of power seems unstoppable.

He is dedicated,
rigid in his beliefs, ruthless

and has an impeccable reputation.

But he is also blind.

Blind to his wife's silent sorrow.

Wrestling her demons alone

she is increasingly alienated
from reality and her surroundings.

Leopold's reputation is at stake.

The bitter truth that he had abandoned

And what did Dolf Lindemann do?

Dolf Lindemann decides
to lend his old friend a helping hand.

He makes the body disappear
in an unknown grave

here in the graveyard in Spulne

and now it was up to Leopold
to devise a new story.

He chooses to involve his daughter

so now there are four players
in this story.

Leopold and Rianne
make the world believe

the story many of you know:

The story of the tragic drowning
of Els Franck.

All traces have been erased.

Els is buried in the graveyard.

There was no time to say goodbye.

But the story of Leopold, Els and Rianne
does not end there.

I found it when I was sorting through
Mum's things.

The cover said: Why I Dance.

It was like Mum was talking to me.

Not as to a daughter
who needed protection at all cost.

But as a person in her own right.

Someone wrestling
with her own deepest fear.

My mother did not just go crazy.

My mother suffered three miscarriages.

She had already given up hope
of ever becoming a mum.

But then she fell pregnant again,
for the fourth time. With me.

But in the course of this pregnancy,
her behaviour became ever more odd.

The pain and the fear of the three
previous miscarriages was too great

and she couldn't talk about it
with my dad.

Reality had caused Els Franck
so much pain

that she sought refuge in delusion.

She was terrified that she'd also
lose her fourth child

and that's when she became obsessed
with these quaternities.

She thought she could keep
the forces of evil at bay

using dance as an offering.

Rianne let her dad read
what she wrote

and he, too, was deeply moved
by what he read.

It was as if his deceased wife
was talking to him

about things she could not
talk to him about when alive.

Something shattered
inside Leopold Franck.

Overcome by guilt

and for the first time in forever
he wasn't thinking about his career

The logic to the pattern of the attacks
