This is Officer Moore.
He's in charge of your personal security.
Nice to meet you, governor.
If it'll put your mind at ease, three pounds
of high-strength steel fabric.
And if we can control human emotions,
we can make man into the perfect species he should have been.
QUAID (ON INTERCOM): This is Quaid.
Place the chip now.
It's the ultimate expression of technology, a human robot.
[APPLAUSE] - Governor!
Hey, look out!
NARRATOR: It began with Westworld.
MALE VOICE: Five, four, three, two, one, activate now.
NARRATOR: A futuristic playground
where people could act out their fantasies
with robots so sophisticated, it was impossible to tell them
from humans.
Your move.
[GUNSHOT]
NARRATOR: Suddenly, the robots changed,
turned into the deadly servants of their creator,
Simon Quaid, who took them beyond Westworld.
I have an impregnable army of loyal and unquestioning troops.
I placed robots all over the world.
He wants it all.
He has one heck of a good chance of getting it
with those robots.
NARRATOR: Delos, builders of Westworld, must stop Quaid.
Assigned is Security Chief John Moore
and Special Agent Pam Williams.
Let's face it, John, it's your word against Quaid's machines.

[TIRES SQUEALING]
[SIREN]
REPORTER: We're police headquarters, where
the suspension of officer Ned Wilson,
who's been a member of the department for over 15 years,
has created controversy.
With me here is Sergeant Al Benedict of the Patrolmen's
Benevolent Association.
Sergeant, what do you think of the alleged murder
that Officer Wilson is involved in?
Murder?
A protester came after him with a club.
Wilson got a raw deal.
It was self-defense.
Sergeant Green, what do you think?
Captain Nicholson has no right to suspend Wilson
under these circumstances.
Let me tell you something else.
If Wilson isn't reinstated soon, there's gonna be a lot
of sick cops on this team. - Thank you.
Captain Nicholson, do you have any comment on the suspension?
It's standard operating procedure
to suspend an officer pending the outcome
of the investigation.
- Anything else? - Yeah.
It cost me a good cop.
Your entire plan depends on keeping that team intact.
Disruptions will only jeopardize it.
No, they won't break up.
None of them are willing to risk the public embarrassment
of having another unit take over their work.
They're too proud of their own service record.
If there's one human emotion I can always count on
to be consistent, it's pride.
Mike, take a little advice from an old friend.
Put this thing out of your head for tonight.
You and Liz have a nice, quiet evening at home.
You're right, Ed. Thanks.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
[BRAKES SQUEALING]
[GUNSHOTS]
Don't move. I'll get an ambulance.
[SIRENS]
Get ready, Patrick. Magnify.
This is Quaid.
Place the chip now.
Make sure you don't damage my listening device.
If this experiment works, it opens
up a whole new frontier for me.
Wouldn't have to spend the time and energy building
and programming robots.
We could take over the existing raw materials, so
to speak, and improve upon it.
Who says you can't improve upon the human nature?
I've got something to show you two.
It's an optics fiber bundle.
Where'd you get that?
Police lab.
They found it where Nicholson was attacked.
Then it's one of Quaid's robots.
They check them out yet?
Yeah, it's a 432-L component.
That's a visual cortex assembly.
Yeah, except this one has been vastly improved.
It transmits thousands of simultaneous two-way signals
between the robot's eye assembly and the computer the same way
a tiny telephone wire can carry 10,000 calls at once.
And the result is perfect coordination
and lightning fast reflexes.
It sounds like a maximum strength robot.
But they usually get the job done.
And that's what's bothering me.
If this robot was programmed to kill,
there's no way that Nicholson could have defended himself.
Then Quaid didn't want Nicholson killed,
only incapacitated.
You think they might have wanted
to replace him with a robot?
Nicholson?
Well, if that was the objective, why?
And did he succeed?
REPORTER: Since we talked to Captain Nicholson,
the case has taken a bizarre turn.
We learned that Captain Nicholson
was the victim of a brutal attack
as he returned home after our interview.
Although the department issued the usual "no comment" comment,
your reporter learned that the assailant is still at large.
What is not known, however, is whether the alleged attack
on Nicholson is in any way connected with the disposition
of the Wilson suspension.
This is one time when the security unit seems
to be making more headlines than the celebrated men and women it
is assigned to protect.
Hi. NICHOLSON: Hi.
How are you?
I'm getting along.
How about you?
Oh, same old problem.
I couldn't fall asleep without you.
Well, I think tomorrow night we'll
both be sleeping a lot better.
I've got some more good news.
Mrs. Rogers called, and the papers have been approved.
[LAUGHTER]
OK, OK.
So we'll really be a family now?
As of Friday, the status of our kids
changes from foster to adopted.
Oh man, I got to get out of here
so we can really celebrate.
I didn't think you'd mind if we started early.
NICHOLSON: Well, I don't mind.
Why don't you lock the door.
Oh, I'm sorry to disturb the celebration, captain,
but I have some blood tests to do.
Oh, I'll wait outside.
You'd better.
One patient in here's enough.
This is our proof, John.
Robots don't bleed.
At least we know Nicholson's still Nicholson.
But we don't know why or for how long.
Pam, call Oppenheimer.
Put in a high level call to Nicholson.
I want him briefed about everything that's going
on before I go to see him.
And then set up surveillance on him,
just in case Quaid tries to move in on him again.
Anything else, master?
All right.
I got carried away.
Well, was there anyone else on the force
who knew where you were going?
Anyone could have known or found out.
Look, Moore, I may have my share of enemies in the department,
but I can't believe any one of them would try to kill me.
But maybe murder wasn't on their mind.
I suppose they were trying to replace me with a robot, too?
Why not?
You're head of security for high ranking visitors to the city.
You can get close to anyone and without suspicion.
Important visitors for this year
have already been through, foreign dignitaries,
presidential candidates.
Is there anyone else due in?
Governor Harper is coming in for a TV debate.
He'd probably time that attack on you
to coincide with the governor's visit.
- Who? - Quaid.
He never leaves anything to chance.
You don't even know for sure it's Harper.
Yes, but it's an assumption we can't overlook.
You know, I find all this hard to believe, especially a robot
trying to infiltrate my team.
Yeah, I know.
But our Delos computers triangulated
one of Quaid's transmissions directly
to police headquarters.
There's no doubt about it.
There's a robot.
We just have to find out who it is.
Moore, the governor's going to be here in 48 hours.
There's over 100 men on my team.
You got room for one more?
Hey, Moore.
You're not looking look too good, are you?
I'm a cop, not a stunt rider.
A cop?
Yeah, I guess you flakes from internal security are cops.
But you're not one of us.
Listen, lady.
I was assigned to this unit.
All I want to do is my job.
All we want to do is ours.
But every time one of you dudes show up,
we have to think twice about pulling our guns
or we wind up before a board of inquiry.
That means we spent more time protecting
the punks than the victims.
Look, Benedict, I'm in the same spot as you are.
I'm just taking Wilson's place, that's all.
Oh, I wonder who will be taking yours.
How much do you think Moore knows?
Not nearly enough.
You know, we may have a problem.
He's causing a great deal of dissension.
A problem?
Let me explain something to you.
The best way to keep the group together is for them
to have a common enemy.
Now, John Moore fits the bill perfectly.
He's an outsider.
They already dislike him.
And most importantly, their animosity
will keep him distracted.
You're transmitting with Moore on the premises?
Aren't we taking a risk?
Perhaps, but I have to make an adjustment.
I must reach my robot at the police station.
This is Quaid.
- When did it start? - Just now.
Get me Moore.
MALE VOICE (ON INTERCOM): Officer John Moore, telephone,
please.
Officer John Moore, telephone.
Hello. Officer Moore.
John, a coded transmission is being broadcast
to police headquarters.
Must be from Quaid to his robot.
Get on it.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
[PHONE RINGING]
[MUSIC INTENSIFIES]
[SIRENS]
All right, forward marks up on the roof.
Sabit, Blue, the rear doors.
Becker, out in the parking lot.
Anderson, you've got the alarm monitors.
Mike, you better have your men work in pairs.
That way, nobody can be replaced.
Moore, I've been doing this for 10 years.
Haven't lost a governor yet.
We're already running a security sweep.
[ALARM]
Not a weapon or an explosive can get by there, or anything else.
Yeah, well we better check inside just to make sure nobody
beat us there.
QUAID: See, I told you Mr. Moore was clever.
Why, he couldn't follow the path I've set for him any better
than if I'd blazed the trail.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
Shouldn't I send the robot up after him?
No.
No, I want the machine held as a backup.
I wanna test my new technology.
Reverse the polarity and send my instructions to Mr. Nicholson.
He's responding well.
What's his first mission?
To make it Moore's last.
He's subconsciously fighting the signal.
Man with a strong nature.
Keep monitoring the polarity level.
It'll be interesting to see how high it goes before he obeys.
If he obeys.
Oh, he will, Patrick.
He will.
It's more compulsive than a hypnotic suggestion.
Hey, John Moore?
Where is the big fella?
I'm looking for Officer Moore.
Hey, I'm up here.
What is it?
Hi, I'm Pamela Williams from Newsview Magazine.
I'd like to talk to you.
- All right. - Hey!
Look out!
[ELECTRICAL CRASH]
Mike, what happened?
I don't know, I-- I got dizzy.
I-- I fell against the light.
Lucky interruption, Pamela.
But the important thing is the chip worked perfectly.
This time.
No, there's too much at stake to rely on a single success.
I think a few more experiments will be necessary.
I hope I didn't catch you at the wrong time.
Timing couldn't have been better.
I was on my way down, anyway.
I understand you are the officer
replacing Lieutenant Wilson.
My readers would be interested in your point of view
about his suspension.
Well, it's what the review board thinks is what matters.
OFFICER GREENE: She's asking your opinion, Moore.
Yeah, Moore.
How do you feel about it?
Look, my feelings don't matter, Benedict.
I do my job within the rules.
Listen, would you guys mind if I hang out here for a while?
I want to make sure you get a fair shake.
Sure.
Want to know how it really is, just ask us.
Great.
They're using the old police good guy,
bad guy routine so Pamela can ingratiate
herself with the unit.
Mr. Quaid, I think you should see this.
We may have a problem at the doctor's office.
NICHOLSON: I don't know what happened.
Mhm.
It's like I can't even remember
why I went up on the catwalk.
We've got a big assignment coming up.
I'm thinking maybe I should take myself off duty.
If Nicholson leaves the unit, it'll ruin everything.
This is Quaid.
Reassure Nicholson immediately.
Move to blank tape 17 in the spontaneous mode.
Repeat the following instructions to him.
I wouldn't worry about it.
It's perfectly normal to feel a little disorientation
after a blow to the head.
Everything else checks out.
You haven't had any headaches or other symptoms, have you?
No.
Sometimes I feel like I'm Jekyll and Hyde.
I can't believe it's me.
DOCTOR: Trust me, your head's just fine.
The worst thing you could do is to quit now.
You'll be able to do your job.
Just relax and don't worry about it.
It's just an ordinary response to pressure.
Thanks, doc.
Thanks.
OFFICER (ON OTHER TV): Does Nicholson know about this?
The Grange work was Wilson's detail.
That makes it mine.
Why not the firing range?
DEFT is for rookies.
And a security team with a blemish.
Riley?
We're booked in five minutes.
What is DEFT?
Development and Evaluation Firearms Training.
Hope you like home movies.
Nice move, Mr. Moore.
Freeze!
[GUNSHOTS]
Fascinating, but how does it work?
The film simulates actual street conditions.
Like, under what circumstances do we fire?
And if we do, did we hit our suspect and are we still alive?
I don't see any bullet holes.
We use wax bullets fired against a circuited grid,
which is also the screen.
Excellent, Moore.
Damn near perfect.
A sensor system connects the grid to a computer.
The printout gives us the results.
- Beginner's luck, Moore? - Excuse me.
Quaid's robots use heat sensors
to track their targets, kind of like air to air missiles.
And since the screen has no heat,
the temperature's the same all over.
Cold.
So the one we're looking for couldn't
possibly hit a projected image?
Right.
Here, here!
Right here, right here! - Halt!
I said halt!
[GUNSHOT]
MALE VOICE: Did you see that?
What was that all about?
What happened?
Oh boy.
There's no chance of fixing this?
Yeah, but it'll take weeks.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
Nice move, Mr. Quaid.
I don't know what happened.
Somebody must have replaced the wax with live ammo.
Well, none of the others have been replaced.
I'll check those supplies, see who made the delivery.
Right.
Let me see it, Vickie.
Hey, you don't think that I--
Procedure.
That's your favorite word.
You can dust those for prints, Mike, but you'll come up empty.
Somebody's got a weird sense of humor.
My money's on Moore.
He switched the ammo when he loaded his weapon.
Why would he do that?
He's afraid that we'll out-shoot him.
How you feeling, Mike?
What?
Back at the theater, you said you were feeling dizzy.
Yeah.
Well, actually fine until this happened.
Now, I feel lousy.
And I'm going to feel even worse when
I try to explain it upstairs.
Procedure?
Yeah.
My favorite word.
MOORE: Anybody could have switched that bullet.
It might have been a coincidence that Vickie was firing.
I was hoping I'd be able to enjoy myself this evening,
but now I guess I'll have to get this finished.
An article in favor of the police position?
For the benefit of your biker friend, Benedict.
Yeah, Benedict.
I'm beginning to think he's got copper
in his veins instead of blood.
Well, we'll know for sure in the morning.
I fed him that line about needing his expert opinion.
We're meeting at the pool.
Robots don't tan?
Aren't you clever.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
This stuff's terrific.
When this hits the stand, Nicholson
will have to reinstate Wilson. - Thank you.
You're sitting in the shade.
Wouldn't you like to take advantage of the beautiful sun
today?
I can't.
I have this allergic reaction to the sun.
Happens just like that.
I get blisters, and my blisters get blisters.
Look.
See what happens?
Let me put some lotion on there.
Oh, you do have sensitive skin.
How does that feel?
It's great.
Yeah.
Why don't we just move the umbrella back a little bit?
That way I can burn even more.
OK, you made your point.
But let's remember what we're here for.
Right.
Well, this report has everything, except for the part
of the defensive action.
Moore might have put that bullet in there
himself to sabotage the system.
That way we couldn't prove ourselves.
But he wanted you to take the test.
Maybe it was someone in your group
who was a little nervous about the results.
I've thought about that.
It doesn't make sense.
We're a crack team.
And so, from now on, I am really going to be your daddy.
Forever and ever.
How about that?
OK, bedtime.
Kiss your pretty mama.
Say good night to Mrs. Rogers.
Good night Mrs. Rogers.
Good night, kids.
Come on, come on!
[LAUGHTER]
You both must be very happy after waiting
so long for the adoption to be approved.
You can't know how happy.
It's been a wonderful year with the kids.
They add so much to our lives.
MRS. ROGERS (ON INTERCOM): You're
both doing a wonderful thing.
NICHOLSON (ON INTERCOM): We can't
imagine ourselves without them.
They're part of us show.
Well, we might as well sign the papers
so you can start your celebration.
I think this is what you've been
waiting for, situations ideally suited
for the human emotions test.
Now, if you'll both sign right there.
Bring it up to level three.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
Fighting [INAUDIBLE].
His willpower is impressive.
Increase to maximum level.
What's wrong?
Nothing. I--
- Mike, are you all right? - Yeah.
I-- I'm just not sure, that's all.
Not sure?
NICHOLSON (ON INTERCOM): Yeah, I need
time to think about the adoption,
about adopting the kids.
What are you talking about?
I just need more time, that's all.
Think of the children.
Now when does somebody think about me?
- Mike-- - You just get off my back!
Perhaps Mr. Nicholson should have some additional time
to make his final decision.
And we, ours.
What's the matter?
I don't know!
I just-- Liz.
Liz, I'm sorry.
It's amazing, a complete reversal of his normal pattern.
And if we can control the human emotions,
we can make man into the perfect species he should have been.
Thank you.
So?
I just spoke to Opp.
Quaid hasn't made another move on Nicholson.
He's keeping up the surveillance.
What about Benedict?
- His legs blistered. - Oh?
But he didn't know anything.
Maybe you'll have better luck with Vickie.
Hey, let me give you a hand.
I pull my own weight around here, Moore.
Does everything I say have to be taken as an insult?
Hey, you got the picture.
What if we got a little distance between us?
Like say, the table at the bar across the street?
The lady just doesn't want to be bothered.
Just trying to be friendly.
We just don't want to be friendly with a stoolie.
Edwards, I told you before, I am just trying to do my job.
We're not stupid.
We have connections, too.
I did some checking, and you are not a cop.
What are you talking about?
Why don't you tell your friends
in internal affairs about this?
All right, break it up!
What are you, crazy?
Now look, don't I have enough problems around here
without you getting into it?
Once more, Edwards, and you're out.
Now, all right, everybody.
Captain wants you all to report to the briefing
room in 15 minutes.
There's been a change of plans.
The governor's arriving early.
We will meet him in one hour.
Connie, switch over to channel A
and I'll take over the computer.
How you coming on Roberts?
Anything yet?
We've had him under surveillance
for the last 24 hours.
There hasn't been a single transmission
either to him or from him. - All right.
Keep on it for now.
If he's robot, Quaid could be keeping him
in silence to avoid detection.
Do you really think Quaid could replace Roberts?
Possibility.
And if he did, and if Roberts won the election,
he'd have the state in his pocket.
The stakes are certainly high enough.
That's an understatement.
Think of what he could do, all the state's resources
and wealth at his disposal.
He wouldn't have to worry about being arrested,
he would control the courts, or get a governor's pardon.
How you doing on those tests?
We're running them now.
We're running a computer analysis
on voice prints of a speech that Roberts
gave an hour ago, compared with past voice prints.
That should give us a definite answer very shortly.
Good.
Governor, we haven't had time to put
into effect all our security measures on short notice.
Well, that's all right, Captain.
I'm sure you and your men can handle it.
This is Officer Moore.
He's in charge of your personal security.
Nice to meet you, Governor.
We'll be going to your hotel room,
and we'd appreciate it if you'd stay there till we
get all the arrangements made.
No problem.
I could use the time.
I want to go over my notes for the debate.
By the way, gentlemen, if it'll put your mind at ease,
three pounds of high straight steel fabric.
It'll stop a magnum at close range.
I always wear it in public.
Thank you for your cooperation, governor.
Every little bit helps. - Thank you.
Let's go.
Did the governor say anything about the Wilson suspension?
Will he be making any public statements?
Give me the maximum.
REPORTER: What is the status of Officer Wilson?
Frankly, I think that kind of question is--
well actually, it's a very timely question.
Facts have recently come to my attention
that will have a great impact on Officer Wilson's status.
In fact, they have caused me to drop my recommendation
for review board action.
I hope this will help restore the reputation
of a fine officer, a reputation that
has been unjustly tarnished.
Thank you.
Thank you very much, sir.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
You've done it.
It's the ultimate expression of technology, a human robot.
Are you sure?
OK, thank you.
- Oppenheimer strike out, too? - Worse.
Roberts checked out clean.
There goes our theory.
Running out of intuition.
That debate starts in a few hours,
and we still haven't any idea who that robot is.
And I'm climbing up a wall.
Why would Quaid want to kill the governor?
What could he possibly gain?
The other candidate isn't one of his men.
Well, when you're climbing up that wall,
would you try and figure out why Quaid hasn't made
another move against Nicholson?
I'm straight on that.
He was trying to mislead us, turn us towards Nicholson
while he went another way.
Maybe.
- You know, I'm getting worried. - Why?
Because I've never seen you worried like this before.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
Mike, are you sure you're OK for this afternoon?
Yeah, why?
Frankly, I've been worried about the way
you've been acting lately.
Look, Moore--
OK, I'll level with you.
I was worried, too, a lot.
So I went to see Dr. Marcus.
He said it's a perfectly normal reaction
to this kind of injury.
Said I was fine.
That's great.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
I'm looking for a Dr. Marcus.
Dr. Marcus?
Yeah, they said he hasn't been around here all day.
You think you could try his office for me?
All right.
It's ringing.
MALE VOICE (ON PHONE): This number is no longer in service.
What kind of surgeon was he?
A neurosurgeon.
He stitched up a minor scalp wound for Mr. Nicholson.
Thanks very much.
[MUSIC INTENSIFIES]
In a few minutes, governor Eric J. Harper and his opponent
Jim Roberts will square off in a debate.
The incumbent, Governor Harper has been considered
a likely candidate for the presidency in the upcoming
national elections.
But first, he must stave off a strong challenge from Roberts
who been rising to within a percentage point
or two of his lead in the polls.
[SIREN]
Governor Harper survived close calls before,
having miraculously recovered from a near fatal auto accident
a little over two years ago.
And he now hopes to keep his presidential ambitions
similarly alive.
They should be about ready.
It's a good thing, too.
It's as hot as a devil under those lights.
[BEEPING]
[RINGING]
The metal detector's kept at the stage door.
I've been expecting you.
Governor.
I'm sorry.
I forgot about the bulletproof vest I'm wearing.
I'm sorry, sir.
I forgot.
I just picked up a signal on the directional beam.
The robot must be transmitting to Quaid.
I know it wasn't Edwards.
He was sweating like mad under the studio lights,
and robots don't sweat.
That's one down we don't have to worry about.
Look, maybe we can triangulate the source of the signal
with another directional beam. - OK.
You take the parking lot. I'll take the front.
We should be able to get a fix on the signal
if they stay on the air long enough.
They'll be homing in on the transmission.
Then it's time for Nicholson to make his move.
But first recall our robot.
Execute tapes three, seven, and eight.
I've got the source at 3:00 o'clock.
10:00 o'clock here.
He's right in line.
[BEEPING]
Got him. It's Riley.
Tell Nicholson.
Do not engage.
Take evasive action and draw Moore away.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
I saw it, Moore, but I don't believe it.
MOORE: Yeah, well we can relax now.
It's all over.
What do you say we get back to the governor?
How prophetic of Mr. Moore.
Remind me to thank him for his unwitting assistance.
Go to the regular television broadcast, please.
And so I say it's time that politicians stop thinking
about themselves, while the public's
still worried about the issues.
I think we can do better.
[APPLAUSE]
Governor Harper, you have three minutes
to reply to Mr. Roberts.
It would take much more than three minutes
to respond to all of my opponent's uninformed views,
but let me do the best I can.
I believe my record should speak for itself.
The last four years, this state has seen unparalleled growth
in every area.
Now it's time for our reply.
Activate the oscillator.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
GOVERNOR HARPER: Let's talk about our present,
our future, about our hopes, our dreams, and our problems.
When we come to that section, Mr. Roberts will come in
for some considerable coverage.
I'm sure glad it was Riley in the trash and not you.
We'd better tell Oppenheimer.
I'm getting another signal.
The other one was a decoy.
- It's coming from the stage. - That'll do it.
You can load out, sergeants.
GOVERNOR HARPER: So we left it alone, and you know something?
It didn't go away.
It stayed, and it multiplied.
An irritant became a quandary, a quandary became a problem,
a problem became a crisis.
I need your understanding.
I need your support.
I need your vote.
Thank you.
[APPLAUSE]
John, what's Nicholson doing?
John, he's not sweating.
The governor, he's not sweating.
[GUNSHOT]
You've got to retain possession of that chip,
Dr. Marcus inserted.
Nicholson, this is Quaid.
Return home.
Someone will meet you there.
Pam, stay with him.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
Mike.
Listen to me.
It isn't you doing this.
That cut on your head gave Quaid a way
of controlling you somehow, but we can take care of it.
Maximum power.
Nicholson, kill him.
Mike, think of Liz and the children.
You wanted to sign those papers.
You wanted those kids, but you wouldn't do it
because Quaid wouldn't let you.
Mike, you can still have them.
Don't give in.
Mike, you're gonna be turning into everything
you ever fought against.
You're going from cop to killer.
Who are you, Mike?
Which one?
It'll be all right, Mike.
You made the right choice.
The chip worked perfectly, Mr. Quaid.
What went wrong?
Humans, Patrick, humans.
Not only are they boring, but they're not to be trusted.
Well, perhaps you could improve the technology.
Oh, the technology, yes.
The emotions, never.
No, it's an unsolvable flaw humans share in common.
No, no, no, no.
The project will be shelved.
I can't depend on any technology that isn't 100% reliable.
No, in the future, I'll only use Westworld robots.
Their only thought, feeling, and motion is mine.
Remember that commentator mentioning
that Harper had a near-fatal accident two years ago?
- Right. - Right.
We check it out, I think we'll find
out that that miraculous recovery
was courtesy of Doctor Marcus.
So the governor actually died and Quaid replaced him?
Right.
And if Quaid's robot Governor would have won that election,
Quaid not only would have had control of the state,
but a good chance of reaching the White House as well.
Well, it's true politics make strange bedfellows.
