He didn't finish on his own,

so this boy is disqualified. [Jang Daepo]

It's still better than dying.

Did you think learning martial arts is child's play?

No.

If abandoning a friend is being a warrior,

I'd rather not be that kind of a warrior.

What did you say?

If letting a friend die to win is being a warrior...

What difference is that from being an assassin?

If this is what learning martial arts is,

I'd rather quit.

Really?

Okay, if you insist, do what you want.

Wait... Wait a minute!

Don't quit. [Yang Chorip]

I won't give up.

Please give me ten days.

Within ten days, I'll succeed no matter what.

Don't give up and come back when you've grown into a man.

You're so weak...

Bye!

I won't give up.

Do you think I'll lose because of you?

(Episode 5)

There will be no dinner for Baek Dongsoo's team tonight.

[Cheongamsa Temple]

[Yoo Sogang]

Before you start, I'm warning you.

If you don't finish in time, you'll be disqualified with no mercy.

Do you understand?

Yes, sir!

Hey, it's okay. Let's go.

It's not over yet. So don't get out of line!

I don't see one of them.

What happened?

I demand to know what happened!

That is...

Isam, Isam!

How did this happen?

He suffered from a severe cold last night.

What did you say?

Why didn't you tell me earlier?

Don't cry.

This boy's death was worthy.

There's no such thing as a worthy death!

His death wasn't worthy. He died like a dog!

You're wrong.

To die while running on the path you've chosen

is nobler than anything else in this world.

That doesn't make sense.

As a warrior, death will follow you like your own shadow.

Remember this.

17 defeats out of 17 challenges.

In my opinion, you'll lose 100 times out of 100.

What?

Hey, Dongsoo!

Are you okay?

Dongsoo!

Tell him not to wake me up.

Dongsoo!

What brings you here?

This guard was created to escort His Excellency.

Shouldn't His Excellency

visit them at least once?

Because of the ruling party, [Im Soowoong (Military Drillmaster)]

he isn't in a position

to leave on a long trip. [Heuksamo]

That's why he should look after his affairs.

Just tell him to visit them.

You must miss Dongsoo, right?

Why would I miss that brat?

By the way, did you hear anything?

Did he cause any trouble?

Samo, it hasn't yet been one month.

That's right.

Even a month hasn't passed.

Anyhow, tell him what I told you.

Yes, I'll tell him.

Hurry and go.

Did you say, Dongsoo?

Yes, sir.

[Crown Prince Sado]

I would like to visit

and see them in person.

Make preparations.

Your Excellency, shouldn't we find the northern campaign plan first?

[Bukbeol Jigye: Military strategy to conquer the north left by King Hyojong]

The northern campaign plan is important.

However, those kids are more important to me.

Furthermore, did that boy not save my life?

There's no need to discuss this any further.

Hurry and make preparations.

Yes.

Are you certain?

Yes, sir.

[Hong Daejoo (Chief of Police)]

If he left on horseback,

His destination must be the warrior training camp.

So what are you going to do?

You'll get the northern campaign plan

you've waited 100 years for in your hands.

And as for me, I'll have the Crown Prince by the scruff of his neck.

Isn't this a win-win plan?

There is only one reason why I'm doing this.

That northern campaign plan.

I'm curious to know what it is.

Anyhow, all I want from you is for you to do the legwork.

Which one will you choose?

The northern campaign plan or the warrior training camp?

The Crown Prince has chosen the warrior training camp.

Then you must be more interested in the warrior training camp.

Isn't that right?

Do you trust them?

They seem to be more

reliable than you, who let a fish slip through your fingers.

That was because...

Lord, don't underestimate me.

I'm also a lord.

Do you really believe

[Danghakwan: From below third to ninth level ranked government official]

you earned that title by yourself?

I know that isn't the case, however...

I haven't stained myself with a single drop of blood.

So that's a double, no triple, gain.

That's right!

Your Lord is here!

You should step forward and introduce yourselves one by one.

My name is Tae Woong.

My name is Yeo Woon.

I heard you already have

excellent swordsmanship despite your young age.

I want you to make even greater efforts.

Yes, sir.

My name is Baek Dongsoo.

Are your parents still alive?

They passed away.

But I have an uncle with a big stomach who looks like a pig.

However, we're not related by blood.

Isn't it?

Dongsoo!

Dongsoo, isn't the training too hard for you?

It's not hard, but...

Nothing! I'm fine.

Why? Is Daepo giving you a hard time?

No.

Then what?

Say, isn't the aristocrat I rescued last time that lord?

This little brat!

Everything about you is great except for your big mouth.

If you see him again later, you must address him as Lord, okay?

My Lord?

Pronounce it correctly. "My Lord."

- My Lord. - That's right!

Are you eating well? You look like you've lost weight.

Come here. Let me have a look at you.

[Yoo Jiseon]

Tomorrow,

His Excellency will come for you.

Father!

Consider this

northern campaign plan to be a part of your own body.

[House of Yoo Sogang]

Why are they making

such a fuss about that [In (Heuksa Chorong Master of Men)]

northern campaign plan? [Ji (Heuksa Chorong Master of Earth)]

Huh? huh?

You don't respond to my question.

Shouldn't you answer me when I ask something?

We're on the same side, you know.

Anyhow, have yourselves a decent fight tonight!

That girl!

Come out!

You must leave now!

Royal Guard!

[Royal Guard: Bodyguards to the Crown Prince] My sword!

You're having a fine time!

It's because you met the right owner.

I'll take care of them. You should escort His Excellency.

Step aside.

I'll take care of your comrade, so don't worry.

Go... And sweep the road to hell. Nice and clean!

Father, Father!

Are you alright?

Take the child and go ahead first.

Hurry up!

Why are you alone?

We were too late.

You go first.

But...

Her skills are just as good as the swordmaster's.

Hurry and go!

Do you want to live?

Who wishes to die?

You're quite lucky.

I let the northern campaign plan

slip through my fingers. He'll nag at me longer

than the Great Wall of China. Right?

I should just keep my mouth closed.

Father, Father!

If you're a man, you should go to the bathroom all by yourself.

Did you come out to greet me?

[Jangyongwi: Military camp of elite troops with exceptional martial arts training]

Dongsoo!

Dongsoo, let's go.

Who is it?

His name is Chun. He's the leader of the Black Assassins.

What are you waiting for? Get out of here quickly.

Samo, you should guide the children.

You're their leader.

I'll take care of him.

I don't have time to take care of your corpse.

So stay alive.

Your Excellency, please be careful!

Let's go!

Dongsoo!

Aren't you Daepo?

Tonight, you can keep me company on my way to hell.

You're quite the sweet talker.

But can you do that?

We'll see...

Step aside, you villains!

Go ahead.

Didn't you say you'd take me with you to hell?

What are you waiting for?

You snake, you've never even seen me handle my sword.

Besides Kwangtaek, no one can take me.

What is it?

Woon... Woon isn't with us.

Dongsoo!

Dongsoo, Dongsoo!

Your Excellency!

Step aside.

Even the three of us together won't be able to take him.

What are you waiting for?

Every man's life is valuable.

Your Excellency, I will sacrifice my life to hold him back for a while.

Please get out of here quickly.

Your life is as precious as the life of all the people.

Didn't I tell you that I'd take you with me to hell?

What a great sense of loyalty you have!

Woon, Yeo Woon!

Unfortunately, your life is short.

Captain!

Captain!

What are you doing here?

Didn't I tell you to run away?

Hurry and go!

Even if I die here,

I'll have to take one of your arms with me.

Okay, go ahead and take it.

Do you plan to drag me with you to hell?

[Donggwieojin: Go to one's deaths together]

You brat, how dare leave a scratch on my sacred body?

Dongsoo!

Dongsoo!

To kill a man, you should penetrate either his throat or his heart.

Do you understand?

And you shouldn't hold the sword like this.

Hold it like this, or you'll hurt your wrist.

Dongsoo!

Don't move.

Is your name Dongsoo?

I didn't mortally wound you, so you won't die.

Keep that in mind.

Dongsoo!

I let the Crown Prince escape.

So I can't let you live.

No... Captain!

Watch carefully.

A weak man can die but a meaningless death.

No... No!

Don't blame me.

Captain! Captain!

No! No!

No! Captain!

Captain!

Captain!

Captain!

Captain!

Captain!

Captain!

Did you mean it?

It was good to see you so consumed by anger.

Keep an eye on him.

Because he's the one you should exceed one day.

Priest! Priest!

Priest!

Priest!

[Cheongamsa Temple]

Will he be alright?

What happened?

Are you alright?

Jiseon, wait outside.

Excuse me?

Wait outside.

Yes, sir.

Will I live?

You're bleeding a lot.

And your organs are severely damaged.

How did this happen?

Priest, I have a favor to ask of you.

Drink this.

What is this?

This is for a great cause.

Don't worry and drink it.

Father!

His hemorrhage appeared serious.

I'm afraid he won't live.

What about his daughter?

Fortunately, she appeared to be fine.

I've done her a grievous wrong.

Your Excellency!

Your Excellency, please forgive me.

Say no more.

There is nothing more important than your life.

You're alive, and that's enough.

Your Excellency!

Take the Royal Guard with you and go to the camp as soon as day breaks.

Yes, sir.

I will go and see Yoo Sogang's daughter myself.

Dongsoo, Dongsoo!

Father, father!

Father, please wake up!

Father!

Father! Wake up!

Father!

Father! Father!

Father! Wake up! Father!

[Heuksa Chorong]

It wasn't even the swordmaster,

just the Royal Guard...

You've lost six of your men.

How is it possible you couldn't get the northern campaign plan?

It doesn't add up. But what's done is done.

And what about you, how did you let the prince get away?

And what's that windy hole in your flank?

That's none of your business.

Gaok, do you even remember the last time he bled?

I'm so curious. Just who could have left a hole in that body?

What did I say?

There's no such thing as a worthy death in this world.

It doesn't exist.

That just doesn't exist. It doesn't!

Captain!

That doesn't exist.

We don't have time to grieve.

Let's go!

Captain!

Father... Father...

Father... Father!

Father!

Father! Father! Father!

Captain!

That's enough.

Get up now.

Daepo sacrificed his life for the sake of your futures.

Don't you understand that?

Only those who truly want to be warriors, follow me.

Where are we going?

We're going deep into the mountains where no one can find us.

Samo, I'm going to become really strong.

I'm going to become strong and...

Of course, you should.

Don't worry about Daepo.

He's gone to meet Sagoeng, so he must be really happy about now.

I'll train these kids up so well,

that we'll be able to come back to the capital one day.

So serve His Excellency well and wait for us.

[Jangyongwi: Military camp of elite troops with exceptional martial arts training]

Baek Dongsoo, keep your balance!

[Yeo Woon]

Hey, Baek Dongsoo!

[Baek Dongsoo]

[Yoo Jiseon]

[Swordmaster Kim Kwangtaek (Most skilled swordsman in Joseon)]

Like I told you, the pot contains the poison of a blowfish.

Baek Dongsoo!

Yes, sir!

Tell me about this blowfish poison.

Yes, sir!

Even the smallest amount of blowfish poison

can cause paralysis, loss of consciousness, or death.

No one has found the antidote yet.

However, if one doesn't lose consciousness

within the first 8 hours, [4 Sijin: 8 hours]

one develops immunity to the poison and lives.

That's exact.

Now then, you will drink the blowfish poison down to the last drop.

- Execute! - Execute!

[Yang Chorip]

That's enough!

Baek Dongsoo, Yeo Woon and Yang Chorip passed the test.

The rest are all disqualified.

Dongsoo, Dongsoo, Baek Dongsoo!

I was afraid no one would pass this time either.

But a few of them made it.

Did Dongsoo pass the test?

He endured the poison for eight hours, so of course, he passed.

Didn't he lose consciousness?

Do you smile when you're unconscious?

If I had to rank our winners, Dongsoo would be first.

Captain, but he's so immature.

It's a bull's eye!

Hey, you...

[Taeyong Sanggak Yonggeol]

Chorip, I never thought you'd pass,

even in my wildest dreams!

In my opinion, you won't last here forever.

What did you say?

That's enough.

We'll make it out of here soon enough, too. So go and save a place for us.

Okay.

I'll get going.

I'll be waiting for you guys.

So don't be long!

Hurry up and go!

Your captain will be waiting for you!

Yes!

Please give me a pound of meat.

You're the first customer today. So just give me one dollar.

Wow, it's really been a while, hasn't it?

It's all so new.

They're really pretty, aren't they?

Hey, how long have we been here that you're already after girls?

In my opinion, you need to train your mind for at least 10 more years.

What about you? What did you buy in the bookstore?

A book on martial arts.

A book on martial arts?

Then let me see it!

Go away!

We're here.

Already?

Captain!

What?

Is Dongsoo one of the first who finished training?

That's not possible.

Yeo Woon!

Woon, come over for dinner later!

I'm coming too!

Me too!

Don't mind them and clean up.

This is why you're not married yet.

What did you say?

This is your first mission.

Yeo Woon's with you, so nothing should go wrong.

But I can't help worrying sending you alone.

Nothing will happen.

Don't worry too much.

You really underestimate us.

"Escort traders on their expedition"?

There will be an apprentice Buddhist nun

in the Chinese traders' group.

[Samini: Female nun who has received 10 precepts before becoming Buddhist nun]

You should escort her

safely to Cheongamsa temple.

Is there a chance someone will attack them?

We can't know that.

All you have to do is escort her safely.

Do you understand me?

Yes, sir.

A Buddhist nun?

[Hwang Jinjoo]

Wait!

Those brats...

Stop!

Let's go!

You have unusual hand techniques.

Would you like to learn?

She's like an angel.

She looks like the queen of the underworld to me.

What?

Don't talk about my future wife like that.

Why are you following me like a rat?

I came to fight you, old man!

Let's send a fake assassin and put on act. Is that it?

Do you know it's a felony to attack a Chinese convoy?

I heard the swordmaster has returned.

How about it? Do you want to try your skills?
