longest but most
well-connected tourist path.

- Just don't know.

But we want to make sure that, before
the end of the day,

we get to do something for your mum.

Salvador, Fred, is known for its
sunsets and I think

we'd possibly get there today.

An unwavering beacon of hope,

mum

Rio, obviously there'll be more, like,

us doing things that we actually love.

- Me and Kola, growing up, it was like
one big family, like, we were

merged, essentially, like, my mum

going, "Mary's at yours for the week,"

Kola would stay at my house MONTHS.

We were just like one big, blended
family, to be honest.

It was so much fun - food, music,
stories, dance.
