absolutely high right now.

This redemption, I
cannot tell you how much

I have been craving it
for the past three years.

[Danny] Here I am in South
Africa for my redemption.

I really wanna prove
to myself I can do this.

There is no power in
this beautiful continent

that can stop me from
making it to day 21 this time.

[Anthony] Being here now,

I'd be lying if I said the nerves
weren't there a little bit too,

the apprehension.

The minute that these jeans
hit the floor, it's redemption time.

I'm back! I'm back! I'm
back, I'm back, I'm back!

[Anthony] As far as
you can see, it's wild.

It's a little intimidating.

There's zebras!

Welcome to Africa.

[Andrew] I can hear
my mom's voice.

Oh, my God, I can't believe we're
getting naked out there in Africa again.

[Danny] This is Africa

and if you make this a
joke it will take you out.

[narrator] In the remote
region of Limpopo, South Africa,

four survivalists return
to Naked and Afraid

to redeem their past failures.

But this time, they'll begin
the challenge in teams of two

as they fight vicious
terrain, extreme temperatures

and bloodthirsty predators

before joining forces on day 11

for an all-out battle
for redemption.

Here we go.

Whoo-hoo!

Let's get wild!

[Chris] And last but not least.

All right, it's time
to meet my partner.

This environment is super thick.

However, feet still feel good.
Can't complain too much.

This sand is a lot more different
than the last challenge I was on.

Last time, I was in Mexico.

I ended up getting a heat
blister on the insertion height.

That blister pad just tore
off the bottom of that foot.

My feet are just killing me.

I was rendered useless

by being unable to put any
pressure down on my left foot...

[exhaling]

This is brutal.

I'm 100% sure
that this is the point

where my journey
ends and I tap out.

...and eventually left the
challenge on day eight.

This time, my foot
prep is a lot better.

I've been walking around barefoot
in the cold winters of Canada

as well as the hot, dry summers

in preparation for
this moment right here.

I've been a fighter
my entire life,

so tapping out on
my last challenge

is something that I
regret immensely.

The only way I'm
coming out of this location

is completing the 21 or
on a medical stretcher.

[narrator] Chris has a
strong primitive skill set,

but another injury could
threaten his second challenge.

Chris begins with a primitive
survival rating, or PSR, of 5.6.

The grass is so tall.

Makes me nervous of snakes

and other creepy
crawlies like ticks.

It was the tiniest of
things, the little bugs,

that took us out last time.

[groans] This tick
bite is killing me.

[medic] Your skin
has broken down.

[screams] Ow! Ow!

[screams]

[medic] I think we need
to medically tap you.

[Andrew] After I
did this challenge,

everyone in my life -
friends, family, people I meet -

they always say, "Oh, did you
finish? Did you complete it?"

And every single
time, I have to say no

and I hate that.

So this is my
chance to fix that.

[narrator] Andrew has
experience in South Africa,

But even the smallest threats
could sabotage him yet again.

Andrew sets out
with a PSR of 6.4.

Like, I know this guy
from his challenge.

From what I recall on his
challenge, he's a really nice guy.

- You're out here for redemption.

Wow, this is nuts.

- This is crazy.
- Yeah.

- I've been in this area before, so this is...
- Have you?

- My last challenge was not too far away...
- [Chris] No?

...so I have a little bit... A little bit
of experience I hope will help us.

That is outstanding
'cause I don't.

I was in the deserts of Northern
Mexico my last challenge.

- [Andrew] Very different. Very different.
- Very different.

But I wanna make sure that
you and I are in that same place.

Like, it doesn't matter,
we're finishing this.

- No more "What ifs", you know?
- I completely agree.

- Hell, yeah. We got this.
- Yeah, absolutely.

Definitely not what
I was expecting.

Never seen a male-male
dual redemption.

This is gonna be one
hell of an experience.

- Okay.
- Boma buddies.

- Yeah!
- Yeah, let's go.

- I think I see our bags up over there.
- Oh, yeah.

- Shall we have a look? Let's go.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Well, that was kind
of a surprise. I, uh...

I... Just, my brain thought a
woman and it's definitely not.

The good thing about him having
done a challenge before like me...

He's not a newbie who has no
idea how hard this actually gets.

I hope that we can quickly
become brothers out here

and make sure that we
fight it out to the very end.

- Good to get a bag again.
- It is.

[narrator] Each teammate
brought a personal survival item.

Andrew has a bow and arrow set,

while Chris brought
a large knife.

They've also been
given a fire starter

and a pot to purify water.

[Chris] I have the map.

- All right.
- Oh, man.

This is us. Look at this river.

[Chris] That is
a fantastic score

- and if we follow the water...
- Whoa.

- ...we'll be okay.
- Yeah.

[Chris] Lead the way.

You've been here
before. I haven't.

Oh, that's dangerous.

Well, looks like
this is my stop.

Here we go!

Welcome to the savanna.

Here I go getting
naked again. [exhales]

Okay, let's do this.

[Anthony] There's definitely
a lot of thorns in Africa,

that's for sure. Whoo!

[grunts]

Things poking you in all sorts
of places you shouldn't be poked.

I did the challenge,
my first time, in Brazil.

Overworking myself in
such a short period of time

is what led to my
medical tap-out.

[Suzanne] Your back
is directly in the sun.

[Anthony] I had
Suzanne as my partner.

[strains] Yeah, that's
not gonna happen.

That is not gonna happen.

[Anthony] If we'd been
able to work more as a team,

I would've worked less.

- [Anthony groaning]
- [Suzanne] Wow.

[Anthony shrieking]

[medic speaking]

[Anthony] They told me
that I had sweated out

all of the essential
minerals, electrolytes,

and had to take me out.

I learned that if you get a
partner that you can't work with,

that you're not
on the same page,

you're destined to fail.

I'm not a lazy man approach,
so I don't want a partner

that wants to sit down on
their asses and do nothing.

[narrator] Anthony
has a vigorous mindset,

but pushing himself
too hard too fast

could lead to another downfall.

Anthony has been
given a PSR of 5.8.

[Danny] So, my
challenge was brutally cold.

8,000-foot elevation way
up in the Rocky Mountains.

My partner was
tapped on day two.

And about day eight or nine,

a huge storm front rolled in.

I'm miserable.

When the medic tapped me,
When the medic tapped me,

I was working on
stage two hypothermia.

[medic] This is it. This is the
end of the road for this challenge.

[shouts] I tried so hard!

I do feel like I got a bit robbed of
my opportunity in my last challenge.

I've been putting a lot of
practice into my fire-building skills.

I'm ready to do this challenge
again and I'm not quitting.

[narrator] Danny has gained valuable
experience since his last challenge,

but he has never been tested by
the endless dangers of South Africa.

Danny begins with a PSR of 7.0.

Yoo-hoo!

- How you doing?
- [chuckles]

I'm good. I'm a
little surprised.

How you doing? I'm Danny.

Danny, I'm Anthony.

- Anthony, pleasure to meet you.
- Nice to meet you.

[chuckles] It starts
off odd right away.

Like, [groans].

So, this is the first
time I've been, uh,

really hanging out naked
in front of another guy.

You know, like, what
do you even say?

So, um...

Yeah, um...

Welcome to Africa.

Yeah, no kidding, right?

And, well,

I was expecting a girl.

[Danny] Um, I
ended up with a dude

which, you know... That's great.

Works for me.

I think having a little extra muscle
on the team will be a good thing.

Is this your first time, or...

- No, second challenge.
- Okay, yeah, me too.

I'm here for redemption.

- Yeah, same thing.
- [Danny] Awesome.

- All right, so we got a stake in this. I like it.
- [Anthony] Yeah, absolutely.

I got your back if you got mine.

We'll make sure
we get through this.

All right, man. Let's
check out the bags.

Yeah, let's see what we've got.

[narrator] For their
personal survival items,

Danny brought along
a primitive fishing kit,

while Anthony has
a half-handled axe.

They have also been given
a fire starter and water pot.

[Anthony] All right,
so, we're about here.

We got a long hike
trek to the water.

So we wanna head west-southwest.

We're gonna have to hustle
'cause we've got a shelter to build

and a lot of firewood to collect

- for these long nights, man.
- [Danny] Oh, yes, we do.

- Let's do this thing.
- All right.

- [Andrew] It's gotten really, really hot.
- [Chris] It has.

[Andrew] The sweat
is starting to pour.

You can tell a lot
times of the year,

- this whole thing's underwater.
- Yeah.

You can actually tell it's the
dry season out here right now.

[Andrew] Yeah.

Is that what I think
it is up over there?

[Andrew] That's some big poop.

Oh, it's... That's still wet.

Just looking at this and the
size and kind of where we are,

I'm thinking this is elephant.

[Andrew] Oh!

Yeah, they kill a lot
of people out here,

so we gotta keep
our head on a swivel.

[Andrew] Well, it
makes me wonder...

This river's so dry.
Where are they now?

Probably the same
place we're going.

Yeah. All gonna fight
for the same water.

- Yeah.
- Doh!

[narrator] Chris and Andrew are
trekking three and a half miles north

where the water sources
are populated by hyenas,

spitting cobras and
six-ton elephants

which can crush their
enemies under monstrous feet

or gore them with
piercing tusks.

I'm seeing a lot of rocks.

It is water right there.

[Andrew] That's a lot of water!

Whoo!

This is what we
need for everything.

I don't know
what's in this water,

but it could be crocodile.

But if we go up
just a little bit,

Somewhere where the
water's still accessible.

[Chris] What about right here?

It already has a lot of
real good protection here

with the trees, so...

[Andrew] And thorns.
Good thorns here.

[Chris] And thorns everywhere.

[Andrew] Well,
let's get to work.

- All right.
- Right, here we go.

We're gonna build
a boma out here,

which is basically
just a big corral.

Big walls of thorn trees

'cause a lot of the big
predators, the big cats,

They are very sensitive on
their nose and their whiskers.

They can't push their
faces through that thorn

to eat us.

[Chris] I do not miss the feel of
things with spikes running into my skin.

Nothing like a little blood
to get us ready for all this.

I'm getting the
wild man out of me!

[grunts]

It's coming together real nice.

[Andrew] Home sweet boma.

That sun's brutal.

[Danny] Yeah,
even in the winter.

[Anthony] Yeah,
I'm a pasty Irishman.

Me and the sun are
not necessarily friends.

The sun is what
led to my tap out.

I sweated out all of the minerals
that you have in your body.

Zinc, iron, magnesium. All gone.

That's never gonna happen again.

Man, we've been
walking for a while.

Hopefully, end is near.

[narrator] Danny and
Anthony have been trekking

three and a half miles
south over piercing terrain

to the nearest water source.

The dense bush
hides lions and hippos.

Although both charge at high
speeds and have razor-sharp teeth,

hippos actually kill over 20
times more people than lions,

making them the deadliest
large land animal on the planet.

[Anthony] Look at this.

- I think that's our water.
- Whoa!

I love seeing water,

but I know there's also gonna
be a lot of animals coming down

- just as excited as we are, so...
- [Danny] Yeah.

I don't care to hang
out with a hippo.

[Danny] Yeah, we should be
on the downwind side of this pond

where we make
our shelter, I think.

[Anthony] We've got
a clearing right here.

Let's choose this.

This is where I can
see it happening.

We got a natural barrier there.

So we close off the other
side and we'll be all right.

All right, well, let's
get started, man.

- Here we go.
- Cool.

[bleep]

[Anthony] Danny?

I see a snake

headed towards the bush.

Run into a puff adder.

Those are pretty
dangerous snakes.

One of those gets hold of
you and that's end of challenge.

Point your sticks right at it.

You got him. I see his...

Hold on.

You see him? His head's
facing me. It's right here.

Straight down.

All right, I'm gonna cut
back behind the gland.

[Anthony grunting]

Here we go.

[exhales]

He's a small one,
but we got something.

Yeah.

It's not much, but here you go.

It's beautiful.

Yeah.

[Danny] You're nice and stinky.

Catfish love that stuff.

[Anthony] It's our best chances
of getting something big.

If I can triple my meat
just by using it as fish bait,

that's the route I'm gonna do.

[Anthony] Okay.

We've gotta get a shelter built.

Daylight's going fast.

Two, one.

[Danny] We're doing it.

[Anthony] Two. Yeah. One.

[Danny] This is a totally different
team experience from my last challenge.

[Anthony] I was
worried that I would get

another partner that
felt like oil in water,

but we're gonna
be able to get along

and, uh, work together.

And that type of
teamwork breeds success.

- [Danny] Whoa!
- Got you.

Well, that's one hell of a door.

[Anthony] Yeah, they're
not getting through that.

All right, let's
get a fire going.

[Danny] I was tapped out for
hypothermia due to the extreme cold.

The nights are long.

Make it cold and that could
be absolutely devastating.

Big fire at night to
keep the animals away,

keep the cold away,
is gonna be key.

Oh, there we go.

There's the magic.

Way to go, Danny.
The king of fire.

We got our boma.
We got our fire.

- We got our water.
- Nice.

Day one, baby.

[Chris] We have fire.

We got water that
we just collected.

We have our boma somewhat set.

Not bad for the first day.

[Andrew] Mmm.

I'd forgotten how
amazing dirt, gritty water is.

- [Andrew retches] - [Chris]
Let's see how gross that is.

- This should be a candle-free house.
- [Chris] Yes.

Mmm, is that... Is
that boiling dirt water?

- [Chris] Is that African sweat water?
- That's my favorite.

- I know, I know. That's why I got it.
- [Chris] Yeah.

[Andrew] I would like for you
to describe to me how that feels.

[spits] It actually
isn't all that bad.

- [Andrew laughing]

It's really neat that
both Chris and I.

It's really neat that
both Chris and I

are reaching for this
kind of... The same goal,

this 21-day redemption,

'cause we both know what
it feels like to come short.

And so I think that motivates
us to work together and...

I mean, we're just
cutting up, laughing a lot.

And when you have cuts all over
your body and you're bleeding,

that humor is an
incredible survival tool.

Day one always
scares me the most

and it's almost over...

- [Chris] It is.
- ...so that feels good.

I agree. I agree.

- We just gotta keep up this momentum...
- [Andrew] Yeah.

...'cause we know
that, if we don't,

- It goes downhill real quick.
- [Andrew] Yeah.

[hyenas calling]

[Danny] First night's
starting off warm.

Could be worse.

The wind isn't terrible
yet, so all in all...

[hippos grunting]

Very much a live riverbed.

Yeah, thanks for
making that door.

[hyenas calling]

[elephant trumpeting]

We've laid down for two minutes,

- two minutes.
- [elephant trumpets]

This elephant, right,

- 30 yards, probably, that way...
- Yeah.

...started losing their minds.

We're gonna get eaten.

We are gonna get trampled.

- That is what we're looking at...
- On night one.

I think... Buddy, are we
gonna get much sleep?

[Andrew] Um, I don't think so.

You can probably hear that
there's a giant monster right there.

I can't disagree with him.

Day two!

[Chris] We didn't
sleep very much.

However, we also didn't get
trampled by elephants last night,

so that is a huge victory.

We heard them grunting,
we heard them splashing

and we heard them moving about.

They were no more than,
probably, 100 yards from us.

No one gets into this house.

[Chris] Today's goal is we're
gonna reinforce our boma,

add more thorns,
increase the height

to help keep us
safe and protected.

I feel like a home
renovation show.

This is Property Brothers.

Long-gone turtle shell.

Hey, Andrew.

Got some decorations.

Oh, no way! [gasps]

That is rad.

- Got a turtle shell. Long gone.
- Cool!

Makes me feel like, like,
a nine-year-old kid who,

when you're out here and you
find, like, a cool tortoise shell...

And you better believe we're
gonna make a little outfit out of that.

[Anthony] We're gonna need
to see if we can catch some fish.

[Danny] Plus, it might feel
good to get my feet wet.

- Yeah.
- It's warm out today.

I wanna check out this riverbank

and come up with a solid plan.

[Danny] I just saw
three or four fish jump up.

In the last minute alone.

Very encouraging.

Some nice, tasty chunks
of puff adder meat.

Nice and stinky
for them catfish.

Just how they like it.

Here we go.

My last challenge was
drastically different from this one.

The nights were
much, much colder

and there was absolutely
no fishing available there

like there is here, so...

that sinks to the bottom.

bottom-feeders out here.

[Anthony] I think
I saw a turtle.

So, directly across.

There's a hump out of the water.

That's the only
thing I can think of

that would submerge
looking like a rock.

Maybe we could catch a turtle.

That's a goddamn hippo.

So monstrous.

At first, from a distance,

I literally thought that was,
like, an island, like land,

that it was just a big mud pile.

Oh, [bleep]. There's
two [bleep] hippos.

[Danny] Maybe the bigger
fish are a little bit further in.

That would make sense.

[Anthony] Once they
go down in the water,

you have no [bleep] clue

where they're at or where
they're gonna come up.

Then one could pop up over here.

I have no idea.

It's that real and it's
right there in front of me.

Oh! Oh, oh, oh!

Danny!

There's two [bleep] hippos.

[hippo roars]

Danny!

[Danny] Slime. Look at that.

[Anthony] Danny!

I just saw a hippo
go under the water.

You're about to see two hippo.

There's two out here.

There's one. Where'd
the other one go?

[Danny] Yep, there it is.

Those are the kings
of the jungle right there.

I don't wanna go any further
down this creek while they're around.

Yeah.

[Danny] As majestic
creatures as they may be,

it's also very humbling

when you see them
where you collect water.

We are not the
apex predator here.

And we need to
respect their space.

We're strangers here.

I don't feel safe at all.

[Anthony] Let's truck it out of
here before who knows what.

[bleep]

- Just saw [bleep] hippos.
- I know.

[Chris] We need to eat.

Today is fishing,
hunting, protein.

Yeah.

We're three days into
this challenge now.

We're big boys out here.
We need some protein.

I am gonna go check
out the other side.

Definitely have a spot down here

where we've been
hearing all the birds.

Last time, I was a forager.

This time, I hope
to be a hunter.

I brought a bow.

Since my last challenge, I've
been practicing a lot with the bow.

I'm excited to get out here
and use it in a real-life situation

and provide.

and busted off just
that center piece.

I slowly start chiseling away,

making a hook shape.

We need food and
we need food quickly.

And while Andrew
has the bow and arrow,

and that is a great resource
for us to have out here -

if we can secure a big kill,
that's gonna be outstanding -

however, primitive fishing
is something that, I think,

is gonna guarantee
Andrew and I success.

[Andrew whispering] I hear
tons of birds off in the distance.

I think the guineafowl are in
this area right... Right here.

Generally, they're in tall grass

and I won't see
'em until they fly.

I think I might try
to go downwind

from a whole
flock of guineafowl,

see if I can get a
shot off of something.

[Andrew panting]

See it over there?

A squirrel.

[groans]

Tiny little target.

Just barely missed him.

Part of this redemption.

Is proving to myself
that I have the skills.

It's a lot of pressure for that
one, tiny, brief, quick moment.

That sucks.

I do not feel safe

being on the edge of that water

dealing with my fishing kit,

knowing that there's hippos.

And just a little extra.

We're gonna design a trotline

which is basically
a fishing line

suspended by two wooden posts

that have hooks
hanging down from them.

This way, we can,
hopefully, catch some game

while keeping
myself safe out here

'cause one little catfish
ain't worth dying for.

We got three hooks.

We've got three pieces of bait.

Catfish go after
that crappy snake.

Rotten meat,
right up their alley.

Yeah.

I don't think there's
anything in this world.

That's gonna get the
smell out of our hands.

[Anthony] Yep.

[Danny] I will grab
the outermost hook.

All right, and I got the pole.

Leave everything else there.

Great.

[Anthony] Avoid the hippo track.

[water splashes]

Danny.

Something just
went under right there

and enough to cause a pop-out,

that ripple effect,
so... Was it a fish?

Was it a fish?

I couldn't see if it
was a fish landing

or something ducking.

It is dangerous.

I get that's their home,

but we're gonna have to invade
you're home for just a little bit

'cause we need to
eat, we need fish.

Go ahead. Give it a
toss as far out as we can.

- Oh, yeah!
- [Anthony] Okay. I'm gonna tie it off.

[Danny] Okay, yeah,
that'll be perfect.

[Anthony] When the
catfish does come,

it can't pull this
pole into the water.

[Danny] All right. Secured it
onto this bundle of papyrus.

Mission accomplished.

[Anthony] Oh, yeah.

Come on, fishies.

Some delicious smelly snake.

It's what all the cool
catfish are eating.

Okay, fingers crossed.

[hooting]

Last challenge,

this was about the
time that I was, uh,

this was about the time
that I was, uh, on my back

and they were pulling
me off the beach,

which, I know, isn't
an achievement.

It's not... Shouldn't be a big
thing to say, "Hey, I did better,".

But that's already a
victory, a personal victory.

[Danny] We have three pieces
of snakes on the line out there.

If we get some fish on our line,

it'll be a big game
changer here.

I don't wanna see
either one of us gas out.

Over-exertion, for me,
was an issue the first time.

So we'll just make
sure we've got firewood

and check the trap each
time we go down to get water.

No big worky stuff.

Day four morning.

Taking out cold, damp
asses down to the trotline.

Hopefully, catfish is
what's for breakfast.

[sighs]

Starting to get a
little chillier, yeah?

No sun.

Would make me really happy if
something was already on that line.

[Danny] Not what
I was hoping for.

We'll leave you alone if you
leave us alone. How about that?

Sound fair?

I'll take that as
a yes. [chuckles]

[Danny] Let's hope so.

[Anthony] Nothing there.

[Danny] Nope.

It's all gone.

[bleep]

Oh, even...

Even better, they
stole one of our hooks.

[Anthony] There's
a lot of fish in here.

Gotta find where to get 'em.

We're [bleep] out of luck

until we can find another
snake or more bait.

Um, catfish, they like stinky
things. They like rotten meat.

You can't just
slap a worm on that

and that really work for you.

So yeah.

[Chris] I'm gonna go with
some fishing this morning.

And for that to work,

we need to make some
fishing lines for the bone hook.

There's a line.

It's gonna wrap around here,

very similar to a snelled hook,

and then run all the
way up to the line.

There we go.

Find a nice
fishing pole for that.

That's gonna be
my quick fishing pole.

Just gotta bait it,
throw it in the water.

Nice and easy.

Termite mound.

It's a perfect opportunity
to try and find bait.

[bleep]

This is a spitting cobra.

It'll actually spit
venom right on me.

Not only will it create
lesions on the skin,

but could actually
cause me to go blind.

And I have to be very,
very careful with it.

Oh, I want that snake.

This is one of those
risk versus reward.

There's a lot of risk in this.

But redemption is something
that has to be earned.

[snake hissing]

[bleep] We're spitting venom.

Come on.

[roars] Yeah!

That cobra tried spitting at me.

The Canadian struck back first.

We have food, baby!

This is huge.

We actually have food for
the first time in this challenge.

This is an absolute
game changer for us.

No way!

[Chris] We got 'em, baby.

Oh, my God, it's huge!

[Chris] We got 'em!

- Oh, my gosh.
- Got in there and started swinging.

Yes!

That's a big old meal.

That's a big meal, baby.

I needed that so much.

Boom!

Man, you're my dude.

- You're my guy.

We've both been working hard,

but we've been coming up
with zeros as far as food goes.

This feels like we finally
put one on the board.

Something in our
belly and it's just...

I remember last time,
my last challenge,

how quickly that
brings your spirits back.

Snake is done.

[Chris] Beauty.

- First meal here.
- Yes!

[Chris] So good.

[Andrew] It's kinda
like bland chicken.

You just pull the little,
teeny strips of meat

through the tiny little ribs.

And it's pure protein.

Crazy, it's one of the most, like,
dangerous snakes in the world, too.

Uh-huh.

Ain't no match
for the boma bros.

No.

[Anthony] Um, food's
been our one hold-back.

The hunger level is
