and this makes me feel safe.

- Ever since your grandfather
uncovered some things

on this property, things
have gotten strange,

and they just keep getting
worse and more dangerous.

they were responsible

for his heart attack.
- You mentioned

my grandfather chose donkeys
for protection, but why?

- Donkeys are spiritual animals.

They can see into the spiritual realm.

When they would come,
the donkeys would bray.

You know, "heehaw."

Your grandfather believed
they had some sort

of spiritual protection from demons.

- They were in the house last night.

They, they were banging on my
door and she couldn't open it.

It was completely shut, but
it was shaking like crazy.

(breathes uneasily) I didn't
know what was happening.

I was so scared.

- Then we were in the hallway

and they were slamming
doors all around us,

and suddenly they crashed into this wall

and made this giant hole.

- They're not happy.

They want you gone like your grandfather.

- So what are we supposed to do?

How do we get them to leave?

- They're getting stronger.

There's no hope.

I've learned to live with it,

but I only work here during the day.

And we've been reading Grandpa's diary.

These things have been
happening for a long time.

Abby said it started when Grandpa found

Grandpa found a human skull.

- Let me see that.

"Today was a dark day.

I was finishing the well

and I dug up a human skull.

Had an unusual tool.

I gave the tool to Abby."

- The scythe. The thing
she's always carrying around.

That's the tool.

She says it brings her
protection from the ghost.

- That's why it brings her protection.

That's what killed the ghost.

She carries it around
because it's afraid of it.

- That's the answer. We have
to get that away from Abby.

She doesn't live here, we do.

If we had that here, it
could buy us enough time

to figure out how to
get rid of this thing.

- She'll kill us if we
try to get that from her.

- She will never put it down.

- You're right. That's
all that poor girl has.

(sighs) But we're missing the point here.

The ghost is afraid, so if
it's afraid of one thing,

it's gotta be afraid of something else.

We just have to find out what it is.

- Abby said then it
doesn't just wanna hurt us.

He wants to kill us.

- We cannot be scared.

There's one thing I know that
we never can give into fear.

- Well, that's not all. Look at the paper.

Not only does it give us a
name, but there's a date.

- Now that I have a name, I

information on Mrs. Edwards.

And hopefully they can
tie it into this property.

But as of right now, we
don't know if Miss Edwards

lived here or not.

- Dad, you were in the military.
