The criminal Kim Kwangtaek allowed

the traitor to escape and concealed the fact.

According to the royal command,

he will be beheaded.

The traitor’s son will die by boiling.

Spare us, please!

Spare us!

Aren’t you going to proceed?

Stop!

His Highness commands the criminal

Kim Kwangtaek to be spared.

To save the baby, I will offer one of my arms.

If I can’t even save an innocent baby’s life, of what use is one of my arms?

Please forgive me. This is all because I’m unworthy.

You’re the foundation of this country.

Please be strong.

We have come this far with such difficulty.

I won’t be satisfied with one of his arms.

Send a message to the Black Assassins.

Excuse me?

Our chance has come. Do you understand?

Kwangtaek!

Get up!

Aren’t you the father of one who cut off my friend’s arm?

Let’s go!

I-I-I deserve to die. Please spare my life.

Be quiet, you scoundrel!

First, treat my friend’s arm and then save the baby.

Don't just save his life, but make him whole.

Otherwise, I’ll twist all of your limbs. Do you understand?

Yes, sir.

[Heuksa Chorong (Black Assassins Guild)]

The swordmaster...

It's reported he's lost an arm.

[In (Heuksa Chorong Master of Men)]

The zither sounds lonely on a cold night.

That a white apricot flower blooms in that winter landscape...

[Ji (Heuksa Chorong Master of Earth)] You two really are a match made in heaven.

[Chun (Heuksa Chorong Master of Sky)]

Ah, that's right...

I'm not sure you've heard the news.

They say the swordmaster lost an arm.

This is incredible!

How are you more surprised to hear

the swordmaster lost his arm than when he defeated me?

He's making me jealous.

Lord Hong Daejoo is asking for you.

That is the price for

the swordmaster’s life.

With that much, you won’t regret it.

Kwangtaek’s life is quite expensive.

And get rid of Baek Sagoeng’s newborn baby.

Lord, it seems you’re asking the wrong person.

As if plotting behind his back wasn’t enough...

Now you’re asking me to kill his newborn baby...

Do I look that trifling to you?

You couldn't possibly be thinking of breaking our agreement.

Agreement? Agreement...

Different people call it different things.

Would the heavens' Lord Hong even care about an agreement with me?

Do you really mean it?

You be the judge. I will take my leave then.

That temper of his... I want to pound it down in a mortar.

Lord, as you know, I'm a man of etiquette.

Haven’t we been friends long enough to understand each other?

I will receive your gift.

Of all the metals, gold is the most delicious.

Will his twisted bones straighten out?

I don’t know. I’m not sure whether it’ll work.

But we have no other choice.

For how long does he need to wear this bamboo support?

If it's a short time, for a few months. If it's a long time, for his entire life.

Fortunately, his bones haven’t hardened yet.

He should improve with this.

[Swordmaster Kim Kwangtaek (Most skilled swordsman in Joseon)]

I hear you’ll be leaving immediately.

Lord Hong isn’t one to leave any smoke behind him.

He cut off my arm. Next time he’ll tear my head from my neck.

I suppose you have no reason to remain in Joseon.

So I'm taking Dongsoo with me.

What?

He’s the son of Sagoeng who Lord Hong hated.

He won’t leave him alone because he's an infant.

But how will you take care of a baby in your condition?

I’ll be fine.

So do you plan to return to your hometown?

Yes, there's nothing for me here.

I'm going to leave right away.

Then why don’t you stop at Chosang's house on your way back home?

Chosang's house?

I heard he just had a child in his old age.

Shouldn't we send our greetings?

You can give him your greeting in person...

Alright. What will you do?

Are you going to leave right now?

I can’t promise anything, so don’t wait for me.

Give my best to His Highness.

Yes, sir.

Give me the child.

It's so sad, I'm just speechless.

How did you lose your arm?

What are you doing here?

I didn’t come to take your life, so don’t worry.

What’s that in your arm?

You don’t need to know.

You’re unsociable.

Just keep this in mind.

I’ll always be waiting for you to have another duel.

Anytime.

The liquor has a fine taste.

Hey, Kwangtaek!

Do you really have to take that road?

Be careful!

There’ll be another friend who's come to greet you.

What’s the matter?

Without an arm, are you not as good as you used to be?

Shall I lend you one of my arms?

I’ll have to cut it off. It'll hurt a lot.

No, I don’t want to...

Why don’t you put down that baby you're holding?

To deal with scum like you, one arm is more than enough!

What is this?

Chosang!

Chosang!

Who is it? Aren’t you Daepo?

Just what happened?

[Yeo Chosang]

Don't even ask.

Just because I owe them some money,

these scoundrels beat me up as if I was some mutt...

Here, this should be more than enough.

Let’s go, Chosang!

Killer's instinct?

[Salseong: Bad omen that brings death]

Are you saying that your child

was born with the instinct of a killer?

He was born with a killer's instinct. The most vicious kind.

Really!

Who in the world is born with a killer's instinct?

Don’t be superstitious. You dishonor your name.

Dishonor my name?

That’s all in the past.

I, Yeo Chosang, may not be greater in martial arts like Kwangtaek.

However, I can read a person’s fate accurately.

Shame on you!

Our Kwangtaek lost his arm without committing any offense!

Did something happen to him?

Never mind...

Just nurse your wounds.

Stop drinking!

Keep drinking and we'll have your funeral sooner than later.

You rascal...

My name is Yeo Chosang, Chosang!

That hits the spot.

He was born with the instinct of a killer.

If he lives, he's destined to spill blood.

You little, you shouldn’t have been born...

I don’t know why you were born my son.

But I gave you my seed, so I’ll take your life myself.

He's already started to bring death.

Do you see it?

It's your fate to have been born with the instinct of a killer.

By your death, many lives will be spared.

So don’t blame your father!

How does this newborn baby not even cry?

Even if he cries...

He must know he has no parents to look after him.

He has clear eyes.

Is it alright for you to be here like this?

How would he look at me when he’s older?

Would he still look at me with such clear eyes?

Gaok!

Probably not.

He’ll probably look at me with eyes full of hatred and contempt.

Won’t you go to China with me?

Could I really do that?

How could I dare dream of such happiness?

Your desire to be with me, your forgiving heart,

your sincerity... I’ll never forget.

Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.

Where is he? Check it out!

[Hwang Jinki]

Where are you?

You call yourself the swordmaster and pull a cheap trick like this?

Shame on you!

You’re so cowardly! What an ill-mannered man you are!

Have mercy!

Do you have any last words?

I do! Please let me live!

Forgiving you once is more than enough!

I throw my sword down. Let me live!

Swordmaster!

How can the swordmaster take the life a weaponless man?

That’s just despicable!

You’re nothing but trash!

Swordmaster! Have mercy!

Get going.

Since you told me to go, I’ll go!

Dongsoo.

Dongsoo! Dongsoo!

Dongsoo!

Dongsoo!

Baek Sagoeng...

Was there only the baby?

Yes.

That’s not possible. Was he really alone?

Then what happened to him?

[Shaolin Temple]

[12 years later]

[Baek Dongsoo]

Jump!

What's the matter? Are you scared?

If you’re scared, just forget it.

Wait!

Promise me first.

If I jump, you have to accept me as one of you.

Yeah, I told you.

How many times do I have to say it?

Boss!

Boss! Dongsoo is...

Dongsoo, Dongsoo!

Where is he? Dongsoo!

Dongsoo!

Dongsoo! Wake up!

Woon!

This little brat...

[Yeo Woon]

You rotten brat, didn’t I forbid you from practicing the sword!

Here.

Brat, do you regret being born?

Be grateful to be alive... Hurry up and eat!

If you catch pneumonia, we don't even have medicine.

I can’t even run or eat by myself. What do I have to be grateful for?

I shouldn’t have been born.

Isn't it true?

Don’t ever say that again!

So what?

What do you want from me?

I can’t even eat with spoon. What is there that I can do?

If I have to live like this, I’d rather die like my father.

Dongsoo, I’ll promise you just one thing.

At least...

I won’t let you die like him.

Wait a minute. Isn’t that brat Yeo Woon?

That's him!

What's he doing?

- But did you guys know? - What?

His father killed his mother.

Didn’t you tell me Mom died giving birth to me?

Tell me the truth.

Did you really kill Mom?

Did you? Did you kill Mom?

That’s right. I killed her.

So what? What did I do wrong?

What’s your name?

I'm going for it...

Don’t miss it this time.

What the?

Just ignore him.

Do you want to die?

What the?

What's the matter? Try and stab me.

His father's a murderer. I'll bet like father like son.

Wait and see. We won't let you off.

What is your name?

I asked you what your name is.

Does it hurt?

It was useless doing that.

Are you the son of Yeo?

Go home now.

What?

You don’t want to go back to your father’s house?

Then do you want to come with me?

Do what your heart tells you to.

[Heuksa Chorong]

He’s the son of Shin Chang.

Teach him well.

- Eat it.- I don’t want to.

Nothing is sadder than being hungry. Go ahead and eat.

I don’t want to...

Then don’t eat. It's your loss.

That little...

Dongsoo, eat.

No, I don’t want to.

Welcome.

Why don’t you play with them?

Bamboo boy, do you want to join us?

What are you doing? I told you come to join us.

I guess you can’t, huh?

I didn’t know bamboo boy could throw a fist!

Leave him alone!

If you see a sick friend, you should help!

- What are you doing? - Rotten girl, how dare you...

Let go!

Do you want to get humiliated by a rotten girl?

I won’t bother him anymore.

I’ll pay you back someday!

Isn’t Heuksamo your father?

Let’s be friends...

This is quite a lot...

From a rough estimate, it’ll take a month at least.

That’s fine. It doesn't matter how long it takes.

Please take care of it.

The girl who was with you, is she your daughter?

Her name is Jinjoo.

Jinjoo?

What a pretty name!

Come on in...

Samo, who is she?

She’ll be staying here for a month. So get to know each other.

The aristocrats who lost their fortune will be looking for us.

So add caution to caution.

Don’t worry. We're old hands at this.

With this, we won’t go hungry for a while.

Thank you as always.

I’ll pay you a generous fee. So please sell get a good price for them.

Don’t worry.

Everyone take their share, then get going.

Dongsoo!

It's been a long time. Stand up.

You risk your life every time you come here.

No.

To handle the stolen goods, I had to make the trip.

Or...

I take it everything is fine. Be careful always.

[Scimitar of Hyojong]

[Im Soowoong (Military Drillmaster)]

Your Highness.

Isn’t this our old coin?

[Crown Prince Sado]

However, this is not an ordinary coin. It’s clearly left by King Hyojong.

Sangpyeong Tongbo. Its ideogram means:

“A treasure always valued and widely used.”

But interpreted differently it also means,

“Continue to conquer and pacify the world.”

Hyojong engraved here his unfulfilled dream of conquering the north.

It has another secret of more importance.

This coin is the key to recovering the northern military campaign plan.

Your Highness!

Did you say the northern campaign plan?

[Seorisang: frost, woeroeulgo: lonely]

Have a look.

These two characters are the very clue.

Northern military campaign plan?

Are you sure the Crown Prince

really said that?

Yes, that’s what I heard.

He also said there was some kind of clue

to recovering the northern military campaign plan...

- A clue? - Yes.

But I didn’t get to hear the rest, unfortunately.

Lord, wasn’t he talking about the rumored northern campaign plan?

It's certain.

But Lord, what exactly is the northern military campaign plan?

How many types of poisons are there?

Snake, fire, food, fish and smoke poison.

How many snake poisons are there?

Short-tailed viper, red-tongued viper, Korean magpie viper...

The Korean magpie viper is...?

The Korean magpie viper is 30 centimeters long.

It weighs 600 grams.

It’s gray yellow with an arrow pattern on the head.

It has a black stripe pattern on its body.

Do I have to continue?

If you get bitten, cut the bite and draw the blood.

And put minced dandelion roots or purslane leaves on your wound or drink them.

Continue?

There are more than 649 species of medicinal herbs in Korea.

He really is a genius.

Who does he take after to be so smart?

It’s definitely not me.

Is it not yet?

He still has 15 minutes left.

Do you know the meaning of having a real sword in your hand?

Are you smiling?

You must be one or the other.

You're either crazy or a genius, aren’t you?

Keep this in mind.

An assassin must not have the slightest hesitation.

Do you know what that means?

Yes.

Kid, you still have one last test.

What do you think it is?

To assassinate the person you most cherish and love.

Gotcha.

So who is that person to you?

It’s my father.

Your father?

This...

This is my favorite tragedy, father and son killing each other.

Come in, hurry up.

Hey, sit, sit.

You guys, this frog.

Do you know how to cook a frog?

How?

First, hit it until it’s stunned. And break its legs.

And put the skewer in the body. Then put it on the fire.

Fire!

Fire...!

What did you say?

There’s a fire. And Jinjoo is still in there.

What did you say?

Help!

Help! Is someone there?

Jinjoo!

Dongsoo!

Are you okay?

You rascal... Is it Woon?

It's Woon, right?

It is Woon.

You brat, where have you been?

I tried to stop it, but you ended up being a killer.

I can’t change the past.

But I’ll erase the killer in you by cutting off your life.

This is all your fault.

My fault? You’re wrong.

This is all because you were born a killer.

It’s all your fault.

Even now, you'll die by my hand...

I wasn’t born to be a killer. That’s not true!

You brat... It’s for the best.

I was destined to die anyway.

So...

So I must be your first and last victim, do you understand?

No, don't die. Don't die!

I was ordered not to leave a scratch on your royal body.

But I have no choice.

Stop!

We have 50 candidates here in Jangyongwye.

There may be 50 or none of you

who can complete the training and leave this place.

I’ll need to take at least one of his arms with me.

You dared leave a scar on my sacred body...

Dongsoo!

Is your name Dongsoo?

Keep a watchful eye on him.

He's someone you’ll need to defeat one day.

Little brat...!
