he had short hair.

First, I want to talk about my hair.

And he has since grown it out

Twin Flame Ascension School class.

[Alice] I had good reason to believe at
that point that they were running a cult.

I wasn't sure yet.
I wanted to get their opinion

and kind of hear them out, of course.

[Shaleia]
...is, "Blessed be, and namaste."

So in June 2020, I finally convinced
my editors, despite the pandemic,

to send me to Michigan.

I was dying to meet them
because so many of their followers

have only seen them online.

I want to see who they are
behind the camera.

Like I want to see how they actually live,
because I feel like that's often

the most revealing part of someone is
not just what they deliberately present

to the outside world, but how they behave
when they think no one's watching.

I was alone, I was far from home,

and some of the stuff I had heard from
the ex-members definitely frightened me,

and I didn't know
what they were capable of.

So I did take some precautions.

You know, did a location share
on WhatsApp with my editor,

as well as with my fiancé, just in case.
[laughs]

In five years, Jeff and Shaleia have moved
from like crashing on people's couches

to their own lakefront property

in a semi-private community
in northern Michigan.

When I showed up at their house,
it was really disorienting.

I was like,
"Oh my God, I'm actually here."

[Shaleia]
So this is, uh... the view.

So the first thing you'll notice about our
grass is it's got a lot of weeds in it,

- [laughs]
- [Shaleia] It's organic.

[Jeff] Like our lawn guy
kind of came with the house.

He said that this is what it...
this is what's best.

[laughing] So we believed him.

- [Shaleia] Yeah, this is the pool.
- [Jeff] This is the pool.

We keep it very warm
because we're not into cold water.

- No, not into cold water at all.
- [Alice] Nice. It's really pretty.

I was nervous, and I hid it. I had watched
so many hours of video of them,

I feel like I knew them,
but I had never seen them in person.

[Shaleia] So this is where we shoot
our sermons. We just got this up.

I wasn't going to bring up anything
super controversial when I was there

just because I didn't want to piss them
off like while I was in their house.

- How many rooms are there down here?
- [Shaleia] Two.

[Alice] Two. Okay, got it.

I was a sponge.
I was there to absorb as much information

as possible
about the way Jeff and Shaleia live.

[Jeff] Like, we're co-creating this home
together. Let's go up this stairway, babe.

- That's not the best...
- [Shaleia] Oh, you're right.

We're like still in the process
of designing and selecting

because you have to
like special order a table.

[Alice] They were decorating,
and they had just ordered

these giant crystals, these amethysts
that were like about that tall.

There were two of them.

In here, this is calcite
that's growing in the amethyst.

Shaleia was telling me that she
actually like communes with them daily,

like she sits by the crystal
and listens to what it's telling her.

The crystal is literally sending
her messages from the other side.

And she also, through these messages,
divined that one crystal

is masculine and the other is feminine.

So the crystals are gendered,
which I think that says

a lot about Shaleia's world view.

[Alice] I was creeped out for most
of my time at Jeff and Shaleia's,

but I really wanted
to see them film a YouTube video.

That's a big part of their influence.

This is my new friend, Alice Hines.
Don't worry, she's just my friend.

She is not my new twin flame
or anything like that.

He insisted on me
being in the YouTube video

and kind of interviewing me.

If you reader knew what you knew and know,

do you think your reader would believe
that twin flames are real?

Yeah, I guess the honest answer
is I'm not sure.

I have to think about it.

I knew that they were going to try
to push me, like they were going to try

to use all their methods on me
to get to the bottom

of what my motivations were
and why I was there.

- I knew I had to be ready for that.

- Really? Why is that?

Well, you're you, for one.

I was kind of disarmed by his gaze,
like he has really,

like striking blue-green eyes,
and will just stare at you.

I think those are two metaphors.

And if you're a person who's insecure,
or you were unsure of yourself,

in the first place,
that can be really manipulative.

So it's all in the makings.

So I spent all day there Saturday,
and I kind of like got into a rhythm,

and I started to relax.

- This is our beauty room.
- We call it the beauty room, yes.

like material possessions.

- [Jeff] This is our music room right now.
- [Alice] Pretty.

They're saying to be a spiritual leader
also means to be wealthy.

This is called "ground effects",
it's a special package.

And so this goes around,
all around the outside of the car.

Now, that's just an extra layer of detail.

I wanted a car where I could feel like
a fucking rock star going around.

It means to be affluent.
It's the prosperity gospel.

[Jeff] I got my special glasses
that I only wear in the Corvette.

- [Alice] Seriously?
- Yeah. This is just for the Corvette.

- [Gabe] ...old man.
- [Jeff] And, uh...

- [Shaleia] Come on down.
- [Jeff] Okay, hi.

So our household
has a couple in quarantine right now.

Things got even stranger
when I went to the basement.

They had a few students
who were actually living in their house.

That was when I met Gabe and Briana.

I talked with them, and Gabe and Briana
were living in one room together

in Jeff and Shaleia's basement
that was pretty crowded with stuff.

Gabe recently came out as trans,

and he had been guided
into his identity as a trans man

by one of Jeff and Shaleia's coaches.

And then he had been paired into
a twin flame relationship with Briana

and Briana was like,
"I'm straight. I like guys."

And Jeff and Shaleia were like,
"Well, he's going to be a guy."

[laughs]

Basically, it just seems
like Gabe and Briana,

as well as all of these other people,
were providing free labor,

like these people would cook and clean.

They would eat meals
with Jeff and Shaleia,

and Jeff and Shaleia would kind of
like provide off-the-cuff coaching.

They called it
the Spiritual Boot Camp program.

That felt like a big red flag.

The Twin Flames Universe community
provides a lot of support

and reinforcement and friendship,
but it also is a mechanism of control.

I left Jeff and Shaleia's house
with lots of questions,

particularly about the influence they have
over people like Briana and Gabe.

[Briana]
Okay, I think we're live now.

So we kind of started talking
about this a little bit earlier,

about how, you know,
we've only been really attracted

to men our whole lives,
so it is a different experience.

Briana and her partner had been asked
to go to Michigan

to be with Jeff and Shaleia,
and to observe them in harmonious union.

At this point, I cannot believe
what's happening in my life.

I cannot believe this is my life now,
dealing with this.

She told me she worked like a dog.
She was working and working constantly.

She went there willingly.
She paid to go there, which is crazy.

Briana took on the more feminine,
stereotypical roles

of cooking and cleaning,

and her partner was going to learn
how to be more masculine.

They showed Gabe power washing a house,
chopping wood.

[Lynn] Shortly after that,
Briana was cutting his hair.

He was wearing masculine clothes.

They were teaching them
how to be the roles

that they thought they should fulfill.

I'm Jules Gill-Peterson.
I'm a historian of sexuality and gender.

I think I first saw references to twin
flames just in media coverage,

over the controversy
over the organization in general,

and then specifically
the controversy over, you know,

the accusations that they pressure
people into transitioning.

If people are being pressured
to do things that they didn't ask for,

and it's supposed to be a supportive
therapeutic environment,

I mean, yeah,
that concerns me on its face.

I just think it's, at minimum, unethical.

But it just really makes you question
like, well, what else...

I mean, how far could that logic go?

[Lynn] A month or so later,

I got a text asking me
if I supported her twin flame union.

And that's when I said, "I love you
unconditionally with all my heart,

but I don't understand this union.
Please help me to understand."

And she said, "Well,
that's really not good enough, Mom."

And cut off communication.

Nothing is gained by holding
onto past disappointments.

Just let it go and let yourself be free.

I'm extremely upset.

I feel like my heart is ripped out
because of all of the advice

and coaching
that they're getting from this,

that this organization
is giving to my daughter.

[Cheryl] She didn't look happy.

We know what Briana looks like
when she's happy,

and she just wasn't happy.

And I called the police just to see,
have they heard of any activities?

Are they investigating?
Because we are concerned about a relative.

And they said
that they had been investigating.

I was hopeful that, "Okay, they know,
this is going to go someplace."

- [detective] Hi, Jeff? How are you doing?
- [Jeff] Yeah.

- Doing okay.
- [instinct]

- I'm sorry?
- Farmington Hills Police Department.

You mind if we come in
and talk to you for a minute?

[Jeff] Can we go somewhere else and talk?

[detective] If you want, you want
to come down in the police station?

[Jeff] Not really.

[detective]
I mean, we just got to talk to you.

[detective] People are claiming
that you brainwash them...

- [Jeff] Okay.
- ...to do work without being paid,

to commit crimes...

- [Jeff scoffs] That's absurd.
- ...by stalking their "twin flame",

that you're tricking them into
scamming them out of their money.

[Jeff] How could I brainwash someone
to do something against their will?

[detective] All these calls come in that,
you know, there is a cult.

Why we take this serious
is you look back at Waco, Texas,

and some of these kind of cults,

you know, where they convinced them,
you know, to all drink cyanide

- or whatever they did...
- [Jeff] Right.

...and we just want to make sure
anything like that is not going on.

[Alice]
Jeff and Shaleia have a lot of enemies,

in particular the family members of people
who are still in the organization.

And these people really want to see
Jeff and Shaleia face legal consequences.

The tricky part of that is that,
you know, running an organization

that a lot of people think is a cult
is not actually illegal.

[Jeff] Where is the illegal activity
that you're alleging here?

[detective]
That's what we're trying to...

[Jeff] You're trying to find out if
there's something illegal here?

[detective] Correct.

We understand
that you're running a business,

and if people buy
and utilize your product,

then that's up to them.

[Jeff] Exactly, it's a product online
that people can elect to purchase or not.

[detective] Correct.

[Jeff] And if there's a community
associated with that product

- that people can elect to be in or not.
- [detective] Appreciate that. Thank you.

[Jeff] Hopefully this can be
wrapped up quickly.

[Alice] A lot of the people who are
in Twin Flames Universe are claiming

that they made these decisions themselves.

But then if you look at the way
that those decisions were made,

Jeff and Shaleia are coercing people
for months,

if not years, and breaking down
their sense of self,

basically completely eroding their
autonomy and their sense of reality.

Today, we're going to talk about a much,
much asked for and talked about topic.

Yes.

The divine masculine and
the divine feminine twin flame energy.

Superpower!

Jeff and Shaleia teach
that in every twin flame union

is a divine feminine
and a divine masculine.

So if a twin flame couple is
a single soul divided into two halves,

there will always be a masculine,
and there will always be a feminine.

I spoke to several members
who were pressured

to change their pronouns
and their gender identity

under the guidance of Jeff and Shaleia
and their coaches.

These people had a really hard time.

The public image of Twin Flames
Universe is very interesting to me.

On the surface, of course, there's all
this kind of LGBT-accepting language.

You know, you can be any gender
inside any body.

You know, any pairing of people
is okay visually,

as long as it's divine feminine,
divine masculine, right?

It doesn't look like
conventional conversion therapy

because we're so used to
Christian conversion therapy in particular

using really anti-trans language.

But that, you know,
when you look at sort of the purpose

to which that's put, you know,
I think it starts to look a lot

less progressive
or just a lot less inviting.

And so in that sense,
it doesn't really matter to me

what sort of progressive language
or veneer is being put on this,

that the sort of practice
and the techniques

and the endpoints that Jeff and Shaleia
are employing are just part and parcel

of that longstanding American conservative
and Christian lineage.

with Anne and Catrina,

How's your day going?

Hey, good.
How are you guys?

[Catrina] When I first got involved
with Jeff and Shaleia,

I really did think that at the heart
of that group was compassion

and love for others and for humanity.

That's why I got involved, you know.

I want to ask about some things,

some specific things, and
they're going to be sensitive subjects.

And so I want respect everyone
in encountering this sort of topic,

so that everyone can feel at peace
and at ease

and not pressured about this subject

because it can be very sensitive
for people and understandably so.

- Mm.
- Okay.

So are you comfortable
with everything I just said, guys?

[Catrina] Yes. I'm comfortable
with what you said.

Okay, good.
So I want to ask Catrina first.

Catrina, what is it like to be
with a divine masculine in a woman's body?

We understood, you know,
kind of how they were using

divine feminine and divine masculine, and
at first, it didn't rub us the wrong way.

But then we started to realize
they were getting really literal with it.

You love Anne completely, physically?

Yeah, I love Anne's physical form
completely, everything that Anne is.

My level of attraction doesn't change

based on the way
Anne expresses gender at all.

Okay, how do you feel about having
such a feminine name,

being called such a feminine name
as Anne?

That's how I've always, I guess,
labeled myself and referred to myself, so...

Why would you keep a name
that's so obviously feminine?

I don't know.
I haven't really thought about it.

[Jeff] What about Dan?

[Anne] I didn't have any interest
in becoming a man.

This is me. I'm a Anne, I'm a she.

When that wasn't respected,
it did feel like a sense of betrayal.

What doesn't feel good
about the name Dan?

I don't know.
It just doesn't resonate.

- [laughs]
- Jesus Christ.

You're playing in avoidance game,

and it's the avoidance game that
prevents you from moving forward here.

Just let the name be.

And he just kept on and on and on
until the very end.

And I mean,
I think we both just completely broke,

and just agreed like, "Fine, we'll do it."

- I would consider that name.
- [Jeff] Boom!

- Mm. Yeah.
- There.

I just wanted it to be over.

Anne the man and Catrina,
it's been a lovely class with you guys.

He needed Anne to agree to that publicly,
so that he could go turn to what was like

a 95% female community and say,
"Okay.

Now, you're the guy and you're the girl,
and you're the guy and you're the girl,

and you're the guy and you're the girl,
and that's your twin flame.

And now you're all pairs."

He sent messages, private messages
to me asking, you know,

"Why hasn't your man accepted the name
I have given him yet?"

He had so much power over the group,
and he had a lot of power over our,

you know, well-being as well,
because we knew what was going to happen

if she didn't agree.

- Here we are in class again.
- Yeah.

For a call last week, we talked
to Anne the man and Catrina.

Let's check in with them again
if they're available.

[Anne] I was very stressed by it,
doubly stressed

because our whole business and livelihood
was tied to them.

Don't you look upon me, Anne the man,
and say, "Man, I love how he is.

I want to be more like that."

It's not a good deal. It's time to make
a new choice to be a man.

What the fuck they did to Anne,

making her feel
like she needs to be a man to be herself.

It boiled my blood.
Let her just be herself.

Let her be her fucking self.

Dan and Catrina. Mr. Dan.
Except I call you Dan and Mr...

- Well, I don't like the name, Dan.
- Don't like Dan? It's a perfect name.

Anne had no intention of ever
transitioning genders in any capacity.

But he just kept pressing in.

Do you believe me when I say
you're a man inside?

I have to be willing to...

This is very political.
Do you believe me or not?

I say that you're a man inside.
How does that feel?

It feels like you're talking
about something that's an outer reality

- and putting it inside.
- You're pissed off right now.

And you're going away from that anger,
and it's not serving you.

I know a pissed off man
when I see one, that's you.

There was a really big display of power
there, trying to get us to submit.

And it was very tactical.
It was very abusive.

We were the one couple
who they needed to be all in.

So that was a real threat for them,
for their community to witness.

Jeff being unsuccessful at control.

They accused us of abusing people.

They told people to go
and file chargebacks on our account.

I felt so bad for them.
I was like, "Wow."

I mean, they could literally just be like,
"I hate you, I hate you, I hate you."

And you're like... [gasps]

He could tell that we ultimately
weren't people that would submit.

We had done all of this work
and all of this personal growth

and mustered up all this courage
to be out as lesbian women.

And they cut us out of the group.

We shut our business down overnight.

It happened so quickly,
and we didn't have any footing under us.

All I was left with
was just kind of this terror of being

really disconnected with who I am
and not knowing how to move forward.

Makes me feel sick
just to think about how it felt.

People deserve better than that.
You know?

Anne, there's no like,
"I have to become that."

The truth is, you already are that.

They were doing the same thing
that they did to them to me.

They were encouraging me to change genders
because of how masculine I was.

I was like, "No, I don't want to do that."

And they kept pushing and pushing,
and I was like,

"No, I don't want to be a man."

I say that you're a man inside.
How does that feel?

It feels like you're
talking about something...

Where are people even getting this idea
from in the first place?

Except, you know,
this deep, deep, deep need

to ensure that at the end of the day,
textbook, on paper, technically,

we've achieved heterosexuality, right,
that is just like, oh, so gross. Yeah.

[Alice] While I was reporting this story,
I got emails from people

who were in Twin Flames Universe.

Some of them changed
their gender identity

and appear to be living
with that new gender identity

and living happily with it.

I'm gonna turn on the camera
and talk to you guys a little bit.

And a few others experienced
a lot of dysphoria.

The root issue is just that
there is a context in which

you know, someone is claiming
"I can see who someone really is,"

and that's just a root structure of harm

that trans people have faced
for an incredibly long time.

We can't peer into people
and know who they are.

There's just no way to do that.

I decided to do a follow up interview
over Zoom with Jeff and Shaleia.

I was eager to confront them about
the issue of gender identity coercion.

I just wanted to fact check some stuff.

Coercing people to change their gender,
would you say that you do that?

Absolutely and unequivocally not.
Not once, not ever.

- Nor will it ever happen.
- Okay, great.

And those who say that it did
happen are lying about the reality

and the true context
of what was being communicated.

- Mm.
- They are misleading you.

- You are being misled, Alice.
- Okay.

I have like, you know, things that
I've watched myself, or of you myself

that point me to a particular
interpretation, and this message to Anne

sure looks like you do tell people
to change things about themselves.

Okay. Well, I don't.

Well, Anne definitely tried to tell you
guys that she wasn't comfortable

taking a guy's name and pronouns,

- and you shut it down.
- That's not true. That's not true.

- She said that...
- If you watched the same video.

- Yes, that's what she said.
- That's my take.

Didn't care, okay, fine. Take whatever,
whatever take you want to take.

That's not the truth.

The truth is Twin Flames Universe members
have socially transitioned

under the guidance of Jeff and Shaleia.

I'm not evil.

I hope that
if someone looks carefully at us,

I hope they find, as I have found,
unconditional love

is at the root of everything that we do.

[Jeff] Obviously,
we're not having sex on camera.

[Alice] By now, I was convinced
that this was a cult,

but I wasn't sure
who the driving force behind it was.

Jeff is the person who talks more,
both in the videos and in person.

Shaleia, you want to talk about
spiritual things

and help people fall in love?

- Oh, yeah, I do.
- Shaleia is quieter,

but I also think that she is kind of the
spiritual force of the organization.

So let's focus in on our heart center
while we're "Om"-ing.

If you can't "Om" out loud with Jeff and
I, please "Om" mentally in your head.

Shaleia is the one who is more up
on the theology of twin flames,

she's definitely complicit
in the abuse that's happening.

Is she driving it, and how much
is she driving? I don't actually know.

[Michelle]
After being apart for almost 20 years,

it's strange because it's...
It feels like she's a different person.

I can't imagine her
conniving and thinking up this...

...you know, plan to take
people's money from them.

And it makes me wonder
what the heck happened?

Like, what happened to her?

I hope that she is happy, and I hope
that she is in a loving relationship.

But for someone to have changed
so much, I do wonder if...

...something has influenced her
and maybe continues to influence her.

It's easier for me
to imagine her as a victim

than as someone who would do
something unkind.

Some people felt that Megan
was victim number one, and I reject that.

Megan was a complicit participant.
She was not a victim.

I say that because I know Megan
well enough.

I've seen numerous examples
with me, with her family.

She may play submissive, but that isn't
happening behind the camera.

No, she participated willingly
for all of this.

Megan had the vision
and the twin flames idea,

and Jeff was the guy that knew
how to set a camera, set businesses up.

And so it was a perfect combination.

The last time I heard from her is we got
a letter probably about four years ago,

and it was a diatribe of hatred.

When she cuts the world off,

she does it with a finality
and an almost brutal-ness.

It's a very painful thing.

The person that I refer to as Megan,
I treat her like she's dead.

I have to, because the person
that she's become, this Shaleia person,

is alien to me,
and I have no respect for her.

There's only so much heartache
you can take as a father.

I have to treat her as dead because
I can't live with what she's doing.

But I miss the Megan that I raised.

And I don't know if it'll ever come back.
[sniffles]

I hope it does,
but I love her and I miss her.

But I can't abide what she's doing,
and I can't just forget it.

But I hope that she apologizes and makes
amends to the people that she's hurt.

That's all I got.

[Alice]
Jeff and Shaleia do not live in reality.

They have their property
where they barely leave.

They're surrounded
by people who worship them.

They don't encounter the outside world.
They don't see their families.

Jeff has a sister who has been trying to
get in touch with him, but without luck.

They are in like their own bubble.

I think that's part of the reason why

they thought
that my article was going to like

be this really awesome thing for them
and make them famous

because they think
they're the master Christ, right?

So like who, but an adoring,
positive journalist would ever be

sent to them by the universe, right?
They really believe that.

After my article came out,
Jeff sent me this email.

He said, "You must be going
through a lot right now

because we know what was published
was not worthy of you.

We believe that the authorities
at Vanity Fair

felt threatened by who
and what you discovered.

But we know you know the truth.

We believe you were given a choice
to follow your boss's direction...

- ...feel like someone unworthy of love...
- ...and essentially destroy...

- ...your status, your education...
- ...your mind is fragmented by fear..."

Basically, he's saying that I was forced
into publishing my article,

which is definitely not true, I mean...
I mean, it goes on. It's a long email.

After this email,
they published this 7000-word article,

trashing me, trashing the media.

They were very upset.
They claimed to have been deceived,

which is just not true.

Like they knew from the beginning
that I was going

to be looking into the claims
that they were a cult.

But then I learned that a couple
dozen members left the organization

after my article came out.

You know, people were leaving,
I was leaving.

When I saw that members that I looked up
to were leaving the group,

talking about their negative experiences
with Jeff and Shaleia and the group,

Then it started
to open my eyes like, okay,

these people were so connected to them.

They left.
Like, there has to be something wrong.

Those who have taken advantage of me
are not happy

with their relationship with God.

- It's like you took my shit and said...
- [Shaleia] Yeah, really inappropriate.

"This is you. Look at me, Look at me,
Look what I've done."

And it's not you who's done it.
It's me. You're my student.

You do not school me.

And you should shut the fuck up
and listen.

I got booted out of the group on Facebook

because I said something back to Jeff,
and he didn't like it.

They were making serious money off
of our trauma, and that's sick.

Why am I in this community
that isn't helping me

with what I came here to get help with?

Once I left TFU in September,
I wanted nothing to do with it.

Literally wanted nothing
to do with any of that shit.

I know what the fuck I'm talking about.

So I have to imagine there's no chance

I miss the...
I miss the Jeff that I knew.

I have no clue if you're still

[Eric] I have accepted that there is
no getting the old Jeff back.

He's gone.
He's not that person anymore.

There's still some part of me that

treasures the memory that we did have.

He was my best friend
for years and years and years and years.

And I love those memories.

So it's completely natural
if you're finding yourself crying a lot,

or just releasing a lot of old patterns.

I persisted with Briana,
and I would send her periodically, texts,

emails, pictures from home.

I didn't get a response
until February of 2021.

I got a call from her
saying she was very unhappy.

She wanted to come home.

I was, of course, shocked. She said,
"I don't want my partner to know.

I just want to come home. I'm bringing
my puppy. I'm not doing well."

I said, "Fine,
book the first ticket, I will get you."

I went to the airport, picked her up.
Within a few days, she was home.

But she was even in a worse state of mind
than I had never seen her.

[Lisa] We're outside by the fire pit,
and she came with her dog.

And we were talking, and she kept crying.
And Cheryl said, "Bri, are you okay?

Let me give you a hug." I remember
Cheryl getting up and hugging her.

If you can provide the love and support

for the person going through this,
that's the most important thing,

is just to have continuous
love and support.

And that's what we do.

I know
she's starting to think for herself.

I can see it.
I see little sparks here and there.

I'm very hopeful
that she's going to get out of it.

It won't be easy because
how do you get someone out

of an organization like that,
that's controlling your mind,

and you're allowing them to do it?
I don't know.

I pray for justice
and for the truth to be revealed,

and people will be aware
of what's happening

within the Twin Flames organization.

She'll get back again.

I'm hopeful.
We're gonna get there.

Oh, look at that one.

Yeah, I know.
That's one of my favorites.

I just remember thinking
we had worked for that day for so long,

and we had to do so many hard things.

But our wedding day, it was the perfect

way to celebrate
everything that we had become

and that we were able to do together.
I just had this sense of victory.

I hope that telling my story in this way
helps me

let go of it forever.

and just walk away with myself

and my relationship with Anne.

We have overcome
unthinkable things together.

And this is just another thing
that we overcame.

It's given me a lot of evidence of the
strength and resilience and permanence

of our relationship.

I think that we have a beautiful
love story.

We are a success story for love.

I think the best that I know, in fact,
you know,

that's what we wanted all along,
to show people that it's possible

to be your whole self,
and that it's possible to create

a love experience with someone
where they are their whole self.

And you can both just be
who you are exactly.

and oversharing as they used to be.

but they continue to manipulate people's

conception of their gender identity
and sexual orientation,

and people continue to join
the organization.

because this is an international pandemic,

this feeling of loneliness.

We don't know where we belong,
and we don't know how to rectify that.

That's why people seek religion.

Spirituality is a great business
because you don't need any credentials,

because institutionalized religions
are on the decline in the United States,

and people need
some type of meaning in their life.

So they want answers from something
that feels transcendent.

And Jeff and Shaleia
say that they have that.

They use vulnerabilities and
the insecurities that exist in the world,

and they funneled it as a vehicle
to make a lot of money

and to create a lot of trauma
for a huge amount of people.

I hope that this whole thing
can just dissolve,

like their whole entire community
can dissolve,

and their business and their hopes
of having a following can just die.
