[Road Home]

[Episode 4]

[Lu Zheng Automobile Repair]

Brat,

do you think this is a hotel?

Come out!

Come out!

Come out!

Come out!

There's someone in my room!

Cut the crap. Come out!

There's really someone here!

My girlfriend is here.

Who do you think you are?

A girlfriend?

Is your mind still on the exam?

Lu.

- Lu! - Lu!

- Lu! - Lu!

- Bro. - Bro.

You can't scold him every day.

Let's go.

Let's have a chat.

Let's go.

If I don't scold him he won't grow up.

Alright, bro.

You only have one son.

You have to rely on him

to support you when you retire.

- Exactly. - What's there to

support when I retire?

I have a wife and my brothers.

- Don't say that. - Come out!

Let's go.

Lu Yanchen,

we’ll send your dad home first.

Just sleep

in the repair shop tonight.

Thanks, Uncle Liu.

You're welcome.

Take your time.

Come out later.

You took it for real?

No.

Don't take it to heart.

My dad always makes a fuss when he's drunk.

I'm afraid he'll come in and cause trouble.

It's okay.

I didn't think when I spoke just now.

That's what my uncle said last time

and managed to avoid a beating.

Your dad beats your uncle too?

Do you want to

have a seat on the sofa?

Okay.

How about

you give me a test paper to work on?

I can do some practices.

I got full marks for this paper.

Can I get another one?

You choose.

Okay.

How can you go with me?

You don't know how to drive.

I'll take you there by bike.

That bike?

It's small but it's still a vehicle.

Let me send you home.

Do you have a driver's license?

When did you get your license?

Last year.

The summer I didn't take Gaokao,

I happened to be of age so I took the driving test.

Let's go.

Oh right.

I need to get my bag.

Wait for me.

Get in.

Fasten your seat belt.

Lu Chen.

Are you going to repeat your senior year?

Do you want me to?

I registered this morning.

I will be going to classes tomorrow.

Really?

Hold on...

How did he know I live here?

Do you know?

Lu Chen is repeating the grade.

When?

He came today. He's in grade 12, class 7.

[Winter, 2008]

[Spring, 2009]

I heard when my brother first started repeating the year,

his dad kept picking a fight with him.

He's determined to be admitted somewhere

outside of Beijing this time.

He wants to stay away from his dad.

Lu Chen.

Please help us with the

sports day relay run.

Han Xiaole

sprained his ankle.

I can't run fast in these shoes.

We can't find shoes this last minute...

It's okay, we can combine our efforts.

The three of us run as hard as we can.

How about changing into sportswear?

You can wear this.

I can wear this.

He's so pretentious.

He just has to be dressed differently.

Exactly.

Lu Chen is so handsome.

Which class is he in? Do you know him?

I'm not sure.

Just because he's handsome,

you're going to turn against our class?

You have to cheer for our class.

Understand?

Fine.

Come on! Come on!

Lu Chen, come on!

Come on!

Go! Go! Go!

Go! Go! Go!

Lu Chen, you're amazing. You ran so fast.

Thanks.

Take a look at this question for me.

Let me see.

I'm here to deliver a message.

The snack store...

The snack store owner said

you took a pack of noodle snack this morning.

They told you to go pay for it

after school.

Got it.

I'm here to pay for the noodle snack

I took this morning.

Huh?

A girl has already paid for it.

She said

you won first place today.

It's on her.

Then I'll buy something else.

W-who left this?

I did.

Chen asked me to put it here.

He said you asked him to buy it for you.

Please thank him for me.

What?

He's just in class 7 next door.

You can thank him yourself.

Okay, fine.

I'll go.

Chen.

Gui Xiao says thank you.

Got it.

Help me tell her,

she's welcome.

[Nurse's Office]

You fell?

You're so mischievous.

You have to protect your face when you fall.

It'll be troublesome if your face is disfigured.

What should you do

if you scarred your face?

How did you fall?

Aren't you afraid of being disfigured?

Are you even trying to comfort me?

Does it hurt?

What if I get disfigured?

How did you fall?

I was just running my 800 meters run...

and was fooling with my classmates...

so I fell on the field.

Move aside.

You'll recover sooner or later. What are you afraid of?

You're not the one who's hurt.

If I can't recover, my face will be disfigured.

Stop laughing.

Did you get an injection?

That's fine then.

It doesn't matter whether you get disfigured or not.

Who says it doesn't matter?

Me.

Are you going home? It's not on your way.

I'll take you home.

Otherwise, you might not keep your eyes on the road

and hurt the other side of your face.

My home is far away.

It's not like I haven't been there before.

Speed up.

Gui Xiao?

Chen?

Why are you here?

No one's cooking in the garage.

I came to my sister's house for dinner.

Did you come together?

No, we bumped into each other on the way.

I'm leaving. Bye.

Bye.

[Summer, 2009]

The exam is over.

Beauty, give me a hug.

See you later.

He left first.

Gui Xiao.

I...

Props to Hai Jianfeng.

He confessed his love after graduation.

Why are you laughing?

Why hasn't Haidong come recently?

We broke up.

It's fine that he kept

fooling around with girls.

He even flirted with

that Zhao Minshan you know.

That got me so angry.

I scolded him

and we broke up.

Zhao Minshan?

You are here too.

Why aren't you going in?

Can you listen to me?

Give me a chance to explain.

Okay?

It's not what you think.

Can you calm down? What are you doing?

No, you...

You know

that woman.

She likes to flirt,

and also talk nonsense all day long.

Last year,

she even chased Lu Chen.

What are you talking about?

I swear.

This is the last time.

If I do this again,

you can dump me immediately.

You've been dumped.

I refuse.

The kids are watching.

Why are you so curious?

Hello?

Hello? Xiao.

What's wrong?

My grandma has been

getting a drip in the hospital these days.

My brother and I are with her now.

Do you want to come?

He asked me to call you.

To the hospital?

Yes.

I said you hate the hospital.

You'd definitely not come.

My brother said

if he asked you to come,

you will definitely come.

Say something. Are you coming?

Wait for me.

I'm free anyway.

Aunt, I'm leaving.

Go back.

I told you to go back.

♫You must have secretly collected♫

♫So much wind and frost♫

♫Waiting to meet someone♫

♫Who can know how to savor♫

♫On a night with wine and wind♫

Do you like me?

♫Half a moon♫

♫The moon♫

How could you ask that?

♫You must have wiped it silently♫

♫For a long time♫

♫Knowing that life is silent♫

♫Only have the light when it's like a mystery♫

That's all?

♫On a night when no one knows♫

♫The breeze goes everywhere♫

♫The breeze♫

Give me your hand.

♫You must have been there in secret♫

♫To the farthest places♫

♫Bringing back the green plants of summer♫

♫And the fallen leaves of autumn♫

♫On a night when you're dating in the garden♫

♫The pathos of youth is sung♫

I can't come back often

from the police academy.

I'll call you when I have time.

I'll visit you during holidays.

Zhao Lingling, let's go home.

Do you hear me?

Come back for dinner.

Or the food will get cold.

Let's make a deal first.

Okay.

Since we are together, we can't break up.

Lu Chen, if you dare break up with me,

I will cry to my death.

Don't play around.

Promise and swear.

We can fight however we want,

but we can't break up.

Don't laugh.

Behave yourself and answer seriously.

You don't want to be serious?

Never break up?

Let me ask you.

Go ahead.

Why did you always

throw chalk at me?

Did you have a crush on me?

You kept hanging around in front of me.

Aren't you just trying to get my attention.

You're just waiting for me to pull you back.

You think too much.

Why did you

play billiards

with me that day?

Yes! Nice one.

Good game.

Let's go again.

Who knows?

Be honest,

did you fall in love with me at first sight?

How is that possible?

You're not good at shooting.

Fine. Listen to me.

You even brought it here.

Give it to me.

Haidong, go!

Haidong.

Don't order me around.

Nice!

Follow my order.

Come with me.

Listen to me.

The person I'm waiting for is here.

Come here.

Listen to me.

This way.

Follow me.

- Slowly. - Be careful!

Come on.

Come on.

One more round. Come on.

This way.

- Here, here! - Haidong.

- What? - Help me find a restaurant

and book a table.

What for?

I'm leaving for university soon.

I want to buy everyone a farewell dinner.

[Jingkai University of Finance and Economics]

[2009 Admission Letter]

If only you

confessed to me earlier.

At least

we can live in the same city.

I'll call you every day.

It’s a deal.

Where is Lu Chen? You broke up?

He went into closed training.

It's a long-distance relationship.

And you can't even meet during the holidays.

You guys are really

dating with your imagination.

It's true love.

Go away. So annoying.

I'm afraid that one day

he'd tell me

I don't feel anything anymore. Let's break up.

No sense of security?

It's Lu Chen...

If it were me, I wouldn't feel secure either.

He's so handsome.

In our year,

many girls liked him.

As long as Lu Chen is willing,

no one would

reject him.

Stop it.

The more you say, the more confidence I lose.

Has Haidong contacted you recently?

We broke up a long time ago.

Why would he contact me?

If he looks for me again, he'd get beaten to death by my father.

I didn't dare to ask

Why did you break up?

Zhao Minshan.

It's still because of that famous

campus beau in your year.

It's her again?

This is the drink your mom asked for.

I brought it back.

This is Qin Feng.

Hello.

Hello.

Are you Gui Xiao?

Yes.

No introduction?

Introduce what?

Just call him brother-in-law.

Alright.

You two continue.

I'm leaving.

Bye-bye.

He looks familiar.

He's the boss of the venue I've

once booked for my birthday party.

Do you remember?

When did you two...

When I just broke up with Haidong,

I couldn't recover over weeks.

I stayed up all night

playing games through the night at internet cafes.

They're all places owned by him.

One day,

he came to me and told me

that rascal

is not worth it.

Get together with me instead.

I wanted to make Haidong angry.

I agreed without thinking.

Afterwards,

I fell in love.

Only you and Lu Chen are still going strong.

I hope you can hang in there.

I hope so.

No winter vacation homework?

No, it's not high school.

Why don't you come out to watch some TV?

Whose phone call are you waiting for?

No.

Your mom told me

that you have a boyfriend.

I need to answer the phone, Aunt.

Please go out.

Is there a secret?

You don't want me to hear it?

You're home?

Just got home.

Are you coming?

My aunt

won't let me go out today.

Forget it then.

I'll pick you up tomorrow.

Are you staying at home during winter break?

No, I don't have a place at home.

I'm staying in the garage.

Who are you looking for?

Lu Chen.

Come in. I’ll get him for you.

It's freezing.

Come in if you're cold.

I mean you're freezing.

You wear so little.

Are you surprised?

Your girlfriend?

I'm going to get married to the boss in the future.

There's a car that's hard to repair.

I'll finish it first.

I'll stay with you then.

I haven't seen you fix a car before.

Luckily, you have a handsome face.

No matter what you do, you still look good.

Well,

you have been going out every day.

Where are you going?

Nowhere in particular.

Nowhere in particular?

It's rare for you two

long-distance lovers to meet, how can you go nowhere?

It's too cold outside. I don't want to go out.

It's quite fun to watch him repair cars in the garage.

Young people are so easily satisfied.

I'm not

coming back for lunch today.

Lu Chen is a good cook.

How many times have you told me that?

Go home and wash up.

I was told that

the water boiler here is solar-powered.

The water temperature is not hot enough these days.

It's too far to go and come back.

I don't want to waste time on the way.

It's okay. I'll wait for you.

I don't want you to wait.

Come here.

I've warmed up the bed.

You won't be cold soon.

Lu Chen.

There's someone who's super annoying in school.

They keep looking for me after school.

I wish you were here.

They're pursuing you?

I don't want to watch it anymore.

Why don't we switch a place?

It's warm here.

No need.

♫I want to watch the sunrise with you♫

I’ll go get some water.

♫I close my eyes and make a wish♫

♫Your shadow becomes further with the long road♫

Lu Chen.

♫It becomes the truth of my empty dream♫

If someone ever pursues you again,

♫Love is the gentle looks of a youth♫

say you have a boyfriend.

I did.

♫Be bolder, come closer♫

♫You are the curtain call speech for my youth♫

♫You are everything on my tiny planet♫
