and one of the guests,

a boy named William Zanzinger,

he hit her with his bamboo cane

because he felt
that their service was too slow.

Hattie had a heart condition.
She dies.

Now, Zanzinger was blue blood
from southern Maryland.

His father was
a member of the legislature.

I think I do remember this case.

This boy, uh, got away
with a nothing sentence.

- Six months.
- Mm.

Let me tell you,
there was outrage.

Regina and I,
this was before we were married,

went down and joined the vigil
in front of the hotel.

From poor Hattie Carroll
to our sweet Malia.
