[Episode 30]

Head Merchant...

Young Miss Shin Hye has kidnapped that wench, Ok Nyeo.

What?

- Sister-in-law. - What is the matter?

Shin Hye locked away that wench, Ok Nyeo.

What? Shin Hye did?

Yes.

Where is she? Lead me there immediately.

Yes.

Miss, why are you doing this to me?

You! What is your relationship with Captain Seong Ji Heon.

Pardon?

I asked what is your relation to him that you're in around him!

Shin Hye.

Mother.

What are you doing?

Mother, this isn't something for you to concern yourself with.

I asked what are you doing!

The reason that Captain Sung changed his mind is all this wench's fault.

I won't let this wench get away with it.

Please! Please get a hold of yourself.

Mother...

Take Shin Hye out.

- Yes, Sister-in-law. - Let's go.

I don't want to. Mother. Mother!

- Hurry up! - Let go! Mother! Mother!

You and I have some wretchedly tenacious ties.

I can't just leave someone like you, an obstacle in the way of my every step, alone.

Let's... end things here.

- Sister-in-Law. - What is the matter?

What do you mean that the herbal medicine was hijacked? Who would dare?

We have been unable to confirm who was behind it.

First go back to the company. I must find out the events in detail.

Yes.

Madam, what shall I do with that wench?

Kill her.

Take care of it cleanly.

Yes, Head Merchant.

It's here. There's a storage shed behind it. That's where Ok Nyeo is held captive.

Ma'am, you wait here.

Who's there!

Ok Nyeo! Ok Nyeo!

What happened?

On the way back from receiving the medicine at Samgye ports,

we were suddenly ambushed by men who were waiting for us.

We mobilized with the least number of men possible in order to avoid being seen,

but we ended up having the medicines snatched from us in a moment. I'm sorry.

If they were waiting in hiding, it means they knew beforehand there would be a transaction tonight.

We must have someone within our business who leaked out the information.

How are you guys doing your work so shabbily?

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry.

You must find out who did this.

Yes, Ma'am.

I told your men to kill that girl, Ok Nyeo.

I don't know if they did it at Gahyedong House.

Don't worry, Ma'am. They are not that dumb.

They would take care of such matter after dragging her to Surak Mountain.

There won't be any trouble.

What am I going to do?

Sir! Sir!

Do Chi Hyungnim! Dae Gil! Is no one here?

Where are they?

Sir.

How did it go? It was a success.

Good job. You worked well.

But who are they?

They are members of the Chilpae Market that helped us with this matter.

Greet the head merchant.

Gi Hong Bae. Yoon Jong Soo.

But where is the medicine you snatched from them?

We are having it moved to the secret storage house inside Chilpae Market.

Your identities aren't exposed, are they?

Don't worry about that.

Hand the medicine to the medicine peddlers in Hanyang as soon as it's daylight.

You must move in secret so our company is not exposed.

Yes, Sir.

But where's Ok Nyeo?

Ok Nyeo can't be reached right now.

What? Can't be reached?

She's not at the Rites Bureau. Her whereabouts is a puzzle.

It can't be that she's in some trouble?

That's not likely so don't worry.

What's the matter?

Ok Nyeo has been kidnapped.

What do you mean? Ok Nyeo has been kidnapped?

Jung Nan Jung kidnapped Ok Nyeo.

I tried to go save Ok Nyeo at the Gahyedong House where Jung Nan Jung is.

Ok Nyeo was already gone, disappeared.

Her whereabouts are unknown.

You must find her no matter what happens. You must.

Hyungnim! Tae Won Hyungnim!

You're here.

Big trouble!

Jung Nan Jung is trying to kill Ok Nyeo right now.

- What are you talking about? - She's being dragged to Surak Mountain.

If we don't hurry and save her, Ok Nyeo will die!

Let's go.

Sungnim.

You're here.

Did you take care of that girl, Ok Nyeo?

Not yet.

What?

It's a waste to just kill that girl, right?

Bastard!

Stop the nonsense. You don't know how good her martial arts are, to be saying this crap!

I'm sorry.

Go and drag her here.

I thought about it and you and I have quite a history of bad blood.

You and I have no reason to bear bad blood.

All this is due to Jung Nan Jung.

Don't ruin your life with some foolish judgement.

You're right. You're right, but

I'm down to barely surviving under Madame Jung Nan Jung.

I have no choice.

After you die, take your blame on Lord Yoon Won Hyung or Madame Jung Nan Jung.

I'm just their underling.

Be careful!

Are you alright?

Did you create the roster of criminals who will be released?

Yes, there are eight total. I have the roster.

No, there's no need.

Just report it to the Ministry of Justice and you take care of releasing them.

Yes, Sir.

Also, what about that inmate with the high fever?

Did he contract the plague?

No, he got a prescription and he's completely recovered.

Well, such ruckus over that plague or whatever...

But there isn't anyone ill with it.

That's the rumor going around town already.

Really? Jeez.

Hello there.

What is this now? Why are you coming in here?

Sir, give me a break once.

I was so shocked after seeing the plague patient.

What plague?

Does it even make sense that a constable of Jeonokseo would run away after seeing a sick inmate?

Get lost. I don't want to see your face. Get out.

Don't be like that. Take this.

What is this?

A talisman I got from a good fortuneteller.

Put that on like this. Like this.

Under your groin. They say it wards off plagues.

I got it for you after paying a high price for it.

Stick this here?

Under the groin area?

Why, I've never heard of such crap.

Yoo Jung Hui!

There's only one way to forgiveness for you.

What is that?

Go be with the inmates in the prison until the plague dies down.

- What? - Why? You can't?

If you can't, then take that robe off immediately.

Sir, why are you like that now?

That's too harsh.

That plague-like man.

At least for my sincerity...

It's this place.

Make way for the constable!

Get away!

Are you alright?

Alright.

Here. This is your room.

Go in, please.

If I stay here, I'll get sick for sure.

I'd love to take you to a big, clean room.

But the prison warden said specifically

to lock you in in the most crowded and mite-infested cell.

If you don't want it, just say it.

I'll go and tell the prison warden.

No, it's alright. Forget it.

Sir, have a good time.

Don't live your life like this.

Yes. Go in, please.

Get out of the way.

Get out of my way.

Out of my way.

Move aside.

Don't dust that.

Don't.

Don't scratch.

You're making me itchy, too. Don't scratch.

What happened? How could this happen?!

Yoon Won Hyung's daughter kidnapped me... and Jung Nan Jung tried to kill me.

Thank you for helping me.

Hyungnim! Shouldn't we report this to the Police Bureau immediately?

No... Jung Nan Jung will find a way to get out of it anyway.

The Police Bureau won't even believe me.

What are you talking about! You have Tae Won Hyungnim!

He saved you from death!

Even if they don't believe you, they won't dare turn their backs on our hyungnim!

Right?

I don't want to pressure him after saving my life.

I'll take revenge on her myself. Don't concern yourself with this.

You told me to show you and help you feel my sincerity, right? You will very soon.

Take care.

Hyungnim! Hyungnim!

What happened between you two? Why are you like this?

You and I have some wretchedly tenacious ties.

I can't just leave someone like you, an obstacle in the way of my every step, alone.

Let's end things... here and now.

Man Su!

Man Su! Hurry! Hurry!

- Why? - If you had gone in you would've died for sure.

We're no longer working with Dong Chang. Nope!

No? What happened?

It will take too long to explain. Just follow me.

Let's go.

Yeoju Daek! Is Man Ok here?

Aigoo, of course! Head in to the tavern room.

Aigoo! My nephew, Man Su! It's been such a long time? How have you been?

Does Chun Doong still beat you up?

I'm fine, Aunt. He doesn't.

Good. Go on in!

Go on into the tavern room. And don't beat them up.

I won't!

Oh, and Chun Doong.

A moment ago, Dong Chang's cronies were out looking for you.

Looking for me?

Dang it. Got it.

Head on in.

We're in trouble... Whoa!

Who's this?

Wow!

How do I look? Do I look like a gisaeng?

Wow, Noona, you're really pretty!

Wow, I can't even recognize you. Are you really Man Ok?

No, I'm Myung Sun.

I went to Sosoroo and they gave me a new name, Myung Sun!

Wow! Myung Sun, Myung Sun!

Should we try calling you that? Myung Sun...

Myung Sun Noona...

Oh! Did you find anything out yet?

No, not yet. I haven't begun serving any guests yet, so I haven't heard anything new.

Oh! You know sir Yoon Tae Won!

Tae Won? What about him?

You said he liked Ok Nyeo, right?

Yep, he does.

But it seemed like he was sharing the same bed with head gisaeng Lee So Jung at Sosoroo!

What? Are you sure? Don't you dare lie to me.

I'm not!

Huh? That can't be!

Have you heard any news yet?

I sent them a message, but I have yet to receive a reply.

I apologize, but could you try messaging them again? It's just that this is an urgent matter.

Got it.

Good. Let's use this one.

Show me the other one.

Huh! Ok Nyeo!

Sir!

Hey! Do you even know how much everyone was worried about you and looking for you?

You weren't at the Rites Bureau nor your house! We were worried sick!

Sorry. Something came up.

Let's head in. Sir Sung is waiting for you!

Oh, of course.

Sir! Ok Nyeo is here.

What happened to you?

I'm sorry.

No, I'm glad that you're safe. Have a seat.

Yes, sir.

Ok Nyeo! We managed to smuggle Jung Nan Jung's medicinal herbs.

What?

We found out that Jung Nan Jung's medicinal herbs were coming into the Samgye ports,

and Woo Chi and Dae Gil smuggled them right out!

Right about now, the medicinal herbs should be being sold all across Hanyang at a very cheap price.

Doesn't that put us at risk of exposing ourselves?

Don't worry about that. I had no way to contact you, so I had to call the shots on my own this time. Please understand.

No, you did great considering the atrocious things Jung Nan Jung plotted at the cost of the lives of the people.

I wish nothing more than to expose every detail of Jung Nan Jung's schemes and have her punished,

but I can't think of a way at this time.

I am searching for ways right now. Please wait a bit longer.

Oh yes, yes.

He's looking for me often these days.

Sir!

You were looking for me, sir?

Did you distribute the medicinal herbs into the market?

Yes, sir.

After the inventory from the Ministry of Marketplace Order hit the vendors, the prices halved.

Then after 2 or 3 days, I suspect the prices will go back up.

How is Jung Nan Jung's trade company faring?

They are still selling at a very expensive price.

They should find out any day now that the Ministry of Marketplace Order released the medicinal herbs.

Thank you. You may leave.

Yes, sir.

Did you take care of the girl, Ok Nyeo?

I'm sorry, we let her escape.

She escaped? What do you mean?

That...

Tell me now!

We were going to drag her to Surak Mountain to kill her,

but Yoon Tae Won appeared and saved her.

Yoon Tae Won did? How did he know to appear there?

We haven't figured that part out yet.

What is his relationship with Ok Nyeo that he appeared there?

Nan Jung! Have you heard?

Oh, what is it this time?

The medicinal herbs for the cure are being sold in great abundance in the marketplace!

So the prices are plummeting!

So the herbs we were robbed of last night have already hit the vendors?

No, no. It was the Ministry of Marketplace Order that released the herbs.

They released all the herbs they had stocked up for use of the Royal Doctors.

If it's from the Ministry of Marketplace Order, then it was Yoon Tae Won who released the herbs?

Yes, it seems so.

Yoon Tae Won, that bastard...

What is it this time?

That punk Yoon Tae Won has finally shown his true colors!

What do you mean?

- Last night, when I locked that wench Ok Nyeo up— - You did what?

That wench interferes with my every move. So I was planning on getting rid of her.

Then Yoon Tae Won saved her!

Tae Won did?

Not only that, Yoon Tae Won released medicinal herbs through the Ministry of Marketplace Order.

The value of our herbs has halved as a result!

He pretended to back down and become one of us

while he has been sharpening his dagger toward me!

Tae Won must have had a good reason for it.

Why would he have saved Ok Nyeo then?

Why do I need to concern myself with his personal affairs?

No matter what you say, Daegam, I cannot forgive him.

By doing so he not only went against me, but you and Queen Dowager!

So what do you want me to do?

You should tell the Queen Dowager about how wicked he is!

She must know.

So you're telling me to inform on my own son?

This is all your fault for trusting Yoon Tae Won and handing him power and authority.

You must expose his true face to Queen Dowager and punish him severely!

Cut the nonsense and leave if you're going to go on about this.

If you won't, then should I go tell her myself?

Go for it! Do whatever you want!

Daegam!

Jong Geum!

Your Highness, Jung Nan Jung is here.

Escort her in.

Yes, Your Highness.

Have a seat.

What brings you here?

I had something to inform you of, Your Highness.

Go ahead.

The herbs that were being sold at a high prices were halved in value overnight.

How so?

Before I could even prepare your personal funds,

Yoon Tae Won ruined everything.

What about Yoon Tae Won?

Yoon Tae Won released the herbs that were being reserved for the Royal Physicians.

Because of that, we lost our monopoly over the necessary medicinal herbs

and so the price plummeted.

Is that true?

Yes, Your Highness.

Why would he do that?

Your Highness, I haven't been able to tell you this before,

but Yoon Tae Won has always

planned a revenge against me and Daegam for the sake of his mother and himself.

Now that he has a government position,

and it seemed like he was putting aside his hostility towards me,

I also began considering him as my own son, and that was the cause of this catastrophe.

In obeying your orders and helping us

he was merely preparing for a bigger revenge.

Is Court Lady Kim outside?

Yes, Your Highness.

Call for the Administrator of the Ministry of Marketplace Order Yoon Tae Won immediately.

Yes, Your Highness.

Sir!

What is it?

We received a message that Queen Dowager is urgently looking for you.

Got it.

I heard you released the herbs from the Ministry of Marketplace Order in the marketplace.

Because of that, the herbs Jung Nan Jung had

were halved in its value. Did you know that already?

Yes, Your Highness.

What was your intention in doing so?

Have you been deceiving me to seek revenge on Nan Jung?

- No, Your Highness. - Shut your mouth!

You think I am not aware of the many times you mistreated Nan Jung in the past?

Your Highness, if you are angered by the hinderance in amassing your personal funds,

I have already prepared the necessary funds.

50,000 nyang, Your Highness.

You plan on deceiving me to the very end, huh?

Do you think I would let you off the hook if you handed me money?

Your Highness, please hear me out.

Did you know that in the marketplace... there is a rumor

that the plague is not even a plague at all?

The people are already talking amongst themselves that

the plague was all Jung Nan Jung's ruse to sell off herbs at a high price.

With their sentiments being such, if Madam's trade company continues to monopolize medicinal herb sales,

the rumors will just get worse.

It will also have a negative effect on Yoon Won Hyung Daegam and you, Your Highness.

Therefore,

I released the herbs.

It was merely to appease the people's suspicions and to prevent possible uproar

and nothing more.

Please trust me, Your Highness.

Even if you are telling the truth,

you were wrong to do so without even a word to me.

Make sure that such a thing never happens again.

Yes, Your Highness.

Your Ladyship.

How did it go? Did you find Ok Nyeo?

Yes, Your Ladyship. She is alive.

You needn't worry about her anymore.

That's a relief... a relief, indeed!

Where is Ok Nyeo right now?

I heard she is at the Taoist Temple.

I got it.

Administrative Scholar!

What is it?

A Court Lady from the king's palace is here to meet you.

Her ladyship? Please escort her in.

Yes, ma'am.

What brings you all the way to the Rites Bureau?

Let's have a seat first.

Yes, Your Ladyship.

I heard you went through an ordeal last night.

How are you?

I'm good.

How did you find out about it?

Is it true that Jung Nan Jung tried to kill you?

It's alright. Tell me what happened.

Between Jung Nan Jung and I...

We have incredibly bad blood between us.

With Daegam Yoon Won Hyung,

she killed my teacher who was like a father to me.

She then framed me

and made me into a government slave.

She found out that I was back in the capital from the Haeju Provincial Office

and wanted to kill me off for good.

If she finds out that you are alive,

she will try to harm you yet again.

Yes, probably.

But don't worry, Your Ladyship.

I won't just sit here taking everything.

I will make sure she pays for her sins.

When I met you last time

you asked me who killed you mother

and why, right?

Yes, Your Ladyship.

I think the time has come for me to tell you.

As I told you last time, your mother Gap Ee and I

were the best of friends.

Geum Ok!

Come here.

Look.

Tadah!

Wow, it looks tasty!

I brought it for you.

Really?

Thank you.

From the time we were little we were separated from our families.

We grew up depending on one another.

We were more than friends,

but real sisters.

Go Bok!

This is from the crown prince's birthday banquet!

I saved some for you, so don't share it with anyone else, okay?

I won't, thank you!

What's this?

It was given as a gift from the Crown Prince to all the palace maids in his quarters.

It's really pretty.

Do you want to have one each?

No, no.

I hear that splitting a pair of twin jade rings brings bad luck.

You keep them, Gap Ee.

You're lucky! You get to serve the tall and handsome crown prince!

How could a king's palace maid envy the crown prince's palace maid?

The king's quarters is only full of old-fashioned talk.

Can I try them on?

They're pretty!

Gap Ee...

was always bright and pretty.

But then...

that bright and chattery Gap Ee

one day ceased to talk

or smile.

When I heard that Gap Ee was sick,

and went to the crown prince's palace maids' quarters,

she was sallow from her illness.

Gap Ee!

Stay in bed.

Geum Ok...

What is troubling you?

Geum Ok... what should I do?

What is the matter?

Geum Ok...

Gap Ee never told me what was wrong.

One day I received an urgent message from Gap Ee to meet up.

I waited deep into the night, but Gap Ee never appeared.

That night, Gap Ee ran away from the palace.

Why? What for?

I didn't even know. But not too long after, I was dragged away just because I had been close with Gap Ee.

There I saw Daegam Yoon Won Hyung.

Where is that wench? Tell me where she ran off to!

I don't know! I really don't, Daegam!

You want to die?

Please spare me! Please spare me! I really don't know!

Tell me!

Please spare me... Daegam...

I narrowly survived,

but I heard that Yoon Won Hyung was chasing after Gap Ee with the help of some mercenaries.

Then... Yoon Won Hyung Daegam... killed my mother?

Yes. If Gap Ee was stabbed to death,

then it would be at the hands of Yoon Won Hyung's assassins.

Why? Why did he kill Mother?

I don't know that, either.

Crown Prince rose to the throne and died only eight months after that.

And after that, all the palace maids at the crown prince's quarters began to die mysterious deaths, one by one.

Even if you search with all your might, you won't be able to meet any of those palace maids. They're all dead!

They're dead?

I found a Court Lady and found she was dead!

So I thought... yeah, she's elderly so she could be dead. Then I began to search out the palace maids.

But EVERY person was dead!

They weren't even old or anything, but all of them were dead!

This... I don't know what it is, but there definitely something fishy behind all this.

There were rumors that the palace maids died at the hands of Yoon Won Hyung and Jung Nan Jung.

In the end, all the palace maids from the crown prince's quarters died.

Court Lady Min, the lady you met, is the lone survivor.

Your mother, Gap Ee, was killed by Daegam Yoon Won Hyung.

What crime did my mother commit to have come into Jeonokseo?

What do you mean?

Your mother wasn't an inmate.

Not an inmate? Then why did she have me at Jeonokseo?

I was sleeping that night and Clerk Ji woke me up.

I followed her and found your mother about to give birth

but stabbed and bleeding heavily.

It looked like she was about to pass away any moment, but her water had already broken and the baby was about to come out!

I helped with your birth without a moment to gather my thoughts!

Immediately after she gave birth to you

your mother passed away.

Your mother didn't die giving birth to you.

She died because of the stab wound.

As for your mother's name,

and who killed your mother... I don't know that, either.

That night, I found your mother stabbed and unconscious in front of Jeonokseo

and brought her in where she had you.

Aigoo... what can be done

In the midst of it all, your mother died.

Aigoo, I feel so wronged!

This was left by your mother.

Where is my mother's grave?

I'm ashamed to tell you this...

but she doesn't have a grave site. I had to wrap everything up in secret

so I threw her body with the other corpses.

There were rumors that the palace maids had all died at the hands of Jung Nan Jung and Yoon Won Hyung.

In the end, all the palace maids and court ladies from the crown prince's quarters died,

and Court Lady Min, who you met, is the lone survivor.

Your mother, Gap Ee, was killed by Daegam Yoon Won Hyung.

Yoon Won Hyung's daughter kidnapped me and Madam Jung Nan Jung tried to kill me.

Your Majesty, the Minister of General Affairs Yoon Won Hyung and the Head of Rites Jung Sang Ho is here.

Let them enter.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

What brings you here?

We heard that you were praying day and night

on behalf of the people that have been taken by the plague. How tired you must be.

Your Majesty, we have also been joining you in our wishes

and praying to the heavens to take away the plague.

The people are harrowed by my lack of integrity as a king,

and yet all I can to is pray and that pains me.

How is the plague looking?

I'm sorry to inform you,

but the plague is not looking like it's dying down at all.

The general hospital is taking on ten to twenty new patients a day.

I'm the Administrator of the Ministry of Marketplace Order, Yoon Tae Won.

I wish to meet with His Majesty. Please announce me.

His Majesty is secluding himself from the outside world and focusing on his prayers.

I know that. If he hears that I am here for him, he will meet me.

Wait a moment then.

What brings you here?

Your Majesty... I have something I must discuss with you.

I apologize, but please give us some privacy.

Please step outside.

But Your Majesty... it is very irreverent to step outside during a prayer.

I told you to step outside!

Yes, Your Majesty...

Well then. What is it you have to say?

As you see, I'm in the middle of prayers and cannot meet with you for long.

Your Majesty, you need not pray anymore.

What do you mean by that?

What is ailing the people right now... is not a plague.

What did you just say? What are you trying to say?

The plague was fabricated by Madam Jung Nan Jung.

Do you have... evidence for that claim?

Yes, Your Majesty.

What the people are recovering from is treatment for flu and fever.

The flu?

Then... the people aren't plagued, they are merely diseased?

Yet they have deceived me and told me it is a plague?

Yes, Your Highness.

It's a sickness, deceptively claimed by them as a plague, that can be cured by taking some medicinal herbs.

Exactly why...

Exactly why would they resort to such a cruel tactic? What is the reason?

There are two reasons.

Hurry up and tell me.

One reason is to raise the funds needed for the privy purse for rebuilding the Bongeunsa Temple.

Since a long time ago, Madam Jung Nan Jung has been buying up the medicinal herbs that are remedies for the diseases.

Since the proliferation of the plague rumor, Your Highness has been known to have undergone rites to pray to the heavens,

and the price of the herbs has been rising rapidly.

What is the second reason?

That is... making use of the plague rumor, to restrict Your Highness inside this side palace for- ...

That's enough!

That's enough. You don't have to say anymore.

Your Highness, that's not all.

In regards to Ok Nyeo with whom Your Highness is acquainted, Madam Jung Nan Jung

has even kidnapped Ok Nyeo with the intent to kill her.

What did you say? Is that the truth?

- Your Highness. - Move aside.

You can't be like this.

Until the appointed date, you must remain in your quarters and pray...

Shut up!

If you want to stay alive, move aside immediately!

Sir, you are here.

Why are you looking for me?

Regarding this plague, I have some news to tell, Sir.

What is it?

About that, let's go inside to talk.

Alright.

Uh... uh... Excuse me, Yeoju Daek... (she is from Yeoju so is called that as females were just noted by their affiliation)

- Extravagantly set our table with the cloud liquor. - Yes, sir.

Supervisor Yang Sir, please go inside.

Why is she like this?

Sick.

What a heartless man!

Tell me, what is the matter?

Sir, do you know Dong Chang?

I do. Isn't he the thug who works under Madam Jung Nan Jung? Why talk about him suddenly?

Weren't there many cows and horses that died after vomiting blood?

There were.

That seemed, somehow, to be done by Dong Chang.

What?

The night, before the cows and horses vomited blood and died, someone saw Dong Chang and his men tampering with them.

- Are you sure? - Yes.

- Eun Soo. - My gosh!

Why are you so scared?

Aren't you infected by the plague? Are you allowed to come to this place?

Hey, it's not that I caught the plague, but because my village had been infected I couldn't come. Okay?

However, everything has been taken care of smoothly.

Still, we can't be sure.

Are you contagious and likely to transfer the plague to our merchant group?

Hey! It's not like that!

But, is Head Merchant inside?

Work hard.

Why did he come here!

Head Merchant!

Do Chi, let me see, how did you get out?

I was able to come because the quarantine was removed.

This... What exactly has happened?

Head Merchant, take a seat first.

Alright. Alright.

Ok Nyeo brought a physician there to treat the sick peasants.

Once the medicine for the plague was consumed, the sick peasants all recovered.

Even my mother immediately recovered after drinking the medicinal soup.

Even the rope tying off the entrance to the Police Bureau was untied.

In that case, it wasn't a plague, right?

Yes, I think the Police Bureau has made a mistake.

What mistake? It's because you've been restricted in there, that's why you don't know...

Hey! Even the king performed rites because a plague was raging in the capital.

On top of that they performed rites in the streets and the price of herbal medicine skyrocketed.

It was a real big fuss!

What?

Right now, the plague has surfaced in the village where Do Chi lives.

Police Bureau guards have cordoned off the village. There's no way to know if Do Chi is dead or alive.

Tae Won, you... No matter how, please think of a way.

Whatever has happened, we should know if he's dead or alive!

It should be fine. You don't have to worry.

How do you know?

Looks like you don't even know what's happening out there now!

Hyungnim, I've said nothing would happen.

They know everything. Have they been messing around?

What do you mean?

Hyungnim! I'm telling you there won't be anything that'll go wrong!

I'm asking if there wasn't an ulterior motive to charge exorbitant prices for the medicine.

Aigoo! Until the Ministry of Marketplace Order released the medicine, only Jung Nan Jung's company had sold the appropriate medicine.

The prices were ridiculously expensive.

In that case, they must have made a lot of money.

What do you mean by that? Ministry of Marketplace Order has sold the medicinal herbs in the marketplace?

Are you saying that in the midst of this, Tae Won is even involved in the medicine trade?

That brat, he is really too cruel!

Your Highness, are you looking for me?

Jae Seo, go immediately to arrest and bring Jung Nan Jung here.

What? What do you mean by that?

Jung Nan Jung has falsely created the plague.

Also, using the proliferation of the plague, she has stocked up on the medicinal herbs and resold them at high prices.

Order Deputy Minister of Justice Kim Tae Jeong to throughly investigate the matter.

Yes, Your Highness.

By the way, when Your Highness was in your quarters, Ok Nyeo contacted you twice.

She said there's an urgent matter and needed to see Your Highness.

Alright, I got it. You may leave.

Yes, Your Highness.

So how is the King doing?

He was very concerned about the plague.

I believe things are turning the way you wish, Your Highness.

Captain of the Royal Guard Ki Choon Soo has arrived, Your Highness.

Have him enter.

So what's the matter?

Your Highness, the king has left his quarters.

Why, all of a sudden?

He just entered into the Royal Office and then ordered the Chief of the Royal Guards Han Jae Seo

to arrest Madam Jung Nan Jung for fabricating the plague.

What?

Your Highness!

King, what's happened?

You're having Nan Jung arrested?

Nan Jung fabricated the plague? That's a misunderstanding.

What scum said such nonsense?

Can you two mock me like this?

King!

Your Majesty!

Jung Nan Jung fabricated the plague.

And she sold the medicine she stored up in advance at a high price to build up her private fund.

I already know all about it.

Not only that, but she also used me, the King,

to rile up the people's agitation. I know all about it.

Your Majesty, where in the world did you hear such outrageous words?

That is just the evil plan of the wicked men who are trying to pull you and I apart.

Yes, Your Majesty. I don't know who framed Queen Dowager and me,

but it's not true, Your Majesty!

Shut up, you two!

How is it that you ignore me when I already know it all?

You tried to blind me and mock the nation.

What will it take before you come to your senses?

Your Majesty!

I will not just let this go.

Know that and leave now.

King!

- Your Majesty! - I said leave!

What brings you all the way here?

Is Madame Jung Nan Jung inside?

Hey, Nan Jung. Nan Jung...

Right now, the chief of the Palace Guards is here.

What brings him here?

He says to come outside to accept the king's order. It's serious.

What?

What are you doing here?

I received the King's order to escort you away right away.

What? Escort?

For what am I being escorted?

Crime of fabricating a plague and putting the market place in a state of disarray

after buying out all the medicine.

What did you say?

- Nan Jung. - Immediately!

Arrest Jung Nan Jung.

Step aside immediately!!

Arrest her immediately!

Where do you dare to put your hands!

Let's go.

Go alert the lord right away.

Yes. I got it.

Mother. Mother. Madame!

Mother!

Mother! Mother, what's happening?

It's nothing, so don't worry.

Mother!

Madame!

Arrest!

Let go of me.

Once Madame finds out about this, she won't let you scum off.

Let go.

This is a company that Madame Jung Nan Jung personally manages.

Just come along.

- What about Madam? - Nan Jung's being taken by the palace guards right now.

What?

Come.

Tae Won, did you hear? Jung Nan Jung has just been dragged off by the palace guards.

The Head Merchant Min Dong Ju was dragged away, too.

Do you know anything about it?

No.

Chief, Daegam Lee Joon Hui is looking for you.

Alright. I'll be back.

Sir, please tell me. You must know it.

I was behind it.

What?

I told the king it was Jung Nan Jung who fabricated the plague.

And the details of it.

Why did you do that? What if the Queen Dowager and Lord Yoon Won Hyung find out?

What will you do?

Weren't you the one to tell me to toughen up more if I set my goal to build up power?

This is what I have chosen as the way I see to get more power.

So don't worry.

Jung Nan Jung and Min Dong Ju of that company were dragged off by the palace guards.

What? For what?

It's my guess, but I think the Kingk

must have found out it was Jung Nan Jung who fabricated the plague.

How did the king find out about that?

Yes, Sir. Doesn't the king just stay at the palace?

Wasn't it Ok Nyeo who found out the details about the plague being a fabrication?

Ok Nyeo wouldn't have told the King about it.

I made the decision on my own since I couldn't reach you, so please be understanding.

Of course. To think that Jung Nan Jung even fabricated a plague

to bully the people... What you did was good.

I want to expose all of Jung Nan Jung's crimes and have her punished for them.

But for now, I can't think of a proper way.

I am looking for a way, so please wait a bit, Sir.

I don't see a way out for now.

You don't have any idea how the king found out?

I don't, Your Highness.

Sungnim.

- Ma'am. - Are you hurt anywhere?

Those bastards.

Why have you arrested me?

You should know that reason better than me.

I know nothing.

The company you run bought out medicines in advance.

Then you fabricated a plague to raise the medicine price. We have intelligence on that.

Who in the world said such nonsense?

I'm being framed by someone who's trying to harm me.

His Majesty has already found out everything.

Stop denying it and speak the truth.

I said I don't know it.

If you keep this up, I will have to use torture.

Are you threatening Madame right now?

Shut up and just answer what you're asked.

How dare you!

Do you think you will live after this?

Ok Nyeo.

Sir.

I heard you were looking for me.

Yes, Sir.

You have something you wish to say to me?

Yes, Sir.

There's something I didn't tell you.

There is another item your mother left behind.

What?

It is an opportunity to restructure the political balance of power. You must make use of this palace maid.

Someone must have reported it to the king.

You must find out who that was.

Isn't there something you wish to ask me

about that girl Ok Nyeo?

May I ask why you met Ok Nyeo?

You must not tell Ok Nyeo.

I found out who killed my mother.
