- Hello, I'm Uwe Boll,
the writer, producer and director of "Auschwitz."
I'm responsible for the movie.
(speaking in German)
1940, the Auschwitz death camp was manufactured,
was built basically.
In 1941, it's actually killings started.
Over 1,000,000 people got killed in Auschwitz.
Now we are 70 years later
and the world chose ignorance again
on genocides like Rwanda, Srebrenica, Darfur, Congo.
And I think it was time to make a movie like this
what actually showed,
what shows what it was, what Auschwitz was.
It was like a meat plant.
People got killed like we kill now pigs or chickens or cows.
And there were no heroes,
no god who was helping, no special stories.
And the movies get made about it
are more telling the heroes,
like people who tried to kill Hitler,
Stauffenberg, Sophie Scholl, whatever, or
we have special people, they help Jews
like "Schindler's List" and "The Pianist" and so on.
And I think it was time to actually do something
what omitted that part
what just showed what it really was,
the horror.
(speaking in German)
I went to German schools and interviewed school kids,
like 15-years-old, 16-years-old
to ask: what you know about the Holocaust?
What do you know about Auschwitz?
And this is part of the documentary,
and I think an important part.
I think that over 50% of the people on earth
doesn't even know what it was.
And that they don't teach that in India or Pakistan or China
and nobody knows about history anymore
so that people, they deny the Holocaust.
Let's say the Iranian president
or that Catholic bishop
they found good ground for their stupid, absurd theories.
If people just doesn't know about it,
why they should not believe people
they deny the Holocaust?
And for all that reasons I basically made that movie,
and a lot of people and a lot of countries
'til today they wanna finish the Jews still.
Let's face it.
And I was in Cuba at 1991 and talked to people
they studied in Oxford and in Harvard and so on.
And the first thing what they did was
they gratulate me for Hitler because I'm German.
This is why I made that movie.
And I think you should judge for yourself.
Thanks.

- We are not born good.
There is nobody like God who comes and helps people.
It's all about us.
We have to make sure that crimes doesn't happen.
We have to make that something like this
is not getting forgotten
or that somebody can repeat it.
So this was the reason to make that movie.
